[00:00:01] [SPEAKER_03]: The following is a presentation of Foosball Radio. It's FoosTalk Live.

[00:00:08] [SPEAKER_03]: Are you talking to me?

[00:00:09] [SPEAKER_03]: Compelling and lively banter.

[00:00:11] [SPEAKER_03]: Are you going to talk to us?

    [00:00:12] [SPEAKER_03]: Talking Foosball.

[00:00:13] [SPEAKER_05]: Foosball was how I measured my value as a man? You took that away!

[00:00:16] [SPEAKER_03]: Players and fans, promoters and pros. Unedited and raw.

    [00:00:21] [SPEAKER_03]: Talk, talk, talk.

[00:00:22] [SPEAKER_03]: Living in the moment.

[00:00:23] [SPEAKER_03]: We have a lot of important things to talk about.

[00:00:25] [SPEAKER_03]: All while practicing social distancing.

[00:00:28] [SPEAKER_03]: Cool, we'll talk, no big whoop.

[00:02:04] [SPEAKER_02]: Foos Talk Live back again.

[00:02:06] [SPEAKER_02]: Surviving, well, shall we say, a very, very good tournament in Michigan State.

[00:02:11] [SPEAKER_02]: We have returned for episode number 227 from the great state of New York.

[00:02:18] [SPEAKER_02]: Here I am celebrating a bit, getting ready for Halloween.

[00:02:23] [SPEAKER_02]: And, of course, it's six years today to the date that Foosball Radio aired its very first episode.

    [00:02:30] [SPEAKER_02]: And we've survived.

[00:02:32] [SPEAKER_02]: We've made it all this time.

[00:02:33] [SPEAKER_02]: Randy, how did that happen?

[00:02:35] [SPEAKER_02]: How do we make it this far?

    [00:02:36] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't understand.

    [00:02:39] [SPEAKER_06]: You've persevered, Tom.

    [00:02:41] [SPEAKER_06]: Persevere.

    [00:02:42] [SPEAKER_02]: I like that word.

    [00:02:43] [SPEAKER_02]: Persevere.

    [00:02:43] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, perseverance.

    [00:02:45] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

    [00:02:46] [SPEAKER_06]: And, well, and you've had a slew of co-hosts, too.

[00:02:51] [SPEAKER_02]: Well, there are a few bodies.

    [00:02:54] [SPEAKER_06]: A few bodies?

[00:02:55] [SPEAKER_06]: But I still remember the originals.

    [00:02:59] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:03:00] [SPEAKER_06]: So Chuck, Chuck Dooley, I remember when you guys started doing this, I said, Chuck, dude.

[00:03:05] [SPEAKER_06]: I said, I'll come on any time to talk foosball.

[00:03:08] [SPEAKER_06]: He said, yeah, yeah, we'll have you on.

    [00:03:09] [SPEAKER_06]: We'll have you on.

[00:03:10] [SPEAKER_06]: And I kind of felt like he was being nice.

    [00:03:12] [SPEAKER_06]: Okay.

[00:03:13] [SPEAKER_06]: Didn't want to be like, no.

[00:03:15] [SPEAKER_06]: And kind of brushed me off.

[00:03:17] [SPEAKER_06]: How you feel now, Chuck?

    [00:03:18] [SPEAKER_06]: Huh?

[00:03:19] [SPEAKER_06]: How you feel now, buddy?

    [00:03:24] [SPEAKER_02]: That's a good.

    [00:03:24] [SPEAKER_02]: That's a fair question.

    [00:03:27] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:03:28] [SPEAKER_06]: Listen, I know how Chuck feels.

[00:03:30] [SPEAKER_06]: You know, he's probably feeling pretty good.

    [00:03:33] [SPEAKER_06]: What is it?

    [00:03:33] [SPEAKER_06]: What is it?

    [00:03:34] [SPEAKER_06]: Nine o'clock there now?

[00:03:34] [SPEAKER_06]: Chuck's probably feeling pretty good right now.

    [00:03:36] [SPEAKER_02]: Nine o'clock.

[00:03:37] [SPEAKER_02]: He was going to make it tonight, too, to join us for the sixth anniversary.

[00:03:41] [SPEAKER_02]: But he had other plans.

[00:03:43] [SPEAKER_02]: So what are you going to do?

[00:03:44] [SPEAKER_02]: Now, I will say Nino Dijon, who's also, you know, the very first incarnation of foosball radio, is suffering from the tournament ick.

    [00:03:55] [SPEAKER_02]: So he's got a bit of pneumonia.

    [00:03:59] [SPEAKER_02]: That's, yeah.

    [00:04:00] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

    [00:04:00] [SPEAKER_02]: Not good.

    [00:04:01] [SPEAKER_02]: Not good.

    [00:04:02] [SPEAKER_02]: So I forgive and forget.

    [00:04:05] [SPEAKER_02]: That's what I do.

    [00:04:06] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

    [00:04:06] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:04:07] [SPEAKER_06]: A couple of my guys from back home, they got the ick, too.

    [00:04:11] [SPEAKER_06]: Oh, dude.

    [00:04:12] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, man.

    [00:04:13] [SPEAKER_06]: I mean, look, again, we should do a PSA pre-tournament.

[00:04:20] [SPEAKER_06]: You know, look, don't touch your face.

    [00:04:22] [SPEAKER_06]: Yep.

    [00:04:23] [SPEAKER_06]: Sanitize.

    [00:04:24] [SPEAKER_06]: Wash your hands.

    [00:04:24] [SPEAKER_06]: It's one of those things.

    [00:04:26] [SPEAKER_06]: You're touching handles.

[00:04:28] [SPEAKER_06]: People are, you know, you don't know where hands are.

    [00:04:32] [SPEAKER_06]: They're germy.

    [00:04:33] [SPEAKER_06]: They're germy, right?

    [00:04:35] [SPEAKER_06]: Just don't.

[00:04:35] [SPEAKER_06]: And this is the thing.

    [00:04:38] [SPEAKER_06]: I kind of pride.

    [00:04:40] [SPEAKER_06]: Look, I get sick.

    [00:04:41] [SPEAKER_06]: It happens.

    [00:04:42] [SPEAKER_06]: Sure.

[00:04:42] [SPEAKER_06]: You know, my immune system is lined with steel.

    [00:04:45] [SPEAKER_06]: I'm married to a second grade teacher.

[00:04:49] [SPEAKER_02]: Well, and you also go to bed by nine o'clock at night.

    [00:04:52] [SPEAKER_02]: So there's that.

[00:04:54] [SPEAKER_06]: I'm sleep talking right now, Tom.

    [00:04:56] [SPEAKER_02]: There you go.

    [00:04:57] [SPEAKER_02]: Sleep talking.

[00:04:59] [SPEAKER_02]: So I think it's worth it to just say, okay, last weekend was a hell of a lot of fun, man.

[00:05:05] [SPEAKER_02]: That was, it was a blast.

    [00:05:07] [SPEAKER_06]: I had a blast.

    [00:05:09] [SPEAKER_06]: I had a great time.

    [00:05:10] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

    [00:05:10] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:05:10] [SPEAKER_06]: It was, it was, uh, so a couple, again, a couple of my guys from back home came out.

[00:05:16] [SPEAKER_06]: This was their first event.

    [00:05:17] [SPEAKER_06]: Yes.

[00:05:18] [SPEAKER_06]: Mikey Mello and Kevin Arruda had never been to, uh, a tournament outside of a local.

[00:05:24] [SPEAKER_02]: I was surprised to hear that.

[00:05:25] [SPEAKER_06]: And, uh, well, and, you know, getting to talk to them after and just, you know, Hey, what

    [00:05:29] [SPEAKER_06]: do you think?

    [00:05:30] [SPEAKER_06]: And I mean, they had a blast.

    [00:05:31] [SPEAKER_06]: They loved it.

[00:05:32] [SPEAKER_06]: And, you know, when I told them, I said, the foosball is, um, what's, what's the best way

    [00:05:39] [SPEAKER_06]: to explain it.

[00:05:40] [SPEAKER_06]: It's like, uh, um, not a by-product, but you know, obviously we go for the foosball, but

[00:05:46] [SPEAKER_06]: like the hanging out, the hanging out.

    [00:05:48] [SPEAKER_06]: Right.

[00:05:48] [SPEAKER_06]: Like, and I told him, I said, just hanging with the boys.

[00:05:50] [SPEAKER_06]: Like we, you know, we went to Denny's one night at like one o'clock and, uh, just, just

[00:05:55] [SPEAKER_06]: hanging out and, and, uh, having a good time with your friends.

[00:05:59] [SPEAKER_06]: And that's the best part for me.

[00:06:01] [SPEAKER_06]: I mean, obviously I love the foosball part, but I mean, I got to, I got to hang out with

[00:06:05] [SPEAKER_06]: my guys, uh, got to spend time with you, um, shout out to the, the modern foos guys.

[00:06:11] [SPEAKER_06]: They let me in the booth for a couple of matches.

    [00:06:14] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

    [00:06:15] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:06:16] [SPEAKER_06]: Uh, my Michael stall obviously, uh, did a great job with this event.

    [00:06:21] [SPEAKER_06]: Did a really nice job.

[00:06:22] [SPEAKER_06]: The, the, the location, uh, I can't say enough about the hotel time.

[00:06:27] [SPEAKER_06]: It was one of the better ones as far as like foosball tournaments go.

[00:06:30] [SPEAKER_06]: So, um, it was nice.

[00:06:32] [SPEAKER_02]: It was comfortable, clean.

[00:06:34] [SPEAKER_02]: Um, and the rooms are relatively soundproof, which is nice to know.

    [00:06:39] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

    [00:06:40] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:06:40] [SPEAKER_02]: Uh, modern, modern accommodations.

    [00:06:43] [SPEAKER_02]: What a concept, right?

    [00:06:44] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, for, for a good foosball tournament, it's a, it's kind of a must.

[00:06:48] [SPEAKER_02]: I think, I think, in fact, I've gotten to the point now I've gone to so many tournaments,

[00:06:52] [SPEAKER_02]: but it's like, I'm starting to get a little, little fussy about my hotels.

    [00:06:56] [SPEAKER_06]: You know, I'm, I'm bougie Tom.

    [00:06:59] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

    [00:06:59] [SPEAKER_06]: I'm not going to lie.

[00:07:00] [SPEAKER_06]: Like I'm, I'm like a four star plus kind of guy.

    [00:07:03] [SPEAKER_06]: Right.

    [00:07:03] [SPEAKER_06]: I'll stay, I'll stay at a three depending.

[00:07:06] [SPEAKER_06]: Uh, so when I go to a tournament, I'm like, I don't even look at the reviews.

    [00:07:11] [SPEAKER_06]: I'm just like, I'm whatever it is.

    [00:07:13] [SPEAKER_06]: I get to play foosball.

    [00:07:14] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

    [00:07:14] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

    [00:07:14] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

    [00:07:15] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:07:15] [SPEAKER_06]: So, you know, my, my dad, uh, my family, we, we owned a bus company for years.

    [00:07:21] [SPEAKER_06]: My dad drove.

    [00:07:22] [SPEAKER_06]: He still drives.

    [00:07:22] [SPEAKER_03]: Really?

    [00:07:23] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

    [00:07:24] [SPEAKER_06]: So, so yeah.

[00:07:25] [SPEAKER_06]: So he, um, he, he's always told me, he's like, listen, man, he said, I've stayed in some places.

[00:07:30] [SPEAKER_06]: He said, I don't turn the lights on.

    [00:07:31] [SPEAKER_06]: I don't look under the sheets.

[00:07:33] [SPEAKER_06]: He said, you just, sometimes there's things you just don't want to see.

    [00:07:37] [SPEAKER_06]: Don't want to know.

[00:07:38] [SPEAKER_06]: He said, he said, I'm just trying to get some sleep.

[00:07:40] [SPEAKER_06]: I said, ah, it makes sense.

[00:07:41] [SPEAKER_06]: And I've, I've kind of acquired some of the, uh, some of his thinking when it comes to that

    [00:07:46] [SPEAKER_06]: stuff.

[00:07:47] [SPEAKER_06]: But this, uh, this hotel was, I mean, the, the, the employees were great.

[00:07:53] [SPEAKER_06]: Uh, the accommodations were great.

[00:07:55] [SPEAKER_06]: The beds were comfortable.

    [00:07:56] [SPEAKER_06]: It was clean.

[00:07:56] [SPEAKER_06]: The ballroom was, the ballroom was beautiful.

[00:07:59] [SPEAKER_06]: They did a really nice job putting it together.

    [00:08:01] [SPEAKER_06]: Mike's crew was great.

    [00:08:03] [SPEAKER_06]: Modern did a great job.

[00:08:04] [SPEAKER_06]: Uh, the players, uh, the Michigan players and the regional players up there were, they

    [00:08:09] [SPEAKER_06]: were awesome, man.

    [00:08:10] [SPEAKER_06]: Everybody's cool.

    [00:08:11] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

    [00:08:12] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

    [00:08:12] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

    [00:08:13] [SPEAKER_06]: Really good.

    [00:08:13] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:08:13] [SPEAKER_06]: It was, it was just, it was a blast, man.

[00:08:15] [SPEAKER_06]: And if, like I said, if you've, uh, if you've never been, if you're on the fence or whatever,

[00:08:19] [SPEAKER_06]: make plans to go, it's definitely a tournament you got.

    [00:08:22] [SPEAKER_02]: It's, um, I think, you know, especially when you're, you're rebuilding a reputation because

[00:08:27] [SPEAKER_02]: Michigan many years ago, even Mike Stahl's dad, who was also promoting foosball way back

[00:08:32] [SPEAKER_02]: in the day before Michael was part of the, part of the, uh, the, the, the factor.

[00:08:36] [SPEAKER_02]: But, um, it's, it's amazing to rebuild the reputation of Michigan state.

[00:08:41] [SPEAKER_02]: And now of course this great lace classic, which I kind of liked the rebranding.

[00:08:45] [SPEAKER_02]: I think that that was a great idea.

[00:08:47] [SPEAKER_02]: And, uh, I liked the addition of the, the cup competition where everybody was playing,

[00:08:52] [SPEAKER_02]: you know, from different States and stuff.

[00:08:54] [SPEAKER_02]: And, excuse me, I still have a bit of the ek myself.

[00:09:03] [SPEAKER_02]: Um, but it's, it's, uh, it was, it was a really cool, um, way of letting people, uh,

[00:09:09] [SPEAKER_02]: just have fun with their, with their home team.

    [00:09:12] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

    [00:09:12] [SPEAKER_06]: I didn't like it, Tom.

    [00:09:14] [SPEAKER_06]: You didn't like it.

    [00:09:15] [SPEAKER_02]: Cause.

    [00:09:15] [SPEAKER_06]: I didn't like it.

[00:09:16] [SPEAKER_06]: Cause we lost in the first round.

    [00:09:18] [SPEAKER_06]: So, um, that's it.

[00:09:21] [SPEAKER_06]: Other than that, it was cool.

[00:09:22] [SPEAKER_02]: That could be an issue.

[00:09:23] [SPEAKER_02]: Losing the first round, but that just means next year.

[00:09:27] [SPEAKER_06]: It was, I mean, look, I'm going to tell you the same thing.

[00:09:29] [SPEAKER_06]: Like the team, the team play, the camaraderie, even, you know, a couple of the guys are like,

    [00:09:34] [SPEAKER_06]: man, I was so nervous.

