[00:03:17] So.
[00:03:18] Nice.
[00:03:19] Yeah.
[00:03:20] How was the coverage by the way?

[00:03:36] Funny as hell.
[00:03:37] This guys are great.
[00:03:38] Funny as hell.
[00:03:39] They do a great job.
[00:03:40] Yeah, it was a good time.
[00:03:41] It was a good time.
[00:03:42] Yeah.
[00:03:43] Shout out to Chase Penel II.
[00:03:44] I know he's watching.
[00:03:45] Hey buddy.
[00:03:46] You just, yeah.
[00:03:47] Love you.
[00:03:48] So it's going to be fun tonight every week.
[00:03:51] I say the same thing.
[00:03:52] It's going to be a good one time.
[00:03:54] But we're going to have some fun tonight.
[00:03:56] Oh, yeah.
[00:03:57] Got some some great players from Knoxville just pulled out a big win at the kickoff amateur
[00:04:02] doubles thick field.
[00:04:03] Really, really nice guys.
[00:04:05] I've played them a bunch of times.
[00:04:07] I'm like, I'm like five hours in Knoxville and I love going up there.
[00:04:10] They got a great scene.
[00:04:11] So I'm really looking forward to talking to these guys about their win.
[00:04:15] Likewise.
[00:04:16] Yeah.
[00:04:17] Yeah.
[00:04:18] We probably mentioned that this, this feature have been kind of undertaking in the last few
[00:04:23] weeks and over the last couple of months is called champions in the spotlight.
[00:04:27] And these guys are champions, man, you know, taking first place at the TKO.
[00:04:31] So without further ado, let's, let's welcome for the great state of Tennessee Rob Trout
[00:04:36] and Greg Sherrod.
[00:04:38] A drink, Greg Sherrod.
[00:04:39] He corrected me before airtime but Greg Sherrod and Rob Trout.
[00:04:43] Welcome.
[00:04:44] Welcome to the show guys.
[00:04:46] Thank you.
[00:04:48] Do I dare ask what's the weather like in Tennessee tonight?
[00:04:54] It's beautiful.
[00:04:55] It's actually beautiful tonight.
[00:04:57] Nice.
[00:04:58] Yeah, way way up.
[00:04:59] Yeah, I was going to say what's 70.
[00:05:01] What's your description?
[00:05:02] Beautiful.
[00:05:03] Yeah, 70.
[00:05:05] Oh, it's real nice.
[00:05:06] Man, 70.
[00:05:08] Along the walk outside to hear the crickets and the stars.
[00:05:12] Oh, nice.
[00:05:13] And it's just that perfect comfortable temperature.
[00:05:16] Tennessee's got some humidity and it's not too humid, which is.
[00:05:21] That's always nice.
[00:05:22] It's very nice.
[00:05:23] It's nice.
[00:05:24] Yeah.
[00:05:25] It's not real.
[00:05:26] And you guys are beautiful.
[00:05:27] And you're both from the Knoxville scene, right?
[00:05:30] Yes, sir.
[00:05:31] Nice.
[00:05:32] Well, I think about here about nine months ago.
[00:05:35] Oh, nine months.
[00:05:36] Okay.
[00:05:37] And you're originally from Denver, Rob?
[00:05:39] Yep.
[00:05:40] Okay.
[00:05:41] And Denver.
[00:05:42] Got it.
[00:05:43] So let's do this.
[00:05:44] I know we always have to start from the beginning.
[00:05:47] But Greg, I'd like you to go first.
[00:05:50] When was the first time you saw Fuzball table?
[00:05:53] How old were you and what kind of table was it?
[00:05:55] Uh, yes.
[00:05:56] So yeah, I got way back.
[00:05:59] I was just kid.
[00:06:01] So I had the fortune of my uncle grew up.
[00:06:05] Well, he grew up in Kater Outland, but he lived in Houston for a long time.
[00:06:09] And he played Fuzball.
[00:06:11] Okay.
[00:06:12] And he was probably in the bars.
[00:06:13] I don't know if he played in tournaments so much, but he knew how to play the right way.
[00:06:17] So he'd come over and we'll bust.
[00:06:21] So we got to see what we were supposed to play like.
[00:06:25] So it wasn't just the spinning game, et cetera from a young age.
[00:06:27] So he convinced my mom to buy tornadoes.
[00:06:31] So I had the home version of a tornado, you know, whatever.
[00:06:35] From a fairly young age.
[00:06:37] So that's really the only one I've ever played on.
[00:06:39] I never had really any of the other.
[00:06:42] You mean you didn't work?
[00:06:43] You didn't do anything.
[00:06:44] Yeah, on a Sears rowback or the one or the other great tables of the time.
[00:06:50] No.
[00:06:51] So it didn't have any of those.
[00:06:52] That's I would straight into it.
[00:06:54] So we'd, you know, plan around at the house for a long time.
[00:06:57] But I started playing more seriously in college, took my table to my apartment.
[00:07:05] So you just play all day.
[00:07:08] Yeah.
[00:07:09] But then I hooked up with playing with Eddie and Jackson and Benji and some of these old
[00:07:13] guys, old school guys that were playing in the early 2000s and the 2000s.
[00:07:19] And I'd go over there weekly every once in a while and get pummeled.
[00:07:22] John Cunningham used to go as well.
[00:07:26] So I learned how to play back then, tournament style.
[00:07:30] But I never went to a tournament.
[00:07:32] Huh?
[00:07:33] Didn't get in my first tournament until 2018 or 19.
[00:07:38] Oh, that recently.
[00:07:39] So yeah, so fairly.
[00:07:40] Yes, a fairly.
[00:07:41] And so making it into the first place position and especially at the TKO in amateur doubles,
[00:07:48] that's that's saying something.
[00:07:49] You made some some great moves.
[00:07:53] Yeah, it's been a fun ride.
[00:07:54] I can I'd like to go to more tournaments.
[00:07:58] I could basically go to TKO in worlds and then Asheville.
[00:08:02] I got about a three or four hour.
[00:08:04] Uh, traveled limit.
[00:08:07] Right.
[00:08:08] I don't think it over there.
[00:08:08] I said I get it's too far of a draft for me personally.
[00:08:12] That is a long sleeve.
[00:08:13] Yeah, starts this long weekend.
[00:08:16] Yeah.
[00:08:17] Yeah, that's that's all of our problems.
[00:08:19] I want to go to all of them.
[00:08:20] But right now, what life is a football player.
[00:08:25] So so Rob, how about you?
[00:08:26] What was the first time you saw a football table?
[00:08:29] How old were you and what kind of table was it?
[00:08:33] It was it was a tornado table.
[00:08:35] And I was probably 12 13 years old.
[00:08:39] OK.
[00:08:41] And I believe it was when tornado.
[00:08:43] I believe it was tornado's first table, first like tournament style table.
[00:08:50] And my parents on the video game arcade.
[00:08:53] And how lucky was that?
[00:08:55] I've been able to get there.
[00:08:58] And so that was really the first time I saw a table and I kind of just naturally took to it.
[00:09:04] And so you got a chance to see Tom Spear play early on.
[00:09:08] I mean, how old were you at the time you've met Tom Spear?
