[00:02:01] It's Tom Robinson from Foos Talk Live.
[00:02:04] Here we are back together again for episode number 230.
[00:02:08] I keep forgetting how long we've been kind of hanging around.
[00:02:12] Anyway, we're getting ready to have a great night of talking foosball.
[00:02:16] And of course, if you're going to talk foosball, you always got to talk to somebody who, well, wants to talk about foosball and loves the sport,
[00:02:23] which would be Randy Raposo of the great state of Alabama.
[00:02:26] Hello, Randy.
[00:02:28] Hey, Tom.
[00:02:29] How are you this evening?
[00:02:30] What's happening, my man?
[00:02:32] Nothing.
[00:02:34] Want to play some foosball yesterday?
[00:02:36] Yeah.
[00:02:36] Cool.
[00:02:37] Foosball where?
[00:02:40] They had NC State slash Louisiana State warm-up in Georgia yesterday.
[00:02:45] Okay.
[00:02:46] So I went over there and played.
[00:02:49] Killed everybody.
[00:02:50] I'm really good.
[00:02:52] So.
[00:02:53] Okay.
[00:02:54] Well.
[00:02:54] Yeah.
[00:02:55] We know you best for your modesty, of course.
[00:02:58] I'm humble.
[00:02:58] I'm a humble guy, Tom.
[00:02:59] Humble guy.
[00:03:00] And I got to ask you the question.
[00:03:02] What's up with the hoodie tonight?
[00:03:03] It seems extra tight.
[00:03:05] I feel like doo-doo.
[00:03:07] Oh, no.
[00:03:08] Oh, no.
[00:03:09] I'm under the weather.
[00:03:12] Is it because you played foosball yesterday?
[00:03:14] Is that the problem?
[00:03:15] No, no.
[00:03:17] So it's that time of year in Alabama where it's like 80 during the day and 40 at night.
[00:03:21] So my sinuses are taking a beating.
[00:03:24] So I just, I had a nice cup of tea with a little lemon and some honey.
[00:03:30] Nice cup of tea.
[00:03:32] Nice cup of tea.
[00:03:33] Yeah.
[00:03:33] I took a shower.
[00:03:34] My wife bought these like Vicks shower things.
[00:03:38] You drop in the shower.
[00:03:39] Yeah.
[00:03:41] So, you know, it's, I feel like crap, Tom.
[00:03:45] Oh.
[00:03:45] Yeah.
[00:03:45] Sorry, dude.
[00:03:46] Well.
[00:03:47] No, man.
[00:03:48] No.
[00:03:48] But it's cool.
[00:03:49] I got to play some foosball this weekend.
[00:03:50] Had a good time.
[00:03:51] Went over to Georgia.
[00:03:53] They did a nice job.
[00:03:55] Um, yeah, man, it was a good weekend.
[00:03:57] I had fun.
[00:03:58] A lot of foosball coming up, you know, obviously with our guests tonight.
[00:04:01] Yes.
[00:04:01] We got, um, we got, uh, um, a, a, a tournament that's been running for years and years and
[00:04:07] years in this country coming up.
[00:04:09] And then after that, Louisiana state, which will be marriage last tournament.
[00:04:12] So, uh, and then after that, the year kicks off with, uh, something completely brand
[00:04:18] new for foosball players.
[00:04:20] And, uh, I think everybody's excited.
[00:04:21] So we are psyched.
[00:04:23] Yeah.
[00:04:23] Um, for sure.
[00:04:24] Before we get going, if I could, uh, just wanted to shout out a couple of people.
[00:04:29] Uh, Sparky, Sparky's in Asia, just won singles.
[00:04:34] I think it was, they had an event in Tokyo.
[00:04:37] Oh.
[00:04:38] And he won.
[00:04:39] Yeah.
[00:04:39] He won something over there.
[00:04:40] Actually, let me pull it up real quick.
[00:04:41] James.
[00:04:42] I know you want some stuff in there.
[00:04:43] Yeah.
[00:04:43] James, you know, James, you know, and then, um, Jerry Todd and, um, cheese one doubles.
[00:04:51] Nice.
[00:04:51] Let me see.
[00:04:51] Jerry sent.
[00:04:52] Yeah.
[00:04:52] I talked to Jerry this morning, sent him a text message and, um, he sent me a photo.
[00:04:58] Uh, just won open doubles at the Japan open.
[00:05:02] Wow.
[00:05:03] Jerry and, uh, and, uh, and cheese.
[00:05:05] And then, uh, Sparky, where are we at here?
[00:05:08] Sparky.
[00:05:09] Let me see.
[00:05:10] Sparky.
[00:05:11] Yeah.
[00:05:12] Sparky went, he won a bunch of stuff.
[00:05:14] Shanghai open first place.
[00:05:15] Goldie wars.
[00:05:16] Third place.
[00:05:16] Open mix.
[00:05:17] Second place.
[00:05:18] Open singles.
[00:05:18] First place.
[00:05:19] Senior singles.
[00:05:20] First place.
[00:05:20] Senior doubles.
[00:05:20] First place.
[00:05:22] Two ball rollerball.
[00:05:23] First place.
[00:05:24] City team.
[00:05:24] Tokyo open.
[00:05:26] First place.
[00:05:26] Friday monster.
[00:05:27] D.Y.P.
[00:05:28] One open singles.
[00:05:29] Second classic doubles.
[00:05:32] First place.
[00:05:33] Non seniors.
[00:05:34] He had a really good weekend.
[00:05:36] Yeah.
[00:05:36] So shout out to Sparky.
[00:05:37] Um, and then, uh, my buddy, Wesley Parrott and his wife, Kelly.
[00:05:44] Bama blue Frenchies.
[00:05:45] They got a new line of dogs.
[00:05:47] If anybody's interested.
[00:05:48] Okay.
[00:05:49] Their Facebook page.
[00:05:50] Very cool.
[00:05:50] So I'm, I'm getting, I'm getting paid.
[00:05:52] Uh, is this brought to you by Carl's Jr.
[00:05:57] Carl's Jr.
[00:05:58] I, I, I just watched Idiocracy again, Tom.
[00:06:01] I feel like it's turning into a documentary more than a, a movie, a fiction film.
[00:06:07] I see.
[00:06:07] I see.
[00:06:08] Brought to you by Carl's Jr.
[00:06:09] So yeah.
[00:06:10] But anyway.
[00:06:11] We missed you last week, by the way.
[00:06:13] And, uh, we had a very special guest last weekend with Mary Moore and we want to thank
[00:06:17] her and, and Don Wilson for being here with us.
[00:06:19] Uh, and, uh, of course, Mary.
[00:06:21] I listened to the podcast.
[00:06:22] Yeah.
[00:06:22] Yeah.
[00:06:23] She, uh, she was reluctant to be on, but I got to say when she agreed to do it, I thought
[00:06:27] she did an awesome job.
[00:06:28] And, uh, we had a great, a great time.
[00:06:30] Got a lot of information about her background as far as the, being a promoter.
[00:06:34] And I mean, it's, it's a, it's a tough job and to do it for as long as she did for 30,
[00:06:38] 30 plus years.
[00:06:39] Pretty, pretty impressive.
[00:06:40] But we're, we're, we're onto that same topic tonight.
[00:06:43] In fact, uh, we're talking about promotions because of course we've got a, another great
[00:06:48] tournament coming up Thanksgiving weekend, which is going to be, uh, uh, an awesome time
[00:06:53] in North Carolina, uh, Asheville, North Carolina.
[00:06:57] And so we want to welcome to a Foos Talk Live for the first time, Jason and Michelle McCall
[00:07:02] who are responsible for, for this big tournament coming up in North Carolina.
[00:07:06] Welcome guys.
[00:07:08] How you doing Tom?
[00:07:08] How are you guys?
[00:07:10] What's up Mr. Randy?
[00:07:12] Hi.
[00:07:15] Nevermind the hoodie.
[00:07:16] Nevermind the hoodie.
[00:07:17] He's, he's okay.
[00:07:17] He's going to survive.
[00:07:18] Listen, I'm comfortable.
[00:07:20] Leave me alone.
[00:07:20] So, um, the, the, the, the NC state you guys got coming up, it's that same resort where
[00:07:27] you guys had, uh, the battle of the mountains and the other NC state, correct?
[00:07:31] Yes, sir.
[00:07:31] Uh, the battle of the mountains is not our tournament.
[00:07:34] That one's, um, actually Allen Reese.
[00:07:36] Um, I don't want to take any credit for that, but it is actually the same hotel, but it's
[00:07:41] the same hotel.
[00:07:42] Yeah, no, that's, that place is really.
[00:07:46] It's called the ground Plaza.
[00:07:48] Yes, sir.
[00:07:49] Crown Plaza.
[00:07:50] Yep.
[00:07:51] Pet friendly.
[00:07:52] Lots of stuff for the family.
[00:07:54] Uh, lots of stuff for kids.
[00:07:56] Stuff.
[00:07:57] I took my wife there.
[00:07:58] She loved it.
[00:07:59] Loved the hotel.
[00:07:59] Loved the Asheville's a beautiful town.
[00:08:01] Stuff for her to do while I play.
[00:08:03] She actually went to the Biltmore and spent a ton of money shopping and, uh, just, it was
[00:08:09] wonderful.
[00:08:09] Uh, it was wonderful.
[00:08:11] Yeah.
[00:08:11] Yeah.
[00:08:11] So, well, I don't know how much, you know, I don't know how the, how much they're actually
[00:08:17] still dealing with the hurricane aftermath.
[00:08:20] Right.
[00:08:20] And Asheville proper.
[00:08:21] Um, so, you know, I don't know how much there is to do outside of that.
[00:08:26] I know there, there are restaurants open and they're wanting people to come, you know, because
[00:08:31] a lot of what their economy is, is tourism.
[00:08:34] So, um, I know they were hit pretty hard.
[00:08:36] So the only reason I bring that up is I don't want to like, oh, there's so many things to
[00:08:41] do.
[00:08:41] You know, you won't be disappointed.
[00:08:43] There might, you know, it might be limited.
[00:08:45] Right.
[00:08:45] I understand.
[00:08:46] I'll sell it.
[00:08:47] I'll lie for you.
[00:08:48] It's wonderful.
[00:08:52] Everybody come.
[00:08:52] There's tons of stuff to do.
[00:08:54] Yeah.
[00:08:54] I mean, it's, it's a, it's a tradition.
[00:08:56] I mean, Thanksgiving weekend is huge.
[00:08:58] And of course, uh, it, uh, it's pretty well attended.
[00:09:00] What, uh, on average, what do you expect to see when it comes to the number of players
[00:09:04] for North Carolina state?
[00:09:06] Well, when we first started, it was low because we took over about seven or eight years ago
[00:09:11] and then the numbers were from 60 to 70, 80.
[00:09:14] Then now we're up to a hundred, 150 constantly now.
[00:09:18] So yeah, it's back up.
[00:09:20] We will, we try to get it more than get it out there a little more, but cause it is Thanksgiving
[00:09:25] and it's like 43 year anniversary.
[00:09:28] People just say Thanksgiving.
[00:09:30] I got plans, you know, it's family time.
[00:09:32] Right.
[00:09:32] That's why we don't really do nothing on Thanksgiving.
[00:09:35] But specialty events.
[00:09:37] Okay.
[00:09:37] And then the weather events start on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
[00:09:41] Makes sense.
[00:09:42] Yeah, absolutely.
[00:09:43] Uh, by the way, um, before we went air, uh, when we're live on air today, uh, we had a
[00:09:48] bit of a chat about, uh, you know, the, the disaster that took place, uh, near Asheville,
[00:09:53] of course, in Western North Carolina.
[00:09:55] Um, I know you guys were, were involved with the foosball family.
[00:09:58] Just give us a quick idea of how the foosball family came together after that disaster.
[00:10:04] Well, first off, I'm going to say my beautiful wife put a lot, you know, the post out on
[00:10:08] Facebook and I was like, listen, it's something I want to do.
[00:10:11] I would have went with a couple of my friends who had skid steers.
[00:10:14] They went up cleared roads and try to help people out.
[00:10:17] Well, I couldn't walk.
[00:10:18] So I was like, let's do something different.
[00:10:20] Let's, uh, put that post out.
[00:10:22] Uh, and I think we came up with a little over $7,000 and just in the foosball family around
[00:10:27] here.
[00:10:27] Wow.
[00:10:27] And I think a couple of, um, a couple of out of state just sent cash stab this money.
[00:10:32] We had like over.
[00:10:33] We had some response from Missouri.
[00:10:35] Um, they even had a, um, a charity tournament, um, after we made the, the initial, um, donation
[00:10:42] to Asheville, uh, they had a charity tournament and then sent, you know, another $250 to go towards
[00:10:49] our toy drive at the tournament.
[00:10:52] So yeah, we had a, we had a pretty big response and a really quick amount of time.
[00:10:56] Like it was a really short amount of time.
[00:10:58] It was sort of surprising.
[00:11:00] Well, it wasn't surprising that when we had $3,500 and they said, here, just send you cash
[00:11:04] and you go do the shopping.
[00:11:06] Go do the shopping.
[00:11:07] And we filled up a six, six by 12 trailer, uh, closed from the top to the bottom, all the
[00:11:14] way to the, out the back door.
[00:11:16] And we posted all the receipts for people to see.
[00:11:18] And we took it to Weaverville, one of the hardest hits right by Swannanoa.
[00:11:23] It was a pretty cool.
[00:11:25] People come out, they were clapping and one lady was crying.
[00:11:28] I mean, yeah, like 15, 20 people unloading.
[00:11:30] We didn't have to touch anything, but we had Billy Sargent from up there and chalk with Jonathan
[00:11:35] Moore, Michelle, they were in there.
[00:11:36] My daughters was in there and I was just standing there watching.
[00:11:39] No, I'm doing nothing.
[00:11:40] Wow.
[00:11:41] That's, that's terrific.
[00:11:42] You did more than you think.
[00:11:45] Yeah.
[00:11:45] Yep.
[00:11:46] Absolutely.
[00:11:47] Usually it's me coming up with crazy ideas and Jason implementing them to try to, you
[00:11:51] know, suit my whim.
[00:11:54] Um, but this was actually his idea.
[00:11:56] Um, and you know, we hit the ground running and thankfully we had a big response.
[00:12:01] The last thing is that one of my buddies got a whole tractor and trailer load from Ace
[00:12:05] Avant, a place here in High Point, uh, Archdale, Trendy area in North Carolina, a whole tractor
[00:12:09] and trailer.