[00:09:35] [SPEAKER_06]: I, you know, it's, I really wanted to do well for the team.

    [00:09:39] [SPEAKER_06]: Sure.

    [00:09:39] [SPEAKER_06]: And there's, there's a definite factor in play, you know?

[00:09:42] [SPEAKER_06]: So, um, but we lost to, uh, Mike Stahl's team.

[00:09:46] [SPEAKER_06]: They call themselves, um, the Donnie Wahlbergs or something like that.

[00:09:51] [SPEAKER_06]: Oh, the new kids on the block.

    [00:09:53] [SPEAKER_06]: That's what it was anyway.

[00:09:55] [SPEAKER_06]: New kids on the block.

[00:09:56] [SPEAKER_06]: So, but he had, he had all those young studs and all those under, it was, it was dirty.

[00:10:01] [SPEAKER_02]: He, uh, yeah, he, uh, he, he basically skimmed, he skimmed that thing, you know?

    [00:10:06] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

    [00:10:06] [SPEAKER_06]: They definitely cheated.

    [00:10:07] [SPEAKER_02]: Next year though.

[00:10:08] [SPEAKER_02]: Next year, what we should do is do a coalition of Northeastern players.

[00:10:12] [SPEAKER_02]: And, you know, Tommy, yours now officially a Northeastern player.

[00:10:15] [SPEAKER_02]: So just saying, you know, things could be a lot different, a lot different.

    [00:10:21] [SPEAKER_06]: That could work.

    [00:10:21] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:10:22] [SPEAKER_06]: So, uh, I mean, it's, but it was definitely fun.

    [00:10:25] [SPEAKER_06]: It was a good time.

[00:10:26] [SPEAKER_06]: Um, and then, uh, you know, he had the, the Bonzini out in the, in the hallway, had, uh,

[00:10:33] [SPEAKER_06]: the Leo, the Leo out in the hallway.

[00:10:35] [SPEAKER_06]: And then he had the speed bridge out there and people were on that thing all weekend trying

    [00:10:39] [SPEAKER_06]: to crank shots.

[00:10:40] [SPEAKER_06]: And so, uh, it was,

[00:10:42] [SPEAKER_06]: it was sweet, man.

    [00:10:42] [SPEAKER_06]: It was sweet.

    [00:10:43] [SPEAKER_06]: I had a, I had a blast.

[00:10:44] [SPEAKER_06]: Uh, but we're here to talk about six years, Tom.

    [00:10:49] [SPEAKER_06]: Six years.

[00:10:49] [SPEAKER_06]: What were you doing in 2018?

[00:10:51] [SPEAKER_02]: Well, um, as far as my professional, I mean, my professional life was, was pretty much the

    [00:10:56] [SPEAKER_02]: same.

[00:10:57] [SPEAKER_02]: Um, I was still, you know, working, uh, for voice coaches, the company.

[00:11:01] [SPEAKER_02]: Um, I was, well, let's see, I was traveling a lot more than, because for that company,

[00:11:07] [SPEAKER_02]: they had me all over the country, uh, lecturing about voice acting.

[00:11:11] [SPEAKER_02]: So I was on the road four days a week.

[00:11:14] [SPEAKER_02]: It was, uh, it was a grind, you know, I'll confess, but, um, it was about to come to an

[00:11:20] [SPEAKER_02]: end at that point.

[00:11:21] [SPEAKER_02]: I was three and three, three, three and a half years in by the time we started with foosball

    [00:11:25] [SPEAKER_02]: radio.

[00:11:25] [SPEAKER_02]: So, and, and I wanted more time to work on this, this project, but this really didn't

    [00:11:31] [SPEAKER_02]: just happen overnight.

[00:11:32] [SPEAKER_02]: It wasn't just like, oh, guess what guys, we're going to do a podcast about foosball.

[00:11:37] [SPEAKER_02]: Um, this really, it unfolded for months long before we even sat down months.

    [00:11:43] [SPEAKER_06]: Well, so, so cause I, I'm, I'm curious.

    [00:11:47] [SPEAKER_06]: I've always been curious.

[00:11:48] [SPEAKER_06]: Like, so whose idea was it?

[00:11:49] [SPEAKER_06]: Like who pitched it and how did it all come together?

    [00:11:51] [SPEAKER_02]: Right.

[00:11:51] [SPEAKER_02]: So there was, um, I think I remember a couple of people in the past, uh, Tom Mosher being

[00:11:57] [SPEAKER_02]: one of them saying, you know, I'm going to do a podcast about foosball cause nobody else

    [00:12:02] [SPEAKER_02]: is doing it.

    [00:12:03] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, that's a really cool idea.

    [00:12:05] [SPEAKER_02]: Right.

[00:12:05] [SPEAKER_02]: And this was, I don't know, maybe 2016, 2017, you know, he was still playing here in the

    [00:12:10] [SPEAKER_02]: Northeast.

[00:12:12] [SPEAKER_02]: And, um, so it just kind of that, that planted the germ, I guess you could say, or the, the,

    [00:12:18] [SPEAKER_02]: the seed.

[00:12:19] [SPEAKER_02]: Um, and then later on, uh, we hired a person at a voice coaches, uh, in our, in our facility

    [00:12:25] [SPEAKER_02]: as a videographer.

[00:12:27] [SPEAKER_02]: And as it turns out, he's not just a videographer, but he's also like a, a mass marketer.

[00:12:32] [SPEAKER_02]: Um, also really a high end expert when it comes to 3d rendering, just a lot of really high

    [00:12:40] [SPEAKER_02]: end skills.

[00:12:41] [SPEAKER_02]: And so we got to know each other, uh, good guys.

[00:12:44] [SPEAKER_02]: Name is Eric Cicino.

[00:12:46] [SPEAKER_02]: And, uh, we were just hanging out one day and he said, uh, so, you know, what do you like

[00:12:50] [SPEAKER_02]: to do for fun?

[00:12:50] [SPEAKER_02]: I said, well, um, this is kind of an odd thing, but I like to play foosball and I like to play,

[00:12:55] [SPEAKER_02]: you know, play for money.

[00:12:56] [SPEAKER_02]: And he goes, foosball.

    [00:12:59] [SPEAKER_02]: What?

    [00:13:00] [SPEAKER_02]: Foosball.

[00:13:01] [SPEAKER_02]: What do you mean?

    [00:13:02] [SPEAKER_02]: Foosball.

[00:13:02] [SPEAKER_02]: I said, well, you know, we get together once a week.

[00:13:04] [SPEAKER_02]: We, we do a DYP and we play professional quote unquote foosball.

    [00:13:08] [SPEAKER_02]: Foosball.

    [00:13:09] [SPEAKER_02]: And he's like, wow, that's, that's really cool.

[00:13:11] [SPEAKER_02]: Cause I think, you know, I remember doing that in college, but I wasn't very good at

    [00:13:14] [SPEAKER_02]: it.

[00:13:15] [SPEAKER_02]: So little by little, every once in a while we'd hang out and he'd be like, so how's

    [00:13:18] [SPEAKER_02]: foosball going?

    [00:13:19] [SPEAKER_02]: I'd be like, oh good.

    [00:13:20] [SPEAKER_02]: You know?

[00:13:21] [SPEAKER_02]: And then, uh, one day he came in and said, Hey, you know, I've been searching the web

[00:13:25] [SPEAKER_02]: since you talked about foosball.

[00:13:27] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm looking for a foosball podcast and I'm not seeing anything out there.

[00:13:31] [SPEAKER_02]: Um, he said, I, I think I did find one actually for out of Colorado.

[00:13:34] [SPEAKER_02]: It was like a barbecue and two or something like that, uh, that had a, it was a foosball

[00:13:40] [SPEAKER_02]: theme and it was a podcast.

[00:13:41] [SPEAKER_02]: I said, oh, you know, um, I, I wasn't aware of it, but Hey, you know, cool.

[00:13:46] [SPEAKER_02]: So he goes, why aren't you doing one of these?

[00:13:49] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, what do you mean?

[00:13:50] [SPEAKER_02]: Like, like a podcast about foosball?

[00:13:51] [SPEAKER_02]: He goes, yeah, yeah.

    [00:13:52] [SPEAKER_02]: Why don't you do that?

[00:13:53] [SPEAKER_02]: He goes, you've got this, this huge broadcast background as an air personality.

    [00:13:57] [SPEAKER_02]: Why aren't you doing it?

[00:13:58] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, well, I, you know, that's a lot of work and I'm not sure I'm up to that.

[00:14:04] [SPEAKER_02]: But little by little, he kept asking me the question, why aren't you doing it?

[00:14:07] [SPEAKER_02]: You, you could be, you know, you could do a great, a great podcast.

    [00:14:10] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, yeah, yeah.

    [00:14:11] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.

    [00:14:12] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.

[00:14:13] [SPEAKER_02]: So this is over several months.

[00:14:15] [SPEAKER_02]: Finally, he said, listen, we're going to do it.

    [00:14:19] [SPEAKER_02]: Let's do this.

    [00:14:20] [SPEAKER_02]: I said, well, I don't even technically know how.

[00:14:22] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't, you know, how do I, you know, how do I even begin?

[00:14:25] [SPEAKER_02]: He goes, well, let's sit down.

    [00:14:27] [SPEAKER_02]: We'll talk.

[00:14:28] [SPEAKER_02]: So he spent the next couple of weeks during lunch hours and just times that we were just

[00:14:32] [SPEAKER_02]: able to hang out.

[00:14:33] [SPEAKER_02]: And he described for me how it's supposed to go.

[00:14:36] [SPEAKER_02]: And here's what other podcasters do.

[00:14:38] [SPEAKER_02]: And here's how it works, et cetera, et cetera.

[00:14:39] [SPEAKER_02]: So the technical aspects.

[00:14:41] [SPEAKER_02]: And I started to realize, you know, okay, technically it's not too terribly bad, but

[00:14:45] [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, who's going to do this thing with me?

    [00:14:48] [SPEAKER_02]: I can't do it by myself.

    [00:14:49] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know enough.

    [00:14:49] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, I mean, I'm a bar player, essentially.

    [00:14:52] [SPEAKER_02]: I love playing, but I'm not, I haven't gone to tournaments.

[00:14:55] [SPEAKER_02]: I think at that point, actually, let me think about this.

    [00:14:58] [SPEAKER_02]: No, I'm sorry.

    [00:14:59] [SPEAKER_02]: I beg to differ.

[00:15:00] [SPEAKER_02]: Actually, I had gone to New York state a couple of times when New York state was still happening.

[00:15:06] [SPEAKER_02]: So I had been to a few tournaments, but I thought, you know, I would need somebody to

[00:15:12] [SPEAKER_02]: help me who knows people in the business so we could talk to other players because I

[00:15:16] [SPEAKER_02]: didn't know how to approach people.

[00:15:18] [SPEAKER_02]: And so he goes, well, there must be somebody in your crew that knows folks.

[00:15:23] [SPEAKER_02]: I said, well, yeah, I think there are a couple of guys.

    [00:15:25] [SPEAKER_02]: There's Nino and Chuck.

[00:15:27] [SPEAKER_02]: He goes, well, you know, if they're in the know, if they know people, you should ask them

[00:15:32] [SPEAKER_02]: if they want to do this.

[00:15:33] [SPEAKER_02]: And I said, well, okay, let's see what happens.

[00:15:36] [SPEAKER_02]: And at the time, you know, Nino and Chuck, I think, you know, we were close as foosball

[00:15:41] [SPEAKER_02]: players, but not really hadn't hung out much socially.

[00:15:46] [SPEAKER_02]: So gradually I said, what do you think guys?

    [00:15:49] [SPEAKER_02]: Here's, here's an idea.

    [00:15:51] [SPEAKER_02]: A foosball, foosball podcast.

    [00:15:53] [SPEAKER_02]: And they're like, what?

    [00:15:55] [SPEAKER_02]: A what?

[00:15:56] [SPEAKER_02]: I said, foosball, you know, we could, we could do a foosball podcast.

[00:15:59] [SPEAKER_02]: I've got the gear, I've got all the equipment and we can set it up and, and we'll, we'll,

    [00:16:04] [SPEAKER_02]: I'll show you how it's done.

    [00:16:05] [SPEAKER_02]: And they're like, okay, let's, let's give it a try.

    [00:16:09] [SPEAKER_02]: Bye.

[00:16:10] [SPEAKER_02]: So we, um, in August of that year, uh, sat down for our very first test and, uh, I wanted

[00:16:19] [SPEAKER_02]: to play a little bit of that.

[00:16:21] [SPEAKER_02]: This is the first time the guys ever sat down in front of microphones and see what you think

    [00:16:26] [SPEAKER_02]: about this.

    [00:16:27] [SPEAKER_02]: Oops.

    [00:16:28] [SPEAKER_02]: Hold on.

    [00:16:28] [SPEAKER_02]: Wrong cut.

    [00:16:30] [SPEAKER_02]: Here we go.

    [00:16:31] [SPEAKER_02]: First test.

    [00:16:32] [SPEAKER_02]: Showtime.

    [00:16:34] [SPEAKER_04]: We're on the air.

    [00:16:36] [SPEAKER_04]: All right.

[00:16:36] [SPEAKER_04]: So what I was thinking is, uh, if, if we do an outline like that, we can, uh, set it

[00:16:44] [SPEAKER_04]: up on like, you know, five or 10 segments, whatever it is, whatever subjects we've, we've

    [00:16:49] [SPEAKER_04]: come across.

    [00:16:50] [SPEAKER_04]: Right.

[00:16:50] [SPEAKER_04]: At the, at the end of the first subject, we can cut.

    [00:16:53] [SPEAKER_04]: Mm-hmm.

    [00:16:54] [SPEAKER_04]: We'll be back.

    [00:16:55] [SPEAKER_04]: Stop for a second.

    [00:16:56] [SPEAKER_04]: We'll be back after this.

[00:16:57] [SPEAKER_04]: Discuss what we want to talk.

[00:16:58] [SPEAKER_04]: Don't even have to say that because you can just edit it, right?

    [00:17:00] [SPEAKER_04]: Well, here's the thing.

[00:17:02] [SPEAKER_04]: It can sound continuous.

[00:17:03] [SPEAKER_02]: We can certainly do that.

[00:17:04] [SPEAKER_02]: Um, but we're going to have, uh, eventually sponsors and places to put sponsors.

[00:17:09] [SPEAKER_02]: So, uh, in between segments.

[00:17:12] [SPEAKER_04]: Is that how the money comes into it?

    [00:17:13] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh yeah.

[00:17:15] [SPEAKER_03]: So let's say, you know, and in the beginning of the podcast, you might say in our first

[00:17:20] [SPEAKER_03]: segment today is being brought to you today, today by a tornado foosball.com.

[00:17:24] [SPEAKER_02]: Um, and from there, you know, you stop, you stop after your intro.

[00:17:29] [SPEAKER_02]: Hey, today, coming up today, we're going to be talking about, um, you know, the, the different

[00:17:33] [SPEAKER_02]: kinds of, uh, tournaments that are happening out there, but you know, what makes a great

    [00:17:38] [SPEAKER_02]: tournament?

[00:17:38] [SPEAKER_02]: Let's say that'd be the topic for today.

    [00:17:40] [SPEAKER_02]: What makes a great tournament?

[00:17:41] [SPEAKER_02]: And so we'll be back with that right after this.

