[00:02:02] Welcome back.
[00:02:03] It's hard to believe, but it's the first episode of 2025.
[00:02:08] Last weekend, we said goodbye to 2024 with Ryan Moore talking all about what's going to be happening with the World Foosball Tour.
[00:02:15] We had a great time and a record number of downloads or a record number of views on Twitch TV.
[00:02:22] So thank you so much for tuning in for that.
[00:02:24] Hey, tonight is going to be equally as fun.
[00:02:26] I will say that first of all.
[00:02:28] And initially, of course, I've always got to let you know that it's fun to talk about foosball,
[00:02:32] but it's even more fun when you've got somebody who loves to talk about foosball with you, which would be Randy Raposo.
[00:02:38] Hello, Randy.
[00:02:39] No, you're shaking your head no?
[00:02:40] No?
[00:02:41] Hey, Tom.
[00:02:42] What's up?
[00:02:43] Hey, nothing.
[00:02:44] How are you?
[00:02:44] Hey, you know, we're back at it.
[00:02:47] And this is the first of 2025.
[00:02:50] We're going to make it a good one.
[00:02:52] And I think you probably know why.
[00:02:55] Yeah, we got some fun guests on tonight.
[00:02:58] Quick shout out.
[00:02:59] Yeah.
[00:03:00] I want to shout out Sherry Rue.
[00:03:02] I think that's Terry's mom.
[00:03:03] But I see she's in the chat every week.
[00:03:05] She's watching every week.
[00:03:07] Nice.
[00:03:07] Thank you.
[00:03:08] Thank you, Miss Sherry.
[00:03:09] We do appreciate that.
[00:03:09] All our listeners and viewers.
[00:03:11] But I see her at the tournaments, and she's always there, a sweet lady.
[00:03:14] But she's pretty dedicated to the podcast.
[00:03:19] So thank you.
[00:03:20] Appreciate it.
[00:03:20] Yeah, it's always great to see people coming back week after week and just hanging out and chatting it up.
[00:03:26] It's, you know, Twitch TV is such an interesting element.
[00:03:30] And I never really thought about doing this visually, especially back when we first started Foos Talk Live.
[00:03:35] But one of our guests tonight kind of talked me into it.
[00:03:38] So let's not waste any time.
[00:03:41] Let's get right to the meat of the matter here.
[00:03:44] Welcoming back to Foos Talk Live.
[00:03:46] And, of course, now these guys got their own gig, man.
[00:03:49] They're hanging with a thing called, what is it called?
[00:03:51] Modern Foosball.
[00:03:53] No.
[00:03:54] Yeah?
[00:03:55] Yeah?
[00:03:56] No.
[00:03:56] What is it?
[00:03:57] No ball.
[00:03:57] No ball.
[00:03:59] Modern Foos.
[00:04:00] Modern Foos?
[00:04:01] Tom, they have no balls.
[00:04:03] No balls.
[00:04:04] Zero.
[00:04:05] We have the meat and we have the matter.
[00:04:07] Enough with the balls.
[00:04:08] No balls.
[00:04:08] Enough with the balls.
[00:04:13] That's where we're starting.
[00:04:15] Right off on the right foot.
[00:04:16] Let's go.
[00:04:16] And they're off.
[00:04:18] So Clay Toomey and Adam Gilson are back for 2025.
[00:04:23] Guys, welcome.
[00:04:24] Last time we talked, man, we were hanging out.
[00:04:26] What was it?
[00:04:26] Michigan State, I think.
[00:04:29] October.
[00:04:29] Great Lakes Classic, yeah.
[00:04:30] Yeah.
[00:04:31] Dang.
[00:04:32] Hello, Adam.
[00:04:33] What's up, dude?
[00:04:35] Nothing.
[00:04:36] I'm just here thinking about modern Foos.
[00:04:39] Foos.
[00:04:39] Modern Foos.
[00:04:41] Modern Foos.
[00:04:42] Yeah.
[00:04:42] And just, yeah, happy 2025.
[00:04:45] Good to see you all.
[00:04:45] Yeah.
[00:04:46] It's been, it's nice just for those who don't know, like, you know, we used to do a lot of Foos Talk Live and stuff, and I'm just hanging out.
[00:04:53] I've got my set up here.
[00:04:54] This is, my camera is set on my bed, and I'm just, I'm flashing back to a lot of good memories.
[00:04:59] Had a lot of good chats on this bed.
[00:05:01] Yeah.
[00:05:02] The back of flash.
[00:05:03] I really appreciate that, of course.
[00:05:05] The back of flash.
[00:05:06] Yes.
[00:05:07] So, we, you know, when we got together in Michigan, we got a little cut off because there was a ceremony happening there.
[00:05:14] I think they called it the Hall of Fame ceremony.
[00:05:16] So, we kind of had to cut for the short.
[00:05:17] We left the ball.
[00:05:18] Yeah, kind of.
[00:05:19] You know, so it's probably a good idea to kind of pick up where we left off.
[00:05:23] But more importantly tonight, we've got to talk about you guys coming up in 2025 here.
[00:05:27] There's a lot happening.
[00:05:29] We're going to start off with, first of all, with Modern Foos and your tour schedule.
[00:05:37] Let's talk about that.
[00:05:38] Adam, Clay, whichever one of you guys want to take that one?
[00:05:44] You, me, rock, paper, scissors, core.
[00:05:46] I win.
[00:05:48] Since I'm the meat, am I the meat and you're the matter, or is it the other way around?
[00:05:52] I think I'm the balls.
[00:05:54] Okay.
[00:05:55] All right.
[00:05:55] Oh, he's the missing balls.
[00:05:57] That's what it is.
[00:05:58] Gotcha.
[00:05:58] No, I'm here.
[00:06:00] Back to you, Clay.
[00:06:01] Back to me, Clay.
[00:06:04] We have a half a dozen tournaments that were already confirmed for, probably at least a few hundred more than that, that were not confirmed for, I guess.
[00:06:14] Nice.
[00:06:14] We're going to be at TKO, first of all.
[00:06:16] We will be doing TKO.
[00:06:17] We've got a bunch of messages asking if we're going to be there.
[00:06:20] The answer is yes.
[00:06:21] We're going to be doing all the majors this year, actually.
[00:06:25] Sweet.
[00:06:26] So TKO, Vegas, Nationals, Worlds.
[00:06:30] And it's actually been, in a moment of seriousness, I'll put the silliness to the side for a moment.
[00:06:36] It's been a lot of fun talking with Ryan and working out some of the details of what the media coverage is going to look like for the new world foosball tour.
[00:06:45] He's pumped.
[00:06:46] And it is, I'm excited.
[00:06:49] I always say this, I'm a fan of foosball first.
[00:06:52] I love foosball.
[00:06:53] And I'm really, as a fan of foosball, I'm super stoked for what's coming this year and hopefully for years to come.
[00:07:00] And then I'm also, you know, on this specific side of things, I'm excited to do my part, whatever that may be.
[00:07:07] So we'll definitely be at TKO and then more after that.
[00:07:11] We've got some non-world foosball tour tournaments that we're doing as well.
[00:07:14] Of course, Moneyball.
[00:07:15] Uh-huh.
[00:07:16] We're also doing Florida State.
[00:07:18] Yeah.
[00:07:19] And so, yeah.
[00:07:21] Yeah, Moneyball is your home turf, basically, right?
[00:07:23] That's kind of like where you guys hang.
[00:07:26] Yeah, the birthplace, the hot, MF.
[00:07:30] Yeah.
[00:07:30] The homeland?
[00:07:31] What do they call it?
[00:07:32] Not the homeland, but what do you say?
[00:07:35] What do you call the default origin?
[00:07:38] Your base.
[00:07:40] The motherland?
[00:07:40] Our home base?
[00:07:41] Your base.
[00:07:41] The motherland.
[00:07:42] We'll workshop that.
[00:07:43] Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:07:45] Wait, now, Florida State, if you go to the, excuse me, the WFT website, Florida State's on there.
[00:07:51] Are they not a WFT event?
[00:07:54] So there are, and I don't want to speak for Ryan here, and maybe somebody in the chat can make sure I don't mess this up,
[00:07:59] but essentially there are four majors that are the World Foosball Tour tournaments.
[00:08:03] There's TKO, Vegas, Nationals, and Worlds.
[00:08:05] And then there are other tournaments that are regionally or, yeah, regionally promoted that the WFT helps to promote.
[00:08:16] So, for example, literally anything besides the other four I just mentioned.
[00:08:21] I just had a brain fart.
[00:08:22] Florida State.
[00:08:23] So, Wisconsin, Minnesota.
[00:08:26] Wisconsin, yeah.
[00:08:26] All those.
[00:08:27] Illinois.
[00:08:27] Those are all on there.
[00:08:28] Yeah, yeah.
[00:08:29] So they'll be, I believe they'll be supported by World Foosball Tour, but they are not, they're more like contracted tournaments, I suppose.
[00:08:36] Got it.
[00:08:37] Got it.
[00:08:37] Probably a fancier way to describe that, but that's, you know, that's how I describe it.
[00:08:40] So are you available for parties, bar mitzvahs, and smokings?
[00:08:46] Potties?
[00:08:46] Like porta-potties?
[00:08:47] Parties.
[00:08:48] Yeah.
[00:08:48] You know, partay.
[00:08:50] Partay.
[00:08:50] Oh, partay.
[00:08:51] I am available for anything that I don't have to pay to get to.
[00:08:55] And if that's, if you want to, if you want to have a, except for Canada, I'm not allowed in Canada or Australia.
[00:09:00] It's a different story.
[00:09:02] They, they don't let me go there.
[00:09:04] But anywhere that if I can show up and not lose money, I'm there.
[00:09:08] Nice.
[00:09:08] Partless.
[00:09:09] And that's just, that's just me.
[00:09:10] I don't speak for modern foods as a whole, but I would.
[00:09:16] But you would, given the right circumstances.
[00:09:20] Adam, it's been so long, man.
[00:09:22] And you're just sitting there.
[00:09:23] What's, what's going on?
[00:09:24] What's in your mind?
[00:09:25] I need to know.
[00:09:26] What's going on?
[00:09:26] No.
[00:09:27] Don't say it.
[00:09:29] What's going on?
[00:09:30] I, I don't know.
[00:09:31] I'm just, it's, I'm reminiscing.
[00:09:33] I'm having fun.
[00:09:34] I'm talking to some of my favorite people here in foosball.
[00:09:37] Lies.
[00:09:38] And it's, it's just nice.
[00:09:40] Are you, are you sad because there's no IPA of the week?
[00:09:42] Is that, is that the problem?
[00:09:44] That's all I've been thinking about this entire time.
[00:09:46] I thought so.
[00:09:47] And I've been thinking about, I've been thinking about the weather.
[00:09:53] What?
[00:09:54] What have you been eating?
[00:09:55] You've been eating good?
[00:09:55] What am I eating?
[00:09:56] Yeah.
[00:09:57] You've been eating good?
[00:09:59] I always eat good.
[00:10:00] I, yeah, I, I, I eat very well.
[00:10:03] But you know, I think, I think.
[00:10:04] How well is that?
[00:10:06] Here's the thing.
[00:10:06] So my son is, is eight years old now.
[00:10:09] Okay.
[00:10:10] And he always wants to be doing like stuff with me, like cooking and stuff like that.
[00:10:13] And it is not always working out well.
[00:10:16] And I, I'm, I'm like really, like, I'm really crazy in the kitchen.
[00:10:19] Like I have certain ways I want to do stuff.
[00:10:21] But he's starting to get to the point now where he's like, you know, he doesn't throw a sack of sugar everywhere and stuff like that.
[00:10:26] Nice.
[00:10:26] It's been a lot of fun.
[00:10:27] Yeah.
[00:10:27] So we've been hanging out.
[00:10:29] But, but to answer your, your, your larger question, you know, what am I thinking?
[00:10:32] I'm just running through my mind all the different things that's going to be happening with foosball this year and the years going forward.
[00:10:39] And especially from the, from the media aspect.
[00:10:42] And how even now what's happening with, with the, what, the six tournaments we did last year.
[00:10:50] I, I think I need to do a shout out.
[00:10:52] I think I need to say this so people understand this.
[00:10:55] Right.
[00:10:56] When we're at tournaments, Modern Foos is five people.
[00:10:59] It's myself.
[00:10:59] It's Clay Toomey.
[00:11:00] It's David Kala, Danilo Fatale, Lukasz Koproski.
[00:11:03] I hope I said that right if you're out there.
[00:11:05] And when we're at these tournaments, when we're at these tournaments, everybody's playing their role.
[00:11:09] Everybody does the thing that they do.
[00:11:10] Right.
[00:11:11] But when we're not at these tournaments, the thing that's happening, the, the main, the main facet that's, that you're all interacting with out there is the social medias of foosball radio or foosball, of modern foos.
[00:11:22] Right.
[00:11:22] And they're looking at the Instagram and they're looking at the shorts on, on YouTube and they're looking at the reels on Facebook.
[00:11:28] And those are reaching millions of people, of non-foosters.
[00:11:32] I can guarantee you as a person who's been following foosball for a long time and knows a lot about it right now through modern foos, the reach of foosball is far beyond it that it's ever been.
[00:11:42] And it's just only growing how that plays out and what that does in the next couple of years.
[00:11:47] I don't know.
[00:11:48] But I know it can only be positive, but I will say one thing.
[00:11:51] And when we're not at these tournaments and in the, in between and you see those things happening, I got to give it up to my man, wherever, what direction he is.
[00:11:58] Clay Toomey is the one that's doing all that and putting that stuff up there and scheduling and editing it and making it look good every single day.
[00:12:05] Clay.