[00:09:11] I was 12 or 13.
[00:09:12] Wow.
[00:09:14] Dude.
[00:09:16] Yeah, I think we probably had the arcade for about a year and then I think Tom.
[00:09:20] I don't know if he was your representative for tornado or if he just bought tables and put
[00:09:24] him in places.
[00:09:26] He had two tables in the arcade.
[00:09:29] And so he would come every week to divvy up quarters, you know with my parents.
[00:09:35] And I just naturally took a gate, took a liking to the game.
[00:09:40] And so we'd play a little bit and he'd pummel me.
[00:09:43] And you know, he'd make the post-bought and he'd play, you know, keep away and just bounce
[00:09:48] the ball from his two to his five, five to his three and back to his five.
[00:09:51] Oh man.
[00:09:52] Wow.
[00:09:53] So I was kind of determined at that age to at least give him a little bit of a game.
[00:10:00] Right.
[00:10:01] How many people can say that they play with that level of a player legend of the sports early on?
[00:10:08] I mean early on.
[00:10:09] That's extraordinary.
[00:10:12] Did you get to know Tom very well?
[00:10:16] It's pretty much when he came in during the week.
[00:10:19] Yeah.
[00:10:20] So whatever, if I happen to be there when he came in, you know, I'd always bug him and say,
[00:10:24] well, I'll just play a couple of games.
[00:10:25] Of course.
[00:10:27] So.
[00:10:28] And the first time you actually found a tournament that for competition, what was the
[00:10:33] first time you went out to compete?
[00:10:36] The first time I went to a tournament was in Lidlton.
[00:10:40] So my parents arcade was in West Denver.
[00:10:42] Lidlton is more south Denver.
[00:10:44] That's where a lot of the players that people were recognized from the Denver area played.
[00:10:49] Right.
[00:10:50] So I didn't get to go play in a tournament until I was 16.
[00:10:53] I think I just got my driver's license and drove all the way to Lidlton and played
[00:11:00] in a tournament there.
[00:11:01] I think I got knocked out right away.
[00:11:04] Just remember feeling like, man, these guys are serious.
[00:11:09] I remember going to the bathroom and washing my hands, getting cold water on my hands because
[00:11:14] I'd be sweating.
[00:11:15] I was like, holy cow.
[00:11:16] I never really played, you know, foosball competitively.
[00:11:22] We had two tables and on the weekends there were a couple of high schools where they would
[00:11:27] come to the arcade a lot on weekends and play and stuff.
[00:11:29] So there was kind of a local group that we played.
[00:11:33] Cool.
[00:11:35] But it wasn't until I think I did a Colorado tournament, probably after I certainly
[00:11:42] after I graduated.
[00:11:45] And so I didn't really take it too seriously, although I loved it and enjoyed it.
[00:11:49] But I didn't take it too seriously until probably 10 or so years ago.
[00:11:55] Really?
[00:11:56] You guys are both late bloopers.
[00:11:58] Yeah.
[00:11:59] That's amazing.
[00:12:01] And so I got to say, you know, after what is it?
[00:12:06] Since 1975, since I started playing Bonsini.
[00:12:10] I wasn't aware of tournaments either.
[00:12:12] But you know, I thought, man, you know, by the time I'm 65, I should be some further
[00:12:17] along than beginner but you know, stuff happens.
[00:12:23] Man.
[00:12:24] Maybe I'd just go guys.
[00:12:27] Yeah.
[00:12:30] They're all over the tour now.
[00:12:31] Yeah, right.
[00:12:32] Randy knows all about that.
[00:12:34] Yeah.
[00:12:35] I think I'm more like reading the love of Fruisball.
[00:12:38] Oh, it is.
[00:12:39] Yeah.
[00:12:40] It is.
[00:12:41] It's got such an age range to play competitively.
[00:12:44] It's fun.
[00:12:45] Mm-hmm.
[00:12:46] Mm-hmm.
[00:12:47] Oh yeah.
[00:12:48] And of course somebody like Todd LaFredo who's, you know, of that Denver scene.
[00:12:52] My God.
[00:12:53] I mean, what's he 63 now?
[00:12:56] 94.
[00:12:57] Yeah.
[00:12:58] 94.
[00:13:00] But no, it's, it is amazing that he's still at the top, you know, really can be very competitive
[00:13:06] in the top 10 for sure.
[00:13:08] Yeah.
[00:13:09] He's 63, 63, 60.
[00:13:11] Something like that.
[00:13:12] You know how old he is because they changed the limit for senior events.
[00:13:16] Is that what it is?
[00:13:17] Something like that.
[00:13:18] Yeah.
[00:13:19] Yeah.
[00:13:20] We moved it up a year.
[00:13:21] Yeah, every year they bump it up according to how old he is.
[00:13:23] So, uh, yeah, that's kind of like so.
[00:13:25] Yeah, 63 now.
[00:13:26] He's the bar I guess.
[00:13:28] I've never struggled with him but I feel like someone said he felt bad for winning the
[00:13:33] probably not, but when that ITSF gold seniors like it wasn't just in no contest.
[00:13:39] Yeah.
[00:13:40] Seriously?
[00:13:41] I don't know about feeling bad, but yeah, right?
[00:13:43] Yeah.
[00:13:44] I think maybe they were saying why is he playing this?
[00:13:46] Because he can.
[00:13:47] Why is he allowed?
[00:13:48] It's allowed.
[00:13:49] Because he can why shouldn't he be allowed?
[00:13:50] Come on man.
[00:13:51] Sure.
[00:13:52] He should 100% be allowed.
[00:13:53] Yeah.
[00:13:54] Yeah.
[00:13:55] Yeah.
[00:13:56] Oh, seriously?
[00:13:57] Oh, look at somebody else Steve.
[00:13:58] Steve Biny.
[00:13:59] I mean he's you know, he's up there and he's still really competitive.
[00:14:03] Well, the thing now with the 50 and over like you okay.
[00:14:06] So I'll look.
[00:14:07] Terry Rue over 50.
[00:14:09] Ron Olson over 50 Mike Philbrook over 50.
[00:14:13] There are and that's just a few of the master players that are now over 50 playing 50
[00:14:17] and over trying to qualify to get on the senior team.
[00:14:20] The senior team.
[00:14:22] Our senior team is going to be stacked dude.
[00:14:24] Stacked.
[00:14:25] Yeah.
[00:14:26] Stacked.
[00:14:27] Oh yeah, him Tracy although yeah, but the problem those guys have been on the regular team.
[00:14:33] So you know now it's like you've got you know, you don't do well.
[00:14:38] Well no, you either play on one or the other so like you got you know, you got Blake,
[00:14:43] Blake Tony Ryan Billy.
[00:14:45] I can't I mean I'm just saying like they could they could fill up the normal the regular
[00:14:51] team with masters in their late 20s and 30s.
[00:14:56] And even in their 40s and then the senior team could just be you know, a bunch of Hall of Fame
[00:15:00] world champions if they wanted to be and then they could go crush they go crush the seniors.
[00:15:05] They think you know, dude, it could be terrible.
[00:15:08] But you know, I'm interested to see what the world cup is going to look like.