[00:17:44] [SPEAKER_02]: And then you hear this, this 32nd piece that's in, it's in, it's plugged in later, uh, because

[00:17:51] [SPEAKER_02]: we'll have bumper music that comes in and out of the segments.

[00:17:55] [SPEAKER_02]: You hear the music fade out and then this, this quick announcement, 30 seconds or whatever

    [00:17:58] [SPEAKER_02]: it is.

[00:17:59] [SPEAKER_02]: Uh, and then the music comes back on.

    [00:18:02] [SPEAKER_02]: Hey, we're back.

[00:18:03] [SPEAKER_02]: Hey, well, thanks for tuning in for the, for the foosball podcast.

[00:18:06] [SPEAKER_02]: And, uh, today we're going to talk about, uh, tournaments and what makes a great tournament.

[00:18:11] [SPEAKER_02]: So Chuck, what do you think?

[00:18:12] [SPEAKER_02]: What's, what's, uh, what makes a great tournament in your, in your eyes?

[00:18:15] [SPEAKER_02]: Well, first of all, I mean, a tournament has to be fun, you know?

    [00:18:17] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:18:19] [SPEAKER_02]: So kind of a test of the equipment, but also a test for these guys just to be in front

[00:18:24] [SPEAKER_02]: of a microphone for the first time.

    [00:18:26] [SPEAKER_02]: They'd, they'd never done that before.

[00:18:29] [SPEAKER_02]: So we kind of, that first, uh, test lasted about 40 minutes or so.

[00:18:33] [SPEAKER_02]: And it, it, it came together and at the end, they're kind of like, oh, well that, that was

    [00:18:39] [SPEAKER_02]: fun.

[00:18:40] [SPEAKER_02]: That was, that was good.

    [00:18:41] [SPEAKER_02]: Let's, let's do this.

    [00:18:42] [SPEAKER_02]: And I'm like, oh, okay.

    [00:18:44] Okay.

[00:18:45] [SPEAKER_02]: So we, we started working on stuff.

[00:18:48] [SPEAKER_02]: Um, there's, um, a thing in, in broadcasting called production.

[00:18:51] [SPEAKER_02]: So production is, is all about the stuff that goes on behind the scenes when it comes to

    [00:18:55] [SPEAKER_02]: putting sound together.

[00:18:58] [SPEAKER_02]: And, you know, you, you, you stitch stuff together, you test it out to see if it's going

[00:19:02] [SPEAKER_02]: to work, et cetera.

[00:19:03] [SPEAKER_02]: You try different music beds.

[00:19:05] [SPEAKER_02]: There's all kinds of things you can do, but, uh, we got into just kind of testing things.

[00:19:11] [SPEAKER_02]: And so the other part of this was, was the imagery.

[00:19:14] [SPEAKER_02]: Like, what is it going to look like?

[00:19:15] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, what, how, how do we want this to look?

[00:19:18] [SPEAKER_02]: Well, as it turns out, uh, Eric Cicino, the guy who'd, who'd given me the idea or had

[00:19:22] [SPEAKER_02]: pushed me to do it, he decided that he was going to help us with that.

[00:19:26] [SPEAKER_02]: So he said, listen, uh, just give me one of your foosball guys.

    [00:19:30] [SPEAKER_02]: You've got a spare foosball guy.

[00:19:31] [SPEAKER_02]: Just give it to me.

    [00:19:32] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, okay.

    [00:19:32] [SPEAKER_02]: Okay.

[00:19:33] [SPEAKER_02]: So he took it back to his, uh, his studio, his laboratory, and he scanned it in, uh, using

[00:19:39] [SPEAKER_02]: very high speed cameras.

[00:19:41] [SPEAKER_02]: And it took 13 hours to render the thing in full three dimensional.

[00:19:45] [SPEAKER_02]: And so the logo that you see with the foosball guy with the headphones on, he did that.

[00:19:50] [SPEAKER_02]: Took him 13 hours to do that.

    [00:19:52] [SPEAKER_07]: Wow.

[00:19:53] [SPEAKER_02]: And normally somebody of his level of proficiency with that kind of technology, that job would

[00:20:00] [SPEAKER_02]: have cost probably five grand just for the one image.

    [00:20:03] [SPEAKER_06]: Five grand.

    [00:20:04] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:20:04] [SPEAKER_02]: About five grand because of the amount of time and, and effort it takes to, to do it.

[00:20:09] [SPEAKER_02]: So, but he, uh, he just did it for gratis.

[00:20:12] [SPEAKER_02]: Just, you know, just to get you guys going, you know?

    [00:20:15] [SPEAKER_06]: Thank you.

    [00:20:16] [SPEAKER_06]: Thank you, sir.

[00:20:17] [SPEAKER_02]: And he did a bunch of stuff, uh, after that again, more or less for gratis.

[00:20:21] [SPEAKER_02]: Although I think, you know, several of us, you know, in the, in the crew at the time,

[00:20:26] [SPEAKER_02]: we're thinking, well, maybe we can really start to, you know, we'll get some advertisers

[00:20:29] [SPEAKER_02]: and we'll make some money on this thing.

[00:20:31] [SPEAKER_02]: But, you know, that's, uh, best laid plans, right?

[00:20:35] [SPEAKER_02]: Um, that doesn't often happen that way.

[00:20:38] [SPEAKER_06]: I'm always trying to figure out how I can make money off this thing, Tom.

    [00:20:42] [SPEAKER_06]: Right.

[00:20:42] [SPEAKER_06]: And you know what, uh, what the conclusion I've come to is it's just not going to happen.

    [00:20:47] [SPEAKER_06]: It's foosball.

    [00:20:49] [SPEAKER_06]: It's foosball.

    [00:20:50] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:20:52] [SPEAKER_02]: Um, I mean, who knows in five years, maybe with the way things are going with world, the,

[00:20:56] [SPEAKER_02]: the world foosball tour and, and Ryan's influence and things get more into the mainstream and

[00:21:02] [SPEAKER_02]: there's more, um, more attention being paid in general to the sport.

[00:21:07] [SPEAKER_02]: Um, yeah, maybe there will be a, a way to, to see a return on investment, shall we say?

    [00:21:13] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

    [00:21:14] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:21:14] [SPEAKER_06]: I mean, it's, it's every foosball player's dream to just be able to play foosball.

    [00:21:19] [SPEAKER_06]: Right.

[00:21:19] [SPEAKER_06]: Like if, if, if I could make a sustainable living just doing this, that would be, um,

    [00:21:26] [SPEAKER_06]: Oh yeah.

    [00:21:28] [SPEAKER_06]: Oh man.

    [00:21:29] [SPEAKER_06]: That'd be awesome.

[00:21:30] [SPEAKER_02]: There should be, I mean, obviously we've talked about this so much where we're, we're, we're

[00:21:34] [SPEAKER_02]: getting blue in the face, but there should be at least for the pros and pro masters, a

[00:21:38] [SPEAKER_02]: way to get sponsored and, and go to a tournament for, you know, basically for next to nothing

[00:21:43] [SPEAKER_02]: and then, uh, make money.

[00:21:45] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, if they, if they win the events, make some, some serious cash, you know?

    [00:21:50] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:21:51] [SPEAKER_06]: No, I got to get up at five o'clock tomorrow to make some serious cash.

    [00:21:57] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, exactly.

    [00:21:59] [SPEAKER_06]: There is that.

[00:22:00] [SPEAKER_02]: I got to do my thing, you know?

[00:22:02] [SPEAKER_02]: Um, so yeah, I mean this whole thing about, you know, media covering a sport and of course

[00:22:09] [SPEAKER_02]: we saw a great example of that with, with, uh, the guys from, from modern foos this last

[00:22:15] [SPEAKER_02]: weekend, they've really, they really started to, to lift the, the, the standard when it

[00:22:20] [SPEAKER_02]: comes to how this is done is play by play.

[00:22:22] [SPEAKER_02]: And of course, play by play is completely different from what we do here.

    [00:22:26] [SPEAKER_02]: Um, yeah.

[00:22:26] [SPEAKER_02]: We're about after the, after the match, after the, after the, the play has taken place

[00:22:32] [SPEAKER_02]: and there's no, um, you know, we have visuals now.

[00:22:35] [SPEAKER_02]: We didn't used to have visuals.

[00:22:36] [SPEAKER_02]: By the way, foosball radio for the first year and a half, there was no visible stuff.

[00:22:42] [SPEAKER_02]: You couldn't see us on camera and I think that was words, just words.

    [00:22:46] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

    [00:22:46] [SPEAKER_02]: Just, uh, just a podcast.

[00:22:47] [SPEAKER_02]: So it wasn't until later when Foos Talk Live, what we're doing right now kicked in, in, uh,

[00:22:55] [SPEAKER_02]: during COVID in 2020, that's when then the visible thing was becoming more of a thing

    [00:23:01] [SPEAKER_02]: anyway.

[00:23:02] [SPEAKER_02]: Um, and, uh, Clay Toomey really was the instrumental in, in getting us visible, getting us on camera.

    [00:23:08] [SPEAKER_02]: Uh, excuse me.

[00:23:09] [SPEAKER_02]: And, um, I wasn't, um, down for it at first cause I got a face for radio.

    [00:23:15] [SPEAKER_02]: So I'm like, man, I'm, I'm not, I'm not sure I want to do that.

    [00:23:19] [SPEAKER_02]: You know?

[00:23:22] [SPEAKER_02]: So it's, uh, you know, facts is facts.

[00:23:25] [SPEAKER_02]: So, but no, he's like, yeah, no, this is how it's done.

[00:23:27] [SPEAKER_02]: And, uh, here's, here's, I'll show you how that, and again, someone like Clay comes along

[00:23:32] [SPEAKER_02]: who can, who can technically do this stuff and it forces you, especially when you're

[00:23:37] [SPEAKER_02]: producing a show like this to, to change.

[00:23:39] [SPEAKER_02]: You have to, you have to kind of go with the flow and, and, uh, learn and, you know, do

[00:23:44] [SPEAKER_02]: something to improve the product along the way.

[00:23:47] [SPEAKER_02]: Um, and we've had a lot of different things happen along the way.

[00:23:51] [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, it's, it's really, I wanted to play you something that, that this is like the early

    [00:23:57] [SPEAKER_02]: stages.

[00:23:58] [SPEAKER_02]: Um, now you remember with foosball radio, there was a standard intro that we had constructed.

    [00:24:03] [SPEAKER_02]: Uh-huh.

[00:24:04] [SPEAKER_02]: Um, and we tried different things.

[00:24:06] [SPEAKER_02]: So I wanted to show a play for you, an alternative version of that, that never made it to air.

[00:24:13] [SPEAKER_02]: Uh, but it was kind of like an early experiment with what it was going to sound like, but here's,

[00:24:18] [SPEAKER_02]: uh, it kind of sounds familiar, but here we go.

[00:24:20] [SPEAKER_02]: Here's one that never made it.

    [00:24:22] [SPEAKER_08]: Okay.

[00:24:30] [SPEAKER_03]: Welcome to foosball radio.

[00:25:03] [SPEAKER_02]: So there's an example of one that didn't make the cut.

[00:25:06] [SPEAKER_06]: I am glad it didn't make the cut, Tom.

[00:25:11] [SPEAKER_02]: So I've got, uh, a whole series of, um, what's called music beds, uh, in, in, in production.

[00:25:18] [SPEAKER_02]: So, and I tried out all kinds of different stuff and there, in fact, um, I, I actually,

[00:25:24] [SPEAKER_02]: uh, stole a couple of intros from, from songs people are familiar with.

[00:25:28] [SPEAKER_02]: Uh, I use something from, uh, from Jack White.

[00:25:32] [SPEAKER_02]: Um, and also, um, uh, Joe Bonamassa, who's a blues player.

[00:25:36] [SPEAKER_02]: Uh, they had a couple of tracks that I thought, Hey, these would be great.

[00:25:39] [SPEAKER_02]: And then my wife said, um, yeah, I think those are copyrighted.

[00:25:44] [SPEAKER_06]: Oh, that I was going to ask, like, how do you do that without, you know, a copyright issue?

    [00:25:49] [SPEAKER_02]: Right.

    [00:25:50] [SPEAKER_02]: Exactly.

[00:25:51] [SPEAKER_02]: Well, so I had to avoid those.

[00:25:52] [SPEAKER_02]: So what I have is, uh, is what they call a music library.

[00:25:56] [SPEAKER_02]: And in, in production, uh, you purchase the library and once it's purchased, you have permission

[00:26:01] [SPEAKER_02]: to use it any way you'd like.

[00:26:03] [SPEAKER_02]: So from the past, I have, you know, three or four of those, those libraries.

[00:26:08] [SPEAKER_02]: So that's where I find a lot of my music and it's not, it's not contemporary stuff you'd

[00:26:12] [SPEAKER_02]: hear on our radio necessarily, but it's, it's music that somebody else produced, uh, in,

[00:26:16] [SPEAKER_02]: in, uh, in a company that makes that kind of music.

[00:26:19] [SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, it's like, I, you know, I tried some stuff and some of it was not good.

    [00:26:24] [SPEAKER_02]: Not, not good.

[00:26:26] [SPEAKER_06]: Well, I mean, no, that was, uh, I mean, it was, it was well produced, uh, but it just,

[00:26:33] [SPEAKER_06]: uh, I, I liked the intro you got, Tom.

    [00:26:37] [SPEAKER_06]: Me too.

    [00:26:38] [SPEAKER_06]: I think it works.

[00:26:38] [SPEAKER_06]: So, you know, I know you guys had some other segments too, because you've, you know, you've

    [00:26:44] [SPEAKER_06]: had several different co-hosts.

[00:26:45] [SPEAKER_06]: Like you, you had a, you had an IPA thing, I think.

    [00:26:49] [SPEAKER_02]: Right.

[00:26:49] [SPEAKER_02]: Uh, so, and that really, when you think about it, that was well, you know, well into 2020,

[00:26:56] [SPEAKER_02]: April of 2020, by the time we, we started to do Foos Talk live.

[00:27:00] [SPEAKER_02]: And because it was live, um, Jim Stevens was, was, he's actually, uh, the instigator.

[00:27:06] [SPEAKER_02]: He said, Hey, let's do something live.

    [00:27:08] [SPEAKER_02]: And I said, Oh, okay.

    [00:27:10] [SPEAKER_02]: Um, we'll change it up.

[00:27:12] [SPEAKER_02]: And of course we started doing that.

[00:27:14] [SPEAKER_02]: And, um, he said, I'd, I'd really like the opportunity to just, let's have a drink together

    [00:27:19] [SPEAKER_02]: because we can't play foosball.

[00:27:21] [SPEAKER_02]: We can't go out and hang out together.

[00:27:22] [SPEAKER_02]: So let's just, let's have a, let's have a drink together, uh, at the beginning of the

    [00:27:26] [SPEAKER_02]: show every week.

[00:27:27] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, okay, what are you thinking?

[00:27:29] [SPEAKER_02]: He's like, well, how about an IPA?

    [00:27:31] [SPEAKER_02]: Like, well, I like IPAs.

    [00:27:33] [SPEAKER_02]: I dig those.

[00:27:34] [SPEAKER_02]: So, um, we started that, that stayed with us for probably what, the better part of three

[00:27:39] [SPEAKER_02]: years, I think three, maybe four.

[00:27:42] [SPEAKER_02]: But you know, it, uh, it, at the time, the time I thought, whatever.

[00:27:48] [SPEAKER_02]: So we kind of made a segment out of it, had a silly music bed.