[00:12:05] And it is awesome.
[00:12:07] So I just got to give you like, like props, dude.
[00:12:09] It's badass that you're doing that and it's badass that it's getting out there and it's badass that you're out there playing foosball and you're loving it.
[00:12:15] And you want to know what it is that's going on out there and why people are seeing it is that guy, Clay.
[00:12:22] I love it.
[00:12:23] I love the shorts.
[00:12:25] I mean, yeah, the wall past store.
[00:12:28] Incredible.
[00:12:29] The like the Ryan short, the brand, the pro master scoring on themselves now.
[00:12:34] That's I saw that today.
[00:12:35] Yeah.
[00:12:36] But I know.
[00:12:38] So the Sam, I've been following the Sam and Sully video.
[00:12:41] That's that like 1.7.
[00:12:43] Yeah, that's been huge.
[00:12:44] Yeah.
[00:12:45] It's rolling up on 2 million here.
[00:12:47] Pretty soon.
[00:12:48] Yeah.
[00:12:49] I mean, every day it's a video drop and I'm watching.
[00:12:52] I'm waiting now for a video a day.
[00:12:54] And I mean, you guys are killing it.
[00:12:56] So.
[00:12:56] And again, though, and I have to just add, I'm going to just keep adding on to this, Clay.
[00:13:00] Sorry for the pylon, but you look at the comments.
[00:13:02] I appreciate it.
[00:13:02] No, keep going.
[00:13:03] I ain't saying anything.
[00:13:04] You look at the, look at the comments in that, in that, that 1.7 million views.
[00:13:10] Look at the comments.
[00:13:10] They're so freaking positive with thousands of likes and everybody's stoked.
[00:13:13] They've never seen it.
[00:13:14] They've never seen anything like that.
[00:13:15] But, but I think what's important to note and what goes on behind the scenes and is constantly being watched by Clay is community building.
[00:13:23] Like that kind of stuff doesn't just happen.
[00:13:25] If you, if you rub a lot of honey on a wall, a bunch of bears and bees and shit are going to show up.
[00:13:31] The only way you're going to get the best bears and the best bees to show up is to shoosh the ones away that are like jerks.
[00:13:37] Right?
[00:13:38] And that's what Clay is constantly doing.
[00:13:39] The negative bears.
[00:13:40] He's constantly just.
[00:13:41] Yeah, he's just shooshing away.
[00:13:43] Yeah.
[00:13:45] He's just shooshing away bears and jerks.
[00:13:48] You're a negative bear.
[00:13:49] Get away.
[00:13:49] Jerks and bees.
[00:13:50] Yeah.
[00:13:50] So more, more, more kudos to him for that.
[00:13:53] Cause that's that kind of stuff would drive me in.
[00:13:56] I see, I see him responding.
[00:13:58] I see him responding in the comments.
[00:13:59] I enjoy it.
[00:14:00] Yeah.
[00:14:01] Yeah.
[00:14:01] I get a kick out of it.
[00:14:03] I genuinely enjoy it.
[00:14:04] If they're being silly, I'll be silly back.
[00:14:06] Or if they have a question, I don't mind answering it.
[00:14:08] And then, but the, the, the, unfortunately the bulk of the work there is actually just deleting things.
[00:14:12] There's there on that video.
[00:14:14] There's probably a thousand comments.
[00:14:16] I mean, literally, I don't know.
[00:14:17] I could probably look it up and find the actual answer, but there's probably a thousand good comments.
[00:14:21] And yeah, there, that there were probably at least, yeah, there's 1047 comments on that video.
[00:14:28] There would be three, not for deleting all the trash.
[00:14:31] Wow.
[00:14:31] Which is so much.
[00:14:32] Truly great.
[00:14:33] YouTube is a cesspool of nonsense.
[00:14:35] Yeah.
[00:14:36] Yeah.
[00:14:36] No, there's no point to engage somebody who shows up.
[00:14:38] Oh, men of culture.
[00:14:39] We meet again.
[00:14:40] Actually, you're getting deleted.
[00:14:41] I don't even, I don't, I don't just hide them from the channel.
[00:14:44] They are shadow banned.
[00:14:45] And I have no shame and no guilt for doing that.
[00:14:48] Go learn how to be an adult somewhere else and then come back when you're ready.
[00:14:52] Yep.
[00:14:52] Is shadow banned that, that, that, that magical thing that happens when you just start shouting
[00:14:55] in a room by yourself, but think that everybody's still there?
[00:14:58] Yes.
[00:14:58] Shadow ban is like, it's my favorite metal band and you can't see anybody because the lights
[00:15:02] are out.
[00:15:03] Oh.
[00:15:04] No, actually.
[00:15:05] So what shadow ban really is, is I, is I click a button that hides you from the channel.
[00:15:08] You don't know that nobody can see you.
[00:15:11] So it, it.
[00:15:12] Okay.
[00:15:14] Back in 1974, my dad invented foosball.
[00:15:17] My dad invented foosball.
[00:15:19] And that's before Rollover came along and fucked it up.
[00:15:22] Nobody knows.
[00:15:23] Nobody hears you.
[00:15:24] Nobody hears what you're saying.
[00:15:25] Oh my God.
[00:15:26] They've been banished.
[00:15:27] Everybody has ear, ear plugs and, and whatever.
[00:15:31] Blinders.
[00:15:31] They're, you exist on your own.
[00:15:33] What a hellish fate for those people.
[00:15:35] It's beautiful.
[00:15:36] I wish all social media outlets had that.
[00:15:38] Yeah.
[00:15:39] YouTube has it.
[00:15:39] Facebook does not have it.
[00:15:40] You just have to block them, but then they know they get blocked.
[00:15:42] So they make another account and Hey, my grandpa invented Facebook or whatever.
[00:15:46] You know?
[00:15:49] Too many, uh, too many references to grandpa here.
[00:15:52] Um, by the way, speaking of comments, uh, Goodwin's a 6,700 on Twitch TV tonight says
[00:15:57] clay and Adam are bringing more to the game as far as trying to get spectators involved.
[00:16:02] They are a great team and work off each other.
[00:16:05] Well, so where's the chemistry come from guys?
[00:16:07] What is this?
[00:16:08] Something is this something that's been around since what?
[00:16:10] I don't know.
[00:16:11] COVID.
[00:16:11] It's, it's the same thing.
[00:16:13] Uh, for me, it precedes COVID by a few lifetimes.
[00:16:16] It's the same thing, Tom, when, when, when, when I used to hang out on this show every
[00:16:20] week and you've heard me say this a million times, the tree house style of doing things.
[00:16:25] It's just fun to be a part of.
[00:16:27] And so that's really all we do.
[00:16:28] We don't try to be like, you know, the best commentators ever exist.
[00:16:32] We just, I want to make it fun for me and I want to make it help it be fun for Adam.
[00:16:36] But then also anybody who's watching, like I want, if you don't know about foosball,
[00:16:40] I want to help you know about foosball.
[00:16:41] If you do know about foosball, I want you to enjoy it.
[00:16:44] And I'm not trying to impress anybody.
[00:16:46] I just, I just genuinely as a step one, primarily, I love foosball and I want to make it an enjoyable
[00:16:52] experience for as many people who decide to show up.
[00:16:55] And if they, if they don't like it, there's a, there's go somewhere else, frankly.
[00:17:00] And I'm here to have fun and to help it be fun for the masses.
[00:17:03] Yeah.
[00:17:04] I think, and to add to that, you already said it, but I mean, to add to that is that we're
[00:17:07] fans first and first and foremost, we're fans.
[00:17:10] And I always say this at our tournaments, like when I, when I talk about the thing that
[00:17:13] I regret most whenever we do tournaments is that I didn't get to watch it.
[00:17:17] You know what I mean?
[00:17:18] Like I'm there doing it and talking about it.
[00:17:21] We're doing the thing.
[00:17:21] But I also, as a fan, like to, to get that vibe going, right?
[00:17:25] Like, you know, what, what would you, what would you be doing?
[00:17:27] And I've heard this lots of times.
[00:17:28] Like, you know, if you're just chilling in your living room, talking to some buddies,
[00:17:32] watching some foos streaming on, on, on TV or whatever you're practicing, whatever,
[00:17:35] what would that sound like?
[00:17:36] And I think that's, I think that's it.
[00:17:38] I think that's kind of what we do.
[00:17:39] So, and I like it.
[00:17:41] You're in a lot of foos rooms out there, by the way.
[00:17:43] It's when you guys are doing your, your live cast, people are in their, their basements,
[00:17:47] they're in their foos rooms, whatever they're doing.
[00:17:49] They've got you on the big screen TV, you know, watching the coverage.
[00:17:53] That's what's happening.
[00:17:54] It's a...
[00:17:54] I got in a jail cell one time.
[00:17:56] That's a long story, but I was in the, in a day room.
[00:18:00] Really?
[00:18:00] I don't know.
[00:18:01] I didn't really think about that one too much before I said it, but it'll be funny when
[00:18:03] I do think about it.
[00:18:04] Yeah.
[00:18:05] Yeah.
[00:18:06] Back to you, Randy.
[00:18:06] Yeah.
[00:18:07] You let us know.
[00:18:08] No.
[00:18:09] And the thing is the insight that you guys provide.
[00:18:11] So, you know, I don't want to, I mean, I don't care if you mentioned, I don't know if you
[00:18:15] mind that I mentioned inside foos, but you know, Jim Stevens was always very direct in
[00:18:20] the way he broadcasted foosball, but it was never, he never talked about specifics player,
[00:18:26] player plays, decisions, things they did.
[00:18:28] And you guys bring a lot of insight to specific things that are happening on the table.
[00:18:33] And I think as a player and a fan, I appreciate that.
[00:18:36] Like seeing it happen in time and, you know, Clay calls stuff out before it happens.
[00:18:42] And it's actually pretty cool to see, but I think you guys just bring a totally different
[00:18:47] dynamic to, to what we're seeing.
[00:18:49] And it's definitely taking it.
[00:18:51] And I feel like foosball is just moving in a great direction as a whole.
[00:18:56] I'm totally just to speak to what you said.
[00:18:58] I don't, I don't run from the mentions of inside foos or Jim.
[00:19:02] That's how I got interested in foosball.
[00:19:04] When I wanted to learn, I've spent the money to buy the whole library.
[00:19:07] And I still encourage people to do that.
[00:19:09] Find a way it's harder to buy now.
[00:19:11] And there's more red tape.
[00:19:12] And I have a lot of opinions on the current state of inside foos, which I'll spare you
[00:19:16] from today.
[00:19:17] But I, I, Jim Stevens does something that nobody else has done.
[00:19:21] And frankly, probably something nobody else can do.
[00:19:24] And I, that's how, that's actually where I got started was doing stats for Jim.
[00:19:28] I saw, I saw a thing that I wanted to add to the foosball coverage.
[00:19:32] And I was like, Hey man, can I, what do you think about this?
[00:19:34] And that's some of the most fun I've ever had watching foosball was providing him with
[00:19:40] more information to talk about.
[00:19:42] I, I, I think there's a place for that style of coverage.
[00:19:45] It's just, you know, some people like ketchup, some people like mustard and you know, I'm
[00:19:49] over here eating ketchup.
[00:19:50] That's how I look at it.
[00:19:51] Let's, let's talk about the technical stuff you guys are up to, because first of all, your
[00:19:56] coverage, you know, you know, your chemistry as, as commentators, fantastic.
[00:20:02] I heard that.
[00:20:03] Coverage.
[00:20:03] I heard that.
[00:20:04] Coverage as commentators.
[00:20:05] Let me go back and start the sentence again.
[00:20:08] Coverage as commentators.
[00:20:10] Great stuff.
[00:20:11] No, no, no, no.
[00:20:11] It was a different word.
[00:20:13] Coistry.
[00:20:16] I'm sorry about that.
[00:20:17] That is just, I, that's my prefuged best sense of humor.
[00:20:21] Yes.
[00:20:22] So, okay.
[00:20:23] Take it from the top.
[00:20:29] Take five.
[00:20:30] Take five.
[00:20:31] So, your coverage.
[00:20:32] That's a bad idea.
[00:20:33] Take five.
[00:20:33] As commentators, stellar.
[00:20:35] Okay.
[00:20:36] The technology behind what you do though.
[00:20:38] The visuals of what we see.
[00:20:40] Now, we get to see instant replay.
[00:20:44] Yeah.
[00:20:45] That, when did, when did that start?
[00:20:47] When did that come in?
[00:20:49] So, there's a couple ways to answer that.
[00:20:51] First of all, the broad, the OBS is open broadcasting software.
[00:20:55] It's the thing that everybody streams from.
[00:20:57] You're using it right now.
[00:20:58] Yes.
[00:20:58] Most streamers, 10-year-old kids on Twitch streaming Fortnite with OBS is a very simple thing that's been around for a long time.
[00:21:05] Instant replay is not a big thing.
[00:21:07] It's just, it just really hadn't been implemented until recently because people didn't really ask for it until recently.
[00:21:14] And so, we, there's a couple different ways to do it.
[00:21:18] First of all, the ideal way, in my opinion, is the way that Foosball TV does it.
[00:21:22] They have bigger hardware.
[00:21:24] The board that they use, they do instant replay on board and they can do replay from every angle.
[00:21:29] Piece of gear that they use costs like three or four grand.
[00:21:32] We don't have that.
[00:21:32] We have a lower version.
[00:21:34] So, our replays are done in OBS on the software side.
[00:21:37] Oh, okay.
[00:21:37] And it would not exist without Danilo Fattel having done all the coding to make it all work.
[00:21:44] That guy is an idea.
[00:21:48] If you give, hey, Dan, I want this thing, it happens.
[00:21:51] It just happens.