[00:15:14] You know, I you know being just a fan of Fuzball.
[00:15:17] I love watching that stuff.
[00:15:19] I love multi table Fuzball and all that good stuff, but anyway.
[00:15:25] So I want to talk to you guys about your win.
[00:15:28] Was this the first time you guys ever played together?
[00:15:32] Like at a big one.
[00:15:34] Yeah, I have a beat for sure.
[00:15:36] Yeah.
[00:15:37] So you guys you guys played a I know you played some locals.
[00:15:41] I think you guys played that last one you had in Nox.
[00:15:43] You guys have been running some good stuff in Noxville man.
[00:15:46] I just I want to tell everybody on the stream now if you if you haven't been to Noxville
[00:15:51] to play Fuzball, you have to make.
[00:15:54] You have to make a trip because what they're doing in Noxville is outstanding.
[00:15:59] The groups wonderful.
[00:16:00] The locations great.
[00:16:01] They are awesome.
[00:16:03] They the stickers go for the stickers because the stickers all the ones right behind
[00:16:08] you, Randy.
[00:16:09] Yeah, I got them all on my table right here.
[00:16:11] You got.
[00:16:12] I got the.
[00:16:13] Yeah, shout out the Thomas.
[00:16:15] Yeah, Thomas.
[00:16:16] And you know everything going to those the go for the stickers man.
[00:16:21] I still remember one of the first times I just drove through like I was driving a Massachusetts.
[00:16:27] Like I just left my house one night was driving a Massachusetts and I was like I'm gonna
[00:16:30] stop in it was a Tuesday night.
[00:16:32] I know you guys plan Tuesday.
[00:16:33] I popped in and then Thomas was like dude.
[00:16:37] He gave me a keychain some stickers.
[00:16:38] He's like thanks for coming out.
[00:16:39] I played Fuzball for like an hour and then I got in the car and took off.
[00:16:43] And it just welcoming everything's great.
[00:16:45] The one days you guys run are outstanding.
[00:16:47] You knock it out people need to make an effort to get to Noxville and support the Fuzball.
[00:16:52] I know I know Eddie's there and Eddie got promoted the year and look I love Eddie.
[00:16:59] I love Eddie.
[00:17:00] Eddie's a good dude loves Fuzball and then Chase came along and Chase is a great teacher
[00:17:05] and I've seen the group.
[00:17:07] The level of play start to improve and you guys winning amateur singles also people might
[00:17:13] not know but two guys from Knoxville won rookie doubles.
[00:17:17] You guys won amateur doubles.
[00:17:18] TKO.
[00:17:19] That's right so Knoxville starting to put it then in the scene and people need to recognize
[00:17:25] what's going on.
[00:17:26] Chase is a great teacher.
[00:17:28] Road to Pro is his YouTube series if anybody's interested.
[00:17:32] Great stuff.
[00:17:33] Yes.
[00:17:34] So you guys have played some locals this with your first one.
[00:17:37] You went out, you knocked it out of the park, you won amateur doubles.
[00:17:40] Do you retire now?
[00:17:41] Are you done?
[00:17:42] Where do you go from here?
[00:17:44] We're not done.
[00:17:46] Yeah, no we got to we'll have to take on.
[00:17:50] Sorry, Rebecca.
[00:17:51] I think you may be on mute.
[00:17:54] They will have to get on the next one for sure.
[00:17:58] I don't know when it'll be.
[00:17:59] Worlds are nationals or what have you but.
[00:18:04] Well for you, I think we're two for two Rob.
[00:18:09] We played the amateur in under event in Knoxville one in and then the next one we played was
[00:18:16] five feet of it so we get it we're close to winning street.
[00:18:22] Rob, we're having a tough time here.
[00:18:24] There you are there you are.
[00:18:27] Yep, I can hear you better now.
[00:18:28] There you go.
[00:18:30] OK, I'll speak up a little bit.
[00:18:32] God you're good.
[00:18:34] So, so you guys are two for two right?
[00:18:38] So talk about your run through the bracket and amateur doubles.
[00:18:42] You guys have any nail biters tough teams like you know, you got you guys double dipped right?
[00:18:47] You came through the losers correct?
[00:18:50] Now it was straight through it.
[00:18:51] No, you guys went straight through.
[00:18:52] OK, OK, cool.
[00:18:54] So was it was it easy?
[00:18:56] It's struggle anything?
[00:18:59] No, it was there's no easy.
[00:19:01] It just yeah, nothing's easy.
[00:19:04] But I do remember playing Hunter and Dylan the first time we ran into him and it was I believe
[00:19:09] it went three games.
[00:19:11] And I think that's right afterwards.
[00:19:13] I said that's if that's not the toughest team we've played they are you know second and
[00:19:18] of course we meet them in the finals.
[00:19:20] Yeah, yeah, we got started off in that bracket.
[00:19:23] It was a bit dicey.
[00:19:24] Yeah, we had to play.
[00:19:25] Toria Joe who you mentioned who won rookie doubles who are our local buds.
[00:19:29] We had to play them our first match up, which is always scary playing someone you know
[00:19:34] that you've always been weak for years.
[00:19:36] It's the tougher game.
[00:19:38] Yeah, we were about when I think actually went three games too.
[00:19:41] We were happy to get through that.
[00:19:45] And then we played our next match which I frankly I don't remember what happened in
[00:19:49] that match, but then we waited our do recall like seven hours.
[00:19:53] Seven.
[00:19:54] Seven hours.
[00:19:55] Seven hours.
[00:19:56] That's the curse of the kids.
[00:19:57] It's Sarah Money.
[00:19:58] Yeah, you know they had the news there for the finals match like everything went against
[00:20:03] us and we had it like one thirty in the morning.
[00:20:07] Oh man.
[00:20:08] So okay so this is good.
[00:20:10] I want to talk about this right?
[00:20:12] So so what do you do?
[00:20:15] Do you eat?
[00:20:16] Do you take an app?
[00:20:17] Do you stay on the table?
[00:20:18] What did you guys do each of you separately maybe Rob you go first.
[00:20:22] What do you do?
[00:20:23] What's your mindset going through this break wondering when you're going to play?
[00:20:28] How do you stay warm?
[00:20:29] Do you do you hydrate drink water?
[00:20:31] You get drunk.
[00:20:32] You do drugs.
[00:20:33] What do you do man?
[00:20:34] I want to know.
[00:20:35] I want to listen to who's football.
[00:20:38] Who's ball players are different man so like what's the process for you you know sitting
[00:20:43] for seven hours before you go play?
[00:20:46] Yeah, I don't remember exactly what I did this time, but I will stay busy.
[00:20:50] I do try and stay warm.
[00:20:53] Actually I think it got to the point though where I went up and took a nap.
[00:20:57] There you go.
[00:20:58] And woke up to my phone going off and me having to run down and play but sometimes
[00:21:03] I play better at like that so anyway I do try and stay I'll play a lot just to try
[00:21:09] and stay loose and from my past history I do better when I play one match after another
[00:21:17] after another and just keep going.
[00:21:19] Of course, of course.
[00:21:22] What about you Greg?
[00:21:24] What would you do?