[00:27:52] [SPEAKER_02]: The music bed was intentionally cheap and campy, you know, kind of like, like lounge music,

[00:27:59] [SPEAKER_02]: like hanging out, having a, you know, an adult beverage.

[00:28:02] [SPEAKER_02]: And, uh, that seemed to hang in there for a while, although there was a lot of complaints.

[00:28:07] [SPEAKER_02]: Um, now of course, Jim and I were convinced that was the most popular feature of all,

[00:28:12] [SPEAKER_02]: you know, like there was nothing better, but, um, some other co-hosts like, oh, Mark

[00:28:18] [SPEAKER_02]: Torres, uh, being one hated it, just hated it.

[00:28:22] [SPEAKER_06]: Like, and he would, why, why, why did he hate it?

[00:28:25] [SPEAKER_02]: Just didn't like, I guess he just didn't like the fact that we were sharing something

    [00:28:28] [SPEAKER_02]: that he didn't consume.

[00:28:30] [SPEAKER_02]: He's like, he doesn't, he drinks, but he doesn't drink IPAs.

[00:28:33] [SPEAKER_02]: And it just, if I think he felt like, um, I'm not part of this.

[00:28:37] [SPEAKER_02]: So why would I care about it?

    [00:28:39] [SPEAKER_02]: So, and I get that.

    [00:28:40] [SPEAKER_02]: I get that.

[00:28:41] [SPEAKER_06]: As a, as a listener, I would, uh, fast forward through it.

    [00:28:45] [SPEAKER_02]: Okay.

    [00:28:46] [SPEAKER_02]: Gotcha.

    [00:28:47] [SPEAKER_06]: If I'm just being honest.

    [00:28:48] [SPEAKER_02]: Yes.

    [00:28:48] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:28:50] [SPEAKER_02]: So, and this, this was, there were a few things we tried along the way.

[00:28:54] [SPEAKER_02]: Another one was something called the mystery guest.

    [00:28:59] [SPEAKER_02]: Oops.

    [00:29:03] [SPEAKER_02]: Oops.

    [00:29:03] [SPEAKER_02]: Oops.

[00:29:04] [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I mean, for a gag, maybe, maybe once, maybe twice, it would have been okay,

[00:29:08] [SPEAKER_02]: but it just, yeah, just missed the mark.

    [00:29:11] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, okay.

[00:29:13] [SPEAKER_06]: Who were the, who were the mystery guests?

[00:29:14] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, uh, one of them was quite good.

    [00:29:16] [SPEAKER_02]: Trevor Park.

    [00:29:18] [SPEAKER_06]: That's yeah, that's good.

    [00:29:19] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:29:19] [SPEAKER_02]: He came on and, and, uh, did a voice that was, was pretty funny actually.

[00:29:24] [SPEAKER_02]: Uh, and nobody could figure out who he was because we were just, we were supposed to

[00:29:28] [SPEAKER_02]: like listen to his voice and figure out, okay, who could this put?

[00:29:31] [SPEAKER_02]: And it was, has to be somebody everybody knows as far as foosball goes.

[00:29:35] [SPEAKER_02]: And, uh, you know, of course when Trevor came on, uh, he hadn't been on the show before

[00:29:39] [SPEAKER_02]: and he used this really wacky voice as the mystery guest.

[00:29:41] [SPEAKER_02]: And it was just like, wow, who is that?

[00:29:44] [SPEAKER_02]: And, and, uh, finally, you know, when it was revealed, in fact, I think it was Mark

[00:29:48] [SPEAKER_02]: was the only one who knew who it was because Mark and, uh, and he had, Mark had talked

[00:29:53] [SPEAKER_02]: Trevor into coming on.

[00:29:55] [SPEAKER_02]: Um, Trevor sadly has not been back since.

[00:29:59] [SPEAKER_02]: So it's, um, what are you going to do?

[00:30:03] [SPEAKER_02]: Um, I did, I also wanted to play something early on.

[00:30:07] [SPEAKER_02]: We were doing, um, kind of a profile thing for, for, uh, and especially for the, the very

[00:30:14] [SPEAKER_02]: first episode, we wanted to make sure people knew who we were.

[00:30:17] [SPEAKER_02]: And so we built profiles where, uh, you know, Chuck and Nino could explain who they were and

[00:30:24] [SPEAKER_02]: why they were getting into this.

    [00:30:26] [SPEAKER_02]: So I wanted to, I'll play Chuck's version first.

[00:30:29] [SPEAKER_02]: Uh, it's again, it's just him talking about his, his beginnings in foosball, but I think

[00:30:34] [SPEAKER_02]: people might, if they've heard the first episode might be familiar with this, but here's Chuck.

[00:30:38] [SPEAKER_02]: So Chuck, what, uh, what drew you into the sport at the age of 30?

    [00:30:41] [SPEAKER_02]: You say?

    [00:30:41] [SPEAKER_02]: I was a good bar player.

    [00:30:43] [SPEAKER_04]: Okay.

[00:30:43] [SPEAKER_04]: You talk to everybody that played back then, they were the best, you know, because they

[00:30:49] [SPEAKER_04]: were the best of their little clique.

    [00:30:50] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.

    [00:30:51] [SPEAKER_04]: Right, right, right.

    [00:30:52] [SPEAKER_04]: That's what it was.

    [00:30:52] [SPEAKER_00]: Everybody had them.

[00:30:53] [SPEAKER_04]: Nobody, nobody else to compare them to necessarily.

    [00:30:56] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.

[00:30:56] [SPEAKER_04]: And you know, I, I was the best, you know?

    [00:30:59] [SPEAKER_04]: Okay.

[00:30:59] [SPEAKER_04]: Until I met some people that knew how to play.

[00:31:03] [SPEAKER_04]: Then you were like, wait, there is something to this game.

[00:31:05] [SPEAKER_04]: And there was, yeah.

[00:31:06] [SPEAKER_04]: They crushed me and, uh, and, uh, I was playing with Mosher at the time and they, they crushed

    [00:31:10] [SPEAKER_04]: both of us.

    [00:31:11] [SPEAKER_04]: Tom Mosher.

    [00:31:11] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.

[00:31:11] [SPEAKER_04]: And, uh, you know, it pissed me off.

    [00:31:15] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.

    [00:31:15] [SPEAKER_04]: Well, it should.

[00:31:17] [SPEAKER_02]: So what, what kept you going?

[00:31:19] [SPEAKER_02]: What, what, uh, why'd you keep coming back?

[00:31:21] [SPEAKER_04]: Uh, to, to beat them, to beat everybody, you know?

    [00:31:24] [SPEAKER_05]: Okay.

[00:31:24] [SPEAKER_05]: To be the best.

    [00:31:25] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

    [00:31:25] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

    [00:31:26] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:31:26] [SPEAKER_02]: And you made it to expert level as well, right?

    [00:31:28] [SPEAKER_02]: Correct.

[00:31:29] [SPEAKER_02]: So that was Chuck's, uh, kind of explanation of how and why he got into the industry and,

[00:31:34] [SPEAKER_02]: and, uh, you know, started playing foosball at 30.

[00:31:36] [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, very few people I've met who are good at foosball started at, you know, that old

[00:31:41] [SPEAKER_02]: in age, you know, 30 years in.

    [00:31:44] [SPEAKER_02]: So.

    [00:31:44] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:31:44] [SPEAKER_06]: Old, old as hell at 30.

    [00:31:46] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

    [00:31:47] Yeah.

[00:31:47] [SPEAKER_02]: He's, I think he's always been old since he, since he, uh, you know, was conceived of.

[00:31:53] [SPEAKER_02]: I think Chuck was born old.

[00:31:55] [SPEAKER_06]: Chuck was born old.

    [00:31:56] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

    [00:31:57] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

    [00:31:57] [SPEAKER_06]: I could see that.

    [00:31:58] [SPEAKER_06]: I could see that.

[00:32:00] [SPEAKER_02]: He's certainly, um, one of my closest friends now.

[00:32:03] [SPEAKER_02]: And, uh, you know, we, we, you know, at any time or in the future, certainly love to

[00:32:08] [SPEAKER_02]: have him back on just to, just to talk about stuff back in the past.

    [00:32:11] [SPEAKER_02]: But.

    [00:32:11] [SPEAKER_06]: I love Chuck.

    [00:32:13] [SPEAKER_06]: I love Chuck.

[00:32:14] [SPEAKER_06]: He's one of my favorite people to see at a time.

    [00:32:15] [SPEAKER_06]: I'm actually, I'm just, I'm glad Chuck's coming back out again.

    [00:32:18] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:32:19] [SPEAKER_06]: So, uh, Chuck used to, Chuck used to tour a lot.

    [00:32:23] [SPEAKER_07]: Okay.

[00:32:24] [SPEAKER_06]: Used to hit a bunch of tournaments.

[00:32:26] [SPEAKER_06]: And then I know COVID kind of put the kibosh on that.

[00:32:29] [SPEAKER_06]: It did that for a lot of people, but the fact that he's coming out again is just, it's

    [00:32:33] [SPEAKER_06]: great.

    [00:32:33] [SPEAKER_06]: I love seeing Chuck.

    [00:32:34] [SPEAKER_02]: It's good news.

    [00:32:35] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, for sure.

    [00:32:36] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

    [00:32:36] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

    [00:32:37] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh yeah.

[00:32:37] [SPEAKER_02]: So of course we had one for Nino as well.

[00:32:39] [SPEAKER_02]: So here's, here's Nino's segment about, uh, what, what, what got him into the whole

    [00:32:43] [SPEAKER_02]: thing.

[00:32:43] [SPEAKER_05]: So Nino, give me an idea.

[00:32:45] [SPEAKER_05]: How long you've been playing this game?

    [00:32:46] [SPEAKER_05]: Probably since I was 14, 15 years old.

[00:32:50] [SPEAKER_05]: Give us some perspective here.

    [00:32:51] [SPEAKER_05]: What was it?

    [00:32:53] [SPEAKER_05]: 1980s?

    [00:32:53] [SPEAKER_05]: Early, early 80s.

    [00:32:54] [SPEAKER_05]: Early 80s.

    [00:32:55] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.

    [00:32:55] [SPEAKER_05]: Okay.

    [00:32:56] [SPEAKER_05]: Absolutely.

    [00:32:56] [SPEAKER_05]: All right.

[00:32:56] [SPEAKER_05]: So you're this punk kid coming along.

    [00:32:58] [SPEAKER_05]: And I was hyper.

    [00:32:59] [SPEAKER_05]: Okay.

    [00:32:59] [SPEAKER_05]: I was very vocal.

    [00:33:01] [SPEAKER_05]: Very vocal.

    [00:33:01] [SPEAKER_05]: I wanted to win.

    [00:33:05] [SPEAKER_02]: Again, classic Nino.

    [00:33:07] [SPEAKER_02]: Very vocal.

[00:33:09] [SPEAKER_02]: Very, I mean, he's to this day, he's still, you know, he gets pretty aggressive sometimes

    [00:33:12] [SPEAKER_02]: on the table.

    [00:33:13] [SPEAKER_06]: Oh yeah.

    [00:33:14] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh yeah.

    [00:33:14] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:33:15] [SPEAKER_02]: And, and long before I met him, I understand he was, uh, he was really, really good back

[00:33:19] [SPEAKER_06]: in the nineties, you know, uh, Nino, Nino was the man, all the stories I heard about Nino

[00:33:23] [SPEAKER_06]: in the Albany area.

[00:33:24] [SPEAKER_06]: He was the guy to beat.

    [00:33:25] [SPEAKER_02]: Yep.

    [00:33:26] [SPEAKER_02]: Exactly.

[00:33:27] [SPEAKER_02]: And he always had this, uh, this great five row and just a, just a killer snake shot,

    [00:33:32] [SPEAKER_02]: just a killer snake shot.

[00:33:33] [SPEAKER_02]: Uh, and of course now we know, uh, since, since, uh, Nino has, uh, become, uh, legendary,

[00:33:40] [SPEAKER_02]: uh, as a foosball player, but also the dad of one of the best players coming up.

[00:33:45] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, Samsonite and, uh.

    [00:33:47] [SPEAKER_06]: Oh yeah.

    [00:33:48] [SPEAKER_06]: Old Sam.

    [00:33:49] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:33:49] [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, we're, uh, we're mighty lucky to, in fact, um, the second episode of foosball

[00:33:54] [SPEAKER_02]: radio featured Sam and his sister, Hannah.

[00:33:58] [SPEAKER_02]: Uh, it was called next generation and they, uh, they both took a turn to talk about, you

[00:34:03] [SPEAKER_02]: know, uh, being very young and being great at foosball.

[00:34:08] [SPEAKER_06]: So Sam was what?

[00:34:10] [SPEAKER_06]: Nine or 10 at the time, right?

    [00:34:11] [SPEAKER_02]: Yes.

    [00:34:11] [SPEAKER_02]: So he's now 16.

[00:34:13] [SPEAKER_02]: So he would have been 10.

    [00:34:14] [SPEAKER_02]: Yep.

    [00:34:15] [SPEAKER_06]: 10.

    [00:34:15] [SPEAKER_06]: Yep.

    [00:34:16] [SPEAKER_02]: 10 years old.

[00:34:16] [SPEAKER_06]: And how, how old's his sister?

    [00:34:18] [SPEAKER_02]: Um, she's a few years older.

    [00:34:20] [SPEAKER_02]: Let's see.

    [00:34:20] [SPEAKER_02]: She's probably 19, I think by now.

    [00:34:23] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:34:23] [SPEAKER_06]: Cause I know, I know she was, she was into it for a little while and then she just stopped

[00:34:28] [SPEAKER_06]: and asked Nino and he was like, ah, you know, social media, whatever.

    [00:34:33] [SPEAKER_06]: Right.

[00:34:33] [SPEAKER_02]: She's a teenager and she, she found, um, you know, other things.

[00:34:37] [SPEAKER_02]: I think it's, it's tougher for, for girls, especially at that age because there's so

[00:34:41] [SPEAKER_02]: much pressure, peer pressure to be quote unquote with it and happening with, with, uh, the

[00:34:47] [SPEAKER_02]: crowd at school and stuff.

[00:34:48] [SPEAKER_02]: I think, you know, guys are, are a bit easier to, I mean, sure there's some pressure on, on

[00:34:53] [SPEAKER_02]: guys too, but I think for girls, it's like, um, if I'm playing foosball and that's kind

[00:34:57] [SPEAKER_02]: of not uncool, it's not kind of like, not all that cool.

    [00:35:00] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

    [00:35:01] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:35:02] [SPEAKER_06]: Kind of, you know.

    [00:35:03] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

    [00:35:04] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:35:04] [SPEAKER_06]: But then when you tell, when you tell the other girls like, yeah, but I mean, I could

[00:35:07] [SPEAKER_06]: win tens of dollars.

    [00:35:09] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

    [00:35:11] [SPEAKER_02]: It's got the appeal, right?

    [00:35:12] [SPEAKER_02]: It's real.

    [00:35:13] [SPEAKER_02]: It's real.

    [00:35:14] [SPEAKER_02]: A little bit.

    [00:35:14] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

    [00:35:15] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

    [00:35:16] [SPEAKER_02]: Guess what?

    [00:35:17] [SPEAKER_02]: I could, I could even win a trophy, you know?

    [00:35:20] [SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.

    [00:35:21] [SPEAKER_07]: But.