[00:21:53] And so, that's what happened with replay.
[00:21:54] We're like, dude, sometime this year, this was a conversation a year ago.
[00:21:58] Sometime this year, let's try to implement replay.
[00:22:00] And he just made it happen.
[00:22:01] And if he were here, he could tell you all the hows and the whys.
[00:22:04] I understand a bit of the hows and the whys.
[00:22:07] But essentially, it's all done in the software.
[00:22:10] And it's what people want, especially in the live streaming aspect.
[00:22:14] In the edit, I can edit anything and throw in replays.
[00:22:17] And they don't know if it's live or edited.
[00:22:19] It's just the flow of it.
[00:22:20] But in the live streaming, it's really nice to be able to hit a button and show people.
[00:22:25] Again, it's catering to the people who might not have ever seen foosball before.
[00:22:29] That's exactly right.
[00:22:30] If you watch foosball, like, for example, Ryan shooting the John Wayne.
[00:22:35] You know the sound.
[00:22:36] You know the motion.
[00:22:36] And even though you don't physically see what happens with the ball because it's so fast,
[00:22:41] you just know, or a slingshot.
[00:22:42] You just know what happened.
[00:22:43] But if you remember the first time you saw that, you're like, what the hell?
[00:22:46] What is this?
[00:22:47] Yeah.
[00:22:47] And that's the person that we're catering to with the replays.
[00:22:50] So, you know, Wally Rollover or Uncle Papa.
[00:22:53] Oh, you should have known his name.
[00:22:54] Wally Rollover.
[00:22:55] Shut up.
[00:22:56] We're talking to the new.
[00:22:57] That's Adam told me that, by the way.
[00:22:59] But yeah.
[00:23:00] You put out a slingshot video the other day.
[00:23:03] Sullivan shooting a slingshot.
[00:23:05] It was a short.
[00:23:06] And I heard Clay go, I didn't see it, but I heard it.
[00:23:09] Was that a slingshot?
[00:23:10] Yeah.
[00:23:11] And it's just one of those things.
[00:23:13] Like you said, you just hear it and you know.
[00:23:15] But so I've actually been back there with you guys and seen your board.
[00:23:18] So you're telling me that the foosball thing, their board is bigger than your board?
[00:23:24] Yeah.
[00:23:24] So we have like the Camry version.
[00:23:29] They have the Lexus version.
[00:23:31] So it is the same company and it's the same chassis and all that stuff.
[00:23:38] But it has just a few more bells and whistles.
[00:23:40] And maybe in a couple of years we'll spend a few grand and buy that.
[00:23:43] It's not practical nor is it necessary to have it now.
[00:23:46] Right.
[00:23:46] But it's why if you watch their – and I love the way they do the replays.
[00:23:51] I like the way it looks, I should say.
[00:23:52] I don't like it every single goal.
[00:23:54] I don't like it every time something happens.
[00:23:56] And I don't care what the players look like either while the ball is in play.
[00:23:58] So that's all preference.
[00:24:00] It's not a right or wrong thing.
[00:24:01] But they have different hardware.
[00:24:02] So they're doing it on the hardware side and we're doing it on the software side.
[00:24:06] When it comes to choosing a different camera, and how many cameras are you using currently on, let's say, the pit table?
[00:24:13] How many cameras are in action at the moment?
[00:24:16] Dude, I like that question.
[00:24:18] I don't know how often people ask that.
[00:24:20] Thanks for asking.
[00:24:21] Can I guess?
[00:24:21] Go for it.
[00:24:22] Go for it.
[00:24:23] 12 cameras.
[00:24:24] 12 cameras.
[00:24:24] 12.
[00:24:25] Close.
[00:24:25] I'm going to say 10.
[00:24:27] Closer.
[00:24:28] Closer.
[00:24:30] $1.
[00:24:32] Hey!
[00:24:33] Survey says nine.
[00:24:36] It's actually eight cameras.
[00:24:38] You're there.
[00:24:38] You should know that.
[00:24:40] We have an eight-channel switcher.
[00:24:42] So we have space for eight cameras and we use all eight.
[00:24:44] We have the traditional view.
[00:24:45] The main view that you've always seen for decades was the whole table.
[00:24:50] That's camera one.
[00:24:51] We have the five-bar cam, which sits directly above the table.
[00:24:55] Sorry, it's more two-dimensional, but it sees the whole table that way.
[00:24:58] That's number two.
[00:24:59] We have close-ups for yellow and black, and that's just how I describe that.
[00:25:04] I don't know why I said it with colors, but you get the idea.
[00:25:06] Close-ups for both sides of the three-bar.
[00:25:08] So that's three and four.
[00:25:09] We have five and six is the team cameras.
[00:25:13] So the team on the left is five.
[00:25:15] The team on the right is six.
[00:25:16] And then seven is that C-level camera where you're, like, at the scoring beads
[00:25:21] and you kind of see the booth in the background and the two teams at the same time.
[00:25:25] That's number seven.
[00:25:26] And then camera eight is back there in the booth with us.
[00:25:29] That's typically the setup.
[00:25:30] It won't actually be the setup at TKO.
[00:25:32] We're doing things a little bit different because Ryan just dropped a very pretty penny
[00:25:37] on a new truss that we're going to be setting up with.
[00:25:40] Ooh!
[00:25:40] And he didn't talk about it last week, so I won't spill all the beans this week.
[00:25:43] It is good.
[00:25:44] It is sexy.
[00:25:45] Can I say that?
[00:25:45] It is sexy.
[00:25:47] It is sexy.
[00:25:48] Like, A-Y-Y-Y-Y-Y.
[00:25:50] It's sexy.
[00:25:51] It's mother of a...
[00:25:52] Shut your mouth.
[00:25:53] And so we're going to do some things a little bit different on the cameras,
[00:25:56] but we will have the traditional view.
[00:25:58] We will have the team views, and we'll have some floating stuff going on with the crowd
[00:26:02] and all that stuff, too.
[00:26:03] So lots of camera work.
[00:26:05] Yeah.
[00:26:05] Nice.
[00:26:06] So eight cameras.
[00:26:07] Eight cameras.
[00:26:08] Nice.
[00:26:08] Nice.
[00:26:09] Now, do you have like a specific pattern of cameras you like to use most often or certain
[00:26:15] cameras that, I don't know, that kind of, eh, once in a while we'll toss this one in?
[00:26:19] Eh, a little bit of this.
[00:26:21] I mean, what's your philosophy on that?
[00:26:24] My, so it is my left hand doing all the camera switches, so I'll let my left hand speak
[00:26:29] here.
[00:26:29] So as you might notice, I don't get a chance to talk very much.
[00:26:35] Anyways.
[00:26:38] I don't know.
[00:26:41] Most of the action is, we'll just try to follow the ball as much, the ball that's not in our
[00:26:45] name, we try to follow as much as possible.
[00:26:48] So the traditional view where it's the whole table and a little bit of the players is where
[00:26:52] the camera, is where the focus is for most of it.
[00:26:55] But, and then sometimes if there's a, if, if I, so I feel like I have a very good feel
[00:27:01] or an intuition, however you want to describe it, of what might happen on the three bars.
[00:27:05] So if I know a player is going to set up or do a certain shot and I want a closeup, I'll
[00:27:09] get there, you know, a few seconds before, give the eyes time to adjust and you see the
[00:27:13] closeup.
[00:27:14] Or sometimes, you know, Tony is one of the most fun five bars to watch.
[00:27:19] A lot of his matches, I try to do that five bar cam when it's on his five bar.
[00:27:24] And if I, if there's a lot of, if there's a lot of emotion or reaction, or if the players
[00:27:30] for whatever reason are just more fun to watch in any particular match, we'll go to the team
[00:27:35] cameras, you know, as needed.
[00:27:36] But if the ball's in play, that traditional view is going to see most of it.
[00:27:40] And then otherwise you just try to follow the action with, with whatever camera seems
[00:27:44] best in the moment.
[00:27:47] Yeah, it's, it's a, it makes the difference because we're, we're, we're talking about
[00:27:52] content obviously for, for, for, for the audience, but it's also an image that, that a lot of professional
[00:28:00] sports strive to achieve.
[00:28:01] When you're, when you're watching anything, whether it be, you know, TV or streaming, you
[00:28:06] got to feel like you're, you're a part of the action.
[00:28:08] And, uh, you guys are succeeding in that regard, especially with this, this, uh, this, this
[00:28:12] idea of the many cameras and of course the, the different reactions.
[00:28:16] Um, what do you want to change?
[00:28:18] Can I tell on myself real quick?
[00:28:19] I don't actually care what people might want to see.
[00:28:22] I just look at what I want to see.
[00:28:23] Okay.
[00:28:24] And then I just trust that that's what's most normal.
[00:28:27] And so sometimes I'm wrong.
[00:28:29] That's how to do it.
[00:28:29] No, that's how to do it though.
[00:28:30] Yeah.
[00:28:31] That's how to do it.
[00:28:31] There's a lot of thought in what do they want instead of, I like, I like peanut butter and jelly.
[00:28:37] If you're hungry, I'm making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.
[00:28:41] As simple as that.
[00:28:42] If you're not hungry or if you don't like peanut butter and jelly, go next door.
[00:28:46] Can I, can I get toast at least?
[00:28:47] I mean, maybe.
[00:28:49] Are you bringing a toaster?
[00:28:50] Bring a toaster and we'll both have toast.
[00:28:52] Sourdough?
[00:28:53] Yeah.
[00:28:54] Nah, now you're asking for too much.
[00:28:55] I think there's a good life lesson there though.
[00:28:58] Um, and it's mostly two middle fingers.
[00:29:00] Yeah.
[00:29:01] No, it is.
[00:29:02] It is because, no, but, but like I, I, I've lived a life trying to be a people pleaser.
[00:29:07] Right.
[00:29:08] And when I met Clay, um, that philosophy, he's not being a dick.
[00:29:12] He's not being rude.
[00:29:14] He's just being honest with himself.
[00:29:15] And I think there's something to be said when you're doing that in any kind of component in your life.
[00:29:19] Right.
[00:29:20] Anything you're doing.
[00:29:21] If you're, if you, if you go chase, like say social media, we're all here doing social media stuff, whatever.
[00:29:25] Right.
[00:29:25] If you go chasing likes, yeah, you're never going to get it.
[00:29:29] Yeah.
[00:29:29] You're never.
[00:29:29] I had somebody ask me, I actually said, I won't say who that is.
[00:29:34] Say it.
[00:29:35] No, I forgot their name.
[00:29:36] No, make them, make it up.
[00:29:37] Just pick somebody you don't like.
[00:29:39] Give us some.
[00:29:39] Who?
[00:29:40] Hooker?
[00:29:41] Give me a second.
[00:29:42] Okay, sorry.
[00:29:43] Nick.
[00:29:44] So Nick asked me what, what, if I, if I'd known, if I'd known that the, um, the, the, the Sam's, uh, um, Sullivan match,
[00:29:55] would go viral.
[00:29:57] Like, would I change my commentary?
[00:29:59] I was like, absolutely not.
[00:30:01] Why would you?
[00:30:02] I would never, never, never think.
[00:30:03] Why would you A and B, again, you can't go chasing likes.
[00:30:06] If you're trying to build something like this around here, it's the opposite.
[00:30:10] I mean, go all the way back to what we talked about at the very beginning of this, right?
[00:30:13] We're just two dudes hanging out in the living room watching foosball talking.
[00:30:17] Yeah.
[00:30:18] Right.
[00:30:18] If you're trying to get, if you're trying to get a bunch of people looking through your windows,
[00:30:21] staring at you with whatever you do on the couch with your friend.
[00:30:27] Nobody wants to see that, Adam.
[00:30:29] Nobody wants to see that.
[00:30:30] No.
[00:30:30] Not going there.
[00:30:32] Mm-mm.
[00:30:34] I have, I have, uh, blackout shades.
[00:30:41] Is that what we're calling them now?
[00:30:44] Wow.
[00:30:45] I'm just, anyway.
[00:30:47] There you go.
[00:30:47] Yeah, there you go.
[00:30:48] Don't change this up.
[00:30:49] I literally have.
[00:30:52] Clay's in outer space today.
[00:30:54] Yeah.
[00:30:54] Yeah.
[00:30:55] Yeah.
[00:30:56] Yeah.
[00:30:56] But I do think that's a nugget there and something worth, worth contemplating.
[00:31:00] And I think it also translates to foosball somehow.
[00:31:02] Uh, when you're talking about your game and not trying to invoke or evoke the mannerisms
[00:31:08] you see of masters just because you see it work for them.
[00:31:11] That ain't you?
[00:31:12] Yeah.
[00:31:12] Yeah.
[00:31:12] Yeah.
[00:31:12] Yeah.
[00:31:12] I think we could, we could probably reel off a couple, few people that kind of do that,
[00:31:17] that mimicry, it's not the same thing as doing, you know, being who you are when you play foosball.
[00:31:22] And that's, that's a tough one.
[00:31:24] Cause I, I know that I fall into that trap back when I was playing, by the way, 20 years
[00:31:28] ago, I won my first open, or no, my first, my first pro title at a, at a major.
[00:31:35] And, um, that has me all kinds of nostalgic this year.
[00:31:38] Yeah.
[00:31:39] In Vegas in 2025.
[00:31:40] 20 years.
[00:31:40] And, and, and yeah.
[00:31:43] And, and my point is, is that like, I think about that back then.
[00:31:46] And I think about, I was trying to emulate very much.
[00:31:49] So in my early twenties, I was trying to emulate Trevor Park and I was trying to play like him.
[00:31:53] I couldn't play like him.
[00:31:54] If, if I like climbed inside of his body, you know, good luck.