[00:12:10] And he calls me and said, Hey, I seen you were up there, where do you want to go?
[00:12:12] So I sent it back to Swan and Noah and Weaverville.
[00:12:15] They took a whole tractor and trailer load.
[00:12:17] Whoa.
[00:12:17] From one, one business.
[00:12:19] One business.
[00:12:20] We've had a lot of, we had a lot of round businesses around here do that and they're
[00:12:24] still doing it today.
[00:12:24] Now they're sending instead of food, they're sending like buddy heaters and propane and
[00:12:29] kerosene heaters.
[00:12:30] We're doing that now.
[00:12:31] Okay.
[00:12:32] Yeah.
[00:12:32] Not we, but people around here.
[00:12:34] Oh, well.
[00:12:34] So it's been, it's been pretty good to see humanity back around anyway.
[00:12:39] Yeah.
[00:12:39] Yeah.
[00:12:40] No, this is, this is what we do as, as, uh, as Americans and as, as people in general,
[00:12:44] we, we come to each other's rescue.
[00:12:46] Uh, that's, uh, and, and, and foosball, no exception.
[00:12:49] Great family.
[00:12:50] And of course, uh, very generous people, uh, playing foosball.
[00:12:53] Of course.
[00:12:54] We've learned that, um, every year that we've run the tournament, uh, the North Carolina
[00:12:59] state, we've tried, I've tried to adopt a charity.
[00:13:02] Um, the last few years it's been toys for tots.
[00:13:05] Um, one year wounded warriors.
[00:13:07] Yeah, we did wounded warriors one year, but, but the last few years has been toys for tots
[00:13:12] and, um, progressively we've increased the donations.
[00:13:16] I've learned that if you ask for money instead of an, you know, a foosball player, remember
[00:13:22] to bring me a toy, I can get, you know, the money out of his pocket before I can get the
[00:13:26] toy out of his hand.
[00:13:28] Um, but last year we learned that our friends are really sadistic.
[00:13:31] Yeah.
[00:13:32] Um, so we did like a pie in the face challenge.
[00:13:35] Um, we had two jars out and people donated to see who they wanted to have pie in their face.
[00:13:42] Um, who pray tell was, uh, got their, got the pie in the face.
[00:13:46] But let's say I caught Jan Maynard stealing money out of my jar, putting it in hers.
[00:13:51] And, uh, there's a couple other people making it.
[00:13:53] So I ended up with a pie in my face, but we also got a pie in my face.
[00:13:58] And Sean, because they did cheat, Sean came up behind her and just smashed her.
[00:14:02] So we ended up taking like $1,600 and me and my three daughters and her, we went, each
[00:14:07] had a buggy and my daughters enjoyed it more than anything.
[00:14:10] And he's like, dad, we get to buy what we want or what we would have wanted when we were
[00:14:14] little shop for all these kids.
[00:14:17] And we took it to toys for Todd drop off, which is like one of them around here is planet
[00:14:21] fitness.
[00:14:21] Yes.
[00:14:22] We filled up their foyer.
[00:14:23] We filled up their foyer.
[00:14:24] Oh, yes.
[00:14:25] Wow.
[00:14:26] And it was, it was pretty awesome.
[00:14:27] $1,600.
[00:14:28] And, uh, like this one's big about accounting for every dime.
[00:14:32] So we posted a receipt and posted it with everybody's thanks.
[00:14:36] And she ruined a $30 teacher because they didn't have a pie.
[00:14:41] So we use some kind of custard.
[00:14:42] They had it.
[00:14:43] It was brutal.
[00:14:45] Well, if you're going to the tournament, uh, Thanksgiving weekend in North Carolina state,
[00:14:50] what would you like them to bring?
[00:14:51] More toys?
[00:14:52] Is that a drive you're doing again?
[00:14:54] I mean, if they have toys they can bring, absolutely.
[00:14:56] We'll take your cash.
[00:14:57] We'll take, we'll take toys.
[00:14:59] We'll take whatever.
[00:15:00] I mean, we're just trying to get, because the, the, the mountains have been hit so hard.
[00:15:05] We're not doing it for Toys for Tots this year.
[00:15:07] Okay.
[00:15:07] We're going to do a toys.
[00:15:08] Yeah.
[00:15:08] What are you doing this year?
[00:15:09] North Carolina this year.
[00:15:11] Yeah.
[00:15:11] We're not going to just give to that organization.
[00:15:13] It's definitely going to go directly to the, the kids in the mountains this year.
[00:15:18] Good.
[00:15:18] Yeah.
[00:15:19] Good, good, good.
[00:15:19] That was this one's idea.
[00:15:21] She tried to beat me to it.
[00:15:22] So thank you for credit.
[00:15:25] I mean, so much of the focus has been rightly so on, you know, things that they need right
[00:15:31] now.
[00:15:31] You know, we need food, we need shelter, we need clothing.
[00:15:34] And it's coming up on Christmas.
[00:15:36] So I feel like, you know, the kids need to celebrate Christmas too.
[00:15:40] And I mean, they're in a, some of them in a really poor situation.
[00:15:44] So we're trying to make it, you know, a little bit better at least.
[00:15:47] Wow.
[00:15:48] Thank you so much for doing what you do.
[00:15:50] And if anybody's listening to this podcast and they want to help and they want to donate,
[00:15:54] even if they're not going to be there at North Carolina state, what, what would
[00:15:57] they do?
[00:15:57] How would they reach you guys?
[00:15:59] Um, they can just reach out, um, through Facebook to me or to Jason and we can set it up from
[00:16:04] there.
[00:16:05] No, no, no.
[00:16:05] We'll just reach out to Michelle McCall and she'll get the information for whatever you
[00:16:12] want.
[00:16:12] Uh, Jason's going to buy out of this one.
[00:16:14] Um, I don't do money.
[00:16:15] That's that one.
[00:16:17] I do all the backlifting and getting all the stuff ready for tournaments and smart guy.
[00:16:22] Wicked smart.
[00:16:23] Yeah.
[00:16:23] Wicked smart.
[00:16:23] There you go.
[00:16:25] Yeah.
[00:16:26] I know my boundaries, buddy.
[00:16:29] Yeah.
[00:16:30] Send checks to Randy Raposo payable to cash.
[00:16:36] Done.
[00:16:37] Done.
[00:16:38] They'll get, they'll get there.
[00:16:39] I'll make sure they get that.
[00:16:40] I promise.
[00:16:41] I promise.
[00:16:41] Yeah.
[00:16:42] No, but that, that's, that's, we, we did that.
[00:16:45] Uh, we had a guy do that here a couple of years ago, a toys for Todd's tournament.
[00:16:49] And, uh, I think that stuff's awesome.
[00:16:51] I really do.
[00:16:52] Foosball players.
[00:16:53] I say it all the time.
[00:16:54] We're so selfish.
[00:16:56] Right.
[00:16:56] But at the same time, foosball players can be so generous.
[00:16:58] Like we want tournaments to be a certain way.
[00:17:01] We're selfish about foosball when, when it comes to helping other foosball players or
[00:17:04] even other families, the foosball players are the most giving and you know, I mean,
[00:17:09] it's such a, it's such a tight knit community.
[00:17:11] Yeah.
[00:17:11] It's such a tight knit community.
[00:17:13] I, you know, I love it.
[00:17:14] I really love it.
[00:17:15] So, um, so again, but I'm sorry, Randy.
[00:17:19] No, you're good.
[00:17:20] Go ahead.
[00:17:21] Please.
[00:17:21] I was going to say there was others that donated to, I think Jessica.
[00:17:24] Um, I didn't go on temp to say her last name.
[00:17:26] That's her buddy.
[00:17:27] Uh, she, she, uh, she donated some money.
[00:17:30] There's a lot of people that was out of this state, but the still the foosball community,
[00:17:34] they donated a lot of money.
[00:17:37] Even Rob Roy, uh, from up there in, uh, Bristol, Tennessee, they, they helped out.
[00:17:41] So, I mean, there's been men more than just North Carolina foosball players.
[00:17:46] Yeah.
[00:17:47] Jessica.
[00:17:48] Jessica.
[00:17:49] Ryboflavin.
[00:17:51] Ryboflavin.
[00:17:51] Yeah.
[00:17:52] See, see how y'all butchered that.
[00:17:54] I was not going there.
[00:17:56] I love her to death.
[00:17:57] And she's Jessica.
[00:17:59] Just foosball.
[00:18:00] Yeah.
[00:18:01] Yeah.
[00:18:02] It's okay, Jessica.
[00:18:03] We, we, we're, we're only joshing you, but it's, uh, you know, thank you for your generosity.
[00:18:09] Uh, yeah.
[00:18:12] Jessica Ryboflavin.
[00:18:13] Yeah.
[00:18:13] She's a foosball player.
[00:18:14] I'll pay for that one too.
[00:18:16] So.
[00:18:17] No.
[00:18:17] So, so somebody get, is somebody getting a pie in the face this year or no?
[00:18:21] We haven't decided.
[00:18:22] Well, well, I was trying to work towards a dunking booth.
[00:18:27] Yes.
[00:18:28] There you go.
[00:18:28] A dunking booth or a, like a polar plunge into the pool.
[00:18:32] No.
[00:18:34] See, the dunking booth, Randy, is going to be the same damn thing.
[00:18:37] It's going to be cold.
[00:18:38] You're talking about Asheville in November.
[00:18:40] Mm-hmm.
[00:18:41] At the end of November.
[00:18:41] Yeah, but, but they can't put that inside.
[00:18:43] It's a big room.
[00:18:44] They can't put it inside.
[00:18:45] Well, I think it's the mess that comes along with the dunk.
[00:18:47] I think it's the water that comes out.
[00:18:49] Yeah.
[00:18:49] Yeah.
[00:18:49] It's a little tough to do.
[00:18:52] Put it in the parking lot.
[00:18:53] She said, she said she wanted to do that.
[00:18:55] Put it in the parking lot.
[00:18:55] I'm out, bro.
[00:18:57] I'm out.
[00:18:58] That's 270 coming down.
[00:18:59] I'm making a big minutes.
[00:19:00] I mean, yeah.
[00:19:03] Yeah.
[00:19:04] Yeah.
[00:19:05] Yeah.
[00:19:05] Yeah.
[00:19:06] It'd be different if the water was warm.
[00:19:07] I'd go down and just stay down.
[00:19:09] I agree.
[00:19:09] I agree.
[00:19:10] That sort of takes the fun out of it, right?
[00:19:12] Just water up to here.
[00:19:14] Just water up to here.
[00:19:15] Right.
[00:19:15] Right, right, right.
[00:19:16] Yeah.
[00:19:17] No.
[00:19:17] I'm not playing foosball this weekend.
[00:19:19] I'll be right here.
[00:19:21] It's a dunk tank.
[00:19:22] Like a hot tub.
[00:19:23] Yeah.
[00:19:24] It's a dunk tank.
[00:19:24] Oh, no.
[00:19:25] No.
[00:19:26] No.
[00:19:27] No.
[00:19:28] So, so NC State this year.
[00:19:31] How's it looking?
[00:19:32] I mean, I know you guys have been promoting this thing for a little while.
[00:19:34] How's it looking?
[00:19:36] We showed our block up and extended it a couple of times.
[00:19:39] Ooh.
[00:19:39] So that's good on the room front.
[00:19:41] I don't know.
[00:19:42] Are you coming?
[00:19:43] Are you coming this year?
[00:19:44] Unfortunately, I am not coming.
[00:19:46] So I, uh, no, I started.
[00:19:49] So, no, no dunk tank for me.
[00:19:51] No, I gotta, I gotta judge.
[00:19:53] So I was doing real estate full time.
[00:19:55] And then a couple of years ago, things kind of, things kind of stopped like right at Thanksgiving.
[00:19:59] So I had to, I had to get a day job.
[00:20:01] I've been working for this company for a couple of years and winter times when we're really busy.
[00:20:05] And so I don't even get Friday off.
[00:20:07] I gotta, I got Thanksgiving off and then I gotta work Friday and I'm probably gonna have to work through the weekend.
[00:20:12] So, uh, which sucks, but I look, I was going before I got married, I was going to NC state every year, religiously.
[00:20:20] I like, so Adam Emmons, Billy Pappas, we would have Turkey at my mom's house and then get in the car and drive 14 hours down to North Carolina to play foosball for the weekend.
[00:20:32] I always loved NC state.
[00:20:34] It's a wonderful tournament.
[00:20:35] Always been a great tournament.
[00:20:36] Always been well attended.
[00:20:37] Uh, it's been one of the longest running tournaments in the country.
[00:20:41] And I, I've always been supportive of it.
[00:20:44] Now that I'm, you know, five, six hours away, I want to continue to support it.
[00:20:48] It's just, I screwed up and got married and have bills and I have responsibilities.
[00:20:53] I'm such an idiot.
[00:20:54] I just want to play foosball.
[00:20:56] So whatever.
[00:20:56] Anyway.
[00:20:57] We'll forgive you, Randy.
[00:20:59] It's okay.
[00:21:01] It's going to be okay.
[00:21:02] But can I forgive myself?
[00:21:04] Yes.
[00:21:04] That's the problem.
[00:21:05] Yes, you can.
[00:21:07] Yeah.
[00:21:07] Yeah.
[00:21:09] She's trying to extend her thing.
[00:21:10] She wants to do two of these a year now.
[00:21:12] Oh, she wants to do one.
[00:21:13] Let's go.
[00:21:14] Okay.
[00:21:14] Put another one in the middle of the, the springtime, summertime months.
[00:21:18] And I'm like, she's killing me, bro.
[00:21:21] Springtime.
[00:21:21] I'll hit, I'll hit that one.
[00:21:22] I'll hit that one.
[00:21:23] For sure.
[00:21:24] I'll bring my wife.
[00:21:25] Well, yeah.
[00:21:25] No, I'll hit that one.
[00:21:26] That's something we're working towards now.
[00:21:27] That's something we're working towards now.
[00:21:29] Okay.
[00:21:30] Nice.
[00:21:30] Yeah.
[00:21:31] He hates it when I have ideas.
[00:21:33] He literally hates it.
[00:21:34] I mean, around the house.
[00:21:36] Because it costs me money.
[00:21:37] About school.
[00:21:38] About anything.
[00:21:39] No.
[00:21:40] What do you mean?
[00:21:40] What do you mean you want to do this?
[00:21:42] What do you mean you want to go back to school after you had three kids?