[00:35:21] [SPEAKER_07]: Or, or, or a trip to Spain.

    [00:35:23] [SPEAKER_07]: Yes.

[00:35:24] [SPEAKER_07]: So there is that.

[00:35:25] [SPEAKER_02]: And she did go to, she did go to the world cup, um, Germany, I believe.

[00:35:30] [SPEAKER_02]: And if I'm not mistaken, I think she also went to France.

[00:35:33] [SPEAKER_02]: So had a couple of tries along with Sam.

[00:35:36] [SPEAKER_02]: They, they, as a family, they've always gone to Europe to, uh, to, to vacation, of course.

[00:35:40] [SPEAKER_02]: They'll go for like 10 days, but, um, you know, Sam is going to be back there again this

    [00:35:45] [SPEAKER_02]: year or I'm sorry, in 2025.

[00:35:47] [SPEAKER_02]: So, uh, I don't know if, if, uh, if Hannah will be joining them necessarily.

    [00:35:51] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:35:52] [SPEAKER_06]: He qualified in Michigan.

    [00:35:54] [SPEAKER_02]: Yes.

[00:35:55] [SPEAKER_06]: Getting second open singles.

[00:35:56] [SPEAKER_06]: Cause Brandon had already qualified.

[00:35:58] [SPEAKER_06]: So, uh, Sam, Sam, uh, Sam's developing open singles.

[00:36:03] [SPEAKER_02]: Second in open singles.

    [00:36:05] [SPEAKER_02]: Wow.

    [00:36:06] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

    [00:36:06] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:36:07] [SPEAKER_06]: He just, you know, he, kids playing good, man.

    [00:36:10] [SPEAKER_06]: Oh, he's playing really good.

    [00:36:11] [SPEAKER_06]: Anyway.

    [00:36:12] [SPEAKER_06]: He's wailing on it.

    [00:36:13] [SPEAKER_06]: I'm just kidding.

    [00:36:14] [SPEAKER_02]: He's stepping all over him.

[00:36:16] [SPEAKER_02]: He's, you know, he's just really, um, a matured as well.

[00:36:19] [SPEAKER_02]: Cause we still remember Sam standing on a box.

    [00:36:23] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh yeah.

[00:36:24] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, being able to see over the top of the table a little.

    [00:36:27] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:36:28] [SPEAKER_06]: I should have, I should have punched him back then.

[00:36:30] [SPEAKER_06]: You know, you weren't thinking, you just weren't thinking.

[00:36:35] [SPEAKER_06]: It's like, it's like training an elephant, you know, then they get too big and it's just,

    [00:36:38] [SPEAKER_06]: you can't handle them.

[00:36:40] [SPEAKER_06]: So you just got to do it when they're small.

    [00:36:42] [SPEAKER_06]: Right.

    [00:36:42] [SPEAKER_02]: Exactly.

[00:36:43] [SPEAKER_06]: Keep them in their place.

[00:36:45] [SPEAKER_02]: Keep them in their place.

    [00:36:46] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

    [00:36:47] [SPEAKER_06]: That's a big elephant right there.

    [00:36:48] [SPEAKER_02]: There it is.

    [00:36:49] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

    [00:36:50] [SPEAKER_02]: Um, yeah.

[00:36:51] [SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, when we think back, back, back six years now, uh, I still remember, um, when

[00:36:57] [SPEAKER_02]: we went to, I think it was a smash down.

[00:36:59] [SPEAKER_02]: It was right before the first episode.

[00:37:02] [SPEAKER_02]: And I kind of got on the mic at the smash down to say, Hey guys, there's this new podcast

    [00:37:06] [SPEAKER_02]: coming out.

    [00:37:06] [SPEAKER_02]: It starts tomorrow.

[00:37:07] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, check it out.

    [00:37:09] [SPEAKER_02]: Foosballradio.com.

[00:37:10] [SPEAKER_02]: Um, at the time I was a little embarrassed by that, but, but, um, you know, little by little,

[00:37:15] [SPEAKER_02]: every time that I went to a smash down, people would say, Hey man, I've, I've heard your,

    [00:37:20] [SPEAKER_02]: your podcast.

    [00:37:21] [SPEAKER_02]: It's, it's actually pretty cool.

[00:37:23] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, Oh, people are noticing.

    [00:37:25] [SPEAKER_02]: Okay.

    [00:37:26] [SPEAKER_02]: That's a, that's an interesting thing.

[00:37:29] [SPEAKER_02]: Um, uh, I really, truly regardless of, of how good, um, the launch was and, and, uh,

[00:37:36] [SPEAKER_02]: and how much, uh, uh, uh, should we say support we were getting from, from Eric and some other

[00:37:41] [SPEAKER_02]: folks, I just, I really wasn't convinced it was going to last very long.

    [00:37:46] [SPEAKER_06]: Six years, Tom.

[00:37:47] [SPEAKER_06]: Look at how far you've come.

    [00:37:48] [SPEAKER_02]: Dang.

    [00:37:49] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

    [00:37:49] [SPEAKER_02]: What the hay.

[00:37:51] [SPEAKER_02]: Um, so I wanted to play you something else that we used, uh, to, to, to, to promote this,

[00:37:57] [SPEAKER_02]: the, the, the, the podcast.

[00:37:59] [SPEAKER_02]: And it's just a, it's a real quick piece, but it was something that we ran very early on before

    [00:38:03] [SPEAKER_02]: the first episode.

[00:38:04] [SPEAKER_02]: So here, here that comes.

[00:38:08] [SPEAKER_03]: Let's meet our hosts, Nino Dijon.

[00:38:11] [SPEAKER_05]: So Nino, give me an idea.

[00:38:12] [SPEAKER_05]: How long you've been playing this game?

    [00:38:13] [SPEAKER_05]: Probably since I was 14, 15 years old.

[00:38:17] [SPEAKER_05]: Give us some perspective here.

    [00:38:18] [SPEAKER_05]: What was it?

    [00:38:20] [SPEAKER_05]: 1980s?

    [00:38:20] [SPEAKER_05]: Early, early 80s.

    [00:38:21] [SPEAKER_05]: Early 80s.

    [00:38:22] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.

    [00:38:23] [SPEAKER_05]: Okay.

    [00:38:23] [SPEAKER_05]: All right.

[00:38:24] [SPEAKER_05]: So you're this punk kid coming along and I was hyper.

    [00:38:27] [SPEAKER_05]: Okay.

    [00:38:27] [SPEAKER_05]: I was very vocal.

    [00:38:28] [SPEAKER_05]: Very vocal.

    [00:38:28] [SPEAKER_05]: I wanted to win.

    [00:38:29] [SPEAKER_02]: And Chuck Dooley.

[00:38:31] [SPEAKER_02]: So Chuck, what, uh, what drew you into the sport at the age of 30?

    [00:38:34] [SPEAKER_02]: You say?

    [00:38:34] [SPEAKER_02]: I was a good bar player.

    [00:38:35] [SPEAKER_02]: Okay.

[00:38:36] [SPEAKER_04]: You talk to everybody that played back then.

[00:38:38] [SPEAKER_04]: They were the best.

    [00:38:39] [SPEAKER_04]: Uh-huh.

[00:38:40] [SPEAKER_04]: You know, because they were the best of their little clique.

    [00:38:43] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.

    [00:38:44] [SPEAKER_04]: Right, right, right.

    [00:38:44] [SPEAKER_04]: That's what it was.

[00:38:45] [SPEAKER_00]: Everybody had their group.

[00:38:45] [SPEAKER_04]: Nobody, nobody else to compare them to necessarily.

    [00:38:48] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.

[00:38:48] [SPEAKER_03]: And you know, I, I was the best.

    [00:38:51] [SPEAKER_03]: Foosball Radio.

[00:38:52] [SPEAKER_03]: The ultimate foosball podcast.

[00:38:56] [SPEAKER_02]: So there was, uh, again, a lot of experimentation, playing with the voices, using different, um, music beds, et cetera.

[00:39:04] [SPEAKER_02]: And, you know, trying to, to put it, make a splash.

    [00:39:08] [SPEAKER_02]: Sort of.

    [00:39:09] [SPEAKER_02]: Kind of.

[00:39:12] [SPEAKER_06]: No, I, like I said, Tom, you, you know, I'm, I, uh, I'm just reaping the benefits of all the hard work.

[00:39:19] [SPEAKER_06]: You know, coming in when I came in and being able to just sit around and talk foosball on a Sunday night.

    [00:39:25] [SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.

    [00:39:26] [SPEAKER_06]: Is, uh, I mean, I love it.

    [00:39:28] [SPEAKER_06]: I enjoy it.

[00:39:28] [SPEAKER_06]: And I've told you before, if you ever just, if you get sick of me, you tell me.

[00:39:32] [SPEAKER_06]: But nothing, nothing makes me feel better than going to a tournament and having people come up to me and tell me how much they enjoy the show.

    [00:39:39] [SPEAKER_02]: Exactly right.

[00:39:40] [SPEAKER_02]: That, that never gets old, right?

    [00:39:42] [SPEAKER_02]: It's, um.

    [00:39:42] [SPEAKER_02]: Nah, man.

[00:39:42] [SPEAKER_02]: Uh, this last weekend, no exception.

[00:39:45] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, people just, just, uh, strike up conversations and it's, and it's so cool because you feel like you already know them somehow.

    [00:39:51] [SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely.

    [00:39:52] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:39:53] [SPEAKER_02]: Uh, there was, um, I'm trying to think now.

[00:39:55] [SPEAKER_02]: Randy from, uh, Wisconsin, uh, just sat down.

[00:39:59] [SPEAKER_02]: We were, we were watching a match and he just came over and said, hey man, you know, we just started talking and stuff.

[00:40:03] [SPEAKER_02]: And little by little, we got to know each other and we ended up playing some pickup games later on and introduced me to some of his friends.

[00:40:09] [SPEAKER_02]: I believe, um, uh, JD and I forgot the other guy's name, but they, uh, they were so cool.

[00:40:15] [SPEAKER_02]: And we're just, and, and I, it's like, okay, I'm, I'm meeting new people when I go out, when I leave the studio.

[00:40:22] [SPEAKER_02]: It's, it's, uh, it's, it's a neat kind of, uh, connection that you already have sometimes with people and they're very kind about it.

    [00:40:29] [SPEAKER_02]: So.

    [00:40:30] [SPEAKER_06]: Absolutely.

[00:40:30] [SPEAKER_06]: I think, I think that was, um, I think that was Randy Klitz.

    [00:40:35] [SPEAKER_06]: Possibly.

    [00:40:36] [SPEAKER_06]: He's been, yeah, he's been around for a long time.

[00:40:38] [SPEAKER_06]: Super, super nice guy.

    [00:40:39] [SPEAKER_06]: A good player.

    [00:40:40] [SPEAKER_06]: Okay.

[00:40:41] [SPEAKER_06]: Um, yeah, it's, you know, again, just, Hey, Randy, I appreciate the show.

    [00:40:47] [SPEAKER_06]: I like the show.

[00:40:48] [SPEAKER_06]: It's, I mean, the only thing that could make it better is if they put money in my hand, you know,

[00:40:51] [SPEAKER_06]: like, Hey, I love what you do.

    [00:40:52] [SPEAKER_06]: There's a hundred bucks.

    [00:40:53] [SPEAKER_06]: Right.

    [00:40:53] [SPEAKER_06]: But.

[00:40:55] [SPEAKER_02]: Well, here's the, here's a, the other thing, you know, we, we talked about this one.

[00:40:59] [SPEAKER_02]: We were with, uh, with Clay and Adam, um, modern foos and foosball radio.

[00:41:03] [SPEAKER_02]: Uh, we both have Patreon pages and, uh, Patreon is, is, um, in case you're unaware, uh, Patreon

[00:41:11] [SPEAKER_02]: is really a place where it's kind of like GoFundMe for people who create content.

    [00:41:16] [SPEAKER_02]: Yep.

[00:41:17] [SPEAKER_02]: So you create something like a podcast or you do, I don't know, videos, whatever you

    [00:41:22] [SPEAKER_02]: do online.

[00:41:24] [SPEAKER_02]: And you can say to, to your, uh, fans, people that like your stuff, Hey, listen, you know,

[00:41:29] [SPEAKER_02]: if you're really like our material, uh, here's an opportunity to help us continue this.

[00:41:33] [SPEAKER_02]: And, and, uh, you know, we invite them to go to patreon.com and, and, uh, you know, you

[00:41:38] [SPEAKER_02]: know, kicking maybe five bucks a month or whatever, whatever they, they feel they can

[00:41:42] [SPEAKER_02]: spare us is cool.

[00:41:43] [SPEAKER_02]: Or even just become a free member, which we, we have quite a few of those now.

[00:41:47] [SPEAKER_02]: Um, and, uh, I've always been meaning to make a list of all the free members that are

[00:41:51] [SPEAKER_02]: in there to say, Hey, you know, to take him a shout out.

[00:41:54] [SPEAKER_02]: Um, but it's, uh, it's, it's really kind of gratifying in a way that, and then some,

[00:42:01] [SPEAKER_02]: some people, um, in fact, we talked to Dwayne Stewart, uh, over the weekend at, uh, Michigan

[00:42:06] [SPEAKER_02]: state and Dwayne has been as a patron, he's been with us for God, you know, for, for better

    [00:42:11] [SPEAKER_02]: part of a year now.

    [00:42:13] [SPEAKER_02]: And, uh, he's a great guy.

[00:42:14] [SPEAKER_02]: He's from, uh, from, uh, you know, the, uh, Pennsylvania area.

    [00:42:18] [SPEAKER_02]: And he's, uh, he's a, he's a, a trademark lawyer.

[00:42:21] [SPEAKER_02]: He's, he works in, uh, in law, uh, and went to Harvard.

    [00:42:26] [SPEAKER_02]: Nice.

[00:42:27] [SPEAKER_02]: Um, he did a full interview with us for, as a Patreon profile at, um, at the Great Lakes

    [00:42:32] [SPEAKER_02]: of Classics.

[00:42:32] [SPEAKER_02]: So we're, we're going to air that pretty soon, um, in our list.

[00:42:36] [SPEAKER_02]: Uh, some other people I'd like to mention too, that we got a chance to talk to, including,

    [00:42:40] [SPEAKER_02]: uh, Seda Kruger.

[00:42:42] [SPEAKER_02]: That would be Teddy Kruger's daughter.

    [00:42:44] [SPEAKER_06]: Teddy Kruger's daughter.

    [00:42:45] [SPEAKER_02]: Wow.

[00:42:46] [SPEAKER_02]: She was, she was terrific.

[00:42:48] [SPEAKER_02]: And I gotta say, um, I'm not a hundred percent sure.

    [00:42:51] [SPEAKER_02]: I think she might be 13, 14.

    [00:42:53] [SPEAKER_02]: Give her 12.

    [00:42:54] [SPEAKER_02]: 12, 12.

    [00:42:55] [SPEAKER_02]: Really?

    [00:42:56] [SPEAKER_02]: Okay.

[00:42:56] [SPEAKER_02]: Um, I was really impressed because she's so, uh, well-spoken and very polite and super

    [00:43:05] [SPEAKER_02]: smart.

[00:43:05] [SPEAKER_02]: And she, in fact, said that she's planning on being a lawyer when she, uh, when she becomes

[00:43:10] [SPEAKER_02]: of age to go to school.

    [00:43:12] [SPEAKER_06]: Criminal?