[00:32:00] Yeah.
[00:32:02] Sounds like a dare Harry.
[00:32:04] A dare Harry.
[00:32:05] Okay.
[00:32:06] A dare Harry.
[00:32:08] Stick your hand, stick your hand up there and work them like a puppet.
[00:32:12] There you go.
[00:32:14] I don't know if that's how it works.
[00:32:15] Hey guys, it's been fun.
[00:32:17] Yeah.
[00:32:17] Yeah.
[00:32:18] Sorry.
[00:32:18] Yeah.
[00:32:19] Anyway.
[00:32:19] So you were saying.
[00:32:21] Yeah.
[00:32:24] I'm reeling off good points here is my point.
[00:32:26] Yeah.
[00:32:27] Remember emus.
[00:32:29] Emus.
[00:32:29] Yeah.
[00:32:30] Emus.
[00:32:31] Emus.
[00:32:31] Yeah.
[00:32:32] Yeah.
[00:32:32] The ultimate.
[00:32:33] Yeah.
[00:32:33] They were the, they were the big and the next big, that was the Bitcoin of the nineties
[00:32:37] was buy an emu egg.
[00:32:39] Really?
[00:32:40] I don't remember that.
[00:32:41] Emu.
[00:32:41] You're going to have to do some legwork.
[00:32:43] I.
[00:32:43] Yeah.
[00:32:44] Connection there.
[00:32:45] Right.
[00:32:46] Emulate.
[00:32:47] Emulate.
[00:32:48] Emu.
[00:32:49] Late.
[00:32:50] Yeah.
[00:32:51] Yeah.
[00:32:51] Emo.
[00:32:53] Now, emo Phillips.
[00:32:54] Now that I know.
[00:32:55] That I know.
[00:32:56] But.
[00:32:56] I don't think that's what he's talking about.
[00:32:58] I know it's not.
[00:32:59] I'm just glad we got off that topic.
[00:33:03] Okay.
[00:33:04] Successfully.
[00:33:05] I don't know.
[00:33:05] Yeah.
[00:33:06] Well.
[00:33:07] Yeah.
[00:33:08] Well, I, so I think, I think that's one of the main things.
[00:33:12] So, you know, Mary did it for a long time.
[00:33:14] She just ran it and this is what it is.
[00:33:16] And I think that's one of the cool things about Ryan.
[00:33:18] Ryan's just putting out the product, but Ryan's a, and again, not saying anything negative
[00:33:23] about Mary.
[00:33:24] Ryan's a visionary.
[00:33:25] Ryan's a businessman.
[00:33:27] You know, like you said at the top of the show, Clay, you're excited, dude.
[00:33:30] I'm so pumped for what's coming.
[00:33:32] I feel like, I feel like this could be huge.
[00:33:34] Yeah.
[00:33:35] And, you know, obviously you guys being a big part of it with what you're doing.
[00:33:42] So kickoffs four weeks away, not even.
[00:33:46] What are you guys doing to ramp up for the kickoff?
[00:33:50] Oh, so many mushrooms.
[00:33:52] So many.
[00:33:54] Yeah.
[00:33:54] I know where that comes from, by the way.
[00:33:57] It comes from, but it's.
[00:34:00] There, right there.
[00:34:01] There you are.
[00:34:02] Is that what that is?
[00:34:03] So many mushrooms.
[00:34:04] Those are mushrooms.
[00:34:05] Um, so I've talked with Ryan a bit about the new truss that he's ordered, the, what the
[00:34:11] pit is going to look like.
[00:34:12] I do like that he detailed, um, the description and not calling it the pits plural anymore,
[00:34:18] but calling it the pit.
[00:34:19] And the way that that's going to be set up is going to be so cool, uh, to be there.
[00:34:24] It's also going to look cool on screen.
[00:34:26] And there's really not a whole, frankly, there's just not a whole lot of planning.
[00:34:30] All our preparation and planning is in the past, just getting ready to do our thing.
[00:34:33] And so now we show up, there's a few details that'll be different.
[00:34:37] A few different cameras, a few different wires, whatever.
[00:34:40] But the idea is we're still going to show up and be modern foods.
[00:34:44] Adam, I thought you were going to jump in there.
[00:34:46] Sorry.
[00:34:46] I burped, but I was going to.
[00:34:47] Yeah.
[00:34:48] I was going to just say, I'm not interrupting.
[00:34:49] Am I?
[00:34:50] No.
[00:34:50] Yeah, but go ahead.
[00:34:51] I practice, I practice, um, the patter a lot.
[00:34:54] The introduction.
[00:34:55] All righty, folks.
[00:34:57] 2025, because I tell you one of the worst things is when you, when you say the wrong
[00:35:00] tournament, I try not to do it.
[00:35:01] I'm pretty good at it, but sometimes like it's just a lot of talking and talking for
[00:35:06] four or five days, six days, so much talking, but that's not, that's, that's fun.
[00:35:11] And I love it.
[00:35:11] I love interacting.
[00:35:12] We talked about that, right?
[00:35:13] I love like breaking apart people's games and thinking about that.
[00:35:17] But, um, how do you, how do you keep all that straight though?
[00:35:20] Because there, there's going to be players that come out, uh, that are, let's say,
[00:35:24] kicking ass in, in expert, uh, maybe the expert finals or the pro finals that maybe you guys
[00:35:29] don't know enough about.
[00:35:30] What do you do then?
[00:35:30] What, how do you, how do you handle situations like that?
[00:35:33] I've watched, I know, I say this jackass has been kicking everybody's tail and amateurs.
[00:35:39] That's not what I say.
[00:35:41] Most of the time you do though, if they've been playing, if you watch foosball, if you're
[00:35:43] a fan of foosball, you know, I mean, it's, you know who they are.
[00:35:46] Yeah.
[00:35:46] Yeah.
[00:35:46] Unless they come from another country in which case.
[00:35:48] Right.
[00:35:49] Whatever.
[00:35:50] Yeah.
[00:35:50] Cuss them out.
[00:35:51] Just a bracket, like kind of, kind of, kind of like a bracket nerd, right?
[00:35:55] You just keep an eye on the brackets.
[00:35:57] Yeah.
[00:36:08] You know, amateur unlimited in Florida.
[00:36:11] No, he's not Billy Pappas.
[00:36:12] He just won a tournament where no good players were allowed.
[00:36:14] Like I, I just know all, it's not a disrespectful thing to say.
[00:36:17] It's just, I just watched, I love foosball, man.
[00:36:19] I've watched a lot of foosball.
[00:36:20] That's me.
[00:36:20] I can't speak for Adam.
[00:36:22] But to finish my point, the biggest problem that I have with these tournaments is when
[00:36:26] I get, it's still, outside of just being interesting and talking all the time, you still
[00:36:31] have to talk to people.
[00:36:33] People still come up to you and tell you about their day or their tournament or whatever,
[00:36:36] and you're still making small talk, and you know, that's, that's, that's half the fun
[00:36:38] is going to these tournaments and chatting.
[00:36:40] But to be, I wish that I had that kind of ability to just be like, just walk through
[00:36:46] a room and just like pretend I'm not there.
[00:36:48] I try to do that.
[00:36:49] I try to make those kinds of exits.
[00:36:50] But you know, I go to these tournaments.
[00:36:52] I want to talk to people.
[00:36:53] I want to hear, you know, how the day is going.
[00:36:54] So it's, it's that balancing act when you're there for, God, it's just, you know, it's
[00:36:59] a, oh, a marathon, not a sprint.
[00:37:03] Yeah.
[00:37:04] Well, it's, it's like your gig.
[00:37:06] So when you're not in your gig, you're not in the booth and you can be, be Adam Gilson.
[00:37:12] Right?
[00:37:13] Just, just hanging.
[00:37:14] Yep.
[00:37:14] Having a good time.
[00:37:15] That's the trick.
[00:37:16] If you're, if you're considering, if anybody listening who's considering any kind of coverage,
[00:37:20] literally just be yourself, your authentic, actual, who you are self and don't play a
[00:37:24] character.
[00:37:24] I tell my kid this, like beat my son's name is Phoenix.
[00:37:27] Like I don't want a character.
[00:37:28] I want Phoenix.
[00:37:29] Where's Phoenix?
[00:37:30] Show me Phoenix.
[00:37:31] I love Phoenix.
[00:37:32] You're awesome.
[00:37:33] But be that.
[00:37:34] So that, to me, that is what, especially in the Twitch universe, like streaming, that's,
[00:37:40] that's how people watch now.
[00:37:41] This is not, we're not Joe Buck and yeah, Joe Buck makes millions doing what he does.
[00:37:46] So no hate there.
[00:37:47] But at the end of the day, people want authenticity.
[00:37:51] They want to connect with a human.
[00:37:53] They want to know they can approach you and say, what's up, man?
[00:37:56] What'd you have for dinner last night?
[00:37:57] Yeah.
[00:37:58] And you can, by the way, you can totally approach me.
[00:38:00] Don't ask me about dinner.
[00:38:01] Ask me about the weather.
[00:38:03] Really?
[00:38:04] You're a weather guy?
[00:38:05] Weather.
[00:38:06] Weather or not.
[00:38:08] Weather or not.
[00:38:10] Not really a weather guy, but it's funny you ask.
[00:38:15] Here's the deal with the weather.
[00:38:17] All right.
[00:38:18] The weather.
[00:38:18] No, I actually thought if Tom asked me for the weather tonight, I have an answer for
[00:38:22] it because I usually expect to be asked about the weather.
[00:38:25] And weather is one of those topics.
[00:38:26] It's like you, it's, it's weather always has something to say, you know, and by it,
[00:38:31] I do mean the weather.
[00:38:32] So the weather is, it's a bit of like a chameleon.
[00:38:35] It's always changing.
[00:38:36] It's always keeping us on our toes.
[00:38:38] You know, the skies might be clear one day and maybe the next day it's just full of thoughts.
[00:38:43] It's like a little bit of a, like, you know, cloud watching material.
[00:38:47] Sometimes the air, it feels like it's in one of those moods where it could just decide
[00:38:53] to do whatever the hell it wants to do.
[00:38:55] But you know what?
[00:38:56] That's what makes weather so fascinating.
[00:38:59] And the wind, by the way, the wind could be whispering secrets from far away.
[00:39:07] Or perhaps it's just a gentle reminder that the world is full of momentum, always in flux,
[00:39:11] you know, movement, inertia going deeper and deeper.
[00:39:16] You know the drill.
[00:39:17] I have a question for you, Tom, actually, and this is, this is a real question.
[00:39:20] Real question.
[00:39:21] It's a very, this is a very real rhetorical question that needs no answer.
[00:39:25] Have you ever noticed how some days the sun seems to shine?
[00:39:30] It seems to shine with this, like, it's like this bold yet quiet confidence beaming from light
[00:39:37] years away or actually like 92 million miles away, which is a mere fraction of a light
[00:39:41] year.
[00:39:41] But I digress.
[00:39:42] And then other days it, it might be a little more like reserved, you know, peeking out from
[00:39:48] behind the clouds every now and then.
[00:39:51] Like, it's, it's almost like it's thinking things over, you know, from afar, not to be confused with a fire, which I know is ironic because I'm talking about a glowing mass.
[00:40:02] But, you know, the weather could be calm.
[00:40:04] The weather maybe has some days where it feels like you're in the middle of a totally unscripted drama.
[00:40:11] The point is, there's a rhythm to it.
[00:40:13] There's an ebb and flow.
[00:40:15] And sometimes the best thing to do is to just simply observe it all, you know, as it unfolds without really trying to figure out, you know, what it is or try to put some kind of fleeting, fragile, finite formulation to it.
[00:40:29] And people actually ask me all the time, and it's almost daily.
[00:40:33] They say, Clay, how's the weather where you are?
[00:40:36] And I got to tell you that there's really only one answer to that question.
[00:40:40] And that answer is another question.
[00:40:44] Weather?
[00:40:45] What weather?
[00:40:46] Back to you, Tom.
[00:40:48] Tom, I think the shrooms are kicking in.
[00:40:50] I think you're right.
[00:40:51] I was going to say, which one of the shrooms is it tonight?
[00:40:54] Is it?
[00:40:55] I don't know.
[00:40:56] There's a variety of.
[00:40:57] So, yeah, that was very.
[00:40:59] They're not portobello, Tom.
[00:41:00] It's not a portobello.
[00:41:01] That was very deep.
[00:41:03] That was very deep.
[00:41:04] Is it?
[00:41:05] Is it the.
[00:41:06] That's pretty.
[00:41:07] Yeah.
[00:41:07] Is it the tiger mane?
[00:41:09] Or what do they call it?
[00:41:10] The lion's mane?
[00:41:10] Lion's mane?
[00:41:11] No.
[00:41:12] Okay.
[00:41:13] Cabo Amarillo.
[00:41:14] Amarillo.
[00:41:15] Ah.
[00:41:16] Yellow cape.
[00:41:17] Nice.
[00:41:18] Very cool.
[00:41:19] Well, hey, it's.
[00:41:23] So, so there was, there was a question in there somewhere, but.
[00:41:28] No, there wasn't.
[00:41:29] No, there wasn't.
[00:41:30] Yeah.
[00:41:31] Somewhere.
[00:41:33] Let me go back to it.
[00:41:34] Let me, let me go back in the transcript here.
[00:41:36] Hold on a second.
[00:41:39] No, no.
[00:41:40] I guess there wasn't a question.
[00:41:41] Okay.
[00:41:41] Nevermind.
[00:41:45] Ah, the good old days.
[00:41:47] This brings back a lot of, a lot of memories.
[00:41:49] It really does.
[00:41:50] I am funny.
[00:41:51] A lot of moments.