[00:21:44] And now she's a senior at UNC Chapel Hill.
[00:21:47] Whoa.
[00:21:48] Congratulations.
[00:21:48] Yes.
[00:21:49] Congratulations.
[00:21:50] Yeah.
[00:21:50] That's cool.
[00:21:50] Let's go.
[00:21:50] I'm her biggest fan.
[00:21:51] She tossed the shit out of me, boys.
[00:21:53] I'm telling you.
[00:21:54] Yeah.
[00:21:54] I got three daughters and a wife.
[00:21:57] Two in college.
[00:21:58] And it's, it's brutal.
[00:22:00] It's brutal.
[00:22:00] Jason, Jason just can't catch a break, man.
[00:22:02] This is, uh, you know.
[00:22:04] You don't know how lucky.
[00:22:05] Break when he got this job.
[00:22:06] You don't know how lucky I am, buddy.
[00:22:08] Yeah.
[00:22:09] Yeah.
[00:22:09] You just don't know.
[00:22:10] Well, um, so I have to ask, what's the degree in, Michelle?
[00:22:15] I'm double majoring in psych and history.
[00:22:18] Double major.
[00:22:19] With a minor in religion.
[00:22:21] Okay.
[00:22:22] He's an overachiever.
[00:22:23] Overachiever.
[00:22:24] I guess.
[00:22:36] Oh my God.
[00:22:38] The show.
[00:22:39] Uh, whenever she can't beat me, she can't beat you.
[00:22:42] No.
[00:22:46] Okay.
[00:22:47] Can it cause us arguments?
[00:22:48] Oh, okay.
[00:22:50] Well, Michelle, I want you to go first.
[00:22:52] Um, when was the first time you saw a foosball table?
[00:22:54] How old were you and what kind of table was it?
[00:22:57] Oh, wow.
[00:22:58] Um, I was probably 17.
[00:23:02] Mm-hmm.
[00:23:02] Um, and it was a tornado table, um, in a bar in Greensboro.
[00:23:07] Oh.
[00:23:07] A bar.
[00:23:08] A bar.
[00:23:08] A bar.
[00:23:09] So you understood.
[00:23:10] A bar.
[00:23:10] It was a bar.
[00:23:12] A bar.
[00:23:13] It was at the bar playing foosball.
[00:23:15] Yeah.
[00:23:16] That's right.
[00:23:16] How'd you get there?
[00:23:17] How'd you get there?
[00:23:18] You drive your car?
[00:23:20] Here we go.
[00:23:22] Here we go, Randy.
[00:23:23] You wanted to drink.
[00:23:24] It wasn't a beer.
[00:23:25] It wasn't.
[00:23:26] Okay.
[00:23:26] It wasn't.
[00:23:28] Okay.
[00:23:29] And, um, and actually, uh, that's where I met Charlie McIntosh.
[00:23:34] Oh, it is.
[00:23:35] I was probably about 17 years old.
[00:23:37] Okay.
[00:23:37] And, and, uh, so when you first played that, I mean, obviously you saw it for the first time.
[00:23:41] You got a chance to play on the table.
[00:23:43] What, uh, what, what kept you coming back?
[00:23:47] Um, honestly.
[00:23:48] It was the, not him.
[00:23:51] Not him.
[00:23:53] Um, uh, it was the players.
[00:23:55] Um, it was the people that I played with.
[00:23:57] Um, it was Charlie.
[00:23:58] It was, um, this guy, uh, kid Cunningham.
[00:24:02] Um, he's passed away, um, several years ago, but giant, great Teddy, great big teddy bear.
[00:24:08] Um, Larry Sproul was one, uh, you know, it was just, it was just even within that little
[00:24:15] bar.
[00:24:15] It was a community.
[00:24:17] Um, it was actually looking back on it.
[00:24:20] You know, I didn't recognize it then or what it was.
[00:24:23] Um, I just knew that I was having fun with my friends.
[00:24:26] Um, but it was something that I could compete with.
[00:24:28] Like I couldn't do the angles of pool and I have no aim for darts.
[00:24:33] Um, and that was, it was darts, pool, foosball or drinking.
[00:24:37] And I was 17.
[00:24:38] So, um, it was, it was foosball.
[00:24:41] Good choice.
[00:24:42] Very good choice.
[00:24:43] And so Jason, your turn.
[00:24:45] Uh, how, what, uh, how old were you when we saw first, first saw a foosball table and
[00:24:50] what kind of table was it?
[00:24:52] Well, we were, uh, Charlie used to have this thing in, uh, South Main High Point called
[00:24:56] the shelter.
[00:24:57] And there was nothing but foosball tables.
[00:24:59] Well, you couldn't go in, but I snuck in.
[00:25:02] I was 13.
[00:25:03] I didn't play.
[00:25:04] I told you I couldn't play at Lick, but that's when I first met Charlie and Larry Spruill,
[00:25:08] um, a bunch of kids, David Ferguson, all these guys.
[00:25:11] And then I slowly started playing a little bit at Sharky's probably full time playing about
[00:25:18] in 98, 97, 98, maybe, maybe 96.
[00:25:23] I can't remember, but that's where we started Sharky's and we had four tables and we played
[00:25:27] every Tuesday and Saturday.
[00:25:28] And that was when it was 50 cent a game and a loser plays.
[00:25:31] So I, I'd have, I'd have two rolls of quarters and I, cause loser, I was, I couldn't play
[00:25:38] dead in a Western.
[00:25:40] But they want to talk, they want to talk to me and I just, uh, I didn't like, I didn't
[00:25:45] like to lose.
[00:25:46] I couldn't stand it.
[00:25:46] So I'd go through $40 a night because I'm going to play.
[00:25:51] And then my dad had a table too.
[00:25:52] Yeah.
[00:25:52] But my, my dad had a table, but it was an old douche Meister.
[00:25:56] Okay.
[00:25:56] Um, yeah.
[00:25:57] Um, with the one single goalie ramps in the corners, you know, but that's where it started.
[00:26:03] But when playing like with the competition and the anger, the greed, want to win.
[00:26:10] And I just, I was, I was playing.
[00:26:12] The anger of the greed.
[00:26:13] Yes.
[00:26:14] Oh, the anger.
[00:26:15] I'm tired of losing 50 cents at a time.
[00:26:17] I was losing $40 a night.
[00:26:19] Cause I, I would bring 20 and quarters and then go to the bar and ask for 20 more.
[00:26:24] More, more quarters.
[00:26:26] We played on Tuesday nights.
[00:26:28] We'd shut it down to 30.
[00:26:29] Wow.
[00:26:30] And then Saturday nights we'd have people come from, from Asheville, from Charlotte, from
[00:26:34] the coast to Sharky's and three o'clock we're trying to finish a tournament and the bar's
[00:26:39] going, y'all got to go.
[00:26:40] We played a couple to four o'clock in the morning.
[00:26:42] Oh, we had like 18, 19 teams.
[00:26:45] It was brutal.
[00:26:46] It's funny that he, he tells this story because I was playing in Greensboro and this bar Sharky's
[00:26:52] was in High Point.
[00:26:53] And so my friend said, Hey, let's go, let's go hit up Sharky's.
[00:26:57] Um, and this was before we met.
[00:26:59] So, so me and my friend go in and we're watching people play and we thought we were good.
[00:27:03] Right.
[00:27:03] But these people were like mind blowing.
[00:27:06] And I, I literally said, I am scared.
[00:27:08] Can we leave?
[00:27:09] Can we leave?
[00:27:12] Not even going to attempt it.
[00:27:14] Not even going to try.
[00:27:14] So then you go to, then we go to 1998 and, uh, she was talking about that bar.
[00:27:20] She was talking about, she played at was shooters, but they changed, they moved that
[00:27:25] location to another one.
[00:27:26] Charlie started having tournaments at the new shooters.
[00:27:29] Okay.
[00:27:30] We went there and that's where we met in 98.
[00:27:32] Yeah.
[00:27:33] So I was working at shooters at that point.
[00:27:34] Um, and Charlie had set up a tournament and it just happened.
[00:27:40] You know, they, they came in, they set up the tables.
[00:27:42] I was bartending.
[00:27:43] And I was walking out from behind the bar to clean the floor, you know, because
[00:27:47] these ball players are messy.
[00:27:49] Yeah.
[00:27:50] Hang on.
[00:27:50] And, uh, and this guy says, so when you're going to take me to dinner and I was like,
[00:27:54] what?
[00:27:55] Whoa.
[00:27:55] She said, what the hell is this guy talking about?
[00:27:59] I shot my shot, bro.
[00:28:01] I said, Hey, when you taking me out to dinner and then it's a wrap, bro.
[00:28:04] You miss, you miss, you miss all the shots.
[00:28:07] You don't shoot buddy.
[00:28:09] That's right.
[00:28:10] That's right.
[00:28:11] That is funny.
[00:28:12] I have that.
[00:28:14] That's the picture downstairs.
[00:28:15] It literally says that on our wall.
[00:28:17] You miss all the shots.
[00:28:18] You don't shoot.
[00:28:19] Let's go.
[00:28:21] Here you are.
[00:28:21] But this, this was a, a, a match made in heaven.
[00:28:25] I mean, you guys met at a foosball tournament.
[00:28:28] Yep.
[00:28:29] That's cool.
[00:28:30] Yeah.
[00:28:30] I wasn't even playing at that point.
[00:28:32] I don't know if it'd be heaven or not, but it was a match made in somewhere.
[00:28:35] It's on the day.
[00:28:36] It was made at, it was made at shooters.
[00:28:39] It was a match made at shooters.
[00:28:40] Shooters.
[00:28:41] Shooters, yes.
[00:28:41] Yeah.
[00:28:42] It was definitely made somewhere, but I will say she needs an award putting up with my ass
[00:28:46] for 20, 27 years.
[00:28:49] So we're good with that.
[00:28:50] Sure.
[00:28:51] Sure, buddy.
[00:28:52] Sure.
[00:28:52] Yeah.
[00:28:53] Yeah.
[00:28:53] Yeah.
[00:28:53] Yeah.
[00:28:54] Yeah.
[00:28:54] Yeah.
[00:28:54] Yeah.
[00:28:54] Yeah.
[00:28:54] Yeah.
[00:28:55] Yeah.
[00:28:57] It's funny.
[00:28:57] Now, how many, listen, how many times have you talked to somebody and told them you
[00:29:00] play foosball and there, and there were immediate responses.
[00:29:04] I'm, I'm really good at foosball.
[00:29:05] I'm like the best at foosball.
[00:29:06] No, I'm like the best.
[00:29:07] No, no, no.
[00:29:08] My favorite is, dude, I used to play all the time, dude.
[00:29:10] I'm really good.
[00:29:11] That's it.
[00:29:11] I'm really, I'm.
[00:29:12] I could beat everybody.
[00:29:14] Yep.
[00:29:14] And then I'll say, hey, you want to step, you want to step on the table?
[00:29:17] And there's like, I don't know right now.
[00:29:19] All right.
[00:29:19] Yeah.
[00:29:19] Or they get on the table and they can't carry a tune, bro.
[00:29:23] It's bad.
[00:29:23] Yeah.
[00:29:24] Yeah.
[00:29:24] Oh, well, it's been a long time.
[00:29:26] I haven't played a long time.
[00:29:28] Let me get one up.
[00:29:29] This one's the devil.
[00:29:30] We used to have this bar up here in High Point.
[00:29:33] It's called Triangle Billiards.
[00:29:34] It's called Triangle Billiards.
[00:29:36] It's a college bar.
[00:29:38] So you go in there, they got one table and it looks like the ball looks like a freaking marble.
[00:29:42] It's terrible.
[00:29:43] Hard as a rock.
[00:29:44] Covered in beer.
[00:29:46] Yep.
[00:29:46] Covered in beer.
[00:29:47] And the guys go, well, I ain't going to lose to no girls.
[00:29:51] So my fat ass gets in the back.
[00:29:54] I'm going to get right in the back and I'm going to let her play front.
[00:29:57] And this, this smile is ear to ear.
[00:30:00] She's pounding these dudes and they're mad and cussing and I'm just dragging points.
[00:30:04] And she, that's what her favorite thing is go beat up on some college boys.
[00:30:08] I love it.
[00:30:09] I love it.
[00:30:09] Yeah.
[00:30:10] It, it is.
[00:30:11] It feels good to beat the guys.
[00:30:13] I'm sorry.
[00:30:14] I love it.
[00:30:14] When they start talking to Joe, oh, this guy ain't going to get beat by another girl.
[00:30:18] I just go ahead and get in the back and I'm done.
[00:30:20] I ain't going to try to get up and embarrass nobody.
[00:30:22] I'm going to let her do it.
[00:30:22] Randy knows this story.
[00:30:24] It was funny.
[00:30:25] It's not funny.
[00:30:27] It's not funny.
[00:30:28] So you probably have players come up to the table and say, are you guys, are you guys good?
[00:30:33] Are you good at this?
[00:30:34] I love you, Randy.
[00:30:35] It's not funny.
[00:30:36] It's not funny.
[00:30:38] It's not funny, Michelle.
[00:30:39] It's not funny.
[00:30:39] I love you, Randy.
[00:30:43] I said, what'd you do?
[00:30:46] What'd you do to Randy?
[00:30:50] It wasn't what, it wasn't what she, it was.
[00:30:52] She, she, she got blocked.
[00:30:54] That's what she did.
[00:30:55] Her partner, that guy.
[00:30:57] That guy.
[00:30:58] I think that there was some testosterone flying across the table.
[00:31:04] Yeah.
[00:31:04] Back and forth.
[00:31:06] And finally, I had had enough.
[00:31:08] I said, Randy, I don't know why you're running your mouth.
[00:31:12] You can't even score on a girl.
[00:31:16] Oh, look at the expression.
[00:31:17] That looks good at all.
[00:31:18] Yeah, it does.
[00:31:18] It was a match ball.
[00:31:19] It was a match ball.
[00:31:20] It was a match ball.
[00:31:21] I had a shot.
[00:31:22] She blocked me.
[00:31:23] Ooh.
[00:31:24] Ooh.
[00:31:25] Match ball.
[00:31:25] She played good.
[00:31:26] Why?
[00:31:26] She played good.
[00:31:27] She played good.
[00:31:29] She played good.
[00:31:30] I'm not a sore loser.
[00:31:32] I want to take that game with me to my grave.
[00:31:35] Yeah.
[00:31:35] I would.
[00:31:36] I would.
[00:31:38] I would.
[00:31:38] Remember that one you said you were running?