    [00:43:13] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:43:13] [SPEAKER_02]: I, I'm not sure if she said criminal.

[00:43:15] [SPEAKER_02]: I think she might've mentioned criminal law, but, uh, she had a couple.

    [00:43:18] [SPEAKER_02]: Let's go.

    [00:43:18] [SPEAKER_02]: Seda.

    [00:43:19] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:43:19] [SPEAKER_06]: Shout out to Seda.

[00:43:20] [SPEAKER_06]: I'll give you my, I'll give you my number, Seda.

    [00:43:22] [SPEAKER_06]: Seda Kruger.

[00:43:24] [SPEAKER_02]: Randy's going to need you someday.

    [00:43:25] [SPEAKER_02]: You never know.

[00:43:26] [SPEAKER_02]: No, no, no, no, no, no.

[00:43:29] [SPEAKER_02]: Um, another great, uh, conversation was, uh, Sean Lee from Toronto.

    [00:43:36] [SPEAKER_02]: Wow.

    [00:43:37] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:43:38] [SPEAKER_02]: Another super, oh my goodness, man.

[00:43:40] [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, and we could have gone on for quite some time or the interview, I think lasted

[00:43:44] [SPEAKER_02]: better part of an hour, but he was also getting ready to go.

[00:43:47] [SPEAKER_02]: So, uh, he had to, had to split, but it was, um, you know, again, it's, it's so gratifying

[00:43:52] [SPEAKER_02]: that people want to sit down and just chat, um, uh, and just talk about what they do and

[00:43:56] [SPEAKER_02]: foosball and who they are.

[00:43:58] [SPEAKER_02]: Um, I love those stories, you know, all the stories that people tell about, you know, who

[00:44:01] [SPEAKER_02]: they are and where they came from, man, that's, that's, there's an endless supply of that.

    [00:44:06] [SPEAKER_06]: I love it.

    [00:44:07] [SPEAKER_02]: I love it.

[00:44:08] [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, we certainly like talking to top pros too.

    [00:44:11] [SPEAKER_02]: So.

    [00:44:12] [SPEAKER_06]: Eh, whatever.

    [00:44:13] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:44:14] [SPEAKER_06]: No, but no, no, absolutely.

[00:44:17] [SPEAKER_06]: Uh, getting insight from better players is always beneficial, but I love to know where,

[00:44:22] [SPEAKER_06]: you know, where players come from, where they started and, uh, you know, what keeps them

[00:44:28] [SPEAKER_06]: motivated to, you know, to spend money and go to tournaments.

[00:44:32] [SPEAKER_06]: So, you know, it's, uh, yeah.

[00:44:35] [SPEAKER_02]: It's, you know, you think about, okay.

    [00:44:37] [SPEAKER_02]: When people have, um, a hobby, whether it's fishing, whether it's golf, whether it's, I don't

[00:44:44] [SPEAKER_02]: know, playing volleyball or cornhole.

[00:44:47] [SPEAKER_02]: Um, sometimes they get so into it.

[00:44:49] [SPEAKER_02]: They, they travel and do, you know, do tournaments and, and, uh, and make money at what they do.

    [00:44:54] [SPEAKER_02]: So there's always an expense.

[00:44:56] [SPEAKER_02]: There's always some kind of, you've got to, you've got to invest.

[00:45:00] [SPEAKER_02]: And, uh, I think foosball is, is just like that.

[00:45:03] [SPEAKER_02]: It's just, you know, you invest in this, what you think it's worth it for you to, to play

[00:45:08] [SPEAKER_02]: and to, to, to get better.

[00:45:09] [SPEAKER_02]: And, and to, you know, of course, uh, shall we say satisfy your addiction?

    [00:45:14] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

    [00:45:15] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

    [00:45:15] [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, a better term.

[00:45:17] [SPEAKER_06]: Well, again, Tom, this is the only thing I do.

    [00:45:20] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:45:21] [SPEAKER_06]: I work, I work and I, I spend time with my wife and, uh, you know, we travel and.

[00:45:28] [SPEAKER_06]: Uh, foosball is, is my, it's my only outlet.

[00:45:32] [SPEAKER_06]: It's the only outlet I choose to have, you know?

    [00:45:34] [SPEAKER_06]: So, um, I enjoy it.

[00:45:37] [SPEAKER_06]: And, um, you know, I've made some of my best friends on the planet, you know, from foosball.

[00:45:42] [SPEAKER_06]: It's been very beneficial for me.

[00:45:44] [SPEAKER_06]: So I'm going to do it as long as I can.

[00:45:47] [SPEAKER_06]: Um, or at least until it's just not fun anymore.

[00:45:51] [SPEAKER_06]: So hopefully that day, hopefully it'll never happen.

[00:45:53] [SPEAKER_06]: But, um, you know, my story is similar to a lot of people's.

    [00:45:58] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:45:58] [SPEAKER_06]: It's just, uh, you know, some of us come from, uh, we come from different parts of the planet,

[00:46:03] [SPEAKER_06]: different parts of the world, different parts of the country.

[00:46:05] [SPEAKER_06]: And, uh, you know, but we're all drawn to the same thing.

[00:46:08] [SPEAKER_06]: And I, I just love to hear about what draws people to, to foosball.

[00:46:13] [SPEAKER_02]: So, and for you, I know, you know, being in the neighborhood you grew up in, it kind of

[00:46:17] [SPEAKER_02]: saved your life in a way.

    [00:46:19] [SPEAKER_02]: Correct.

    [00:46:19] [SPEAKER_06]: Oh, a little bit.

    [00:46:20] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

    [00:46:21] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:46:22] [SPEAKER_06]: And man, I, when I started playing foosball, it was, um, I stopped, uh, I stopped selling

[00:46:29] [SPEAKER_06]: drugs and running the streets.

[00:46:31] [SPEAKER_06]: And I really just started focusing all my time on practice.

    [00:46:34] [SPEAKER_06]: So.

    [00:46:35] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

    [00:46:36] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:46:37] [SPEAKER_02]: It's, um, as, as a tested, uh, we've seen it over and over again with foosball clubs,

[00:46:42] [SPEAKER_02]: USA and what Michael does, Michael Stahl does with, uh, with the club and, and how they're

[00:46:47] [SPEAKER_02]: getting kids to put their phones down long enough to play foosball.

    [00:46:51] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

    [00:46:51] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, that's impressive.

    [00:46:53] [SPEAKER_06]: They need it.

    [00:46:53] [SPEAKER_06]: They need it.

    [00:46:54] [SPEAKER_06]: They need it.

[00:46:55] [SPEAKER_06]: You know, I remember being a kid in the eighties and, you know, my mom just, just go outside,

    [00:47:01] [SPEAKER_06]: be a kid.

    [00:47:02] [SPEAKER_06]: Right.

[00:47:02] [SPEAKER_06]: Obviously it was different time, but you know, it's, if you're not going to sit in front

[00:47:08] [SPEAKER_06]: of the TV all day, go outside and get dirty.

    [00:47:10] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:47:10] [SPEAKER_06]: Go, you know, go hurt yourself.

    [00:47:12] [SPEAKER_06]: Do something.

    [00:47:12] [SPEAKER_06]: Go, uh, yeah.

[00:47:13] [SPEAKER_06]: Go drink, go drink water out of a hose and, uh, you know, whatever, you know, it's, uh,

[00:47:19] [SPEAKER_02]: in the town I was raised in a very small town in upstate New York, it was, um, very

    [00:47:24] [SPEAKER_02]: much like that.

[00:47:24] [SPEAKER_02]: Just, you know, get on our bikes at 10 o'clock in the morning, disappear and never come back

[00:47:28] [SPEAKER_02]: until, you know, six o'clock at dinnertime.

[00:47:31] [SPEAKER_02]: And, and my, our parents had no idea what we were up to.

    [00:47:33] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, absolutely.

    [00:47:35] [SPEAKER_06]: Absolutely.

[00:47:36] [SPEAKER_06]: Imagine trying to do that now.

[00:47:37] [SPEAKER_06]: Like I, when I leave the house in the morning, I check my pockets.

    [00:47:42] [SPEAKER_06]: I'm S I'm so regimented.

[00:47:43] [SPEAKER_06]: It's like, all right, keys, wallet, phone, knife, gun.

    [00:47:48] [SPEAKER_06]: Uh, all right.

    [00:47:49] [SPEAKER_06]: I can leave.

    [00:47:50] [SPEAKER_06]: Right.

[00:47:50] [SPEAKER_06]: Cause it's like, if I get in my car and pull out of my garage and I don't have my

    [00:47:54] [SPEAKER_06]: phone.

    [00:47:55] [SPEAKER_06]: Oh yeah.

    [00:47:56] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, it's a, it's a freak out situation.

    [00:47:59] [SPEAKER_02]: Right.

    [00:47:59] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:48:00] [SPEAKER_06]: I could leave without my wallet.

    [00:48:01] [SPEAKER_02]: Right.

[00:48:02] [SPEAKER_06]: Not have identification or money or, but I need my phone.

[00:48:06] [SPEAKER_06]: I got fun on my phone.

    [00:48:07] [SPEAKER_06]: Oh, good Lord.

[00:48:08] [SPEAKER_06]: What am I going to do?

    [00:48:08] [SPEAKER_02]: So it's a, it's a weird, it's a weird existence that we're tied to this little

[00:48:12] [SPEAKER_02]: piece of electronics that we carry around.

[00:48:14] [SPEAKER_06]: Tell me about it.

    [00:48:15] [SPEAKER_06]: Right.

[00:48:15] [SPEAKER_06]: Tell me about it.

[00:48:16] [SPEAKER_06]: Cause again, Tom, I still remember in seventh grade getting my first pager and some of these

[00:48:23] [SPEAKER_06]: youngsters listening might not know what that is, but I got a pager in seventh grade and

    [00:48:28] [SPEAKER_06]: I just, I thought I was so cool.

    [00:48:30] [SPEAKER_06]: Cause I had a pager and then I got a cell phone when I was 16.

[00:48:36] [SPEAKER_06]: When I got my driver's license, I got a cell phone and it was, it was a brick, but it was

    [00:48:41] [SPEAKER_06]: a cell phone.

    [00:48:41] [SPEAKER_06]: I had a cell phone.

[00:48:42] [SPEAKER_06]: So, and then they, they started getting more like, you know, more advanced and smaller.

[00:48:47] [SPEAKER_06]: And, uh, but you know, sometimes I'd leave the house and it's like, I would leave that

    [00:48:51] [SPEAKER_06]: thing at home.

[00:48:52] [SPEAKER_06]: Cause I don't want my mom to get ahold of me.

    [00:48:53] [SPEAKER_06]: Right.

[00:48:55] [SPEAKER_06]: And then it's like, you know, I roll in the house at one o'clock in the morning.

    [00:48:58] [SPEAKER_06]: She's like, I called you.

    [00:48:59] [SPEAKER_06]: Oh, I forgot my phone.

    [00:49:01] [SPEAKER_06]: Mom.

    [00:49:01] [SPEAKER_06]: Sorry.

[00:49:02] [SPEAKER_06]: Uh, you know, oops.

    [00:49:04] [SPEAKER_06]: Now it's like, nope.

    [00:49:06] [SPEAKER_06]: Uh, I can't leave without my phone.

    [00:49:09] [SPEAKER_06]: Oh boy.

    [00:49:10] [SPEAKER_02]: Right.

    [00:49:10] [SPEAKER_06]: Oh yeah.

    [00:49:11] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

    [00:49:12] [SPEAKER_02]: We're, um, we are, uh, I think we're, we're tethered basically.

[00:49:16] [SPEAKER_02]: And it's like an electronic, uh, almost like having an electronic ankle bracelet.

    [00:49:21] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:49:22] [SPEAKER_02]: We can find you no matter where you go.

    [00:49:24] [SPEAKER_06]: Which I've had.

    [00:49:25] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

    [00:49:25] [SPEAKER_06]: It's not cool.

    [00:49:26] [SPEAKER_06]: You've had a bracelet.

    [00:49:28] [SPEAKER_06]: No, no, no.

[00:49:30] [SPEAKER_06]: But, but this is the thing, right?

    [00:49:31] [SPEAKER_06]: Like when I'm in a match, my phone's on silent.

    [00:49:34] [SPEAKER_02]: Yes.

    [00:49:34] [SPEAKER_06]: And it's put away.

    [00:49:36] [SPEAKER_06]: I'm not thinking about it.

[00:49:37] [SPEAKER_06]: And it's just, it's a really nice feeling to not have to like, oh no, what, you know,

[00:49:43] [SPEAKER_06]: what's going on with my, I mean, whatever, man.

    [00:49:46] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:49:47] [SPEAKER_06]: Well, life goes on.

[00:49:49] [SPEAKER_02]: Well, if, as long as, is, um, there's foosball and we have this reason to disconnect from whatever

[00:49:56] [SPEAKER_02]: elsewhere carrying around with us, especially for the younger people, because they're, they're so,

[00:50:02] [SPEAKER_02]: so, um, locked into it.

[00:50:04] [SPEAKER_02]: Uh, it's, I think it's going to be, uh, really beneficial to see, uh, how many kids who get

[00:50:10] [SPEAKER_02]: into foosball later on who don't have those same issues, those social issues who are, their

[00:50:15] [SPEAKER_02]: friends are just so cannot exist, cannot.

[00:50:19] [SPEAKER_02]: It's like, um, I've forgotten what it was now, but it was, um, it was a, a study that

[00:50:24] [SPEAKER_02]: they had done and they had a certain group of kids.

[00:50:27] [SPEAKER_02]: They experimented and each day the kids would get into a, uh, let's say a classroom and

[00:50:32] [SPEAKER_02]: they were, we were told or they were told they could not have their phone period.

[00:50:36] [SPEAKER_02]: And there was a control group of kids who they didn't say anything to them.

[00:50:40] [SPEAKER_02]: They just let them have their phones.

[00:50:41] [SPEAKER_02]: And then the other group of kids, um, they were able to, to, to have free reign.

[00:50:46] [SPEAKER_02]: Like you can have your phone.

[00:50:47] [SPEAKER_02]: And there was this, this really visceral response of the kids who didn't have their phones, really

[00:50:53] [SPEAKER_02]: visceral, just, just, you know, crying and, and, and complaining and just could not, could

    [00:50:58] [SPEAKER_02]: not, uh, cope.

    [00:51:00] [SPEAKER_02]: Um, so that's a, that's a scary thought.

    [00:51:02] [SPEAKER_02]: It's like, okay.

    [00:51:03] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

    [00:51:04] [SPEAKER_06]: Wow.

[00:51:04] [SPEAKER_06]: You can find videos on the internet of kids, you know, beating up their teachers cause their

[00:51:09] [SPEAKER_06]: teachers took their phones away.

    [00:51:10] [SPEAKER_06]: Right.

[00:51:10] [SPEAKER_06]: You know, uh, yeah, there's definitely, uh, there's definitely something it's, there's some

[00:51:16] [SPEAKER_06]: mental issue there connected to these phones.

[00:51:20] [SPEAKER_02]: So, uh, it's like, uh, for us in, in, in high school, it was nicotine.

[00:51:25] [SPEAKER_02]: We got addicted to nicotine.

    [00:51:27] [SPEAKER_06]: I mean, it was delicious.

[00:51:28] [SPEAKER_06]: What do you want?

    [00:51:28] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

    [00:51:31] [SPEAKER_02]: Same idea.