[00:21:25] Yeah well I tried to try to set up other events so I don't have to sit as long.
[00:21:31] So I had a couple extra events that I just sprinkled in there to really stay warm.
[00:21:37] Now I did expert doubles.
[00:21:39] We did not play well in expert doubles.
[00:21:40] I played with Thomas.
[00:21:43] I had a couple of single events going on but other than that yeah I mean I like to
[00:21:47] get I go in there and eat.
[00:21:49] Okay.
[00:21:50] At TKO they get that nice restaurant now.
[00:21:51] Oh yeah.
[00:21:52] Yeah.
[00:21:53] It's a big upgrade.
[00:21:54] Yeah.
[00:21:55] But yes it and then I try to come back.
[00:21:58] Try to time it so I'll come back and can warm up for maybe 30 minutes or so before
[00:22:02] game and then watch it like especially if I haven't seen the guys play before.
[00:22:06] I'll you know bounce around track the tables.
[00:22:09] Yeah.
[00:22:10] Scouting.
[00:22:11] Scouting is big.
[00:22:12] Yeah that's big.
[00:22:13] Did you, did you you know, did you try the filet the restaurant?
[00:22:16] No.
[00:22:17] I didn't.
[00:22:18] No I did.
[00:22:19] Actually made a mistake.
[00:22:20] I got this weird shrimp thing.
[00:22:21] I was trying to like not.
[00:22:22] Did you get the shrimp shrimp shrimp shrimp grits?
[00:22:24] No I got like the shrimp scampy thing.
[00:22:26] Oh the scampy.
[00:22:27] Yeah.
[00:22:28] I'm going to pass on that next time.
[00:22:30] Yeah.
[00:22:31] It's great for the chicken sandwich or something.
[00:22:32] Yeah I'm weird about that.
[00:22:33] Nah man.
[00:22:34] Listen you can't miss with the filet.
[00:22:35] I'm telling you.
[00:22:36] Yeah.
[00:22:37] I think I had like seven or eight filets throughout the weekend.
[00:22:40] So I guess I go I go filet with mashed potatoes and then and then that corn, that little
[00:22:45] corn.
[00:22:46] It was like, oh it's just yeah.
[00:22:49] I felt it on the way out.
[00:22:51] It was good though worth it.
[00:22:52] You know what?
[00:22:53] This explains a lot Randy because every time I talk to you especially you know getting
[00:22:57] ready to go in there like hey man I'm going to go I'm going to go to bed.
[00:23:00] I'll see you later.
[00:23:01] As soon as we're done I'm out.
[00:23:03] Yeah I'm out.
[00:23:04] Listen listen I'm on the clock bro.
[00:23:06] I'm like I'm what they call regular every day.
[00:23:09] It's the same things.
[00:23:10] So anyway.
[00:23:11] Eight filets.
[00:23:12] I'm out.
[00:23:13] So I'm out.
[00:23:16] Delicious right?
[00:23:17] They were the that restaurant's huge upgrade.
[00:23:20] Oh yeah.
[00:23:21] So did you guys play pro or open doubles by any chance either one of you?
[00:23:26] No Rob.
[00:23:27] I played pro singles I believe but it no doubles.
[00:23:33] Okay because I wanted to ask you guys so even though you didn't play what did you guys
[00:23:37] think about the championship format?
[00:23:39] Did you like it?
[00:23:40] Were you opposed to it?
[00:23:41] Like what do you think about it?
[00:23:42] I like it.
[00:23:43] I mean so as if I'm promoting I love it.
[00:23:47] If I'm playing I thought it was for me watching I liked it because I don't think I've actually
[00:23:54] watched the finals match in a long time before this.
[00:23:57] I was genuinely I was like all right this is done.
[00:23:59] I don't have to wait three hours for them to play the next two, three match up to come
[00:24:04] back.
[00:24:07] It's not like extremely late at night.
[00:24:10] I enjoyed it as certainly a controversial topic.
[00:24:15] Yeah.
[00:24:16] Now Rob you I think you played open singles because I think we played each other.
[00:24:20] I think you might have been my first match in open singles.
[00:24:23] Yeah yeah so what did you?
[00:24:28] What effect you so I really I mean my initial thought was I didn't like it but again it didn't
[00:24:36] affect me so but in past tournaments you know when you get a chance to come back and
[00:24:42] double dip somebody that's huge.
[00:24:44] So from that standpoint I get the advantage of being able to come back and double dip
[00:24:50] but I also get the championship format too.
[00:24:54] So you know IFP is talking about making all events championship format right so that would
[00:25:00] include amateur expert rookie like how do you guys feel about that if they were to make
[00:25:06] if they were to make the lower ranked events championship format do you guys think I mean
[00:25:10] you know we can you can disagree but I feel like this tournament ran really really well
[00:25:17] with those formats right like it was over 300 players Sunday night done before midnight
[00:25:24] that's I mean that doesn't really have that's amazing so what do you guys think about them
[00:25:29] making rookie amateur expert also championship format do you agree disagree like what are your
[00:25:33] thoughts?
[00:25:34] If they do that they need to see they need to see the brackets absolutely yeah I think
[00:25:40] they do that regardless but yeah I mean it would have made for a quicker bracket in our
[00:25:49] I was telling Tori and Joel like we got to do championship bracket I was like man I kind
[00:25:54] of wish they had it right now we'd be done we'd are to move it hard to be over right?