[00:31:40] Hello.
[00:31:41] Yeah.
[00:31:42] I'm humble.
[00:31:43] Yeah.
[00:31:44] Look, listen, I'm going to tell you something.
[00:31:47] I'm not a sore loser.
[00:31:49] I've learned how to lose with grace.
[00:31:51] So I just go to the car and, excuse me, the car, shut the door, roll up the windows and
[00:31:56] scream or cry or whatever.
[00:31:58] Nobody sees it.
[00:31:59] Nobody knows.
[00:32:01] It is what it is.
[00:32:02] I feel so bad now.
[00:32:04] Yeah.
[00:32:04] Yeah.
[00:32:04] I feel so bad.
[00:32:05] Michelle's got scoreboard on me.
[00:32:06] She's got scoreboard on me one time.
[00:32:08] Yeah.
[00:32:09] That one time we played.
[00:32:11] That's it.
[00:32:11] Yeah.
[00:32:12] She's batting a thousand.
[00:32:13] It is what it is.
[00:32:14] What do you want?
[00:32:15] Never playing you in.
[00:32:17] All right, Tom.
[00:32:18] All right, Tom.
[00:32:18] I got to go.
[00:32:19] Yeah.
[00:32:20] Good night, everybody.
[00:32:20] See, I knew it.
[00:32:22] I knew it.
[00:32:23] He just can't take the heat.
[00:32:24] He's just got it.
[00:32:25] He's.
[00:32:25] Yeah.
[00:32:25] I can dish it out.
[00:32:27] Typical.
[00:32:27] I can dish it out.
[00:32:28] I can't take it.
[00:32:28] What do you want?
[00:32:29] Typical.
[00:32:30] It's funny you take it and take it so calmly like that because we'll be in Charlotte and
[00:32:34] we'll be in Raleigh where we'll be playing at the house and I'm scoring on everybody and
[00:32:39] I'm having a good time.
[00:32:40] And then come up in open draw and I got to play her.
[00:32:43] Ooh.
[00:32:44] Like you want to play front or back.
[00:32:45] I'm like, I'm going to go to the back right now.
[00:32:48] Cause this fuzzy blocks me better than anybody in the house.
[00:32:51] Isn't it?
[00:32:51] Isn't it the worst?
[00:32:52] Isn't it the worst?
[00:32:53] I mean, I can score on her, but it's test too much trouble.
[00:32:56] Too much trouble.
[00:32:58] I'm done.
[00:32:59] Well, then how's the ride home?
[00:33:02] Yeah.
[00:33:03] And if we go to Raleigh or we go to Charlotte, it's an hour and a half each way.
[00:33:06] Either way.
[00:33:07] Ooh.
[00:33:07] I ain't trying to hear that crap all the way home, bro.
[00:33:10] Oh, dead silence.
[00:33:11] I understand.
[00:33:12] I understand.
[00:33:13] I understand.
[00:33:14] The downfall of the bed of us playing.
[00:33:16] Yeah, no.
[00:33:17] It took us 15 years playing foosball before we could actually play together.
[00:33:22] Ooh.
[00:33:23] Okay.
[00:33:23] And not strangle each other.
[00:33:24] The reason was not that we were, I didn't want to let her down.
[00:33:28] She didn't want to let me down.
[00:33:30] And then by the time it was all said, no, we were arguing.
[00:33:32] Oh, why did you do this?
[00:33:34] Why didn't you slow down?
[00:33:35] I told you don't shoot on one second.
[00:33:37] Blah, blah, blah.
[00:33:39] It took 15 years before.
[00:33:41] Now we can play together.
[00:33:42] Somewhat.
[00:33:43] Somewhat.
[00:33:44] And remember I said our friends are sadistic.
[00:33:46] Like, so I've been told on more than one occasion by more than one foosball player that they wanted to know how to beat us as a team when we're playing well together.
[00:33:58] And their goal is to get us fighting.
[00:34:00] The argument.
[00:34:01] That's the goal.
[00:34:02] Yes.
[00:34:02] Perfect.
[00:34:03] That's, that's the psychological edge.
[00:34:05] Who does that?
[00:34:07] It's a psychological edge.
[00:34:09] Oh, in a second.
[00:34:10] Yeah.
[00:34:11] I know how to do that.
[00:34:13] Absolutely.
[00:34:14] Okay.
[00:34:14] Everyone that's listening, forget.
[00:34:17] No, that's perfect.
[00:34:19] Yeah.
[00:34:19] Yeah.
[00:34:19] We know how to do it.
[00:34:20] So, no.
[00:34:21] So, no.
[00:34:22] So like, what's, like, what's the trigger point for you guys?
[00:34:25] What's something that really, like, pushes your button?
[00:34:27] What's something that makes you argue?
[00:34:28] Please tell me.
[00:34:29] Well, for one, I'm going to tell you one.
[00:34:32] And that's it.
[00:34:33] He's really going to tell me.
[00:34:35] He's going to tell me.
[00:34:36] Let's go.
[00:34:36] I'll get out.
[00:34:37] I'll make a good pass.
[00:34:38] I'm passing good on the five.
[00:34:39] And I set up a shot.
[00:34:41] And I go on one or two seconds.
[00:34:42] Three here.
[00:34:43] I don't sit on the ball.
[00:34:44] And all I see or hear in my ears.
[00:34:49] Why don't you sit on the damn ball?
[00:34:51] So, that's the only one I'm going to tell you.
[00:34:53] And now, next subject.
[00:34:54] You know, we're done.
[00:34:55] Ooh.
[00:34:56] No, that's enough.
[00:34:57] That's all I need.
[00:34:58] That's perfect.
[00:34:59] So, when I get the ball on you, you're looking at 13 seconds, bro.
[00:35:02] Whether or not even look at the goal.
[00:35:04] Oh, no.
[00:35:05] No.
[00:35:05] Because, listen.
[00:35:06] You're going to hear it from across.
[00:35:08] This is all you're going to hear from across the table.
[00:35:09] But, you're going to hear it on both sides now.
[00:35:16] Yeah.
[00:35:16] So, for me, he just said, you know, that's one of my triggers.
[00:35:20] For him, mine is if I go to pass or I go to shoot and I do it right in that spot where,
[00:35:26] you know, somebody's baiting me.
[00:35:28] Like, okay, Sean can, like, mentally reach out and take the ball from me without me even
[00:35:34] knowing, right?
[00:35:35] And this one will be playing forward.
[00:35:38] And he doesn't do the sigh.
[00:35:40] He does the head drop.
[00:35:42] Oh, perfect.
[00:35:44] Yes.
[00:35:45] Yeah.
[00:35:45] You can just see it right out of the corner of your eye.
[00:35:49] Well, when you shoot the same spot.
[00:35:51] That's the one, Randy.
[00:35:52] That's the one.
[00:35:53] Randy, when you shoot the same shot four times in a row.
[00:35:56] And luckily, they came back to you.
[00:35:58] So, you're on the fourth one.
[00:35:59] And he just sticks there.
[00:36:01] And the man, it sticks to the man on the fourth one.
[00:36:03] Then I go.
[00:36:03] So, at some point, you think, right?
[00:36:06] That you would go into a different hole.
[00:36:07] At some point, you think that they think they're, I'm not stupid enough to do it again.
[00:36:14] Tom, Tom, Tom.
[00:36:15] Tom, you see this?
[00:36:16] It's like we're in a match right now.
[00:36:18] I know.
[00:36:18] You see this?
[00:36:19] I'm planting seed for the next time I play them, Tom.
[00:36:22] Because we're going to hang up with you guys and we're going to argue.
[00:36:24] It's the edge.
[00:36:25] You need that.
[00:36:27] You need the edge.
[00:36:29] Oh, this is perfect.
[00:36:31] Yeah.
[00:36:31] Oh.
[00:36:32] Yeah.
[00:36:33] Oh, Michelle.
[00:36:34] I'm just going to show you a hole and take it away.
[00:36:35] That's it.
[00:36:36] Four times.
[00:36:37] That's it.
[00:36:37] I'll fall for it every time.
[00:36:38] Watch it.
[00:36:40] Just don't sigh.
[00:36:42] Don't drop the head and sigh.
[00:36:43] Oh, it's going to happen.
[00:36:44] Oh, it's going to happen.
[00:36:46] It's going to happen.
[00:36:47] It's going to happen.
[00:36:48] It's not as bad if you're across the table.
[00:36:50] But if you're on the same side of the table, that's when it hurts.
[00:36:53] Oh, I know.
[00:36:54] I know.
[00:36:54] I've had to learn to control my emotions and my body language when I'm playing with somebody.
[00:36:59] Because they pick up on that stuff, for sure.
[00:37:01] Oh, really?
[00:37:02] Sure.
[00:37:02] Are you guys playing anything together at the tournament at NC State?
[00:37:08] I think we're playing Expert Mixed.
[00:37:10] She dumped me.
[00:37:10] No, no.
[00:37:11] She dumped me for it.
[00:37:12] Our third win of Expert Mixed.
[00:37:15] Oh, you're going for your third win.
[00:37:18] So, defending the title.
[00:37:20] Yes.
[00:37:20] Nice.
[00:37:21] Very cool.
[00:37:22] Wow.
[00:37:23] She dumped me for Expert Doubles, though.
[00:37:25] So, I had to pick me up somebody else.
[00:37:27] Hmm.
[00:37:27] Who you got?
[00:37:28] She dumped me for Johnny Dover, which they've been playing a lot lately.
[00:37:33] But then Johnny dumped me.
[00:37:35] Then Johnny's like, I got to go.
[00:37:36] So, I'm playing with...
[00:37:38] I'm supposed to play with Jonathan Moore.
[00:37:39] She's going to play with Billy Sargent.
[00:37:44] So, Chuck...
[00:37:44] I'm not mad.
[00:37:46] I'm not mad, Michelle.
[00:37:47] I'm not mad.
[00:37:48] I'm just disappointed.
[00:37:52] Can you take his head?
[00:37:53] Sweet.
[00:37:54] That's sweet.
[00:37:54] I like to take no break.
[00:37:56] The delivery was just on time, man.
[00:37:58] Yeah, yeah.
[00:37:58] And do not disappoint Randy Raposo, okay?
[00:38:01] Just don't do it.
[00:38:02] Well, I can't at this year's North Carolina State, as he has already clarified, he will not be in attendance.
[00:38:07] Well, that's the only attendance I can let go, and my friends say, but I have to work.
[00:38:13] That's the one that'll let go.
[00:38:14] And they say, well, I've got to do this and that.
[00:38:16] No, that's on Thanksgiving night.
[00:38:18] You got Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, you come up, hang out, play in the draw, whatever.
[00:38:22] No, absolutely.
[00:38:23] If you got the weekend off, and you can come over, come over for sure, because it's always a good time.
[00:38:29] North Carolina, I mean, the North Carolina people are always great.
[00:38:32] Again, you get to hang out with Lane Blundell.
[00:38:33] If Lane Blundell is going to be there, and you can go play and hang out with Lane, then why would you not want to do that?
[00:38:38] Good question.
[00:38:39] Why wouldn't you?
[00:38:40] Maybe we'll put that on the flyer next year.
[00:38:42] Lane will be there.
[00:38:43] Lane will be there.
[00:38:45] Lane.
[00:38:47] Lane has come up a few times here on Foos Talk Live.
[00:38:51] Propensity for, well, likes to, shall we say, wager.
[00:38:56] Party.
[00:38:57] Lane likes to party.
[00:38:58] Lane likes to party.
[00:38:59] Lane likes to, he'll gamble.
[00:39:01] Yeah, listen, everybody's got a Lane story.
[00:39:03] Everybody.
[00:39:04] Everybody.
[00:39:05] This is true.
[00:39:06] You said we didn't have but an hour, so we're going to leave it at that, because we've got
[00:39:10] some stories.
[00:39:12] I've known Lane for 30 years, bro.
[00:39:13] Oh.
[00:39:14] Lane was the last one.
[00:39:15] Oh, yeah.
[00:39:16] Night.
[00:39:16] Lane didn't leave here until 1.32 o'clock this morning, Lane left.
[00:39:21] He was the last one.
[00:39:21] This morning.
[00:39:22] And right before that, it was Jan Maynard.
[00:39:24] Yeah, this morning.
[00:39:25] Oh.
[00:39:26] Jan left about one.
[00:39:28] You guys had Foos Giving last night?
[00:39:32] She's giving, yeah.
[00:39:32] Foos Giving.
[00:39:33] Oh, tell us.
[00:39:34] Tell us about it, please.
[00:39:35] Yes.
[00:39:36] There's a long list.
[00:39:38] Carl Dills, Sean Green, Ben Wynel, who else?
[00:39:43] Lane, of course, and Jan Maynard.
[00:39:46] Go ahead.
[00:39:47] Just scream it.
[00:39:48] Oh, God.
[00:39:48] Wait, does Carl still look homeless?
[00:39:51] Oh, it is gray Abraham Lincoln beard.
[00:39:54] Yes, sir.
[00:39:55] Okay.
[00:39:56] All right.
[00:39:56] Anyway.
[00:39:57] Sorry, go ahead.
[00:39:59] Robert and Melanie Yates were here.
[00:40:04] And Lonnie Dunn, do you remember him from Albemarle?
[00:40:09] Great guy.
[00:40:09] Maybe if I see him.
[00:40:10] Very good dude.
[00:40:11] He very good dude.
[00:40:12] He hung out with me.
[00:40:13] He had a house full.
[00:40:14] I guess so.
[00:40:15] It was packed.
[00:40:16] It was packed.
[00:40:17] So because we do the tournament, we don't actually have it Thanksgiving with our family.
[00:40:23] And because we have smaller families in real life, our foosball friends have sort of taken the place.
[00:40:34] And so instead of having a full out Thanksgiving on Thanksgiving because we can't, we have it two weeks early with our foosball family.
[00:40:43] That's awesome.
[00:40:44] So we have foosgiving every year and we have foosmas.
[00:40:48] Foosmas.
[00:40:49] Foosmas.
[00:40:50] Or a couple weeks before Christmas.
[00:40:51] Is there anything like Festivus?
[00:40:55] I got some.
[00:40:56] Foosmas is.
[00:40:58] Feats of strength.
[00:41:00] Very festive last night.
[00:41:02] Yeah, last year my wife went to bed Festivus.
[00:41:05] No.
[00:41:05] Yes.
[00:41:07] I got some problems with you people.
[00:41:10] Yeah, it was very festive.