[00:51:32] [SPEAKER_06]: You want to look, well, you want to look cool or not, Tom?

    [00:51:35] [SPEAKER_06]: Right.

[00:51:35] [SPEAKER_06]: What the hell, man?

    [00:51:36] [SPEAKER_06]: Come on.

    [00:51:36] [SPEAKER_06]: Jeez.

[00:51:37] [SPEAKER_02]: I remember we had a big petition in high school to get a smoking, a smoking section.

    [00:51:41] [SPEAKER_02]: Let's go.

[00:51:42] [SPEAKER_02]: And they gave it to us, you know, rather than hear all the, the, the bitching and moaning

[00:51:46] [SPEAKER_02]: about, Hey man, I just need to get out and have a smoke.

[00:51:50] [SPEAKER_02]: And, uh, at the age of 16 years of age, dude, I mean, I gotta have a cigarette.

[00:51:58] [SPEAKER_02]: Uh, did you ever smoke by the way?

    [00:52:01] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

    [00:52:01] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh yeah.

    [00:52:02] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

    [00:52:03] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

    [00:52:03] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

    [00:52:03] [SPEAKER_06]: I started smoking.

[00:52:05] [SPEAKER_06]: So out of high school, I got a job in a machine shop cause, um, I was a machinist by trade.

    [00:52:10] [SPEAKER_02]: Okay.

[00:52:11] [SPEAKER_06]: And, um, I was running four CNC machines.

[00:52:14] [SPEAKER_06]: We were making parts for, um, for satellites.

    [00:52:18] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, wow.

[00:52:18] [SPEAKER_06]: These little, these little, um, carbon fiber parts.

[00:52:22] [SPEAKER_06]: And I was running these machines.

[00:52:23] [SPEAKER_06]: Each machine ran like a two and a half hour cycle.

    [00:52:25] [SPEAKER_01]: Wow.

[00:52:26] [SPEAKER_06]: And they didn't want us reading and there were no, no smartphones.

    [00:52:30] [SPEAKER_06]: Right.

[00:52:30] [SPEAKER_06]: So I couldn't sit there and sit my phone and they didn't want us.

    [00:52:32] [SPEAKER_06]: Reading books.

[00:52:33] [SPEAKER_06]: They wanted us paying attention, paying attention to the machines, but the people that smoked

[00:52:37] [SPEAKER_06]: could just go outside and smoke anytime they wanted.

    [00:52:40] [SPEAKER_06]: So I was like, Hmm, that's a no brainer.

[00:52:42] [SPEAKER_06]: Go out the door.

[00:52:43] [SPEAKER_06]: Let me, let me get a cigarette.

    [00:52:44] [SPEAKER_06]: I started smoking.

    [00:52:45] [SPEAKER_06]: Okay.

    [00:52:46] [SPEAKER_03]: Wow.

[00:52:47] [SPEAKER_06]: And I went from bumming smokes at work to three packs a day.

    [00:52:50] [SPEAKER_02]: Three packs.

    [00:52:51] [SPEAKER_06]: Wow.

    [00:52:52] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:52:53] [SPEAKER_02]: It's, um, it's worse than heroin as far as drugs go.

    [00:52:57] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, man.

    [00:52:58] [SPEAKER_02]: More addicting.

    [00:52:59] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:52:59] [SPEAKER_06]: And what people don't understand, like one drop of pure nicotine will kill you.

    [00:53:03] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

    [00:53:03] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

    [00:53:04] [SPEAKER_03]: Right.

    [00:53:04] [SPEAKER_06]: I, I, I remember one time I got sick.

[00:53:06] [SPEAKER_06]: I got nicotine poisoning at a club one night.

[00:53:08] [SPEAKER_06]: I smoked a whole pack of cigarettes in like two hours.

    [00:53:11] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, ouch.

    [00:53:12] [SPEAKER_06]: I was at, I was at a club.

    [00:53:13] [SPEAKER_06]: I was, I was high as a kite.

[00:53:16] [SPEAKER_06]: Like a rabid animal, just smoking just cigarette after cigarette.

[00:53:20] [SPEAKER_06]: And then by the end of the night, I was like, Oh God, I don't feel good.

    [00:53:22] [SPEAKER_06]: I got sick as a dog.

    [00:53:24] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

    [00:53:24] [SPEAKER_06]: I got nicotine poisoning.

[00:53:25] [SPEAKER_02]: Was that when you quit?

    [00:53:27] [SPEAKER_06]: No, God, no.

[00:53:30] [SPEAKER_06]: No, no, God, no.

[00:53:31] [SPEAKER_06]: And why would you?

    [00:53:33] [SPEAKER_06]: No, no.

    [00:53:33] [SPEAKER_06]: I loved it.

[00:53:34] [SPEAKER_06]: So I ended up, uh, getting like an upper respiratory infection.

    [00:53:37] [SPEAKER_07]: Okay.

[00:53:38] [SPEAKER_06]: And, uh, tried to smoke through it and I couldn't, I just, I was like, this is bad.

    [00:53:42] [SPEAKER_06]: So I stopped.

[00:53:43] [SPEAKER_06]: It was, took me like three days to get better.

[00:53:45] [SPEAKER_06]: And after that, I was like, it's been three days.

[00:53:46] [SPEAKER_06]: I might as well just quit.

    [00:53:47] [SPEAKER_06]: Sure.

    [00:53:48] [SPEAKER_06]: That was it.

    [00:53:48] [SPEAKER_06]: I just quit.

[00:53:49] [SPEAKER_02]: How old were you then?

    [00:53:52] [SPEAKER_06]: Uh, 21.

    [00:53:53] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, wow.

    [00:53:54] [SPEAKER_02]: Okay.

    [00:53:55] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

    [00:53:55] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:53:55] [SPEAKER_06]: I only smoked for like three.

[00:53:56] [SPEAKER_06]: I only smoked for like three years.

    [00:53:58] [SPEAKER_02]: Okay.

    [00:53:59] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, you, yeah.

[00:54:00] [SPEAKER_02]: You made it for lost time.

    [00:54:02] [SPEAKER_02]: No doubt.

    [00:54:02] [SPEAKER_06]: Oh, yeah.

[00:54:03] [SPEAKER_06]: Like my dad, my dad, my dad smoked for 40 years.

[00:54:06] [SPEAKER_06]: My dad started smoking when he was nine.

    [00:54:07] [SPEAKER_06]: Smoked for 40 years.

    [00:54:08] [SPEAKER_06]: Man.

    [00:54:09] [SPEAKER_06]: Finally quit.

[00:54:09] [SPEAKER_06]: So look, I know, I know some people, they just, they couldn't stop.

[00:54:13] [SPEAKER_06]: They could not stop.

    [00:54:14] [SPEAKER_06]: Wow.

[00:54:14] [SPEAKER_06]: It's killed a couple of members of my family.

    [00:54:16] [SPEAKER_02]: Nope.

    [00:54:17] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

    [00:54:17] [SPEAKER_02]: Ditto.

    [00:54:18] [SPEAKER_02]: Ditto.

[00:54:18] [SPEAKER_02]: We've had, uh, we've had a couple of deaths from, from lung cancer.

[00:54:21] [SPEAKER_02]: And, uh, my, my family, my wife's family, of course, have, uh, both experienced that.

[00:54:25] [SPEAKER_02]: And I think it's, especially the generation, uh, prior to, to ours, my parents, I mean, that's

    [00:54:30] [SPEAKER_02]: what everybody did.

    [00:54:31] [SPEAKER_06]: Everybody smoked.

    [00:54:32] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

    [00:54:32] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

    [00:54:32] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

    [00:54:33] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:54:33] [SPEAKER_06]: Like, like my dad used to smoke in the house.

[00:54:35] [SPEAKER_06]: He'd smoke like after dinner, he'd smoke at the dinner table.

[00:54:39] [SPEAKER_06]: Like all my uncles, my aunts, everybody smoked.

[00:54:42] [SPEAKER_06]: Like there'd be a birthday party and the whole house would be filled with smoke.

    [00:54:45] [SPEAKER_06]: You know?

    [00:54:45] [SPEAKER_02]: Nobody even knew.

[00:54:46] [SPEAKER_06]: No, it was a different time.

    [00:54:48] [SPEAKER_06]: It was a different time.

[00:54:49] [SPEAKER_02]: So can you imagine going to a, a, a foosball tournament now and allowing smoking?

[00:54:55] [SPEAKER_06]: I mean, well, that would be crazy.

[00:54:57] [SPEAKER_06]: I have, there's a couple of places, like, again, uh, there's a couple of places where

    [00:55:02] [SPEAKER_06]: it still happens.

[00:55:03] [SPEAKER_06]: And it's, uh, you know, it's like, ah, uh, yeah, do I want that?

    [00:55:07] [SPEAKER_06]: Like, eh, right.

[00:55:09] [SPEAKER_06]: So, uh, but I mean, it's to each his own, man.

    [00:55:13] [SPEAKER_06]: I don't judge anybody.

[00:55:14] [SPEAKER_06]: You know, you want to, you want to live your life and do these things.

    [00:55:18] [SPEAKER_06]: You're an adult.

[00:55:18] [SPEAKER_06]: You can do what you want.

[00:55:19] [SPEAKER_06]: I just want to play foosball.

    [00:55:20] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:55:21] [SPEAKER_02]: And I think, uh, just, just, uh, having it in the atmosphere and the, in the air,

[00:55:24] [SPEAKER_02]: the smoke would just be, uh, I don't know, be difficult, uh, at best to me.

[00:55:28] [SPEAKER_02]: Cause since I quit, let's see, six years ago.

    [00:55:31] [SPEAKER_02]: So, uh, when was I, I was what, uh, 58, 58 when I quit.

    [00:55:37] [SPEAKER_02]: So yeah.

[00:55:38] [SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, it's like, Oh, I'm not going back.

[00:55:41] [SPEAKER_06]: You quit, you quit when you started doing the show?

    [00:55:44] [SPEAKER_02]: Pretty much.

    [00:55:45] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:55:45] [SPEAKER_02]: That was part of it.

[00:55:46] [SPEAKER_02]: Um, and the other thing that happens too, because of the voice, it, it does, it affects

    [00:55:52] [SPEAKER_02]: your vocal cords.

[00:55:53] [SPEAKER_02]: And since I quit smoking, it's really, really made a big difference.

[00:55:56] [SPEAKER_02]: Things have, uh, I, in fact, I think I've, I've come back to more of the way I

[00:56:00] [SPEAKER_02]: sounded maybe when I was 40, uh, rather.

[00:56:04] [SPEAKER_02]: Of course, right now that's not the case.

[00:56:06] [SPEAKER_02]: Cause I'm still, still dealing with the ick, but, uh, normally my, my normal everyday voice

[00:56:10] [SPEAKER_02]: is, uh, much better than it, than it ever was before, before I quit smoking for sure.

    [00:56:14] [SPEAKER_06]: Nice.

    [00:56:15] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

    [00:56:15] [SPEAKER_06]: Nice.

    [00:56:15] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[00:56:16] [SPEAKER_06]: You got, you got that four octave range.

    [00:56:18] [SPEAKER_06]: It's nice.

    [00:56:18] [SPEAKER_06]: I like it.

    [00:56:19] [SPEAKER_02]: Four octaves.

[00:56:20] [SPEAKER_02]: Nah, maybe, uh, four tenths of an octave.

    [00:56:24] [SPEAKER_02]: Maybe, uh, maybe.

[00:56:27] [SPEAKER_02]: Um, so yeah, I mean, uh, six years goes by so damn fast and, um, I'm really truly grateful.

[00:56:35] [SPEAKER_02]: I have to say at this point that, um, that you and Chuck and Nino and Mike Green and Clay

[00:56:42] [SPEAKER_02]: Toomey and Jim Stevens and Mark Torres and Adam Gilson and Hannah, Hannah Smith, uh, have all,

[00:56:50] [SPEAKER_02]: you know, have, uh, jumped on at times, uh, to, to, to do this.

[00:56:54] [SPEAKER_02]: And man, um, if it wasn't for you guys, I mean, I'd just be talking to myself.

    [00:56:59] [SPEAKER_02]: So that's no fun.

[00:57:00] [SPEAKER_06]: I do that all the time.

[00:57:01] [SPEAKER_06]: I do that all the time.

[00:57:04] [SPEAKER_02]: I was, uh, I used to be paid for that, by the way, to, I was paid to go into a room

[00:57:08] [SPEAKER_02]: four hours, four hours a day and simply talk to myself.

    [00:57:12] [SPEAKER_06]: Let's go.

    [00:57:13] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

    [00:57:13] [SPEAKER_02]: Huh?

    [00:57:14] [SPEAKER_06]: So, I mean, I, I, I, I talked to my dog.

    [00:57:17] [SPEAKER_06]: I do a podcast with my dog.

[00:57:19] [SPEAKER_06]: You know, people like that.

[00:57:20] [SPEAKER_06]: She listens to me.

    [00:57:21] [SPEAKER_02]: There you go.

    [00:57:22] [SPEAKER_02]: There you go.

[00:57:23] [SPEAKER_06]: No, Tom, honestly, I, this, I, this is a blast for me.

    [00:57:28] [SPEAKER_06]: I enjoy it very much.

[00:57:29] [SPEAKER_06]: So I just, I thank you for the opportunity.

    [00:57:31] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, it's, it's, there's no need to thank me.

    [00:57:34] [SPEAKER_02]: It's, uh, I'm, I'm grateful beyond words.

[00:57:36] [SPEAKER_02]: And it's something that I think as, as we move forward, you know, um, I'm always looking,

[00:57:41] [SPEAKER_02]: looking for, for new ideas and new, new, uh, people to talk to.

[00:57:44] [SPEAKER_02]: And you seem to always have somebody in your back pocket as to, okay, how about this person

[00:57:48] [SPEAKER_02]: we need to chat with?

[00:57:50] [SPEAKER_02]: Um, you know, if you're, uh, if you're listening to this podcast or if you're watching us on Twitch

[00:57:55] [SPEAKER_02]: TV, we definitely want to hear what you have to say when it comes to people you'd like to

    [00:57:59] [SPEAKER_02]: hear more from.

    [00:58:01] [SPEAKER_07]: Absolutely.

[00:58:01] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, do you want to hear more from, from players that are, let's say not that well

[00:58:05] [SPEAKER_02]: known, or you want to hear more about the legends?

[00:58:07] [SPEAKER_02]: Do you want to hear more from the people that are currently at the top of the field?

[00:58:11] [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, we have, we have a few of those, so maybe you'd like to hear more from them, but

[00:58:15] [SPEAKER_02]: we'd like to hear from you on that.

[00:58:17] [SPEAKER_02]: And, uh, so by all means, um, I believe on our, on our Facebook, not our Facebook, yes,

[00:58:22] [SPEAKER_02]: our Facebook page, our Facebook group, you can always post there and just make comments

    [00:58:26] [SPEAKER_02]: about it.

[00:58:27] [SPEAKER_02]: But, um, we'd love to, love to hear from you on that.

[00:58:30] [SPEAKER_02]: Um, oh, one more thing before we go.

[00:58:32] [SPEAKER_02]: Um, you know, when we first conceived of this idea of foosball radio, we had a couple of different

[00:58:38] [SPEAKER_02]: names we, we invented about a couple of things we weren't quite sure about, like, um, um,

[00:58:45] [SPEAKER_02]: the foosball podcast, you know, we thought we'll do that.