[00:25:59] Basically the last tournament I'm all for it
[00:26:03] Cool I don't I did anybody ever look like did anybody get double dipped
[00:26:08] there was a TKO I mean I don't even know and like the
[00:26:13] So so Dustin we had Dustin and Ben on
[00:26:19] I don't I don't think they I thought they won the winners bracket
[00:26:25] They did they I think they did won the winners okay somebody in twitch in the stream correct us if
[00:26:32] we're wrong yes in the chat and then you know you know obviously Tori and his partner that
[00:26:39] they win the winners bracket of their event yeah because yeah if you if you have the ability to
[00:26:47] pull the brackets up I know an amateur singles they did have King's seed they want okay so and I
[00:26:54] know an amateur singles my buddy Matthew Contoise um he that was that guy an amateur by the way right
[00:27:03] I really well see I've heard that someplace before okay so he got he got a set in and then lost
[00:27:11] in the second set so there was no dip no dip in amateur no either singles or doubles
[00:27:17] rookie I'm not sure about the singles and then expert there was a dip because Ivan double dipped
[00:27:23] Taha yeah okay Ivan double dip Taha so there was one dip there was a
[00:27:29] singles double dip to well so two dips for the weekend so uh look I'm gonna be honest with my
[00:27:36] the the two pro titles I have were both out of the losers bracket right so I'm I'm I get it right
[00:27:45] but at the same time I feel like you just just play good just play good and don't lose
[00:27:53] yeah and so for pro events now they're making them three out of five which I think is really
[00:28:00] I think it's freaking great man so much more it's gonna make a huge difference yeah I think it's gonna
[00:28:05] then they did I think you gotta make it uh so they didn't doubles they didn't in singles
[00:28:09] they made the call they made the call a little late but going forward pro singles and doubles are
[00:28:14] gonna be three out of five one by two just like open and I think that's I think that's huge
[00:28:19] I think that's gonna be a really big deal so um I'm I personally I'm excited so yeah um
[00:28:26] yeah yeah so what did you guys think is the uh the camera coverage with television coverage for
[00:28:32] the for the open singles and I believe they are what was it the open doubles too wasn't it
[00:28:36] was or was it just singles yeah that was that was astounding and everybody was there watching
[00:28:43] I mean it what a what an exciting moment with Ryan and and Tommy your wow yeah really that was
[00:28:50] worth the price of admission right there it was good yes that's that's one of those
[00:28:54] missions as the first one I think I've watched all the way through in a long time um and it
[00:28:59] was a great match but yeah oh yeah yeah yeah yeah uh Ryan did you read the new story no they had
[00:29:08] a new story yeah from the from the TV channel Kentucky yeah no no I can't read sorry
[00:29:19] he likes the big pictures I never learned to repeat no I just know look look I don't know if you
[00:29:25] guys know this about me but I'm not on Facebook and I have social media so I don't keep up with
[00:29:29] a whole lot of stuff so everything I hear I get you know secondhand information or I just get
[00:29:35] it straight from the was as mouth so I know that if it wasn't for the fire there's no news crew so
[00:29:43] I feel like something was intentionally done to get the new I don't look I pulled up it was fire
[00:29:49] trucks everywhere and I left to go eat so you know it is it is what it is so let me okay let me ask
[00:29:56] you guys another question finals coming up you know you guys are getting psyched up to play the final
[00:30:01] um what's your mindset going into uh final this big right amateur there was like 400 teams in amateur
[00:30:08] doubles it was big right amateur team field kickoff yeah right it was huge
[00:30:13] amazing no but realistically at what there was a lot of teams in that event right so you guys
[00:30:18] you have a game plan you know how are you feeling are you excited are you nervous do you talk or
[00:30:24] you just like you know what we're just gonna do what we've been doing like kind of walk us through
[00:30:29] this final how tough was it how many games how did it look give us you know give us some insight please
[00:30:36] the uh well I was I was thankful to get there first off because uh about had a mental breakdown
[00:30:45] getting robbed at the table for the semi final match this is this was the nappy spoke of before
[00:30:50] and we're on we're on recall like double recall like 30 seconds left and I'm like I can see him
[00:30:57] running through the parking lot outside and that luckily the other guy was a good sport about he
[00:31:03] didn't want to win that way cool yeah he waited for us um but yeah I don't know you know the final match was
[00:31:11] like and the rob said we had played them the night before so we had a decent idea of what we were
[00:31:17] getting into so you know game plan with the the five bar in our positioning front first bag we just
[00:31:24] really we went over the same game plan as they did the night before and it just it worked out I
[00:31:31] did not play well I don't know if you you so they they didn't they didn't they didn't adjust like
[00:31:38] the other team didn't they didn't come and do anything different they just kind of they figured
[00:31:42] we're gonna do what we've been doing and see if the you know see if the outcome is different yeah
[00:31:46] they had a true forward and a true goal they so I mean there how they were set up was dealing
[00:31:52] with going to play front and hunter was gonna play in the uh fully so yeah there's just pretty
[00:31:57] straightforward um I honestly don't know if you didn't watch the match that played that
[00:32:03] big that game too was the worst game I played all weekend um but luckily we won but they um
[00:32:12] they were a tough team Dylan's really good that fraud I didn't do anything against his five bar
[00:32:18] defensively Rob was just an absolute wall back there so he really just carried me in that final
[00:32:25] that's great Rob's rough man Rob's a good player at any point did you guys have to switch
[00:32:30] you bring that right arm now you know up front to shoot a bull shot or yeah buddy we did
[00:32:37] took me three times to get in there I was watching the video earlier tonight I watched it one
[00:32:40] other time but um but yeah it took me three times you know that whole taking your time thing man
[00:32:46] that's huge right yeah man I'm happy to expect for Hunter and Dylan they they played awesome
[00:32:52] and Hunter man he kept so composed I was just really impressed with him at his age just how well
[00:32:58] he played and you know he yeah those guys played awesome yeah talking about young guys hunter is 12
[00:33:05] years old he was playing goal for yeah exactly and uh I feel pretty fortunate to get a win off of them
[00:33:11] right now I still 12 yeah fours I think in the rookie and amateur brackets for the next little bit
[00:33:20] it's uh I remember that yeah that was that was Bob I kept calling him Bob he was running around the
[00:33:25] tables I kept calling him Bob yeah I can't I can't play and then the other Dylan he won
[00:33:30] amateur that was a kid of one amateur singles right he won amateur singles and I think he
[00:33:35] think he won Colorado did he had a big win out there right that yeah that joker's good man he put me
[00:33:42] in Kristen the loses bracket and opened up he three straight at us and opened doubles man that kid
[00:33:47] took his time nice five smooth good shot like he beats for for being a amateur he doesn't play
[00:33:54] like an amateur very well composed uh he played he played really well he had me had a good weekend you
[00:33:59] know finals of amateur doubles finals of amateur singles uh you know shout out to to that kid Dylan
[00:34:06] Dylan knew some correct yes yeah man you guys that's that's a good win for you guys and that's a tough
[00:34:12] team so you know that's that's big now going into the final um you know again I know you guys have
[00:34:19] Chase and Eddie like this Eddie come up to you and give you advice and you guys go well we're just
[00:34:24] gonna do whatever like the opposite of whatever Eddie says okay the dragon true miss
[00:34:32] that's where yeah you just do the opposite of whatever Eddie says and you'll be good so all right
[00:34:37] I just I wanted to make sure we threw that out there I know he's watching because the song postal
[00:34:41] I love you Eddie I love you yeah last time I was in Knoxville last time I was in Knoxville every time Eddie