[00:41:13] So I just sat at my table last night.
[00:41:15] This one has a little thing in the basement.
[00:41:18] Until yesterday, she had nine foosball tables in the basement.
[00:41:21] I had to take two out so I could set them up.
[00:41:24] Oh.
[00:41:25] Yeah.
[00:41:25] Nine.
[00:41:26] She is quite the lady cave.
[00:41:28] It ain't no man cave.
[00:41:29] Lady cave.
[00:41:30] She's got four or five tornadoes now.
[00:41:32] She's got a Garlando.
[00:41:35] She's got a Bonzini douche master.
[00:41:38] The douche master I took out.
[00:41:39] And of course, she's got the warrior she won in her first tournament in Bainbury, Tennessee.
[00:41:44] Still have that.
[00:41:45] That's her first tournament.
[00:41:45] She came home with a table and I had everybody sign it.
[00:41:47] It was pretty cool.
[00:41:48] Cool.
[00:41:49] Nice.
[00:41:49] So we have a sweet pad in the basement.
[00:41:52] So.
[00:41:53] So.
[00:41:53] Wait.
[00:41:54] So Foosgiving.
[00:41:55] You guys, you eat and then you play?
[00:41:56] Like how does Foosgiving work?
[00:41:58] Explain, please.
[00:41:59] I mean, it's just like you would imagine.
[00:42:01] We, you know, Jason and I do the ham and the turkey and I'll make a couple of sides
[00:42:07] and then everybody brings a dish.
[00:42:09] We have, you know, some festive drinks and yeah, some kids running around coloring and
[00:42:18] playing hide and go seek.
[00:42:19] And then, you know, most of the time it ends up downstairs, you know, battling it out on
[00:42:24] the foosball table.
[00:42:24] It's sort of like a North Carolina state warmup for us also.
[00:42:29] But we had a little less play this year.
[00:42:31] We had a few that couldn't make it.
[00:42:32] But and usually the two, three of them, I don't know for sure that didn't come this year.
[00:42:38] They've been there three o'clock in the morning still playing.
[00:42:42] And I'm like, dude, y'all just shut the damn door when you leave.
[00:42:45] I'm going downstairs.
[00:42:46] Oh.
[00:42:47] I'm fat and old.
[00:42:48] I'm going to go sit down for a minute.
[00:42:49] But a couple of them couldn't make it.
[00:42:52] Well, I want to give a shout out to Keith Wood's dad.
[00:42:54] Keith Wood's dad had a heart attack.
[00:42:56] He couldn't come last night.
[00:42:58] It's hard to hear that.
[00:42:58] So yeah, he, it was sad.
[00:43:01] He called me.
[00:43:02] Forgot to tell you.
[00:43:02] Yeah.
[00:43:03] I just, she just, I forgot all about it.
[00:43:05] He called me right in the middle of the party.
[00:43:07] So I didn't want to bother her and bum her out.
[00:43:09] But that's why he didn't go.
[00:43:11] So, but Keith is usually here.
[00:43:12] Him and Will West are usually here at the three or four o'clock in the morning.
[00:43:15] Yeah.
[00:43:16] Randy penciled in Fusmas on his calendar.
[00:43:19] Heck yeah.
[00:43:19] There you go.
[00:43:21] It's penciled in.
[00:43:22] It's not guaranteed, but it's penciled in.
[00:43:24] It's in my calendar.
[00:43:25] Yeah.
[00:43:25] Yeah.
[00:43:26] He couldn't make it yesterday because he had to play in Alabama.
[00:43:29] In Georgia.
[00:43:31] Yeah.
[00:43:31] This guy's in Georgia.
[00:43:32] Georgia.
[00:43:33] Sorry.
[00:43:34] I'm sorry.
[00:43:34] Who can't beat you?
[00:43:36] I had a commitment.
[00:43:37] I'm sorry.
[00:43:38] Huh?
[00:43:39] Did Folsom beat you?
[00:43:41] No.
[00:43:42] No.
[00:43:42] We won doubles and then I beat him in singles.
[00:43:45] Uh-oh.
[00:43:46] I too straight hit him in singles.
[00:43:47] It was a necessity.
[00:43:49] You too, huh?
[00:43:49] Geez.
[00:43:50] Wow.
[00:43:51] Wow.
[00:43:52] Sighing and dropping you the head.
[00:43:54] Yeah, right.
[00:43:56] Oh, when I beat him?
[00:43:58] Oh, yeah, for sure.
[00:43:59] Oh, yeah.
[00:44:00] Oh, no.
[00:44:01] No.
[00:44:02] So before we played, I told him, I said, listen, I'm going to hack the crap out of you.
[00:44:06] And then he had some choice words for me and I laughed and then I hacked the crap out of him and then he did that.
[00:44:15] And then whatever.
[00:44:17] On to the next one.
[00:44:18] So I told him.
[00:44:21] I told him what was going to happen.
[00:44:22] He gets mad.
[00:44:23] It's, yeah, whatever.
[00:44:24] Get over it.
[00:44:25] You know?
[00:44:26] And then we left.
[00:44:27] You know, we drove home together and talked about it and whatever.
[00:44:31] It is what it is.
[00:44:32] Whatever.
[00:44:33] So he made him run home with you, Matt.
[00:44:35] Oh, yeah, yeah.
[00:44:37] Yeah.
[00:44:39] I kind of feel like it would be like you and Michelle driving home after one of you hacked the crap out of each other.
[00:44:44] So, yeah.
[00:44:45] Yeah, that's happened before.
[00:44:46] Yeah.
[00:44:47] Yeah.
[00:44:48] So.
[00:44:48] A lot of speaking.
[00:44:50] Or none at all.
[00:44:52] No, it's funny.
[00:44:55] Like, with my wife, it's different.
[00:44:56] I just turned the radio up loud.
[00:44:58] It's like, I don't know.
[00:44:59] Just shut up.
[00:45:00] Oh, yeah, dude.
[00:45:01] You know, it's an hour and a half each way.
[00:45:02] Go back home.
[00:45:03] You know, and this one's got to shut the damn bar down at 2 o'clock.
[00:45:07] Of course.
[00:45:08] She don't get to partake.
[00:45:10] She'll have a few double vodka and orange juices.
[00:45:12] And then five minutes out of the parking lot, it's over.
[00:45:17] She's asleep.
[00:45:18] All the way down.
[00:45:18] Boom.
[00:45:19] I don't know how.
[00:45:19] I'm by myself, dude, driving.
[00:45:21] I'm like, I love this woman so much.
[00:45:25] Oh, yeah.
[00:45:27] Yeah.
[00:45:28] Just for the rest.
[00:45:30] Oh, man.
[00:45:30] It doesn't matter.
[00:45:31] When we get soon as, sometimes we hit the highway, a smooth sailing, turn the radio up, turn the air conditioner on.
[00:45:37] Because, you know, I've got to be cool to stay awake.
[00:45:41] Because this mother's up here snoring.
[00:45:42] It's hard work.
[00:45:43] Oh.
[00:45:45] I understand.
[00:45:46] I understand.
[00:45:47] I understand.
[00:45:47] That's the ultimate insult right there.
[00:45:48] Right there.
[00:45:49] I don't agree with that one.
[00:45:52] Take your money.
[00:45:53] Take your money and then get chauffeured home while you take a nap.
[00:45:59] Yeah.
[00:46:01] Let's go.
[00:46:02] Yeah.
[00:46:03] Let's go.
[00:46:04] Wake me up when we get home.
[00:46:06] And then why, after 230 episodes, this is now unveiled on your podcast.
[00:46:12] Thanks.
[00:46:13] There you go.
[00:46:14] Yeah.
[00:46:14] Let's go.
[00:46:14] You can't take it back.
[00:46:15] It's out there.
[00:46:16] It's the Michelle show.
[00:46:17] It is.
[00:46:18] It's on the internet now.
[00:46:20] Yeah.
[00:46:20] You're done.
[00:46:21] It's on the internet now.
[00:46:22] Yeah.
[00:46:22] Game over.
[00:46:23] That's it.
[00:46:24] Forever.
[00:46:24] Secrets are out.
[00:46:25] This is what we do.
[00:46:27] Is this how you get me back, Randy?
[00:46:29] Just kind of, we pull it out of you.
[00:46:30] One strand at a time.
[00:46:32] That's what we do.
[00:46:34] That's it.
[00:46:35] See, Tom was like, hey, can you get the NC State promoters on?
[00:46:41] I said, yeah, I'll try.
[00:46:43] And that's why I started texting you.
[00:46:44] And I was like, no, no pressure.
[00:46:47] It's no biggie.
[00:46:48] So nice.
[00:46:50] Yeah.
[00:46:51] And now that you're on here, it's like, tell me all your secrets.
[00:46:54] Yeah.
[00:46:54] Let's go.
[00:46:56] What else can we do?
[00:46:57] Psych major, right?
[00:46:58] I know what's going on.
[00:47:02] Who's the real psych major, huh?
[00:47:03] I got a half of an associate's degree.
[00:47:07] Yeah.
[00:47:08] What do you want to do?
[00:47:09] What do you want to do?
[00:47:10] Look out.
[00:47:10] Did you say half?
[00:47:11] Did you say half of an associate's degree?
[00:47:13] Yes, he did.
[00:47:14] That's right, buddy.
[00:47:15] That's right.
[00:47:17] Yes, he did.
[00:47:20] Yeah, that's right.
[00:47:21] I got a half an associate's degree.
[00:47:22] What do you want to do?
[00:47:23] Yeah.
[00:47:23] I got 18 credits.
[00:47:26] What do you want to do?
[00:47:31] Let's go.
[00:47:32] Damn it, boy.
[00:47:34] Hey.
[00:47:35] Oh, damn.
[00:47:35] You just got to.
[00:47:38] I got some prereqs under my belt.
[00:47:39] Let's go.
[00:47:40] What do you want to do?
[00:47:43] So, getting back to business, when it comes to NC State, I got to ask you the question,
[00:47:47] because it's now sweeping the nation.
[00:47:50] We're seeing championship format.
[00:47:53] What's going on for you guys?
[00:47:54] Are you doing double elimination?
[00:47:55] What's happening?
[00:47:57] Yes.
[00:47:58] We don't never change our format, really, unless, and we hadn't done the last four or five years,
[00:48:02] so we never fell behind.
[00:48:03] No, occasionally, I think one year we had to do, we changed the format, two out of three,
[00:48:09] and then losers race seven.
[00:48:11] I can't stand race to seven.
[00:48:12] I mean, I can get beat by somebody that's never played on a table race to seven.
[00:48:16] You know, I don't, I can't stand it.
[00:48:18] And as far as single elimination goes, I don't, personally, that's, well, whoever wants to run it,
[00:48:23] but I'll spend a lot of money when we go to big tournaments, because everybody's,
[00:48:28] Randy has to pay for himself.
[00:48:29] I got to pay for two.
[00:48:31] Ooh.
[00:48:31] So, me going in and entering one event, and you're done, one and done.
[00:48:35] I mean, I don't play enough.
[00:48:38] We play once some draws around here.
[00:48:40] We don't play a lot.
[00:48:41] But I'm damn sure not going to go to a big tournament and dump a bunch of money in if I can't play.
[00:48:46] I went out the first round and made all the losers bracket and doubled it before,
[00:48:50] so I don't agree.
[00:48:52] To backpedal that just a smidge, we appreciate the reasons behind having championship format
[00:48:59] as well as single elimination.
[00:49:01] You know, I mean, different circumstances require, you know, different approaches.
[00:49:06] But we try to keep it, you know, the way it has been for so many years.
[00:49:14] And sometimes I talk too much, so she has to fix it for me.
[00:49:18] I just want my opinion.
[00:49:20] That's it.
[00:49:20] I don't care for it.
[00:49:22] And she'll try to make you right.
[00:49:25] No, no, no, no.
[00:49:27] But this is the thing.
[00:49:28] It's, again, we've had a lot of promoters on here.
[00:49:30] Again, Mary was on here last week.
[00:49:32] You know, you guys have skin in the game.
[00:49:34] It's a lot different than people who aren't even supporting events,
[00:49:38] talking about different formats that they like or they don't like,
[00:49:41] when they've never even played an event that, you know, carries that format.
[00:49:46] I mean, again, this is a tournament that you guys have been running now for years.
[00:49:49] You know what works.
[00:49:50] You know what doesn't work.
[00:49:51] You haven't had issues.
[00:49:52] If there's an issue, you adjust.
[00:49:54] So, again, who's all players, we, you know, we like things.
[00:49:59] Who's all players don't adjust to change well.
[00:50:01] I know Ryan's making some changes.
[00:50:03] I'm actually excited for the changes.
[00:50:06] I've played championship format events.
[00:50:08] I like it.
[00:50:09] It doesn't bother me.
[00:50:10] I've won in championship format.
[00:50:11] I've lost in championship format.
[00:50:14] I, you know, double elimination.
[00:50:16] Great.
[00:50:17] Whatever works.
[00:50:18] You know, but, again, you're entitled to your opinion.
[00:50:21] It's your event.
[00:50:22] If you want to run it, you know, you want to make it four out of seven,
[00:50:25] win by 100, that's your, I mean, have a great week.
[00:50:29] Have a great week.
[00:50:30] It's going to take you a month to run that tournament or whatever.
[00:50:32] But, you know.
[00:50:34] No, no, see, we always finish early on Sunday.
[00:50:37] Okay.
[00:50:37] Yeah.
[00:50:38] For the last four or five years, we finished early on Sunday.
[00:50:42] We have time to load the tables and get the, get Kenneth Dale and all them out.
[00:50:46] You know, I still get the tables from Mary.
[00:50:48] Mary's been good to me for the last few years.
[00:50:50] Just bringing me to the table and the software.
[00:50:52] I have no issues.
[00:50:54] You know, she, she says she'll help run the charts.
[00:50:56] I had no issue with Mary.
[00:50:57] I like Mary.
[00:50:59] And, but I like for a way our tournament run.
[00:51:03] It finishes early.
[00:51:04] Sure.
[00:51:04] We don't have a lot of.
[00:51:05] Yeah.
[00:51:06] We don't have the numbers that the, the bigger events that would require, you know, that sort
[00:51:11] of format to stay on time and to have, you know, the viewers, you know, set times, things
[00:51:18] like that.
[00:51:19] I mean, we don't have those types of concerns.
[00:51:22] So.
[00:51:22] I mean, if we got 300 people, then we definitely need more than.
[00:51:26] Yeah.