    [00:58:49] [SPEAKER_02]: Well, I don't know.

[00:58:50] [SPEAKER_02]: It just didn't seem to have the same ring for some reason.

[00:58:53] [SPEAKER_02]: And I'm not even sure who actually decided on foosball radio, but whoever it was, you

    [00:58:57] [SPEAKER_02]: know, okay.

    [00:58:59] [SPEAKER_06]: Kudos.

    [00:59:00] [SPEAKER_06]: Nice job.

    [00:59:01] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

    [00:59:01] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

    [00:59:01] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:59:02] [SPEAKER_02]: So here's a, an example of a promo we did very early on.

[00:59:06] [SPEAKER_02]: And I'll give you a quick background on this one.

[00:59:08] [SPEAKER_02]: Uh, Eric, so, you know, again, the guy who was helping us all the, with all the, the technology

[00:59:12] [SPEAKER_02]: and the imaging, he said, listen, man, we need something to, uh, to tease the idea of

    [00:59:16] [SPEAKER_02]: this, this podcast.

[00:59:18] [SPEAKER_02]: Um, you know, we need a concept.

[00:59:20] [SPEAKER_02]: So now I've been writing commercial copy for clients for, for, for four decades.

[00:59:25] [SPEAKER_02]: And I thought, well, I must, I, there must be something I could think of, but I wanted

[00:59:30] [SPEAKER_02]: to keep it simple and keep it straightforward and kind of, um, I don't know, play off of,

[00:59:35] [SPEAKER_02]: uh, words or whatever, but I was standing at the sink one night I was doing dishes and,

[00:59:40] [SPEAKER_02]: and, uh, I had this thing just come to my mind and who knows where it came from, but

[00:59:45] [SPEAKER_02]: I wanted to play you the, uh, the result of this.

[00:59:47] [SPEAKER_02]: And it's, uh, something that we aired for, I don't want to say two or three weeks before

[00:59:52] [SPEAKER_02]: the first episode ever, uh, ever came out, but it was this.

[00:59:55] [SPEAKER_01]: Have you ever wondered why foosball players don't have ears?

[01:00:02] [SPEAKER_01]: It's because they never needed them.

[01:00:05] [SPEAKER_01]: That is until now coming soon.

[01:00:10] [SPEAKER_01]: The best reason for foosball players to listen ever.

    [01:00:15] [SPEAKER_02]: Simple, straightforward.

[01:00:18] [SPEAKER_02]: So it was, it kind of dawned on me that when you look at the foosball player, the, especially

[01:00:23] [SPEAKER_02]: the tornado guy, there's no ears, there's no anatomical ears.

[01:00:27] [SPEAKER_02]: And, uh, I thought, hmm, interesting.

[01:00:31] [SPEAKER_02]: And there was really no podcast at the time.

[01:00:33] [SPEAKER_02]: So I thought, okay, no ears, no listening.

[01:00:37] [SPEAKER_02]: So we got to give him a reason to have ears.

    [01:00:40] [SPEAKER_02]: So.

    [01:00:41] [SPEAKER_06]: Yep.

    [01:00:41] [SPEAKER_06]: I like it.

[01:00:42] [SPEAKER_02]: But it was, uh, so when I sent that to Eric, he went, dude, let's do that.

    [01:00:49] [SPEAKER_02]: I just went, okay.

    [01:00:51] [SPEAKER_02]: All right.

[01:00:52] [SPEAKER_02]: Um, but this, this, um, this thing that I do or that we do that, that, that continues

[01:00:58] [SPEAKER_02]: to happen is really a creative outlet.

[01:01:00] [SPEAKER_02]: It's, uh, it's a place to kind of burn the energy I otherwise would not be able to burn.

[01:01:05] [SPEAKER_02]: I guess it's the best way to put it.

[01:01:07] [SPEAKER_02]: So, um, forgive me for that.

[01:01:10] [SPEAKER_02]: Sometimes my ideas are really are whack, but, uh, no, that's cool.

[01:01:15] [SPEAKER_06]: No, no, no, no.

[01:01:17] [SPEAKER_06]: We have, we have fun, Tom.

    [01:01:18] [SPEAKER_06]: I enjoy myself.

    [01:01:19] [SPEAKER_06]: Like I said, I always have fun.

[01:01:21] [SPEAKER_06]: So I'm here, you know, I'm here whenever you need me.

[01:01:24] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, you got it.

[01:01:25] [SPEAKER_02]: And, uh, and I know we've, we've actually come up against that, that, that first hour

    [01:01:29] [SPEAKER_02]: of our talk.

[01:01:30] [SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, it's time for you to go to bed, Randy.

    [01:01:32] [SPEAKER_02]: It's, it's time.

    [01:01:34] [SPEAKER_06]: I'm almost there, Tom.

    [01:01:35] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[01:01:36] [SPEAKER_02]: We're, we're, uh, I think we're all a little bit more tired because of last week and how

[01:01:41] [SPEAKER_02]: much effort and time.

[01:01:42] [SPEAKER_02]: And, and by the way, how was your trip home from the tournament?

[01:01:45] [SPEAKER_06]: Uh, uh, so I, uh, I flew from Lansing to Detroit.

[01:01:51] [SPEAKER_06]: I ended up talking to a gentleman who was a professor at Michigan state university and

[01:01:56] [SPEAKER_06]: he was actually flying to Birmingham.

[01:01:58] [SPEAKER_06]: And he said, dude, there's a direct flight to Birmingham.

[01:02:01] [SPEAKER_06]: Um, there is, cause I was flying, I was flying from Detroit to Atlanta, then Atlanta to Birmingham.

    [01:02:06] [SPEAKER_06]: He's like, oh, there's a direct flight.

[01:02:08] [SPEAKER_06]: He said, see if you can jump on there.

[01:02:10] [SPEAKER_06]: And, um, so I ran over to the gate, talk to the, um,

[01:02:15] [SPEAKER_06]: talk to the lady at the gate and she, uh, she got me on there.

    [01:02:19] [SPEAKER_06]: Didn't upcharge me or nothing.

[01:02:20] [SPEAKER_06]: So I ended up getting home.

    [01:02:21] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[01:02:22] [SPEAKER_06]: I ended up getting home like three hours early, which was nice.

    [01:02:25] [SPEAKER_02]: That's awesome.

    [01:02:26] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

    [01:02:26] [SPEAKER_06]: It was sweet.

    [01:02:27] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

    [01:02:27] [SPEAKER_06]: It was sweet.

[01:02:28] [SPEAKER_06]: So, um, so getting home wasn't bad.

[01:02:31] [SPEAKER_06]: Um, it was just, man, it was just wore out, you know, again, as I get older, it gets tougher

[01:02:40] [SPEAKER_06]: and tougher to recoup.

[01:02:42] [SPEAKER_06]: So didn't, um, I haven't really touched the table a whole lot this week.

[01:02:46] [SPEAKER_06]: I have touched it, but not like, you know, pre not pre tournament touching.

[01:02:51] [SPEAKER_06]: So, um, my arm, my arm, uh, still hurts a little bit.

[01:02:55] [SPEAKER_06]: I went and got a massage, uh, yesterday.

    [01:02:58] [SPEAKER_06]: There you go.

[01:02:59] [SPEAKER_06]: And, uh, so, but I'm, I'm just, uh, just trying to get back to normal, Tom.

[01:03:05] [SPEAKER_06]: Hopefully this week I can get, I can get a little bit of rest this week and get back

    [01:03:08] [SPEAKER_06]: to normal.

[01:03:09] [SPEAKER_06]: And, um, I'm still, I'm like everybody else.

[01:03:12] [SPEAKER_06]: I'm still waiting, uh, for Ryan to put out the schedule for next year.

    [01:03:15] [SPEAKER_06]: Yes.

[01:03:15] [SPEAKER_06]: So, uh, so we can start planning.

    [01:03:18] [SPEAKER_02]: Yep.

[01:03:18] [SPEAKER_02]: And start talking about it.

[01:03:19] [SPEAKER_02]: Um, are you going to Louisiana state?

[01:03:29] [SPEAKER_02]: And in case you wonder the dead air that just occurred there, there was Randy looking

[01:03:33] [SPEAKER_02]: backwards at his, at the door to make sure his wife wasn't nearby to hear his response.

[01:03:39] [SPEAKER_02]: And yes, he is going to Louisiana state.

[01:03:41] [SPEAKER_02]: Just, just on the down.

    [01:03:43] [SPEAKER_06]: I'm, I'm, no, I'm on the, I'm on the fence.

    [01:03:45] [SPEAKER_06]: Oh, God.

[01:03:46] [SPEAKER_06]: I, you know, I got, I got asked to go play and I said, no, because realistically I, I,

[01:03:51] [SPEAKER_06]: I told my wife, I wasn't going to play anymore this year.

    [01:03:54] [SPEAKER_06]: And I'm so busy, man.

    [01:03:56] [SPEAKER_06]: I'm so busy.

    [01:03:57] [SPEAKER_06]: If I go, it'll be last minute.

    [01:03:59] [SPEAKER_06]: Okay.

    [01:03:59] [SPEAKER_06]: So, um, I don't know.

[01:04:01] [SPEAKER_06]: Well, you know, Chris and I, Chris and I won pro doubles there last year.

    [01:04:05] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[01:04:05] [SPEAKER_06]: So I'd like to go defend, but it's just a matter of circumstance.

    [01:04:10] [SPEAKER_02]: So, well, I, uh, I respect that.

    [01:04:13] [SPEAKER_02]: I respect that for sure.

[01:04:15] [SPEAKER_02]: Um, next year though.

[01:04:17] [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, you're, I mean, if we have, oh, here's the other thing I forgot completely.

    [01:04:21] [SPEAKER_02]: Forgotten.

[01:04:21] [SPEAKER_02]: This will remind me.

[01:04:22] [SPEAKER_02]: Um, the ITSF has put out an announcement.

    [01:04:26] [SPEAKER_02]: For Dallas.

    [01:04:27] [SPEAKER_02]: For Dallas.

[01:04:28] [SPEAKER_02]: They're going to do another, uh, I guess they call it the gold series or something like that

    [01:04:32] [SPEAKER_02]: or world series.

    [01:04:33] [SPEAKER_02]: Mm-hmm.

[01:04:33] [SPEAKER_02]: But, um, I guess they're still solidifying the location, this kind of thing, but they

[01:04:38] [SPEAKER_02]: just put this out this last week.

[01:04:41] [SPEAKER_02]: Um, what do you think about that?

[01:04:43] [SPEAKER_06]: I, I, I'm going to try my best to make it.

    [01:04:45] [SPEAKER_02]: Nice.

    [01:04:46] [SPEAKER_06]: I want to go.

[01:04:47] [SPEAKER_06]: Cause this, I'm, I hate that I missed this one this year cause it, it was really good.

    [01:04:52] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[01:04:52] [SPEAKER_06]: But I'm, I'm going to try, I'm going to try to make it.

    [01:04:54] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[01:04:55] [SPEAKER_02]: It's, uh, it's exciting cause they're, you know, obviously they're using the same graphics

[01:04:59] [SPEAKER_02]: they used last year, but they, they are, they're booked.

    [01:05:02] [SPEAKER_02]: They're ready to go.

    [01:05:04] [SPEAKER_02]: So yeah.

[01:05:05] [SPEAKER_02]: Well, we're going to have to do some chatting about that as, uh, as the time goes on.

    [01:05:10] [SPEAKER_06]: Yes, sir.

[01:05:10] [SPEAKER_02]: The only other tournament I'm aware of was, um, I believe, uh, Leon Hart, uh, is doing

[01:05:16] [SPEAKER_02]: a tournament in January so far.

    [01:05:19] [SPEAKER_06]: That's in Canada though.

    [01:05:20] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

    [01:05:20] [SPEAKER_02]: Canada.

    [01:05:21] [SPEAKER_02]: Yep.

[01:05:21] [SPEAKER_02]: So, but yeah, so we, we got some things to talk about for 2025 next week.

[01:05:26] [SPEAKER_02]: I should mention at this point that, um, I'm going to be in the wilds of Pennsylvania on

    [01:05:31] [SPEAKER_02]: Sunday evening.

[01:05:32] [SPEAKER_02]: And, uh, I do have an internet connection, so you never know what might happen, but generally

[01:05:38] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm, uh, I'm going to be noncommittal and say, we probably won't be on the air next week.

    [01:05:43] [SPEAKER_06]: All right.

[01:05:43] [SPEAKER_06]: Well, I mean, just let me know.

    [01:05:45] [SPEAKER_02]: Okay.

    [01:05:45] [SPEAKER_02]: We'll figure it out.

    [01:05:45] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

    [01:05:46] [SPEAKER_02]: We'll, we'll keep you, keep you posted.

    [01:05:47] [SPEAKER_02]: You just, I mean, I've, I've, uh, I've done stranger things.

    [01:05:50] [SPEAKER_02]: Let's put it that way.

    [01:05:52] [SPEAKER_06]: Yes, sir.

[01:05:52] [SPEAKER_02]: So we'll, uh, we'll keep everybody in the, in the loop on that.

[01:05:56] [SPEAKER_02]: But anyway, uh, dude, it's, uh, it's time for you to, to just, uh, get some rest.

    [01:06:01] [SPEAKER_06]: Yes, sir.

[01:06:03] [SPEAKER_02]: I can see it in your face, but, uh, Randy, thank you so much.

[01:06:07] [SPEAKER_02]: Once again, uh, six years of foosball radio just went by in a flash.

[01:06:11] [SPEAKER_02]: And, uh, it's because of you listening, you downloading this episode or watching on Twitch

[01:06:16] [SPEAKER_02]: TV is the reason we keep coming back and doing this over and over again.

[01:06:20] [SPEAKER_02]: And, uh, and hopefully you, you feel it's worthwhile.

    [01:06:23] [SPEAKER_02]: So thank you.

[01:06:24] [SPEAKER_02]: Thank you again for, for being with us.

    [01:06:26] [SPEAKER_06]: Yes, sir.

    [01:06:27] [SPEAKER_06]: Thank you.

    [01:06:27] [SPEAKER_06]: Thank you, everybody.

[01:06:28] [SPEAKER_06]: Tom, here's to another six years, man.

    [01:06:30] [SPEAKER_02]: Dude, I'm down for that.

[01:06:32] [SPEAKER_02]: Uh, as long as I can still stand up, I'll be good.

    [01:06:35] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[01:06:35] [SPEAKER_06]: Um, you and me both.

    [01:06:36] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, man.

    [01:06:37] [SPEAKER_02]: Cool.

[01:06:38] [SPEAKER_02]: Well, Randy, uh, be safe, be healthy and, uh, take care of those trick or treaters.

    [01:06:42] [SPEAKER_02]: Okay.

    [01:06:45] [SPEAKER_06]: No comment.

    [01:06:47] [SPEAKER_06]: No comment.

    [01:06:48] [SPEAKER_02]: Don't kick in Randy's door.

[01:06:50] [SPEAKER_02]: You will regret it.

[01:06:52] [SPEAKER_06]: Um, you, you will.

    [01:06:53] [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah.

[01:06:54] [SPEAKER_06]: You will regret it.

[01:06:57] [SPEAKER_02]: No treats for you.

    [01:06:59] [SPEAKER_06]: Oh, you'll get a treat.

    [01:07:01] [SPEAKER_06]: You won't like it.

    [01:07:02] [SPEAKER_06]: So yeah.