[00:34:47] shot the ball the floor moved the whole floor the whole floor oh dude listen listen Eddie Eddie is
[00:34:55] made of stone Eddie's you know Eddie's one of those guys man you don't want to get his hands on
[00:35:00] you he will snap you like a twig sweetest hi I love him but he's working on it he's working on it
[00:35:06] he says he is practicing with his table unlocked so he can know when he's lifting the table really
[00:35:13] so he's working on it there we go that's great that's great you go Eddie yeah it's wonderful yeah he
[00:35:21] need he needs to do that what he needs to do is he needs to take he needs to make sure it's unlocked
[00:35:26] and then he needs to take the hinges off the other side that's how he's really gonna know it's working
[00:35:31] is when he does that so yeah let's go he's subtle he's subtle what can he say he's not subtle not even a
[00:35:38] little bit no no I love you Ed yeah that's my guy but yeah so so what's the rest of the year
[00:35:45] looking like for you guys I mean obviously Greg I know you know you're probably you'll hit worlds
[00:35:50] and if they run the battle in Nashville again you'll probably be there but you have any other
[00:35:56] planes are like what's what's what's Knoxville looking like if you want to you know you want to
[00:36:02] talk about any of the Knoxville stuff yeah I'm gonna do my best to hit a bunch of the locals up
[00:36:08] the uh it turns out either did they announce the nationals okay so I'll tell you what I know
[00:36:15] yeah I'll tell you what I tell you what I know okay no no no no I'll tell you what I know okay so
[00:36:25] obviously everybody knows that the hotel in Colorado got sold so nationals will not
[00:36:31] and it's it's a mix there's no more national that's not gonna happen there so I have a very
[00:36:36] reliable source and I asked them this is the only question I asked I said is it gonna be in the south
[00:36:44] and they said it's gonna be in the south baby and I said okay that's all I need to know because if
[00:36:48] it's in the south I can thrive there so we're good yeah you're gonna be a drama about where the
[00:36:53] south actually is when the location well listen the mason the mason Dixon line runs through Maryland okay
[00:37:01] where where where so hang on it will be right in between the two that'd be a
[00:37:09] personally but look I don't know I don't know I look I'm not crossing my fingers I don't know where
[00:37:15] it's gonna be okay but in my in my gullet I feel like it's either gonna be New Orleans or Atlanta
[00:37:24] that's how I feel I don't know okay that's what I that's what I think I hope it's Atlanta yeah I can get
[00:37:31] there in half hours right personally I wish it was in Birmingham because I'm 30 minutes away right
[00:37:37] if Knoxville had a major airport I'd say let's do it in Knoxville because that would be right
[00:37:41] right and the land would be perfect yeah they don't have $79 room rates anywhere I think it's in Atlanta
[00:37:47] bro what do you have you ever seen the super eight in downtown Atlanta
[00:37:55] you can listen you can there are so many things you can buy at that hotel and then there's
[00:37:59] things you can get for free that you don't want to take home yeah yeah who's that but that's
[00:38:05] well free and ugly nationals wherever it may be that maybe the one that I can make otherwise
[00:38:11] we'll see how close it is yeah but yeah it will be what we write in our locals I know Randy you've
[00:38:15] come up to a few of them but we do a lot of one days I think we're gonna run we're gonna try to
[00:38:20] run them every month it will skip months in which there's like a major just to give a break so like
[00:38:25] we want anything after worlds after Thanksgiving probably not in December but yeah we're gonna run
[00:38:32] at BYP in April and then I know we've got some non-pro events and some draws and some no two
[00:38:38] pros and stuff cool and that's how to run it yeah we got we got a break
[00:38:45] you and Chris up we still want you to come up here you have to fix somebody else
[00:38:52] so you're ready so yeah I mean Tom said you know we run the Swiss format yes on a bad we'll do six
[00:39:00] or seven rounds and we'll take the top 16 that's the way it goes so it divides very nicely with
[00:39:06] 16 teams very efficient when just two rounds are two that's a lot of foosball by the way playing
[00:39:13] played a lot of foosball that way you know really really like that so the first time I did I drove
[00:39:24] home and it was fun because I'm it's like five hours it wasn't bad the last time my wife and I we
[00:39:30] just so we'd like to go to pigeon forge so we went up for the weekend so I was actually up there
[00:39:35] and it was like an hour ride into downtown I played and then I went back to the cabin so
[00:39:40] and and I you know I like doing that it's it's we just enjoy going up there so anytime you guys
[00:39:48] want to run something I can probably almost always go because I just tell my wife we're gonna
[00:39:53] go get a cab and and then I can go play who's done so it's a win-win yeah done yes
[00:39:58] the goals they get done by 10 to 10 30 of the latest so that's cool yeah we of course you know
[00:40:06] we're in a bar so we're a little bit restricted to them closing which we ran into an issue running
[00:40:11] a true devil elimination bit last fall so we didn't want that to happen again so we switched it
[00:40:19] out we've done two or three of these now and they work they've been working pretty darn well
[00:40:26] I remember that event because I went and I won both I won both both events that you had
[00:40:31] I want to drive the brink oh really oh real I remember okay thank you for that
[00:40:39] I'm listening I'm humble what do you want from him I'm a humble guy what do you want
[00:40:45] I give I'll give Raydie just this is just his head's gonna not gonna fit the screen
[00:40:49] anymore and they give him I'm gonna give him a minute well 1% credit for my mindset in Kentucky
[00:40:57] I took it he called me out in our local event in January from doing a stupid shot
[00:41:04] when I wasn't on a quote PowerPoint and thought about that all weekend about not doing something dumb
[00:41:11] in a close game so it probably can't be from doing something silly and giving it just
[00:41:17] that point so you just got to minimize the stupid body that's all you got to do
[00:41:22] that tape would have gone in yeah no no I didn't really got you got to minimize the stupid
[00:41:29] buddy I'm telling you especially when you're up uh-uh that was a bad move I don't remember
[00:41:34] I remember that I didn't forget that I'm like oh oh oh oh and then you did it and oh
[00:41:40] nope no yeah yeah Tom this Tom Tom this Joker was up they were up like three two they're playing
[00:41:47] Eddie and Chase they were up this Joker I'm like Greg's five has gotten so good it's just I mean
[00:41:52] nice it's gotten really nice and and he's getting the ball getting the ball and then this Joker
[00:41:57] shoot to dank oh I miss executed it was day two but three two to go up you were up three two I mean
[00:42:07] I feel like it was yeah Raydie's Rob's fall Rob told me to hit shoot the date literally at the time
[00:42:17] I got a bump roasted in different Adam yeah I get gonna listen to your teammate sometimes hey Chris
[00:42:22] tells me all the time coming out of time out she goes hey uh shoot that far while slingshot or
[00:42:26] tell you something like that right and I go I go okay and then I don't but one of these days
[00:42:32] I'm going to do it and then I'm gonna look him and go hey you told me right I just do what you said
[00:42:36] so the thing is if you make if you make it you're the hero and if you don't you're the zero
[00:42:41] so right that's it man but but you got to understand it's all part of the progression right you learn
[00:42:46] you learn you learn in the losses that's how I feel like I lose and I learn like nobody walks away
[00:42:53] from a win and goes what did I learn right like I won I got here so when you lose that's when you go
[00:43:00] okay why yeah what happened that's that's my thing every tournament it's like what's the take away
[00:43:04] what you know even that even when I go I play well I win an event I still go okay if I'm not learning
[00:43:11] I'm not progressing so what's the take away and then I just I have this conversation with myself
[00:43:16] the matches I did lose I playing back in my head and and that's one of the really nice things about
[00:43:21] inside foos now where I don't know if you got you know you guys have been playing tournament foosball
[00:43:25] for like six years now right but in the early 2000s pros even pros really didn't get into inside