[00:51:26] We'd have to read.
[00:51:27] We'd have to read everything.
[00:51:28] We got room for it.
[00:51:29] Yeah.
[00:51:29] We only get 20 tables a year from Mary, you know.
[00:51:32] 20 tables.
[00:51:32] Okay.
[00:51:34] That'll do what people we have between 100, 150 people comfortably.
[00:51:39] People still have some tables to play on.
[00:51:40] Mm-hmm.
[00:51:41] We run it and then run smooth.
[00:51:42] And I think Kristen Grogan's coming to help us with you this year.
[00:51:45] She likes hanging out with me and Michelle.
[00:51:47] She's the best.
[00:51:47] I think she does.
[00:51:48] Kristen is the best.
[00:51:49] I love Kristen.
[00:51:49] I love Kristen.
[00:51:50] Yep.
[00:51:50] I love Kristen.
[00:51:51] Yeah.
[00:51:52] You see, and to see that her career as a promoter, a person who goes and runs these tournaments,
[00:51:59] I mean, she's just fabulous.
[00:52:00] You can't ask her better than Kristen Grogan.
[00:52:03] Really, really great.
[00:52:04] She didn't come with last year.
[00:52:05] Was disappointed.
[00:52:06] She had some other issues.
[00:52:08] But this year, Michelle, she's coming.
[00:52:10] So she's going to come hang out with us.
[00:52:12] Cool.
[00:52:12] We tried to get her to play in some events.
[00:52:14] But sometimes that's difficult.
[00:52:15] She don't even want to play much.
[00:52:17] Right.
[00:52:18] Years ago, we got John here and our kids just fell in love with John Lee.
[00:52:22] And they just adored him.
[00:52:24] I love John.
[00:52:25] Yeah, John.
[00:52:26] Him and that loud-ass laugh, buddy.
[00:52:28] You're going to love it.
[00:52:29] Yeah.
[00:52:30] Yeah.
[00:52:31] John's a good dude, man.
[00:52:32] I love John.
[00:52:33] Yes, he is.
[00:52:35] I saw Kristen in Michigan.
[00:52:39] I know John's busy.
[00:52:42] I think he tries to attend Florida.
[00:52:44] He doesn't really play a whole lot anymore.
[00:52:46] But I love Kristen.
[00:52:48] Whenever we see, you know, again, anytime she comes out, it's great.
[00:52:51] Especially her, you know, her ability to run an event.
[00:52:53] So, it sounds like you guys, you got a good crew, 20 tables.
[00:52:58] The venues, the venue's amazing.
[00:53:02] Like I said, I've been there.
[00:53:03] I've stayed there.
[00:53:04] It's a really nice place.
[00:53:06] So, starting up Thursday with specialty events.
[00:53:09] And then, so, you're expecting 150 roughly.
[00:53:17] Any big names coming in that you know of?
[00:53:20] Maybe a little less.
[00:53:21] I know Philbrook's coming down.
[00:53:23] He's coming down.
[00:53:24] Yeah.
[00:53:24] Sean.
[00:53:25] Excellent.
[00:53:26] Yep.
[00:53:27] Brandon's coming.
[00:53:28] Brandon's coming.
[00:53:29] He's been coming the last three years.
[00:53:31] Yep.
[00:53:32] I don't really know of many other ones.
[00:53:36] You could probably ask her.
[00:53:37] She knows more than I do.
[00:53:38] I'm just, like I said, I'm behind the scenes.
[00:53:41] Are we masters?
[00:53:42] Is that what we were asking about?
[00:53:43] Just anybody that's coming in late.
[00:53:45] I mean, I thought we decided Lane was all you needed to know.
[00:53:50] There we go.
[00:53:52] What else is there?
[00:53:53] Top of the flyer.
[00:53:55] Yep.
[00:53:56] NC State featuring Lane Blundell.
[00:54:00] Well, Lane does sponsor a tournament each year for $100.
[00:54:04] He puts his name on our t-shirt and it says, Lane Daddy Blundell.
[00:54:08] Wow.
[00:54:09] Every year.
[00:54:10] Every year.
[00:54:11] Yes, every year we come up with a new design.
[00:54:14] He sponsors it for $100 or he makes a $100 wager?
[00:54:18] No, he sponsors it for $100.
[00:54:20] He's like, I'm going to sponsor the tables and stuff like that.
[00:54:24] And he goes, I said, what do you want on it?
[00:54:27] And he said, my name's fine.
[00:54:29] And just, are you going to talk about daddy?
[00:54:31] So Michelle said, I got daddy issues.
[00:54:34] So she put Lane Daddy Blundell.
[00:54:38] So yeah, it's funny.
[00:54:41] So every year I come up with a new design for the t-shirts.
[00:54:45] And each year we get sponsors who get to put their names on the back.
[00:54:51] Sometimes it's individuals.
[00:54:52] Sometimes it's companies.
[00:54:54] And, you know, I mean, we just try to have fun.
[00:54:59] I mean, we've had a new design every year for the last seven years.
[00:55:04] And now it's sort of like become a collector's piece for some of the players that come in.
[00:55:08] And they're like, I need my shirt right now.
[00:55:10] I've got, you know, all of these designs.
[00:55:12] And, you know, I need to keep my collection going.
[00:55:14] So it's kind of fun.
[00:55:15] And the good thing about it is that the design is not the same ever.
[00:55:18] She changes designs.
[00:55:19] So one year we did a COVID.
[00:55:22] Yeah.
[00:55:22] Then we had to actually have North Carolina State in Tennessee.
[00:55:25] We had to move the tournament to Tennessee.
[00:55:27] Because our governor was terrible.
[00:55:28] Yeah.
[00:55:29] So we moved to Tennessee.
[00:55:31] And she had these North Carolina State tournament with the men with COVID masks on.
[00:55:36] Yeah, it was pretty cool.
[00:55:37] No kidding.
[00:55:39] That's great.
[00:55:39] She redesigns the t-shirts every year.
[00:55:42] This year is pretty cool.
[00:55:43] And I'll tell you a little about it, but we're going to show it to you.
[00:55:45] It's a Western Carolina t-shirt.
[00:55:47] Yeah, it's in support of the mountains.
[00:55:49] Okay.
[00:55:50] It's pretty cool.
[00:55:51] Randy, I'll send you a picture.
[00:55:52] You send it to Tom.
[00:55:53] Yeah, yeah.
[00:55:53] We don't know about that.
[00:55:54] I'd love to see that.
[00:55:55] Yeah, for sure.
[00:55:56] We'll get off here.
[00:55:57] Michelle can probably do it right now.
[00:55:58] But we're pretty excited about the t-shirt.
[00:56:01] And they're just helping the community.
[00:56:03] And we also do the same with the design on the t-shirt matches the trophy design.
[00:56:10] So each year the trophies are a little bit different as well.
[00:56:13] And they match the t-shirts just about every year.
[00:56:15] We use the same logo on the t-shirts and the trophies.
[00:56:17] So it changes every year.
[00:56:19] I think that came from going back to tournaments in the day where you would get the golden lady with the star in her hand or whatever.
[00:56:29] The generic trophies over and over and over again.
[00:56:33] So when we started, we wanted to make them different.
[00:56:38] We wanted ours to stand out each year.
[00:56:40] One year we gave out championship rings for one event that we did.
[00:56:46] Cool.
[00:56:46] A specialty event.
[00:56:47] Yeah, sure.
[00:56:49] It was kind of like the team cup.
[00:56:51] You pick your team and how many points you get.
[00:56:53] You get one master, one pro, a couple of amateurs experts.
[00:56:58] And you add your points up.
[00:57:00] And I think Brian Jones won it two years in a row.
[00:57:02] Yeah.
[00:57:02] So, yeah, that boy's a beast.
[00:57:04] We had these championship rings we had made and they got them for the finals.
[00:57:10] And Brian, of course.
[00:57:12] So I'm looking at the schedule.
[00:57:14] Sunday, last event, the four by four bring your partner.
[00:57:17] Is that where you're talking about?
[00:57:18] The team event?
[00:57:20] Well, that's the one I heard.
[00:57:21] That is not.
[00:57:22] That is something different.
[00:57:23] We didn't do it the last two years.
[00:57:25] Yeah.
[00:57:25] A couple years ago.
[00:57:26] So what is the four by four?
[00:57:31] It's four players on the same team.
[00:57:34] Like a four on four.
[00:57:35] Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:57:36] Yeah.
[00:57:36] They do that in Texas State.
[00:57:38] Yeah, I thought maybe it was like something you did with a truck.
[00:57:41] Like four wheeler.
[00:57:43] No, but we did at our spring or our summer tournament.
[00:57:48] We have a summer tournament in Charlotte at Steamers.
[00:57:53] This year we did, what was it?
[00:57:54] Four on four, two, four V, four, two V, two Roto.
[00:58:00] Wow.
[00:58:02] You start out with two on two.
[00:58:05] Just like doubles.
[00:58:06] Okay.
[00:58:07] And then when you score, you rotate in.
[00:58:11] Two people.
[00:58:12] Two people.
[00:58:13] So that was four on four.
[00:58:15] Four on two.
[00:58:16] Four on two.
[00:58:16] Four on four.
[00:58:18] No, it was four on four.
[00:58:19] Each one got like this regular one on each handle.
[00:58:22] Then when you score again, you rotate the first two go out and the next two run up.
[00:58:27] Okay.
[00:58:27] That's pretty cool.
[00:58:28] That's wild.
[00:58:28] He's going, what the hell are you saying?
[00:58:30] No, no, no.
[00:58:31] See, I love stuff like that.
[00:58:33] I do.
[00:58:34] I wish there was more stuff like that.
[00:58:35] You just start out with doubles and then whoever scored, scored a point.
[00:58:40] Well, then you rotate in.
[00:58:41] And now it's four on four.
[00:58:43] So you rotate two people in.
[00:58:44] Two people in.
[00:58:45] The two just go straight from the rod to the front two rods and other ones come in.
[00:58:49] And if you score, whoever scores then, then you rotate the first two back out.
[00:58:53] Now they're sitting.
[00:58:54] The new doubles.
[00:58:55] You got a new doubles playing each other.
[00:58:57] Very cool.
[00:58:57] They just rotate around.
[00:58:58] It was pretty cool.
[00:58:59] That's a unique idea.
[00:59:01] Really unique.
[00:59:01] I had to come up with like the most confusing games that I possibly can is like last chance.
[00:59:06] I like it.
[00:59:09] And they get real competitive, which is surprising to me.
[00:59:12] Didn't we win last year?
[00:59:14] What did we win?
[00:59:15] The four on four.
[00:59:15] Yeah, we won the four on four.
[00:59:16] Yeah, me and Sean and I.
[00:59:18] Brandon.
[00:59:20] It was me and Jason and Sean and Brandon.
[00:59:22] It was three gringos and a taco.
[00:59:25] It was our team name.
[00:59:26] Our team name was three gringos and a taco.
[00:59:29] Oh, my God.
[00:59:29] Yeah.
[00:59:31] Brandon was like, what the heck?
[00:59:32] Shout out to Brandon.
[00:59:33] Brandon.
[00:59:35] He gets around.
[00:59:36] We got to say, you know.
[00:59:37] He's such a great player.
[00:59:40] Man.
[00:59:40] He can make the scene.
[00:59:42] Yeah, I love that little Mexican.
[00:59:45] He's my favorite.
[00:59:48] So, what?
[00:59:49] I love Brandon.
[00:59:50] So, the four by four, is there any limits?
[00:59:52] Or is it just any four players against any four players?
[00:59:54] Any four?
[00:59:55] It's a bring your partner.
[00:59:56] Cool.
[00:59:57] Let's go.
[00:59:58] Let's go.
[00:59:59] I love it.
[00:59:59] Line them up.
[01:00:00] Yeah.
[01:00:02] Blake, you know, we played a lot with Blake.
[01:00:04] And Blake likes to cheat.
[01:00:05] He'll change hands.
[01:00:06] Or he'll reach around sometimes.
[01:00:07] Once he has a few drinks.
[01:00:09] Blake will reach around.
[01:00:10] And, like, he's playing with both hands.
[01:00:11] And the other guy's just freaking standing there.
[01:00:13] I'm like, Blake, that's not how that goes.
[01:00:14] He goes, all right, I'm going to sub then.
[01:00:16] I'm going out.
[01:00:17] I'm going to sub in.
[01:00:18] Yeah.
[01:00:19] It's fun.
[01:00:20] He's like, yeah.
[01:00:21] But just put your hand right on top of mine.
[01:00:23] That's fun.
[01:00:23] Yeah.
[01:00:24] That's fun.
[01:00:24] You're not cheating.
[01:00:26] You're not trying.
[01:00:27] Right?
[01:00:27] So I get it.
[01:00:28] I get it.
[01:00:29] You've got to get creative, especially in something like that.
[01:00:31] Four on four.
[01:00:32] You've got to be creative.
[01:00:33] Well, they were very competitive events.
[01:00:35] Put your hand over mine.
[01:00:37] I love it.
[01:00:37] I love it.
[01:00:41] I'll get you there.
[01:00:42] I'll take you home.
[01:00:43] No problem.
[01:00:44] Yeah, let's go.
[01:00:45] No problem.
[01:00:45] Yeah, let's go.
[01:00:46] So for a home life with all those foosball tables.
[01:00:50] So I got to ask, you know, your daughters, are they into playing foosball?
[01:00:55] No.
[01:00:57] One that said she was going to play.
[01:00:59] And then she got a little older and got into boyfriends and stuff.
[01:01:04] And then she just blew it out of the water.
[01:01:05] Huh.
[01:01:06] It baffles me.
[01:01:07] They have such competitive parents.
[01:01:10] And they just are social butterflies.
[01:01:13] Like, they love foosball players.
[01:01:15] They love talking to them.
[01:01:17] But they don't play unless they have to.
[01:01:19] Like, our oldest daughter has been pulled into Mix probably more times than she can count
[01:01:23] just because, you know, she's a girl.
[01:01:26] Because she's there.
[01:01:26] Sure.
[01:01:27] She played with Lonnie last year.
[01:01:29] She played with Brandon in Pro-Am last year.
[01:01:34] Yeah.
[01:01:34] So they get pulled in randomly.
[01:01:38] Mm-hmm.
[01:01:38] Mm-hmm.
[01:01:39] But the other two won't even.
[01:01:41] No desire to play.
[01:01:41] The other two won't even touch the table.
[01:01:43] They're like, no, Dad.
[01:01:44] I ain't playing that crap.