[00:41:56] So, the image of foosball, we got a, is all about wholesome and family and, yeah.
[00:42:06] Is it?
[00:42:06] I don't know.
[00:42:07] Well, I don't think so.
[00:42:09] 100%.
[00:42:09] It's, it's.
[00:42:10] To me, foosball is about slingshots and death threats.
[00:42:13] Yeah, let's go.
[00:42:15] Slingshots and, that's a bumper sticker right there.
[00:42:17] I mean, I think a lot of people would like to.
[00:42:19] I think a lot of people.
[00:42:20] Slingshots and death threats?
[00:42:21] Yeah.
[00:42:23] I think a lot of people would like to think that foosball is some wholesome thing, but
[00:42:27] foosball's roots cannot be ignored and where a lot of people learn and start out to play
[00:42:32] cannot be ignored, you know.
[00:42:33] It's a bar game.
[00:42:34] Mm-hmm.
[00:42:35] Mm-hmm.
[00:42:35] And, again, I'm, I'm a, I'm a second generation fooster.
[00:42:39] I grew up playing foosball in my backyard with barbecues and cigars.
[00:42:43] I was smoking cigars at seven years old and it was a lot of fun.
[00:42:46] Fond memories, right?
[00:42:47] But I have to imagine the majority, no, I know for a fact the majority of foosters that start
[00:42:53] playing, it ain't a family thing.
[00:42:56] They're just hanging with their friends.
[00:42:59] Well, sometimes.
[00:43:00] I think competition is just part of the human experience and how good can I get and can I
[00:43:04] beat you and can you beat me and if yes or no, then what?
[00:43:08] I think it's part of what makes us people.
[00:43:10] Yeah.
[00:43:11] Yeah.
[00:43:11] No, it's, we, we, we need something to distract ourselves from, from everything else going
[00:43:16] on and foosball works really well that way.
[00:43:18] I don't even think of it as a distraction.
[00:43:20] I think of it as a way to help me prepare for various aspects of life.
[00:43:25] Ooh.
[00:43:25] You've heard Ryan actually talk about this, about how his competition in foosball put
[00:43:31] him in a place to succeed in business.
[00:43:33] I actually believe there's, it's not a perfect parallel across all, you know, topics or whatever,
[00:43:40] but I do think to some extent the way that you learn and play foosball can totally prepare
[00:43:45] you for, for bigger things in life.
[00:43:47] I know like conversations I'm in or heated exchange, road rage, as most people call it.
[00:43:52] I, I'm very comfortable in confrontation because of how much I've had in the competitive parts
[00:43:59] of life, foosball, baseball, you know, Robin Banks, whatever you want to call it.
[00:44:03] I think foosball can prepare you for, um, it's fun.
[00:44:08] It is fun.
[00:44:09] It is a thing you do with your friends and family, but I don't think it's necessarily
[00:44:12] to build for me, at least it's not to build friendships or to have more family.
[00:44:17] I think it, that's just a by-product.
[00:44:19] I think, I think a foosball is, I want to compete.
[00:44:22] I want to, I want to be good.
[00:44:23] And also I want to test how good I am from time to time.
[00:44:26] And I want to play good players.
[00:44:29] Adam, how about yourself?
[00:44:30] Your, your, uh, your history as a, as a pro foosball player 20 years ago.
[00:44:34] Um, and your dad, of course, and your mom were, were fully involved in the foosball world.
[00:44:40] So if they hadn't been, do you think you would have been a foosball player?
[00:44:43] Just a, just a preface to this.
[00:44:45] Just, I want to shout out to my folks who I know are listening right now.
[00:44:48] Uh, next weekend, they're going to be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.
[00:44:52] Wow.
[00:44:53] Wow.
[00:44:54] Congratulations.
[00:44:55] Yeah.
[00:44:55] Yeah.
[00:44:56] That's a long ass time.
[00:44:57] That's a, that's remarkable.
[00:45:00] Yeah.
[00:45:00] What's more remarkable is that means that I'm like almost 50 years old.
[00:45:05] Yeah.
[00:45:05] There's always that.
[00:45:07] There's always that.
[00:45:08] Um, uh, what was the question?
[00:45:10] Well, so if you're, if your parents had not been like, you know, major into foosball and
[00:45:16] you didn't get all those tournaments as a kid, do you think you would have gotten into
[00:45:19] the sport of regardless?
[00:45:20] Well, I never got into foosball tournaments as a kid.
[00:45:23] My, when I grew up, but for those who don't know, my dad and my mother worked heavily with
[00:45:28] tournament soccer.
[00:45:28] They were like, my dad designed the balls.
[00:45:30] He was, he was part of the design crew that he liked, he did all kinds of stuff with them.
[00:45:33] Right.
[00:45:34] Um, very heavily involved, but he, he played, but he was always on the business side of
[00:45:39] it, more on the business side by the seventies.
[00:45:41] And by the time I grew up, you know, when I was a kid of the eighties, we had a foosball
[00:45:46] table and I just assumed everybody had a foosball table.
[00:45:49] You assumed it.
[00:45:49] I didn't know about organized foosball tournaments until the late nineties.
[00:45:54] When my, when my, my, um, uh, my, my godfather, John sneaky Jack Graham, who passed away a
[00:46:01] couple of years ago, he, he came over and he was big into training.
[00:46:04] He, he had some, some good finishes and open doubles at worlds back in the seventies,
[00:46:08] blah, blah, blah.
[00:46:09] Anyways, he's like, you want to start training?
[00:46:11] You want to start practicing?
[00:46:11] I played, I grew up playing the warehouse style.
[00:46:13] My folks called it, most people call it speed ball or, you know, jungle ball or whatever.
[00:46:18] And, uh, that's, that's what I knew.
[00:46:20] So I didn't really start playing tournament style until I was like 19 or 20 or so.
[00:46:25] Hmm.
[00:46:25] And, um, and so I didn't know about it.
[00:46:27] And I, I, I've often wondered by parents just, they never, they, they were there on the business
[00:46:31] end of it.
[00:46:32] So they saw, and we'll be really honest when we talk about foosball, all these coked out
[00:46:36] druggies in the seventies who we idealized had some issues, you know, they had some issues
[00:46:42] and I don't think they wanted that life for me.
[00:46:44] And I, and I respect that because I think they knew they understood the bug.
[00:46:49] They understood what it was like.
[00:46:50] And yet once I still got that, that interface with it, I still got into it.
[00:46:55] I still spent my early twenties from 2000 to 2005 or six, uh, playing and doing well, um,
[00:47:02] you know, winning, uh, uh, world events at the pro level and, and, and getting placing top
[00:47:08] four and open doubles at state level and things like that.
[00:47:11] And, um, and it was fun, but my experience by the time I was out of it, and this is unrelated
[00:47:17] to foosball was just as like, I was losing my damn mind.
[00:47:20] I was like depressed and upset because I was like, how come a, I never accomplished what
[00:47:24] I wanted in foosball and B, why do I have these deadhead jobs that aren't doing anything
[00:47:28] for me?
[00:47:28] That's separate from foosball, right?
[00:47:30] That's just, that was my own temper, my own thing.
[00:47:32] But the point is, is that, you know, my, my takeaway from foosball at that time was self-reflective,
[00:47:40] so to speak.
[00:47:41] Right.
[00:47:41] But, but as far as, you know, would I have done that, would I have done any, anything
[00:47:45] like that?
[00:47:46] I'm always drawn to competitive stuff.
[00:47:48] It's essentially stuff that I'm good at.
[00:47:50] I highly doubt unless I randomly found it.
[00:47:54] Some random person showed it to me growing up here in Southern California where I live
[00:47:58] far away from, from the Trevor parks of the world and those people.
[00:48:01] I highly doubt it.
[00:48:03] I highly, highly doubt it.
[00:48:06] Interesting.
[00:48:07] Yeah.
[00:48:08] So, Clay, how about yourself, man?
[00:48:11] You're, you're, you got introduced to this game.
[00:48:13] How?
[00:48:16] I heard about foosball when I was a kid because I, my family played.
[00:48:21] I'm not a second generation foosball player, by the way.
[00:48:24] My dad played and my uncles and cousins and all them played because before I was alive,
[00:48:29] really.
[00:48:30] So I don't consider myself a second generation player.
[00:48:31] But I knew what foosball was though.
[00:48:33] So, and then fast forward into my thirties, I guess, mid thirties, I was working out in
[00:48:39] West Texas in the oil and gas industry.
[00:48:41] And that is, you know, it's a hundred thousand roughnecks in a small area and they work 12
[00:48:47] hours and then go play pool and drink.
[00:48:49] And I don't play pool and I don't drink.
[00:48:50] So I was always at the crew house just chilling out.
[00:48:52] And then one day they came back and they were asking me to like, you know, at least drive
[00:48:57] for it.
[00:48:57] So we don't have to drive, you know, after we've been drinking or whatever, but that's against
[00:49:00] company policy.
[00:49:01] I was like, I'm out there.
[00:49:03] And then they told me, well, they got the, they got this foosball table.
[00:49:05] There's the old dudes down there who plays foosball.
[00:49:07] And I think they play for money.
[00:49:08] And I remember thinking I had, I had a foosball table some, at some point in my childhood.
[00:49:13] And I'm just like naturally inclined to do things.
[00:49:16] Well, I think sometimes if it's especially like a competitive thing.
[00:49:18] So I was like, I'll go down there and kick these old guys ass.
[00:49:22] They're old and I'm good.
[00:49:23] Like I, even though I never played, I just thought it's just a peek into the ego there.
[00:49:27] And so I went down, this was in 2013.
[00:49:30] I went down and I went down to the fast eddies there in Odessa, Texas.
[00:49:37] I walked in and there's four or five dudes, you know, around the table, just playing pickup
[00:49:41] games and they weren't playing for money.
[00:49:43] So I was bummed about that, but they just kind of chipped in quarters and they, they just
[00:49:46] rotated, you know, King of the Hill style.
[00:49:48] The winner played, just stayed and whoever else wanted to play got next.
[00:49:52] And, and I got, put my quarter up and got, I went and played and they mopped the floor
[00:49:57] with me.
[00:49:58] It was embarrassing.
[00:49:59] I couldn't do anything.
[00:50:00] I couldn't, I didn't even know passing was a thing.
[00:50:01] I didn't know the rules.
[00:50:02] I didn't know how to shoot.
[00:50:04] It was my introduction to, it wasn't even like tournament style of play.
[00:50:10] These were like the lowest quality players who I still couldn't even, I couldn't do anything.
[00:50:17] And I was absolutely, they weren't decent.
[00:50:20] They were bad players and they still killed me.
[00:50:23] That's how bad I was.
[00:50:24] And I am drawn to that kind of thing so much.
[00:50:28] Like if it's a, if it's a, if it's a thing that you can be good at it and I'm not good,
[00:50:32] I am in love.
[00:50:34] Show, I'd kick my ass until I figured out.
[00:50:36] There you go.
[00:50:36] And I, and that is just how my brain works.
[00:50:38] And so I went down there every Thursday and every Saturday for months.
[00:50:42] And anytime I was in town working, I would go and play and just, they'd just handle, handle
[00:50:48] me.
[00:50:48] I'd kick my ass and I figured out how to do one shot.
[00:50:51] And then I figured out how to do a pass.
[00:50:53] And with the pass and the shot, I was winning within a few months.
[00:50:57] Then one of them invited me to Texas state the following May in 2014.
[00:51:02] 2014.
[00:51:03] By then I showed up because I'd been kicking the old dude's ass.
[00:51:06] I figured out how to play and I was kicking their ass for six months.
[00:51:09] And I was like, I'm going to show up.
[00:51:10] I even posted on the foosball board, which was a forum back in the day.
[00:51:14] I was like, Hey, should I play beginner?
[00:51:15] I don't want to play beginner events because I don't feel like a beginner.
[00:51:18] And they're like, if you've never played in a tournament, you're a beginner.
[00:51:21] I don't know.
[00:51:22] And then also I'm asking, so what are the rules?
[00:51:24] I know the time rules and you can't pass a stop ball, but can you pass backwards?
[00:51:28] Like I was asking all kinds of questions and I showed up to Texas state thinking, I
[00:51:32] hope I don't embarrass myself by winning beginner singles because I'm too good to
[00:51:37] have played in that event.
[00:51:38] And all weekend I played, I think 14 events and I won two games, two games, two
[00:51:45] games and the whole weekend.
[00:51:46] Yeah.
[00:51:46] And so then the process started all over again.
[00:51:49] Like, Oh, I am.
[00:51:50] Why?
[00:51:51] No, I'm hot garbage in foosball and I got to figure this out.
[00:51:55] And I just fell in love with the challenge.
[00:51:57] And I didn't even know that Dallas had a foosball scene at that point.
[00:52:00] It's where I live here in Dallas.
[00:52:01] I didn't even know that we had foosball.
[00:52:03] I thought foosball was out in West Texas.
[00:52:05] And then September, about a year after I'd been playing in West Texas, I found out
[00:52:10] we got a local game here in Dallas and there's some big dogs in Dallas who, I
[00:52:15] mean, world hall of famers, you know, Steve Murray, Brandon Moreland, you know, players
[00:52:20] like this who will just, Warren Ben Lendingham off the floor with Warren's here.
[00:52:23] Yeah.
[00:52:23] Dennis Ori, Michael Archer.
[00:52:25] I mean, if you want to get good at foosball, Dallas, I just, so I just hit the geographical
[00:52:30] jackpot as far as foosball goes.
[00:52:32] And, you know, there's not a lot of friendships, not a lot of people.
[00:52:35] It's not fun, actually, in my opinion.
[00:52:37] But if you want to get good, this is a good place to get really good, really fast.