[00:43:33] foos tables 1 2 3 4 5 how many tables were in the pits that was master only area right so true
[00:43:41] the matches you would see were only master level foosball right it was more of a learning tool which
[00:43:46] is fine but now that you know players like us are getting to play on those tables and getting
[00:43:53] to actually be on inside foos we can go back and critique ourselves so you know inside foos is
[00:43:59] a really great learning tool I mean now like with modern because you know like Clay and Adam
[00:44:05] are recording matches yeah yeah yeah you know like having the ability to to to watch yourself like
[00:44:13] like you said Rob you went back and you watched the match you know it really it really is a great
[00:44:19] learning tool to help you improve quickly so but what's the rest of your year you're looking like
[00:44:28] I'm hoping for Vegas not hoping for Vegas I there's like pretty much planning on Vegas
[00:44:34] and then hoping for Colorado State and then Nationals we'll see if Nationals is close and yeah I'd
[00:44:41] really like to go to Nationals sure nice there you go Greg's in the locals yeah well Greg's in
[00:44:52] Greg's hitting locals Greg's murdering locals he's going to worlds and and Asheville maybe Nationals
[00:44:58] so you know are you guys going to keep playing together at locals are you going to mix it up or like
[00:45:03] are we seeing the birth of a potential long-term relationship here more you guys is this a one-off
[00:45:09] like what's what's the plan oh you know I don't know I mean I think we just we played well together
[00:45:16] you were talking earlier about having a plan ahead of time and stuff and I think since we played
[00:45:20] together well in in Knoxville we didn't really have to talk too much about a game plan you know other
[00:45:26] than when he's up front he's got his man down and ready for a pass it gives me a target and when
[00:45:33] we switch same kind of thing um and so other than that it was just you know hey no just let's just
[00:45:41] kick some butt there you go yeah and our games are you know the offensive the three rods are
[00:45:47] totally different so like obviously Rob doesn't at least I've never seen you shoot a roller but
[00:45:53] yeah yeah yes I mean he's just got the hammer pull kick and the hammer pull um and I don't so
[00:46:02] just that switch up on a timeout like the speed is just totally different point of view at least
[00:46:08] he's like chase I mean he has zero patience immediately goes for the rolling pool dead bar
[00:46:15] and it's almost always there especially lower in the lower ranks I mean and so if you need
[00:46:21] a quick one that's what we switched and he got it there in the final and that just we were down
[00:46:27] so he asked about game count we won that game and that match in two games but
[00:46:32] the first game Rob I think you scored two us for three that we actually we kind of breeze
[00:46:36] through that and a little bit but this the second game was really rough we were down three one
[00:46:42] and I think we went through maybe like four or five shots of just getting I just couldn't do anything
[00:46:48] I couldn't catch paths I could score and then Rob switched hit one and then the floodgates have
[00:46:56] been I hit my next two we switched back I hit my next two off the drops oh passes and really
[00:47:00] Rob bearated for the last one like it's three one it was five three and like but then 45 seconds
[00:47:06] nice nice I watched that match before the before the podcast and uh that fourth ball well
[00:47:14] fifth ball I guess because yeah it was three one it lasted forever I'm like oh my god how when is
[00:47:19] this ball gonna go I could remember I'm pretty sure we could I couldn't remember how but just
[00:47:24] watching it was like holy cow is that ball lasted I don't know but it was a long time that and that
[00:47:31] turned the tide I'm always curious about uh in situations like that when you're when the ball
[00:47:35] is going on forever never never is that is that a strategic moment where you think about this
[00:47:40] good time to take a time out step away from the table oh for sure absolutely it's like it took me um
[00:47:48] I kept they had so Dylan and Hunter they got up three one um they scored their first goal
[00:47:56] switched on the drop and so um Hunter was that fraud under got the ball I don't know if he stole
[00:48:04] it or whatever but he got the ball in five called a timeout real quick scored did the same thing
[00:48:09] right again so it's three one and they were out of timeouts really Dylan was in the back
[00:48:14] and so Dylan was he was kind of stuck back there so I that really didn't want to call a timeout
[00:48:19] to get him the opportunity to switch so I probably probably probably took one to me shots
[00:48:26] certainly one or two more than I would have had Hunter been back there
[00:48:29] so to balance that out with yeah I didn't want to have an opportunity to switch back yeah
[00:48:34] and I think you know that that kind of hurt him at the end because we had some big points there
[00:48:41] that they couldn't switch with the momentum we had yeah yeah well they that look they choked
[00:48:49] they choked out one man there were three and one and and you know just like a basic game plan
[00:48:54] in Fuzball is get ahead stay ahead right like you you you you burn your timeouts early using your
[00:49:00] switches to get ahead you have to maximize your possessions to stay ahead so you know they
[00:49:06] they they they implemented their game plan but they didn't obviously capitalize and finish so
[00:49:16] but sometimes you know realizing in the moment like you said it's like I don't know if I want
[00:49:21] to call this timeout because I don't want them to switch it's it you know it's a double-edged sword
[00:49:27] I've been in the same position it's rough right but ultimately you know you guys made
[00:49:33] good switches good decisions and and the outcome you know if you play good the outcome is going to
[00:49:39] be what it is right I've told people before if my my goal is to just play consistent Fuzball and
[00:49:45] the results are gonna be what they are if somebody plays better than me I can't be mad if they beat
[00:49:49] me so obviously the better team won right so you know and and and the team dynamic like like Greg
[00:49:56] pointed out you know Rob shooting a pull shot Greg shooting a roll over that's I think sometimes
[00:50:03] players really underestimate that type of team dynamic right like you know like Chris on myself
[00:50:10] again I can only speak about myself I can't talk about other teams but you know our passing styles
[00:50:16] different our defensive styles different our shots are different I shoot a roll over he shoots a
[00:50:20] pull shot I told Chris before I'm like dude let's just play Roto let's play Roto and keep I'm not
[00:50:26] looking I'm all about stuff like that because it's like no the team they're never gonna get comfortable
[00:50:32] right how can they ever get comfortable and adjust to what we're doing so you know having
[00:50:36] that type of team dynamic is great for you know for two players like you completely different styles
[00:50:41] different shots the you know the approach is different so you know I think like I said the
[00:50:48] win is a really really big win I really hope you guys understand yeah how big of a win this is
[00:50:55] for you guys and if you guys just keep you know just keep pushing forward I mean you know this
[00:51:01] could be the start of something big you know what's what's the practice like obviously you guys play
[00:51:06] your locals and stuff but how much table time are you putting in during the week any couple hours
[00:51:11] a couple minutes what like what do you guys do Rob's do for a rocket ship lift rocket ship I've
[00:51:19] done even have a table Rob doesn't have a table I had a table I moved to Knoxville and so yeah that's
[00:51:26] that's definitely on the radar in the near futures to get a table so that yeah I can practice Greg
[00:51:32] and I were talking about this the other day it's just man just 10 15 minutes doing some passing
[00:51:37] mm-hmm yep that's what I give that's probably what I do I mean I'd probably do 15 minutes maybe
[00:51:44] here or there and I do if my wife's watching she's probably gonna come down here saying line but
[00:51:49] yeah it feels like 10 or 15 minutes maybe 20 every day I try to do it every day yeah
[00:51:56] um it's mainly five bar yeah five bar just keep it warm yeah yeah number five bar I had basically
[00:52:07] I lived on my brush up all we came along Dylan was the only one that really blocked it in both