[01:01:45] Yeah.
[01:01:46] Wow.
[01:01:46] I'm like, that sucks, dude.
[01:01:47] That sucks bad.
[01:01:48] That does.
[01:01:49] Jeez.
[01:01:50] But our 24-year-old, she gets, her 24-year-old gets the drug.
[01:01:53] She gets drug into it all the time.
[01:01:55] She was standing there about to bust out in tears.
[01:01:57] Like, because she's going to play with Brandon, the Pro-Master.
[01:01:59] Or she wanted to let nobody.
[01:02:01] The stress.
[01:02:01] The stress.
[01:02:02] No, she don't want to let nobody down.
[01:02:03] She can't.
[01:02:04] She don't like to lose either.
[01:02:05] Don't let her fool you.
[01:02:06] She don't like to lose.
[01:02:06] And she don't play.
[01:02:08] So, of course, she clears the ball good.
[01:02:10] Mm-hmm.
[01:02:11] Mm-hmm.
[01:02:11] But blocking.
[01:02:12] If you don't play, you don't know.
[01:02:14] But she'll clear the ball pretty good.
[01:02:16] She got a good bump off the wall out of the back.
[01:02:18] It's pretty cool.
[01:02:18] Would I be too forward if I asked you to adopt me?
[01:02:22] Would that be okay?
[01:02:24] Well, I've adopted more people.
[01:02:26] Because I'd like to live in your house.
[01:02:27] I want to live in your place.
[01:02:28] I mean, you know, just saying.
[01:02:30] Wow.
[01:02:31] So we have people stay here from Asheville when they come in.
[01:02:34] Chalk and them would parties on Saturday.
[01:02:35] They come in on Friday night.
[01:02:37] They'll stay Saturday and leave Sunday sometime.
[01:02:39] I think Chalk slept till 4 o'clock one afternoon on Sunday.
[01:02:42] Finally got up because it's like a cocoon down there.
[01:02:44] There's no windows in the basement.
[01:02:46] And I had a big old fan running.
[01:02:49] And I was like, dude, are you getting up?
[01:02:51] He goes, what time it was?
[01:02:52] It's like a club.
[01:02:53] Don't come up.
[01:02:54] He said, man, I slept so damn good.
[01:02:56] It was awesome.
[01:02:57] I love it.
[01:02:58] Yeah.
[01:02:59] Sounds great.
[01:03:00] We've got air mattress.
[01:03:01] We've got six couches, bro.
[01:03:03] Just come on over.
[01:03:04] There you go.
[01:03:05] Yeah.
[01:03:05] There you go.
[01:03:06] Yeah.
[01:03:06] We had like 50 some people here.
[01:03:08] I was walking around in like a nervous jerk.
[01:03:11] Like, we have something wrong.
[01:03:13] Something bad's going to happen.
[01:03:14] We have one tournament and it was right when it was pretty hot.
[01:03:18] I mean, probably 89, 90, not too bad.
[01:03:22] But these guys want to run in and out and I don't know how to shut the door.
[01:03:26] And I got the air turned down to like 66.
[01:03:29] So you go upstairs and you freaking freeze.
[01:03:32] Oh, boy.
[01:03:32] We're downstairs and it's 170 degrees.
[01:03:34] So I got, I work construction.
[01:03:36] I got these big industrial fans downstairs blowing.
[01:03:38] The door's wide open because they got to go smoke for cigarettes or whatever.
[01:03:42] I'm like, dude, don't you know how to shut the door?
[01:03:44] They're screaming in their car because they lost to a girl.
[01:03:47] Oh, yeah.
[01:03:48] Randy.
[01:03:52] During that tournament, I opened the doors and turned the fans on.
[01:03:57] And we had, it was like the second year we were here, we had this sheriff called on us.
[01:04:02] Really?
[01:04:03] Yeah.
[01:04:04] Because these boys were loud.
[01:04:07] Oh, the noise ordinance.
[01:04:09] So that was exactly what it was.
[01:04:12] So the sheriff shows up and I go, can I help you?
[01:04:15] And he said, well, we got a noise complaint.
[01:04:17] And I'm like, do you know it's like eight o'clock in the country?
[01:04:20] Are you kidding me?
[01:04:21] And he goes, well, it's not a big deal.
[01:04:24] It's not really loud.
[01:04:24] But I have to come out here because we were called.
[01:04:27] I said, you want to come in and play some?
[01:04:29] Yeah.
[01:04:29] Come on in.
[01:04:30] They're peeking in the door.
[01:04:32] I said, don't peek in.
[01:04:32] Come on in.
[01:04:33] It don't matter.
[01:04:34] And then he just said, y'all have a good night.
[01:04:36] We'll see you later.
[01:04:37] So I had to shut the windows.
[01:04:39] You know, it's just because it was loud in the, where we're at.
[01:04:41] Right, right, right.
[01:04:42] Well, we got this one guy across the street who's, um, and yeah, he's another kind of
[01:04:48] another type of guy.
[01:04:50] We hadn't never had another complaint, but we had 50 people here.
[01:04:53] Whoa.
[01:04:54] In my basement.
[01:04:55] And my wife is going hysterical.
[01:04:58] She's like, is it time for them to go yet?
[01:05:01] Yeah.
[01:05:02] Yeah.
[01:05:02] Listen.
[01:05:04] Man.
[01:05:04] 50 people is a lot.
[01:05:06] It is.
[01:05:07] Listen, I'm getting, I'm getting anxiety just thinking about it.
[01:05:10] If I got four people in my house, I'm like, what are you guys doing?
[01:05:15] So.
[01:05:15] Wait, you need, you need to go to the bathroom?
[01:05:17] Yeah.
[01:05:17] Come on.
[01:05:18] I'll stand outside the door.
[01:05:19] Come on.
[01:05:19] Yeah.
[01:05:21] Our house was like where we played locals for a while.
[01:05:25] Um, which is sort of what, what he's talking about.
[01:05:28] Um, but yeah, when, when COVID shut everything down, um, we, we played the house and we had
[01:05:35] people over.
[01:05:36] Um, so yeah, that, but that was, that was isolated one, one.
[01:05:42] He told too many people.
[01:05:44] We were having a tournament at the house and Saturday came about.
[01:05:47] And when we filled up the whole cul-de-sac, both driveways and the yard, I'm like, this,
[01:05:53] this place is shut down, bro.
[01:05:55] Put a caution light out there.
[01:05:57] Put some fence up.
[01:05:58] We're done.
[01:06:01] Oh, yeah.
[01:06:03] Well, let me know when the, when the house next door goes up for sale.
[01:06:06] Just let me know.
[01:06:08] Keep, keep me in mind.
[01:06:09] Tom, Tom, Tom's got to get out of New York.
[01:06:11] He does.
[01:06:13] We do it big down in the South.
[01:06:14] Come on.
[01:06:15] Yeah.
[01:06:15] Yeah.
[01:06:16] And I've got some friends who live in Raleigh.
[01:06:18] Um, there's a couple of folks I know that live in C-A-R-Y containment area for relocated
[01:06:24] Yankees.
[01:06:26] Cary.
[01:06:26] Cary.
[01:06:27] Yep.
[01:06:28] Cary is right there near Durham and Raleigh.
[01:06:30] Yep.
[01:06:30] Yep.
[01:06:31] So.
[01:06:32] Cary.
[01:06:32] Yep.
[01:06:33] C-A-R-Y.
[01:06:34] C-A-R-Y.
[01:06:35] C-A-R-Y.
[01:06:37] Containment area for relocated Yankees.
[01:06:39] It's, uh, it's, it's, it's a little easier for Cary.
[01:06:43] Cary, right?
[01:06:43] Yeah.
[01:06:44] Now, Cary, Cary and, uh, Durham, especially Raleigh, they're a little bougie over there.
[01:06:49] You can tell they brought the North down.
[01:06:51] Got the pinkies up.
[01:06:52] The pinkies up.
[01:06:53] Drink them.
[01:06:53] Yeah.
[01:06:54] State capital.
[01:06:55] Raleigh is the state capital.
[01:06:56] Raleigh is the state capital.
[01:06:58] I'm not fussy.
[01:06:58] I'll just move there.
[01:06:59] I don't care.
[01:07:00] Whatever.
[01:07:01] Let's go, Tom.
[01:07:02] Let's go, Tom.
[01:07:03] Let's go.
[01:07:13] Cary and tornado.
[01:07:14] Okay.
[01:07:14] Okay.
[01:07:15] Yeah.
[01:07:16] They just had the North Carolina state on Bonzini.
[01:07:18] That's right.
[01:07:20] That's right.
[01:07:20] Yeah.
[01:07:21] Do you know, um, do a lot of the folks there do, do you know what, uh, what kind of turnout
[01:07:25] they had for that?
[01:07:26] Yeah.
[01:07:27] Um, we went, uh, it was decent.
[01:07:29] It was a, it's pretty good turnout for the North Carolina state Bonzini.
[01:07:32] It was pretty good.
[01:07:33] Very cool.
[01:07:34] A lot of people come down from Virginia, Virginia beach.
[01:07:36] Yes.
[01:07:37] They came down to that.
[01:07:38] That's the scene, right?
[01:07:39] Virginia beach for Bonzini.
[01:07:40] That seems to be the place.
[01:07:42] Until they come down here and run into Cameron and, uh, Yates and Bruce.
[01:07:47] When they come in and run into Liam.
[01:07:48] Bruce Narducci.
[01:07:49] Yeah.
[01:07:50] Bruce.
[01:07:50] Bruce.
[01:07:50] Bruce is the man.
[01:07:51] Wow.
[01:07:52] That's my wife's boyfriend.
[01:07:55] Her and Jan fight over Bruce.
[01:07:58] Her and Jane fight over Bruce all the time.
[01:08:00] That's great.
[01:08:01] I told Jan, I was going to mention 37 times during this podcast.
[01:08:04] Um, so what are we at now?
[01:08:07] 36.
[01:08:08] 36.
[01:08:09] 36.
[01:08:10] Got to look at the stats here.
[01:08:12] Jan, Jan, Jan.
[01:08:13] Hey, Ron.
[01:08:14] Hey, Ron.
[01:08:15] Call Jan.
[01:08:17] Yeah.
[01:08:18] Bruce.
[01:08:18] We, we, uh, a couple of us on tour.
[01:08:20] We call Bruce.
[01:08:22] We have a nickname for Bruce.
[01:08:23] Yes.
[01:08:25] The FPS.
[01:08:27] The FPS?
[01:08:29] Yeah.
[01:08:29] The front pin stallion.
[01:08:31] Oh.
[01:08:31] Oh.
[01:08:32] Whoa.
[01:08:33] Serious.
[01:08:35] Nice.
[01:08:35] The front pin stallion.
[01:08:35] He would love that.
[01:08:36] Does he know that?
[01:08:37] Have you told him that?
[01:08:39] I don't think so.
[01:08:40] No.
[01:08:40] He's going to know now.
[01:08:42] Too late now.
[01:08:43] I'll let him know.
[01:08:45] I will let him know, Randy.
[01:08:46] The front, the front, the front pin stallion.
[01:08:48] Yes.
[01:08:49] Oh, Bruce.
[01:08:50] Talk about it.
[01:08:51] Talk about it.
[01:08:51] We should get some shirts made, Randy.
[01:08:53] And wear them.
[01:08:53] Yeah.
[01:08:53] There you go.
[01:08:54] T-shirts.
[01:08:55] Yeah.
[01:08:56] Hey, next, next year, North Carolina State.
[01:08:58] Yeah.
[01:08:59] Mm-hmm.
[01:08:59] Yeah.
[01:08:59] You got to get the, you got to get the shirts.
[01:09:01] Bruce.
[01:09:01] We have to give you the little commemorated by Randy Raposo.
[01:09:04] You know what I'm saying?
[01:09:05] No, dude.
[01:09:06] He's been wearing those Clarks.
[01:09:07] Those Clarks are like 40 years old.
[01:09:09] Those things have like 400,000 miles on them.
[01:09:11] He hasn't resold, I think.
[01:09:12] I think he hasn't resold.
[01:09:14] Yeah.
[01:09:15] That's probably his, that's probably his.
[01:09:17] Oh.
[01:09:19] No.
[01:09:19] That's probably my.
[01:09:20] Yeah.
[01:09:21] Bruce is a good dude.
[01:09:22] I remember like my, I think my first Worlds in like 03, I saw him wearing those Clarks,
[01:09:27] those shoes, sitting Indian style.
[01:09:30] In a chair or a stool.
[01:09:32] And you know, he is like hyper analyzing whatever match it is.
[01:09:36] Everything.
[01:09:37] Okay.
[01:09:38] He's got statistics in his brain.
[01:09:40] Like, I think he's like whiteboarded out as he watches it.
[01:09:43] Yeah.
[01:09:44] Crazy.
[01:09:45] Oh, yeah.
[01:09:45] He's come up to me and he's just like, hey, look at this, this.
[01:09:48] I'm like, okay.
[01:09:51] And then it's just, I'm like, okay, thanks, Bruce.
[01:09:53] Appreciate it.
[01:09:54] Yeah.
[01:09:54] He's just sitting there Indian style.
[01:09:56] Just like.
[01:09:58] Like Yoda on the stool.
[01:10:00] Just not saying a word.
[01:10:04] Like he's brooding or something.
[01:10:06] Yeah.
[01:10:07] Thanks, Bruce.
[01:10:08] I've seen pictures from 10, 15 years ago in the bleachers 20 years ago.
[01:10:14] Him looking exact same.
[01:10:16] That's amazing.
[01:10:17] Hasn't changed.
[01:10:17] In the bleachers watching a match.
[01:10:20] I mean, I'm like.
[01:10:20] And he is low key hilarious.
[01:10:22] Did you guys know that?
[01:10:23] He's good.
[01:10:24] He is hilarious.
[01:10:25] Dry humor.
[01:10:26] He was reffing one of Jason's matches one year at North Carolina State.
[01:10:31] And, and this match had become kind of contentious, you know, back and forth as, as it happens,
[01:10:37] you know, before you get a ref, things have become a little, a little spicy on the table.
[01:10:42] And I was not playing, but I had interjected myself into the match somehow by, you know, my obnoxious cheering.
[01:10:53] And so Bruce turns around after a ball and says, don't make me call a penalty on you.
[01:11:00] And I'm like, what?
[01:11:01] Dude, I'm in this day.
[01:11:03] Right.
[01:11:04] It was, it was not hand justice, but to me, it was like, he looked at her and went to him up.