[00:52:41] And so that I was just, I was just drawn to that.
[00:52:44] Like, how can somebody be so good at this?
[00:52:46] Like, how, how is that possible?
[00:52:48] And that challenge really just, I just fell in love with that.
[00:52:51] Now that story you just told.
[00:52:52] I played for a couple of years and then I got into the stat stuff, which I was fascinated
[00:52:57] even more.
[00:52:58] Yeah.
[00:53:02] Yeah, I think I, yes, the answer is yes.
[00:53:05] But, and also I don't put a lot of me, I don't, I don't think that's really that hard.
[00:53:08] I think I've been on record quite a lot saying if you, if you have mechanics and you play
[00:53:13] tournaments, you should be pro in a couple of years.
[00:53:16] Like a pro is not hard to achieve.
[00:53:18] Master is a different conversation.
[00:53:19] But if you've been, if you've been playing for a decade or more and you've actually been
[00:53:24] going to tournaments, you should be, you should be pro and, you know, four or five years.
[00:53:29] And if you're aren't, then you're not, you're not practicing the right things.
[00:53:33] Getting to pro is very simple.
[00:53:35] I think.
[00:53:36] Interesting.
[00:53:37] I like that.
[00:53:38] I'll put my money where my mouth is on that, by the way.
[00:53:41] I need to, I want to backtrack real quick.
[00:53:43] I don't want to derail, but I do want to make this point.
[00:53:46] Clay is somebody who I know is internet savvy and has got a good grasp of what's going on
[00:53:52] around him.
[00:53:52] And back in 2000 whenever, before you really got into it, you didn't even know that who's
[00:53:57] ball was going on around you is such an important point.
[00:54:01] And it ties back to what we were talking about earlier.
[00:54:03] Yes.
[00:54:03] When we talk about the reach that, that, that foosball is having now with the social
[00:54:07] medias on, on, on modern foos, because so many people are asking in the comments of
[00:54:13] across the board, you know, where can I play?
[00:54:15] What can I do?
[00:54:16] I didn't know this existed.
[00:54:17] I want to do this.
[00:54:18] I want to look into this.
[00:54:19] That's a level of reach.
[00:54:20] That's a level of engagement that goes far beyond just you, you know, hoping that maybe
[00:54:25] you go to some random bar and there's a foosball table.
[00:54:28] You're hoping that maybe you are born into a family that plays foosball or maybe, you
[00:54:32] know, any one of those kinds of situations.
[00:54:33] That's something different.
[00:54:35] That's something completely new for foosball.
[00:54:37] That's how that plays out.
[00:54:38] There's a lot of Clay Toomey's out there, right?
[00:54:40] There's, there's Clay Toomey's that are, that are, that are watching these, these, uh,
[00:54:44] these shorts, these quick clips and going, how do they do that?
[00:54:47] I want to know more about, I want to, I'm now, you know what?
[00:54:50] They can do that.
[00:54:51] I can, I want to try that too.
[00:54:53] How do I do that?
[00:54:54] Dude, I saw a comment, uh, today or yesterday in one of our socials, one of our videos or
[00:55:00] whatever.
[00:55:00] And somebody said, man, this looks awesome.
[00:55:03] I live in Denver.
[00:55:04] I wish we had foosball here.
[00:55:06] Ooh.
[00:55:07] Ooh.
[00:55:09] Like literally a lot of people call it the Mecca of foosball.
[00:55:13] So I have two different reactions to that.
[00:55:15] One side of it goes, you're so delusional that you don't even know what exists.
[00:55:19] But then on the other side, it's like, no, actually, why would you know until, unless
[00:55:22] we did a better job?
[00:55:23] And of course I did respond and say, Hey, look up this person, look at this place, blah,
[00:55:27] blah, blah.
[00:55:28] But that foosball really is, it's a very niche, like small thing.
[00:55:33] That's the problem.
[00:55:34] I was walking distance from a hotbed and didn't know it.
[00:55:37] And, and I could judge and I can critique, I could critique and I could do all these
[00:55:40] things to, you know, shit on foosball, but I don't think that really serves a point.
[00:55:44] What can I do?
[00:55:45] And so I just doing my thing to, to, I want more people.
[00:55:50] Oh, actually Brandon Moreland told me a cool story last night at the local.
[00:55:53] He said he was playing poker at one of the casinos or poker rooms here.
[00:55:56] And, and he said that pull darts and foosball became the topic of conversation at this poker
[00:56:02] game.
[00:56:03] At the poker game.
[00:56:03] Nope.
[00:56:04] Yeah.
[00:56:04] And no, and no, and the players don't know who Brandon is.
[00:56:06] They don't know he's world champion in, in a bad-ass in foosball, but somebody says,
[00:56:12] pull is this, well darts this.
[00:56:14] And it's so exciting.
[00:56:15] And then this other guy chimes in and he's like, oh my God, they have nothing on foosball
[00:56:18] players.
[00:56:19] And he starts talking about the shorts and the videos and they have this and you have to
[00:56:23] have slow motion to see that.
[00:56:24] And, and Brandon's not saying anything and the dealer knows Brandon.
[00:56:28] So the dealer is kind of giggling with him, but this guy had seen our, our stuff on Instagram
[00:56:33] or Facebook or YouTube or wherever.
[00:56:36] By the way, 10 million views is what we had in 2024.
[00:56:39] 10 million.
[00:56:40] 10 million.
[00:56:40] 10 million.
[00:56:41] We had a million on Facebook, seeing our Facebook reels.
[00:56:45] We had a 3 million on YouTube, seeing our videos and shorts on YouTube.
[00:56:49] And we had 6 million on Instagram.
[00:56:51] So there's some eyeballs out there.
[00:56:52] And that is, that's views and the actual individual people that it reached probably in the range
[00:56:57] of like seven or 8 million people.
[00:56:58] And so one of those people was at the, at the game and Brandon overheard this.
[00:57:03] And of course, that is, that's impressive.
[00:57:06] One of the best players in the world.
[00:57:06] Yeah.
[00:57:07] And that to me is something that anybody can do, by the way.
[00:57:10] We don't have the market on this.
[00:57:11] And I will say, I will gladly help anybody do their own thing.
[00:57:15] I don't want to own this one thing that only exists in one place.
[00:57:19] I just love foosball.
[00:57:20] I just want it to, I want more people to fall in love with the thing that I love.
[00:57:24] And let me back that up by saying, back that thing up.
[00:57:30] If you think that Clay is sometimes unapproachable for whatever reason.
[00:57:34] That's a good thing to think, by the way.
[00:57:35] Yeah, it's a good thing to think.
[00:57:37] But also.
[00:57:38] He might ask you a question though.
[00:57:40] These kind of situations, when you're asking him, you know, advice on how to do any of this.
[00:57:46] Because we've been talking about this, the magic.
[00:57:49] Like, I don't, I don't, I get the tech stuff.
[00:57:51] I understand it, but I don't know it very, like it's not my thing.
[00:57:55] But Clay does.
[00:57:57] And somebody, I forgot who it was, who was it?
[00:58:00] It was, we don't need to say their name, but where were they from?
[00:58:02] There was, we got a message from somebody from Serbia or from.
[00:58:05] Yeah, Serbia.
[00:58:06] Serbia.
[00:58:07] Somebody from Serbia saying they've been watching, they've been watching the reels and things over the last couple weeks or what have you.
[00:58:15] And they're like, you know, could you give us some advice?
[00:58:18] Right?
[00:58:20] And I looked at the message because we're all in the same kind of social media thing.
[00:58:23] They sent it to the Modern Fuse account.
[00:58:24] Sent it to the Modern Fuse account.
[00:58:26] And I looked at Clay's response.
[00:58:27] And Clay gave a straight up response of what we do.
[00:58:30] Maybe he didn't give away government secrets of like the details of like the proprietary stuff.
[00:58:34] But gave, like explained all the other stuff.
[00:58:38] Like the roadmap to be able to basically just kind of recreate at least where we were at a couple weeks or months ago.
[00:58:43] Right?
[00:58:45] And that's what I'm talking about.
[00:58:46] That's what I'm talking about.
[00:58:47] It's not just so much like getting that stuff out there and doing that for what it is that we're doing, but being a resource for those globally that want to do that kind of thing.
[00:58:56] Because globally, if we're going to get foosball out there, that's what we got to do.
[00:58:59] And that's, I got to give props to Clay for giving that kind of response to him or for anybody else that would be acting.
[00:59:06] They're going to get that kind of answer.
[00:59:08] This dude, thank you by the way.
[00:59:10] This guy, I was so impressed with the question because he wanted to know generally what we do, software equipment, all this stuff.
[00:59:16] But he specifically mentioned the sound of the ball.
[00:59:19] And he says, how do you get, the ball sounds so good without all the mess in the background.
[00:59:25] He wanted to know how we had the crisp audio for the table sound.
[00:59:29] And I just, I am all about the details, man.
[00:59:32] I love, I just love going there.
[00:59:34] And it's part of what makes life fun to me.
[00:59:38] And a very short list of things that I enjoy.
[00:59:40] One of them is talking through the details of something that I know about and that somebody else is wondering.
[00:59:46] It's so fun.
[00:59:47] I love it.
[00:59:48] Yeah.
[00:59:49] Well, this is what we need.
[00:59:50] We need a guide.
[00:59:51] We need, people need a guide as to, okay, I can see that this is, this is, this is exciting.
[00:59:57] It's fast and it's, and it's, it's confusing.
[01:00:00] So what, what, what the hell is happening here?
[01:00:02] What, what am I looking at?
[01:00:03] And I think you guys really do a, do a great service in bringing those folks in closer to the game for sure.
[01:00:10] Yeah.
[01:00:11] Slow it, slow it down and explain it.
[01:00:13] Yeah.
[01:00:13] That's, I mean, just make it simple.
[01:00:16] It's perfect.
[01:00:17] And I, I want, I feel like we're, I feel like we're not helping to share the credit with the other three guys who aren't here.
[01:00:24] Who are like Adam said earlier, five people that make up Modern Foods.
[01:00:27] And, uh, Lukasz Kaprovsky, David Kala, you know, David from house of tournament stuff.
[01:00:32] Yeah.
[01:00:33] Just as much as that is Lukasz.
[01:00:35] And then Danilo Fatel, uh, these three dudes, they're, they're Microsoft engineers.
[01:00:40] Like they are brilliant people.
[01:00:42] It is very rare for me to walk into a room and just like not think I'm the smartest person.
[01:00:47] Like that's pretty rare.
[01:00:48] I usually, part of it's ego, part of it's, I'm actually competent.
[01:00:51] These dudes, I am not even in the top three.
[01:00:54] And probably sometimes at the, at the bottom of the list, they're so brilliant.
[01:00:57] And to their credit and the very beginning of that, am I saying that right, Adam?
[01:01:02] Hmm.
[01:01:02] Oh, I was just counting out three.
[01:01:04] Yeah.
[01:01:05] I hit you, I hit you with a math problem in the middle of, I hit an English teacher with
[01:01:08] a math problem right in the middle of Microsoft workers.
[01:01:12] I'm just three plus one equals four and there's five of us.
[01:01:16] So yeah.
[01:01:17] Thank you.
[01:01:17] Adam Algebra Gilson back to me.
[01:01:20] So yeah, I said, I said it and I don't know what I said, but I did say it.
[01:01:25] Should I talk about the weather again?
[01:01:27] Cause I will.
[01:01:27] No, you're good.
[01:01:28] No, no, no.
[01:01:28] Say, say what you're saying.
[01:01:30] Uh, thank you.
[01:01:31] Back to me.
[01:01:31] Yeah.
[01:01:31] So they, in the very beginning when we, our first tournament was only like two years ago.
[01:01:38] It was the Portland matchup September of 2022.
[01:01:40] Very recent.
[01:01:41] And that was literally our first tournament.
[01:01:43] And then after that, the question from David and company was, what do we need?
[01:01:49] Like, what, what would it take to have like a good, um, uh, like a good setup?
[01:01:53] Presentation.
[01:01:54] Worlds of 2022 was the last time I messed with, with the other guys.
[01:01:58] And now it's what, what's the new idea?
[01:02:01] Yeah.
[01:02:01] And I gave him like a Christmas wish, like a Christmas wish list.
[01:02:05] And I don't believe in Santa's.
[01:02:06] I forgot what they call it.
[01:02:06] But I gave that wish list and I was like this, this, this, and this.
[01:02:11] And thinking like, dude, if we get half of this, we're going to have a bad-ass setup.
[01:02:15] We got all of it.
[01:02:17] And then the next tournament is like, what else can we add?
[01:02:19] Do that.
[01:02:20] What else can we add?
[01:02:21] It's done.
[01:02:22] What about player mics?
[01:02:23] Buy them.
[01:02:24] What about getting the overlay with the score?
[01:02:27] Done.
[01:02:27] Done.
[01:02:28] What about, what about, uh, implementing like live real-time stats?
[01:02:32] Done.
[01:02:33] Okay.
[01:02:33] What about instead of having GoPros on table two and three?
[01:02:36] What about Sony?
[01:02:38] Like actual better camp?
[01:02:39] Done.
[01:02:39] Done.
[01:02:40] And it's, we've just, it's been yeses the entire way.
[01:02:43] And it's easy.
[01:02:45] Like Adam and I get a lot of credit, but it is not, it is not proportional to the credit,
[01:02:50] to the credit that we deserve.
[01:02:52] I think only because the other three just, most people just don't.
[01:02:55] And they're fine with it.
[01:02:55] They don't need the accolades or the public, you know, whatever.
[01:02:59] But I, it would not have, it literally just would not happen without, without those
[01:03:05] three.
[01:03:05] Period.