[00:52:13] rookie and the amateur events he said the laymore and so I just had to get brushed down which was
[00:52:19] thankfully working as well now I added up my stats uh in that because I was curious I was one for
[00:52:27] nine 11% in my brush up who catching it four oh wow I was I was seven of eight brush down
[00:52:36] okay so I decided to go back I mean I had no answer for you but that was the same thing from
[00:52:41] the night before he left the brush down open he sent a lane the whole time so it's so again you got
[00:52:49] you gotta take it just take it yeah it's there take it take it take it now it's too stubborn I wanted
[00:52:55] the one that was gonna look good on camera oh yeah you know it looks good on camera that picture
[00:53:01] you guys holding that first place black there's good on camera right sometimes you got to win ugly man
[00:53:09] yeah oh I'm curious uh you know we're all kind of curious about this itsf event that's coming up
[00:53:17] in a Memorial Day weekend in Dallas Texas world series of tornado um Rob have you heard about
[00:53:25] this thing and uh are you tempted I have not and yeah it's you've peaked my interest yeah it's a it's
[00:53:33] kind of a late-comer to the to the the schedule but it's there and it's getting a lot of um I don't
[00:53:39] know a lot of people wondering what is going on uh and it turns out it's it's a it's a full European
[00:53:45] style series and they're they're bringing it here to our doorstep yeah yeah you go ready uh so
[00:53:57] um i'm i'm on the fence it's it's like it's like a p for peat type thing like it's it's 100% payback
[00:54:04] right so the more people they go the more the more they're gonna pay out which is pretty cool
[00:54:08] the the setup like it's Swiss format which is cool um it's not like a bunch of events which is
[00:54:15] cool like i see like a lot of benefit to it but i'm hearing a lot of like mixed reviews from players and
[00:54:24] but at the end of the day i mean it's fuzball and who can be mad when they're playing fuzball right so
[00:54:30] um look look i'm gonna i'm gonna divulge this information to you guys in secret and i hope you
[00:54:36] don't tell anybody else from you with this okay so so my wife my wife and i are celebrating our 10-year
[00:54:44] anniversary this year right so we're trying to figure out where we're gonna go thank you we're
[00:54:48] trying to figure out where we're gonna go for our 10-year like i wanted to go back to Hawaii but it's
[00:54:52] gonna be like 30 grand then i'm not dropping 30 grand on a trip so not not not right now uh yeah
[00:54:58] no it's crazy so i um what i'm trying to do again this is a secret don't tell anybody i'm trying to
[00:55:05] convince her that we can go to Gabelston and spend the week on the beach because we've never been
[00:55:10] in Texas we want to go down to the coast and stay on the Gulf some like like Memorial Day weekend
[00:55:14] you finish work she's a teacher fry that friday's her last day and she's off for the summer so i'm
[00:55:20] like how about we go to Gabelston for the week right and we'll stop in Dallas for a couple days
[00:55:25] i'll play fuzball and then we'll drive down to Gabelston and we'll just hang out on the beach for
[00:55:29] life ever six days and then we'll go everybody wins yeah it's a win-the-win right but i haven't
[00:55:34] i haven't told her about the fuzball part yet so
[00:55:40] so look i really i really do want to go
[00:55:43] can't help you man don't know how to be able to
[00:55:48] yeah i love the uh i love the format i've wanted to play in that style for
[00:55:54] yeah um for sure so i think it'd be
[00:55:59] that would be really neat just the qualification i mean
[00:56:01] you have the quality quality like i don't yeah i mean there's gonna be
[00:56:04] like i don't play in open and i don't play in pro generally because i've
[00:56:08] my um points have been so low that every time i do i know range can say it's for the experience
[00:56:16] and so does chase and so it's good for you it's good for you
[00:56:19] yeah you gotta take your lips like i always have that like playing game that i draw into one of the
[00:56:24] top like four to eight seeds are one eight seed so it's it i end up getting like i've played
[00:56:30] moonia's or somebody and i just get hooked and like well
[00:56:33] those at thirty five dollar donation so like i i like the idea of the open and the pros being
[00:56:41] qualification at least get five matches yeah exactly i played that all day get your money's worth
[00:56:45] for sure don't you know from a seeding standpoint people
[00:56:50] i think people can play in all about the points then that'd be a whole hour show as well but
[00:56:55] um i think the qualification in that style makes it a little bit more of what have you done
[00:57:01] for your lately with the players like with the seeding um because like you said rainylight you
[00:57:06] got people that are 50 60 that are masters and that open champions but maybe they haven't played
[00:57:11] routinely like five years but their points are they still got six thousand points or something
[00:57:15] so they come in and they're like a seven seed and then played in four years and so i feel like the
[00:57:21] that whole idea of like it gets you in the framework of this is probably where it should be the
[00:57:28] last two years there's people are going to come out of qualifications and meet the top seeds
[00:57:32] mm-hmm that have been playing well recently and anything that happened well
[00:57:38] yeah well generally you know if you don't know one of those tops yeah i guess not going to be
[00:57:43] me like i saw like rubs they don't really have a huge dog in that fight uh
[00:57:48] those guys that have had played five years but still stopped me so well i mean not necessarily look man
[00:57:54] again it's it's it's all about your mindset and your approach and the thing is like
[00:58:01] when you when you start to play those guys at that level
[00:58:06] you get better quicker right like i feel like if you look at a player base in general
[00:58:11] you're only as good as your weakest player so when you start to build a base and build it up and
[00:58:16] and build your players up but like you guys your your group has gotten really good really fast
[00:58:21] and i think that's because players like eddie and chase have been infused into your group so
[00:58:27] oh really you know so so the same thing goes for like your tournament mindset if you go out and you
[00:58:34] just play rookie in amateur you're gonna progress at a very slow rate as opposed to if you're going
[00:58:40] out and you're playing rookie amateur x4 pro open now you're like you're playing these top players
[00:58:45] and you feel like it's a donation but the thing is you play these guys and it's really has change
[00:58:50] from like the 90s and early 2000s where you would play these guys and then you ask them for advice
[00:58:55] and they just kind of brush you off now like these masters are so willing to divulge information
[00:59:00] and tell you about what you're doing and what you could do to get better and you could take that
[00:59:04] when walk away and go home and learn and practice and so like i said it's it's all about the approach
[00:59:10] but i feel like i agree with you as far as this tournament it goes right like the the layout
[00:59:19] i like this one format i do i like it the the the the elimination uh the the five rounds into
[00:59:26] the elimination single elimination i think it's great it's a lot of foods well to play it's all time
[00:59:31] know when you're gonna be done there's no sitting around um you know Dallas is great
[00:59:36] i hope we get a lot of international support i don't know if we're going to because i think it's
[00:59:40] between a couple of big European events right the way they did it i don't know if they they really
[00:59:47] you know i know there was a lot of thought that went into this and i think we're gonna have
[00:59:50] Donald and Steve Murray come on and kind of very soon talk a little bit more about it uh but
[00:59:56] we're staying in announced it like two months earlier yeah yeah you know yeah yeah what have been going
[01:00:03] i i hope it's i hope it's well-supported i think you're probably gonna see a lot of local
[01:00:07] like Dallas still has a pretty thick local scene so i i think you'll probably see a lot of local
[01:00:11] support and you'll probably see a good southern support right like Louisiana, Oklahoma, Mississippi
[01:00:19] uh you know even on the other side it'd be nice to see like some Arizona guys there um Colorado
[01:00:23] obviously i don't know how far variety that is for them but i feel like it's still going to be well