[01:11:10] Ooh.
[01:11:11] He didn't quite do it, but he did the head drop and the side.
[01:11:21] Don't make me call a penalty on you.
[01:11:23] That's good.
[01:11:23] Yeah.
[01:11:24] Who are you playing, Jason?
[01:11:25] Were you playing, were you playing Michelle's partner?
[01:11:28] Is that who you were playing?
[01:11:29] I was cheering for him that time.
[01:11:31] Yeah, I know, but I'm saying that guy.
[01:11:34] You were playing Nate.
[01:11:36] Oh, yeah.
[01:11:37] Oh, yeah.
[01:11:37] Yeah.
[01:11:38] Nate Thomas.
[01:11:39] He was playing Nate Thomas.
[01:11:40] Oh, Nate.
[01:11:42] Wow.
[01:11:42] I'm too many years.
[01:11:44] And I think he was playing with his dad, wasn't he?
[01:11:47] He was playing with Marvin.
[01:11:48] With Marvin.
[01:11:49] But somehow Marvin said something and Nate, and I was like, listen, bro, this is a game.
[01:11:56] And then I went to hell off, you know.
[01:11:59] I'm always quiet and happy.
[01:12:00] And I was like, I'm going to listen to this.
[01:12:02] And then Michelle, she started her stuff.
[01:12:04] So it was a, it was all of them.
[01:12:08] Because I think I had beaten Nate earlier in the weekend and seen this.
[01:12:11] You should stop talking.
[01:12:13] We should.
[01:12:14] No, no, no, no.
[01:12:15] No, no, no.
[01:12:18] Wait, how long, how long ago was this?
[01:12:20] I haven't seen Nathan in years.
[01:12:22] How long ago was this?
[01:12:22] It's been a while.
[01:12:23] It was before he moved to Russia.
[01:12:25] Yeah, it was before he moved to Russia.
[01:12:27] But Nate will send me a message every now and then.
[01:12:30] He says, we're his step parents.
[01:12:33] Because we always look it out for him and stuff.
[01:12:35] Yeah.
[01:12:36] Yeah.
[01:12:36] For some reason, he'll send me a message on Facebook and I'll talk to him.
[01:12:39] And I talked to Anne a year ago.
[01:12:43] And Thomas, I sent her a message on Facebook.
[01:12:46] Her and Marvin doing okay?
[01:12:49] As far as I know.
[01:12:50] Last I heard, yeah.
[01:12:51] Yeah, they're doing pretty good.
[01:12:52] Yeah, but they haven't seen him out in forever.
[01:12:54] They used to play all the time.
[01:12:56] When they lived in New Hampshire, I mean, I'd see them weekly.
[01:12:58] And I haven't seen them in years.
[01:13:01] So.
[01:13:02] Yeah, and Thomas was like two or three years ago and said, you know, I'm going to be near
[01:13:07] your house.
[01:13:08] Do you think we could get some people together?
[01:13:10] And we had a girls' foosball night.
[01:13:13] We had like six or seven females playing.
[01:13:16] She was here.
[01:13:16] It was the last time I talked to her.
[01:13:18] Yeah.
[01:13:19] Yeah.
[01:13:19] Last time I saw her was at a, in North Carolina State, but that was years ago.
[01:13:24] Yeah.
[01:13:25] Yeah.
[01:13:26] Yeah.
[01:13:26] We got, we got second in a expert mix.
[01:13:29] We lost to Jan Ellis and, and Maynard there.
[01:13:34] Jesse Maynard, they double dipped us, unfortunately.
[01:13:40] Yeah.
[01:13:40] It was a good time.
[01:13:42] It was a good time.
[01:13:43] I enjoyed it thoroughly.
[01:13:45] I enjoyed thoroughly being double dipped.
[01:13:48] I don't believe that.
[01:13:51] He went to his truck and he screamed.
[01:13:54] Just saying.
[01:13:55] Just saying.
[01:13:57] Is he screaming into his truck?
[01:13:58] It was a good time.
[01:13:59] It was, it was, it was a good time.
[01:14:01] I had fun.
[01:14:01] I had a lot of fun.
[01:14:02] It was a good tournament.
[01:14:03] So anyway, I've been learning a lot for years, learning, just losing and learning.
[01:14:10] It's good.
[01:14:11] Yeah.
[01:14:12] It's gross.
[01:14:13] Anyway, I feel the same way, buddy.
[01:14:16] Yeah.
[01:14:17] So anyway, tournaments come up in two weeks.
[01:14:21] You guys, you got anything you want to throw out before we, before we wrap up or.
[01:14:27] Yeah.
[01:14:27] Oh, just bring toys or cash.
[01:14:29] You know.
[01:14:29] Toys and cash.
[01:14:30] That's my, that's what I'm pushing.
[01:14:32] I mean, the foosball is going to be there either way.
[01:14:34] But we really would like to, to get as much up for the, for the community.
[01:14:38] For the kids as we can.
[01:14:39] Not for anything else.
[01:14:40] Then we just do a little more.
[01:14:42] We can't go up there and volunteer from her school.
[01:14:45] Sure.
[01:14:45] And my health's been down for the last year.
[01:14:48] So I, I couldn't find nothing to do.
[01:14:50] So I just wanted to give back to the community, do something I can do.
[01:14:53] Right.
[01:14:53] I can organize like crazy.
[01:14:55] I can get some money.
[01:14:56] I can click.
[01:14:57] Yeah.
[01:14:57] I can point and click.
[01:14:59] I mean.
[01:15:00] So yeah, we're just, we're, we're, tournament's going to be there.
[01:15:03] Hopefully everybody shows up, have fun.
[01:15:05] Like I said, we filled our block.
[01:15:06] So maybe next year, Randy, we'll get you up there.
[01:15:10] Yeah.
[01:15:10] We'll get you down South down here.
[01:15:12] Yeah.
[01:15:13] No, it's, it's a, I would have done it.
[01:15:14] We're a short year round, buddy.
[01:15:16] So.
[01:15:16] I would have done it this year.
[01:15:18] It's the same weekend we do our smash down.
[01:15:21] Saturday in New York state.
[01:15:23] So it's a kind of a tradition for us as well.
[01:15:26] That Thanksgiving weekend.
[01:15:27] And oddly enough, it's, it's our biggest turnout of the year, typically out of four,
[01:15:31] out of four tournaments.
[01:15:32] So sadly, I'd, otherwise I'd be there in a heartbeat.
[01:15:36] Well, we'll just get you to move down here.
[01:15:38] There you go.
[01:15:40] I wear shorts year round.
[01:15:41] I ain't got to worry about that weather.
[01:15:42] You're talking about.
[01:15:45] I just, uh, I was, uh,
[01:15:47] communicating with Don Wilson, who's, you know, uh, in the deep South and, and I described
[01:15:52] for him off air last week during the, the Mary Moore con, uh, con conversation.
[01:15:58] And I said, Don, you know, uh, you really need to come up here and, uh, upstate New York
[01:16:02] and, and witness, you know, real snow.
[01:16:04] He goes, what do you mean real snow?
[01:16:05] I said, well, you know, it's, it's not uncommon for us to, uh, you know, 10, 12, 14, 16 inches.
[01:16:12] And he's like, what?
[01:16:13] I mean, he couldn't, he actually thought I was just, you know, just kidding.
[01:16:16] So today I sent him a few, uh, uh, pictures that I had taken of our driveway after, um,
[01:16:22] after, uh, 18 inches of snow.
[01:16:24] And, and he just went, why do you stay there?
[01:16:30] What are you, what are you doing there?
[01:16:32] I talked to Donald, uh, two days ago.
[01:16:35] We talked for about an hour.
[01:16:36] He's great.
[01:16:37] He says he's coming.
[01:16:38] His wife gave him permission to come two years ago.
[01:16:41] And he keeps him hauling around.
[01:16:43] He was like, I don't know if I'm coming.
[01:16:45] I'm a wife.
[01:16:46] And I'm like, no, your wife didn't give me personally permission for you to come.
[01:16:49] So we'll see you, buddy.
[01:16:51] That's how we operate, right?
[01:16:52] We bully you until you show up.
[01:16:55] That's perfect.
[01:16:56] That's the only way to operate.
[01:16:57] That's perfect.
[01:16:58] What are you talking about?
[01:16:59] That's why Randy's got Foosmas penciled in.
[01:17:02] That's what it is.
[01:17:02] We're bullied in.
[01:17:04] That's perfect.
[01:17:05] That's the only way to function.
[01:17:07] Yeah.
[01:17:07] And this, uh, this next year in 2025, you got a world foosball tour.
[01:17:12] I know there's, uh, there's going to be a lot of, um, I know I just read about it
[01:17:16] the other day.
[01:17:16] They're going to do like a, like a league system for a world foosball tour.
[01:17:20] So when you get out and play locally, you get a chance to, uh, accumulate points and
[01:17:24] things like this, which I think is going to be a great change.
[01:17:27] Will you guys be a part of the world foosball tour as well?
[01:17:31] And we have it right.
[01:17:33] Personally, I haven't read on it.
[01:17:34] I don't know.
[01:17:34] Yeah.
[01:17:35] I know Ryan's going like four big events maybe next year.
[01:17:39] But I did find out from a couple of people and Mary, I talked to Mary, he's still going
[01:17:43] to facilitate other promoters like me and Michelle to do our tournament.
[01:17:47] So he's still going to facilitate that.
[01:17:49] So yeah, I'm looking forward to like Randy said earlier, see what Ryan's going to do,
[01:17:53] you know, something different.
[01:17:54] I think the whole foosball community is like, I mean, it is sort of time for a change
[01:17:58] and, and, you know, I love how Ryan has the ability to, to bring up fresh, you know, look
[01:18:05] at things.
[01:18:06] Um, I think it'll be good.
[01:18:08] I really do.
[01:18:08] So I can't say whether or not we're going to do it or not.
[01:18:10] Cause I, I would be talking about something.
[01:18:12] I have no clue.
[01:18:13] Gotcha.
[01:18:13] We haven't talked to him.
[01:18:15] We haven't talked to him.
[01:18:15] I haven't read what you just obviously are talking about.
[01:18:18] So it's news to me what you're saying right now.
[01:18:19] Sure.
[01:18:20] No, it's a, he's got a, a series of phases.
[01:18:23] Phase one is to take care of the pros and the pro masters.
[01:18:27] Uh, phase two is to take care of the, the players that, that go to tournaments who are,
[01:18:32] are never going to make it to pro pro master, but go there because they want to play foosball
[01:18:35] because they love it.
[01:18:36] And he's going to take care of those folks in a second phase.
[01:18:39] And then a third phase is increasing the, the, the, the, shall we say the public awareness
[01:18:46] of foosball in general, just getting, getting the word out.
[01:18:49] Oh, that, that reminds me, I forgot to ask you guys, uh, what kind of,
[01:18:52] of, um, streaming or coverage are you going to have for the, for NC state?
[01:18:58] Um, we usually do like a live stream for table one.
[01:19:02] Um, it's just like, uh, someone here that will stream it.
[01:19:06] Um, but I would, but I have talked to Miriam, um, in passing about possibly using inside foos,
[01:19:13] but it was kind of late in the game.
[01:19:15] So I'm not a hundred percent sure if we're going to get that set up this year or not.
[01:19:19] Right.
[01:19:19] And if it's not, if you don't, then we've got a buddy, uh, Chris Duffy or Ed Willis or
[01:19:24] someone like that.
[01:19:25] They'll stream it for us.
[01:19:26] Um, they are, they do the local tournaments in Raleigh.
[01:19:30] Them two do, um, them two, them two stream in Raleigh.
[01:19:34] So we'll see if we can get them.
[01:19:36] We're going, we're going to have something stream and at least table one.
[01:19:38] So, uh, Facebook live or maybe, uh, Twitch TV, something like that.
[01:19:43] Yeah, probably Facebook.
[01:19:44] Oh, nice.
[01:19:45] That's what we usually do.
[01:19:46] That's what we usually do.
[01:19:47] Awesome.
[01:19:47] Very cool.
[01:19:48] Looking forward to it.
[01:19:49] Uh, gotta say you guys, um, you're, you're a blast.
[01:19:53] It's so much fun talking to you guys.
[01:19:54] You really are.
[01:19:55] You're a lot of fun.
[01:19:55] Oh yeah.
[01:19:56] Oh yeah.
[01:19:57] Dude, hang out with them in person.
[01:19:58] It's way better.
[01:20:00] Way better.
[01:20:01] Way better.
[01:20:01] I'm a little reserved right now.
[01:20:03] Let's complain to each other.
[01:20:05] I'm a little reserved right now.
[01:20:06] I'm just going to kick me on a tight leash.
[01:20:08] But when I'm around Sean and Randy, you know, I'm a little, uh, I don't know when to shut
[01:20:13] up.
[01:20:15] Nah, it's a good time.
[01:20:16] We have fun.
[01:20:17] Yeah.
[01:20:19] Well, he does.
[01:20:20] He does.
[01:20:20] He, he, he does.
[01:20:22] We have fun.
[01:20:25] We're going to, we're going to have you back.
[01:20:26] We definitely have to have you back.
[01:20:27] We want to get a, of course, an update as to how the tournament went, but we definitely
[01:20:31] have to have you back.
[01:20:32] The door is wide open for you guys.
[01:20:33] Sure.
[01:20:33] Hey Tom.
[01:20:34] So.
[01:20:35] Tom, it was very nice meeting you, sir.
[01:20:37] Nice to meet you.
[01:20:37] Randy.
[01:20:38] As always, buddy.
[01:20:39] Yeah.
[01:20:41] Always a pleasure.
[01:20:42] Thank you so much for coming on.
[01:20:43] You and your lovely wife.
[01:20:44] You guys know if you need anything, just give me a call.
[01:20:47] Yeah.
[01:20:48] Yes, sir.
[01:20:49] We're always down for getting the word out.
[01:20:51] Don't forget.
[01:20:52] You're going to NC State.
[01:20:54] Bring the toys, bring the cash, bring whatever you can, but, but help them out.
[01:20:57] Cause they definitely could use it for sure.
[01:20:59] Yeah.
[01:20:59] Yeah.
[01:21:00] Hit them up on Facebook.
[01:21:01] Hit them up on Facebook.

[01:21:08] Support the event, support the cause.
[01:21:11] Please.
[01:21:12] Yep.
[01:21:12] Thank you.
[01:21:13] Yep.
[01:21:13] Let's go.