[01:03:06] Period.
[01:03:07] I sounds like a, do you agree with that, Adam?
[01:03:09] I don't want to speak.
[01:03:10] No, a hundred percent.
[01:03:11] And I, and I, it's fascinating to see them, the three of them work because it's always
[01:03:15] been to me, because, because I've been involved, you know, obviously the history with inside
[01:03:20] foos and things last three, three years now, four years, whatever it was, um, you know,
[01:03:25] and just kind of being involved in foosball just to, to see what they've been doing and
[01:03:29] the way that they do it, the way they operate.
[01:03:31] I think it's very much how they do their, the programming, right?
[01:03:34] They do a little bit here and they do a little bit there.
[01:03:36] Then they change it and they do a little bit, a little bit, and then they bring in more and
[01:03:39] they bring in more and bring in more.
[01:03:41] And then that kind of mindset.
[01:03:44] No, let me rephrase.
[01:03:45] I have that mindset.
[01:03:46] I am a hot damn mess, but I don't do it.
[01:03:50] They have discipline and they have execution and they do that.
[01:03:55] And you combine that with the resources and it is awesome.
[01:04:00] It is awesome for foosball.
[01:04:01] It is an awesome time to be alive and be into foosball right now because that kind of stuff
[01:04:06] is ridiculous.
[01:04:07] It is so cool.
[01:04:08] So yeah, no, I a hundred percent agree with you, Clay.
[01:04:10] It is, it is just neat to see that where they started the house of the house of tournaments
[01:04:15] when they first did that.
[01:04:16] I forget what it was.
[01:04:17] They did.
[01:04:18] The first thing I remember seeing them do is the Zeke came, the Zeke Mullins classic in
[01:04:24] 2021 or whatever.
[01:04:26] And then it kept evolving and evolving and evolving.
[01:04:28] And then they did money ball and they did this and now they're doing, well, now we're
[01:04:32] here, right?
[01:04:33] So no, it's yeah, it's, it's great.
[01:04:35] It's great to see that, that level of execution.
[01:04:38] People should emulate that with their foosball game.
[01:04:40] At the great lakes classic, uh, David, I was talking to Kristen and there was something
[01:04:45] going on with the, uh, the, the app and software.
[01:04:48] And she asked me a question and I was, it was, so something had happened in pro doubles
[01:04:52] where we skipped over a match.
[01:04:55] And I, I, I was like, you should put this safeguard in there to, and she, and she told him
[01:05:00] he was sitting right next to her and he put it right in and he just changed it on the
[01:05:04] spot.
[01:05:04] And I was like, I'm like, what?
[01:05:06] And he's like, oh yeah.
[01:05:07] Like he just tweaked it.
[01:05:08] I'm like, dude, that's awesome.
[01:05:10] Dude.
[01:05:10] So let me tell you that.
[01:05:12] So, so beach town, B town, um, the year before last, right?
[01:05:16] We did that.
[01:05:17] We covered that.
[01:05:18] Um, and that was, I think the first non-Pacific Northwest tournament we did.
[01:05:22] And that, the first night we were there, Clay came in the next day, that first night it's
[01:05:26] me and Danilo and, and, and, and, and David.
[01:05:29] And we were hanging out at the, um, Lilo's, uh, seafood, whatever place that it is.
[01:05:34] One of the best venues and places for foosball.
[01:05:36] It was awesome.
[01:05:38] But, but we came back to the, to the, the, the Airbnb that we had and we were watching
[01:05:43] the, looking at the, the setup and whatever, blah, blah, blah.
[01:05:46] And then one of the weirdest things I've ever seen, but also awesomest things I've ever
[01:05:51] seen.
[01:05:52] It was like two in the morning and we were all, you know, we'd had a couple adult beverages.
[01:05:56] Um, we were hammered.
[01:05:57] And, you know, most, most of the times when those kinds of situations happen, you know,
[01:06:01] it becomes like a pissing contest and whatever kind of thing happens.
[01:06:05] But you know what Dan and David did?
[01:06:08] They, they had a programmer off.
[01:06:11] They both opened up their C++ thing and were in DOS.
[01:06:15] Seriously?
[01:06:16] Yeah.
[01:06:16] And David was like, I'm going to out-program you.
[01:06:18] And they're just like sitting there going, brrr, like this.
[01:06:20] And I was like, what the hell is going on?
[01:06:23] And it was really cool because I don't know if you've ever seen that kind of thing, like
[01:06:25] all the letters, different colors and things like that.
[01:06:27] But they were just going on.
[01:06:29] And I was like, I got to go to bed.
[01:06:30] I cannot keep up with this.
[01:06:31] This is a really-
[01:06:32] This is how they live though.
[01:06:33] This is, this is their normal, their normal kind of hanging out.
[01:06:36] Fist fight, a fist fight with programming.
[01:06:39] A fist fight with programming.
[01:06:40] A coder's fist fight.
[01:06:41] Love it.
[01:06:43] By the way, just to-
[01:06:44] Two code, roller code.
[01:06:45] If you, uh-
[01:06:45] Two code, roller code.
[01:06:46] You are-
[01:06:47] Yeah.
[01:06:47] If you're listening to this podcast, we do need to bring into some of the, the action that
[01:06:52] happens on screen.
[01:06:53] Just a few seconds ago, Clay lifted a hammer into the scene, into, into his, into his frame
[01:06:58] and his picture.
[01:06:59] Clay, what was the hammer all about?
[01:07:00] And oh, another hammer.
[01:07:02] Another hammer from Adam.
[01:07:04] There's some symbology.
[01:07:06] We need to know the symbology of the hammers.
[01:07:08] Well, first of all, I thought that was a private moment.
[01:07:10] So I wasn't expecting to explain it, but Adam said something about we were hammered.
[01:07:15] And I thought, I wasn't, I don't, I don't do that.
[01:07:18] That's fine.
[01:07:18] But I do have a hammer that I can, I can, I can just slide up from the middle.
[01:07:23] That's right.
[01:07:23] Figuratively speaking.
[01:07:24] And, and I don't actually even know what it meant.
[01:07:27] It's just what the Lord put on my heart.
[01:07:28] There we go.
[01:07:29] Done.
[01:07:30] Yeah.
[01:07:30] It is Sunday.
[01:07:31] It is Sunday.
[01:07:32] Yeah.
[01:07:32] A little, a little, a little backstory going on.
[01:07:34] I love that.
[01:07:35] Got to have the back.
[01:07:35] Hey now.
[01:07:36] Oh, that's what that was.
[01:07:37] Yeah.
[01:07:38] Did I get, did I get, did I get, did I get Adam?
[01:07:45] Hang on a second.
[01:07:49] And Clay just took his headphones off.
[01:07:52] That's all I'm going to say.
[01:07:53] That's a good episode to be blind.
[01:07:54] That's all I'm going to say.
[01:07:55] You don't have to wonder anything.
[01:08:03] That's so fast.
[01:08:04] As they, as they used to say to me at this point, Tom, get this thing back on the rails.
[01:08:09] No need.
[01:08:10] No need.
[01:08:11] I think we're, we're fine.
[01:08:13] No, we, um.
[01:08:13] I spared you something, Tom.
[01:08:15] I, I, I'm not using my, part of the reason I'm using my, I'm using my small mic tonight
[01:08:19] instead of my whole setup is I didn't want to be tempted with buttons.
[01:08:21] I was going to hit you with some buttons this weekend.
[01:08:24] Are we talking about Robo Tom now?
[01:08:26] Is that, is that Robo Tom?
[01:08:28] Oh man.
[01:08:29] Just for good old times.
[01:08:30] Good, good times sake.
[01:08:31] Why not?
[01:08:32] You know, next time you come back.
[01:08:34] I don't have it set up though.
[01:08:34] Maybe next time.
[01:08:35] Next time you come back.
[01:08:36] We got to do that.
[01:08:37] Nice.
[01:08:38] Now here's, there's got to be another wishlist.
[01:08:41] You guys have been thinking about this for a while now.
[01:08:43] It's been two years.
[01:08:44] You're, you're evolving through this process.
[01:08:47] What's next?
[01:08:48] What, what, what do you want?
[01:08:50] Um, I'm going to let Adam take this one first.
[01:08:52] What do you want, Adam?
[01:08:53] What do you want?
[01:08:54] I'm going to let Adam take this one.
[01:08:56] All right.
[01:08:58] Like, what do I want?
[01:08:59] Yeah.
[01:09:00] What do you want?
[01:09:00] Like, like, no, what, what do you want to, what, what do you think is missing that you
[01:09:04] want to bring to the table?
[01:09:06] You're going to have to come back to me.
[01:09:07] I don't know.
[01:09:08] All right.
[01:09:08] Let you think about that.
[01:09:09] Clay?
[01:09:10] No, good.
[01:09:10] Put you on the spot.
[01:09:11] Put you on the spot.
[01:09:12] Yeah.
[01:09:12] No, it's not the spot.
[01:09:14] I guess just so to think if the next tournament is the T is the tournament kick, uh, tour kickoff
[01:09:20] TKO.
[01:09:21] And I'm thinking what, what has not existed yet that I would want to exist there.
[01:09:26] Hypothetically.
[01:09:27] Am I understanding the question?
[01:09:29] Yep.
[01:09:29] Is that, okay.
[01:09:30] So I think, first of all, I've, I think it's, uh, pointing back to something I already said
[01:09:36] about this thing where people just genuinely love like authenticity and it's not trying
[01:09:40] to force things.
[01:09:41] And so the, the bleacher set up at TKO is going to be different than it has been in
[01:09:45] the past.
[01:09:45] So we've heard it.
[01:09:46] It's yeah, it's going to be really cool.
[01:09:48] And, uh, and I, I, I think that the temptation is to tell people, Hey, be exciting.
[01:09:56] And it's like, that's not how it works to show up with and just take the filter off.
[01:10:00] And if you want to yell, yell, if you want to clap, clap, if you want to be there and
[01:10:03] not make a move or say a thing, then do that too.
[01:10:06] I really want to encourage people to just show up and be themselves.
[01:10:09] And I think the pit experience is going to, is going to really start being something
[01:10:12] else as, as the months move forward.
[01:10:15] Because I think, Hey, it's going to be a lot more places to sit and the angles are going
[01:10:20] to be different.
[01:10:21] We'll have a good angle change, but I, I really think, um, I don't know how much I'm allowed
[01:10:28] to say.
[01:10:29] I just think the finals are going to be more fun to watch.
[01:10:31] And I, and I really hope that we don't try to force people to be away, just have fun.
[01:10:37] So that's one thing, which is kind of abstract way of answering that question.
[01:10:41] But I guess bigger picture, what I, what I would, I can tell you what I would like to
[01:10:46] see go away.
[01:10:47] That's actually maybe a little bit more easy of a question to answer is what do I, what
[01:10:51] am I tired of?
[01:10:52] And what do I wish didn't exist anymore?
[01:10:54] And one of those is this, this age old thing with everything, every generation of foosball
[01:11:01] player before I've seen this thing where it's like, well, this is not how we used to do
[01:11:04] it.
[01:11:05] Or you, even in the comments, like on, like somebody has a good shot because the defense
[01:11:09] was bad and somebody goes, right.
[01:11:11] So you didn't put, nobody puts their hand back there anymore.
[01:11:14] Like, shut up, just shut up.
[01:11:15] Like it's so, it's so unnecessary actually.
[01:11:18] And so who cares what you did?
[01:11:20] Who cares how your uncle Pawpaw played foosball?
[01:11:23] Guess what?
[01:11:24] I don't know who he is.
[01:11:24] That means he sucks because otherwise I would know what he won and he didn't win anything.
[01:11:28] So shut up.
[01:11:29] Uncle Pawpaw sucks.
[01:11:30] And his distant relative, Wally Rollover can just suck one.
[01:11:34] All right.
[01:11:34] So I think all the, ironically, I'm wishing that the negativity would go away.
[01:11:39] And I think, but just to make a point, I want people to show up and what, and answer
[01:11:46] the question for yourself as an individual.
[01:11:48] What can I add to this?
[01:11:50] And if the answer is nothing, you're still welcome.
[01:11:52] Please be here.
[01:11:53] Just know that nobody is impressed by your condescending nonsense and how it was done in
[01:11:59] the past.
[01:11:59] This is what we're doing.
[01:12:00] We love it.
[01:12:01] We want you here.
[01:12:03] Love it with us.
[01:12:03] And if you have improvements, great.
[01:12:05] But who cares about, well back in my day, like shut up.
[01:12:08] The Rollover didn't ruin foosball.
[01:12:10] Pac-Man didn't ruin foosball.
[01:12:12] You can say all this shit till you're blue in the face.
[01:12:14] The bottom line is, what do you love about it?
[01:12:17] If you don't love foosball, go away.
[01:12:19] Go away.
[01:12:20] Just go play pickleball.
[01:12:21] It's fine.
[01:12:22] If you love foosball, be here with us and love it with us.
[01:12:26] Like if that's so hard, that's it.
[01:12:29] There you go.
[01:12:29] There you go.
[01:12:30] Bam.
[01:12:30] Yeah.
[01:12:31] No.
[01:12:32] Damn it, Clay.
[01:12:33] You said it.
[01:12:34] Yeah.
[01:12:35] But I guess, I feel like the question was more specific.
[01:12:39] Like what to me, what's my wish list for modern foos, what we should be doing or
[01:12:43] whatever, we're doing it.
[01:12:45] It's being done.
[01:12:46] You are doing it.
[01:12:47] And when it's not happening, we're working on it and improving it and doing
[01:12:49] whatever.
[01:12:50] I'm going to piggyback off of what Clay is saying.
[01:12:53] It's like, you know, I feel like foosball's greatest enemy is its players.
[01:12:59] Ironically, the most vocal ones, the ones that hold everything up or the ones that
[01:13:04] think things need to be a certain way or the ones that are stuck or the ones that
[01:13:08] think that rolling your face across your keyboard a couple times a day is the
[01:13:13] equivalent of doing something good for foosball.
[01:13:15] And it's not.
[01:13:16] Like if you're going to do something good for foosball, show up, be yourself and do
[01:13:20] it in a positive way.
[01:13:23] The keyboard.
[01:13:24] Up comes the keyboard.
[01:13:27] Don't do that.
[01:13:29] That's not good.
[01:13:30] Don't do it.
[01:13:31] Don't do it.
[01:13:33] But the visuals.
[01:13:34] What I'm saying is, and this is something I've been saying for years, is that you have
[01:13:39] to do something, be some positive.
[01:13:42] I mean, God, look at James Castile.
[01:13:43] Look at Sparky, man.
[01:13:44] Yeah.
[01:13:44] That dude, his whole ministry in life and foosball is to be a positive spark, to be a
[01:13:51] light for people, right?
[01:13:52] Being a light is being an asshole on Facebook.
[01:13:56] You know what I mean?
[01:13:58] Being a light in foosball means accepting the fact we're in a niche game that we
[01:14:04] desperately love, that really hasn't grown to some degree, but is on its way now, and
[01:14:11] means that you actually need to be involved in a positive way.
[01:14:15] And what those kind of positive ways are is, like, imagine if somebody said, imagine it's
[01:14:21] like a holiday dinner, and somebody's asking you about something you care about, like your
[01:14:26] work, or maybe you can do some stuff down at the local kitchen or whatever.
[01:14:33] I don't know, like the soup kitchen.
[01:14:34] And they say, you know, what are you doing to help out?
[01:14:36] Now, would you say when it came to work, or would you say when it came to working at a
[01:14:41] homeless shelter that what you did that day to help them was bitch about the fact that
[01:14:46] there wasn't enough red onions in the pantry?
[01:14:49] Or would you go out and do something about the lack of red onions?
[01:14:54] Would you go out and do something positive?
[01:14:57] And for me, that's what I want to see.
[01:14:59] Yeah.
[01:15:00] That's what I want to see.
[01:15:01] I want people to just start doing...
[01:15:02] We're going to do our work.
[01:15:03] I think Clay, I think Dan, Lukash, David, and myself, we're going to be doing our work.
[01:15:11] We're going to be doing what we got to do.
[01:15:13] But, you know, as far as this little ramshackle game that we all love, it's a little bit more
[01:15:21] than bitching about the red onions.
[01:15:23] A little bit more.
[01:15:24] I used to eat soup, but I ate it in a house.
[01:15:27] Oh, what is this?
[01:15:32] I didn't go through a line to get it.
[01:15:34] What has soup become?
[01:15:37] Soup, you know, and they have paper bowls.
[01:15:41] Fucking plastic spoons.
[01:15:44] This is why nobody buys soup anymore.
[01:15:47] You should have a porcelain nice bowl with a metal spoon and a chair.
[01:15:52] A table to sit at, not a bench.
[01:15:54] It's so unsouped.
[01:15:56] Among 300 other people who are hungry more than I am because I am better and more superior.
[01:16:02] And I'm just tired of being around all these needy people.
[01:16:06] That's how stupid it is to me, by the way.
[01:16:08] That's literally how dumb I think some people are.
[01:16:11] We got a couple of great questions here that came up on the Twitch feed.
[01:16:16] First of all, are there going to be ads during the timeouts during your coverage this year at TKO?
[01:16:26] So one of the, so there, I'm going to, I will answer the question and there'll be some vagueness in here.
[01:16:32] But so we are not going to be streaming on our channel.
[01:16:36] We're going to be streaming on the World Foosball Tour Twitch channel.
[01:16:39] So if you're on Twitch now or if you're listening in the future anywhere, go to twitch.tv and follow twitch.tv slash world foosball tour.
[01:16:49] So the live stream is moving from Modern Foos's Twitch for the World Foosball Tour events.
[01:16:55] It's moving from our channel to the World Foosball Tour channel.
[01:16:59] So go follow that.
[01:17:00] It's not active yet.
[01:17:01] I hope it's there actually.
[01:17:03] But that's where we're going to be streaming.
[01:17:05] So I don't, we sold ad space as a way to recover some of our costs in traveling.
[01:17:11] So I don't know all the details for the ads, for streams in the future.
[01:17:17] There are, I like this question because literally as we're talking, like about, I don't know, 30 minutes ago maybe.
[01:17:24] Somebody had sent a question asking if we were doing ads this year and how much they were and all this stuff.
[01:17:29] And I asked, they said they had a new product for a new commercial.
[01:17:31] And I can't tell you what the product is because I don't have their permission to talk about it.
[01:17:35] This is something I dreamed about.
[01:17:36] If we had this in foosball, this would be so awesome.
[01:17:39] And I haven't watched the commercial yet because, like I said, this is very recent.
[01:17:44] I was talking to y'all.
[01:17:45] But if this is going to be what I think it is, then it'll be fun to talk about at TKO.
[01:17:51] And it will also add to the quality of life for all foosball players except those in Oklahoma and Florida who don't know how to play without beating the hell out of the bumpers.
[01:18:02] And South Mississippi and Louisiana, it's a real southern thing.
[01:18:04] It took one hour and 18 minutes before you mentioned Oklahoma.
[01:18:07] Just saying.
[01:18:08] It's a record.
[01:18:10] It is.
[01:18:11] And I'll never probably beat that, nor will I try.
[01:18:14] But, yeah.
[01:18:14] So this product, I hope, is going to buy some ad space to play because I think I'm a big fan of the tech side of things.
[01:18:24] You know, modern is literally part of our name.
[01:18:26] It's half of our name.
[01:18:27] I like moving forward with new ideas and new tech.
[01:18:30] And I don't think all of them are necessary.
[01:18:33] All of them are not good, frankly.
[01:18:35] Sometimes people, hey, look at this new toy.
[01:18:36] Oh, cool.
[01:18:37] Oh, it sucks, actually.
[01:18:38] Go back to the shop and keep working on it and then holler when you're ready.
[01:18:41] That is a real thing.
[01:18:42] And I don't shit on them.
[01:18:44] I don't discourage them.
[01:18:45] But there are things that just aren't ready yet.
[01:18:47] Right.
[01:18:47] But I love all the new ideas.
[01:18:49] This is an idea that I've only dreamed about.
[01:18:51] I've never talked about this with anybody.
[01:18:53] So nobody knows that I've dreamed about this.
[01:18:55] And I love that this showed up in the inbox.
[01:18:57] So a roundabout way of saying not sure on the ads just yet.
[01:19:00] But if you've seen the ads in the past, the Foos Gear ad, the Landhart ad with Lynn Cambrose and Dan Packer, I believe, from Canada, those are available online, I believe, somewhere.
[01:19:15] So search around YouTube.
[01:19:16] Those are fun ads.
[01:19:18] They're advertising Landhart foosball table.
[01:19:21] So that's cool.
[01:19:22] But they're actually just fun to watch.
[01:19:23] If you can't find them, holler at me.
[01:19:24] We can share them.
[01:19:25] So that is a part.
[01:19:26] That's something we added to the stream last year that people, shocker, they love it.
[01:19:31] Even though it's an ad and it's not directly foosball related as far as like a match, people love watching that stuff.
[01:19:38] People are starved for foosball content, man.
[01:19:41] People are so starved for anything that's foosball.
[01:19:45] You could stand on a foosball table and sing the alphabet and people would love it.
[01:19:50] I mean, anything.
[01:19:51] If you have a table, put a phone on there and just tic-tac on the five bar and video it and then sing to the beat of the tic-tac.
[01:20:00] Pick a song.
[01:20:01] Sing the national anthem.
[01:20:02] People will watch it.
[01:20:04] People are so starved for foosball content.
[01:20:06] Huh.
[01:20:07] Well, it is proven.
[01:20:09] And again, statistically speaking, 2 million views.
[01:20:13] Wow.
[01:20:13] 2 million.
[01:20:15] 10 million views in 2024.
[01:20:17] No, 2 million for one of the videos though, right?
[01:20:19] So one video.
[01:20:21] 2 million videos.
[01:20:23] 2 million views on Sullivan Rue and Sammy Dijon.
[01:20:28] Just one video.
[01:20:30] Yeah, our most viewed match is Sullivan and Sam.
[01:20:34] And that is 1.7 and climbing.
[01:20:36] It'll be 2 million by the end of the week probably.
[01:20:38] Close to 2 million.
[01:20:39] And then on our short video content, the reels on Instagram, a slingshot that Eric Hiltner shot.
[01:20:46] And by the way, if you asked me six months ago, you know, what's going to be the most viewed foosball clip of the year?
[01:20:53] I don't think anybody on their bingo card had.
[01:20:56] Well, Eric Hiltner in singles shooting a slingshot from the two bar is going to get 2.9 million views.
[01:21:03] Wow.
[01:21:03] Yet here we are.
[01:21:04] Yeah.
[01:21:05] 2.9 million views on Instagram.
[01:21:06] People, I mean, people love.
[01:21:08] Foosball is a very attractive game if you're into quick, fascinating things.
[01:21:14] And we're finally just showing people this is what it looks like.
[01:21:17] Like you hit the, shall we say, the vein in the gold mine.
[01:21:22] Boom.
[01:21:23] I fell in love and I believe that other people will too.
[01:21:26] And so I just show them.
[01:21:27] Yeah.
[01:21:27] And, you know, veins be damned.
[01:21:29] I love a good thick vein sometimes.
[01:21:31] Wow.
[01:21:32] Oh, boy.
[01:21:33] So do you think Ryan trying to include people and personalities in the mix, it's going to make a difference in views?
[01:21:41] Do you think it's going to increase views?
[01:21:43] Good question.
[01:21:44] I think, first of all, I'm on board with what Ryan's doing there and I'm doing my best to make his dreams come true.
[01:21:53] And I have something to offer there.
[01:21:54] I'm going to help with his social media as well.
[01:21:56] And World Foosball Tour will have social media and all that stuff.
[01:21:59] And I'm for it.
[01:22:00] I don't see them as a competitor.
[01:22:02] I see them as a teammate.
[01:22:03] I think historically we've only shown the best of the best.
[01:22:09] So people see Tony, Ryan, Fred, Todd, and that's it.
[01:22:12] But maybe Brandon Moreland.
[01:22:14] Maybe Mario Arganello.
[01:22:15] Maybe Tom Yorick.
[01:22:17] Maybe Traceon.
[01:22:18] Billy.
[01:22:18] Billy Pappas, of course.
[01:22:19] That was a test.
[01:22:20] You passed it.
[01:22:21] I left him out on purpose.
[01:22:24] But honestly, there are like half a dozen players that everybody knows and you've seen all their matches.
[01:22:31] And then once you get out of that top 10-ish, there are – do you know that there are people who watched foosball for 20 years and didn't know how good Brandon Moreland was?
[01:22:42] And they were surprised when he won Worlds with Tommy and doubles.
[01:22:46] And I'm like, do you watch foosball?
[01:22:48] He's, in my view, like the number three scoring goalie of all time.
[01:22:52] Yeah.
[01:22:53] He's really good.
[01:22:53] That's not doing Dallas homeboy stuff.
[01:22:56] That is, I think – maybe number four, actually.
[01:22:59] You have Billy and Ryan or one, two, depending on where you live.
[01:23:04] And then number three is maybe T-Mac.
[01:23:06] And then Brandon is probably four or five.
[01:23:08] And people don't know how good he is.
[01:23:10] He just comes out and wins Texas State.
[01:23:12] That's his only tournament.
[01:23:13] He won Texas State back-to-back with Mike Archer.
[01:23:16] Yeah.
[01:23:16] And people just don't know that.
[01:23:18] Like, why is that?
[01:23:18] So, I think – I'm answering your question, but I'm giving a lot of context first.
[01:23:22] There are so many players who – it's not that they deserve to be highlighted.
[01:23:29] It's not like they have a thing that we owe them.
[01:23:32] I don't think of it that way.
[01:23:33] I think of it as – I love foosball.
[01:23:35] And Tony, Ryan, Billy, Todd, Trevor – name all these players.
[01:23:40] You've got to watch these.
[01:23:41] They're just so awesome.
[01:23:42] But guess what?
[01:23:43] There's a kid in Minnesota named Jacob Balkos.
[01:23:46] There's this kid in New York named Sam.
[01:23:48] They're awesome.
[01:23:49] And who knows if they'll be the next great thing.
[01:23:51] I don't know if they are, and I don't care if they will be.
[01:23:53] I just know they're awesome right now.
[01:23:55] There's this kid in Germany.
[01:23:56] He's not a kid now, but Tomas Haas.
[01:23:58] You've got to see this guy.
[01:23:59] You've got to see this dude.
[01:24:00] You've got to see this girl.
[01:24:01] You've got to see this man.
[01:24:02] You've got to see this whatever.
[01:24:03] And there are – there's unlimited – not literally, but in my view,
[01:24:08] there's unlimited players that you can show the foosball world like,
[01:24:12] check this out.
[01:24:13] Foosball is more than Tony.
[01:24:15] And I love Tony.
[01:24:15] I never cheer against Tony, so it's not about anything.
[01:24:18] Don't misread what I'm saying.
[01:24:20] What I'm saying is there is more to foosball than Tony versus Ryan.
[01:24:25] And for a long time, that's what foosball was, Tony versus Ryan.
[01:24:28] And so now to get into the actual answer, I think it's a massive W for foosball
[01:24:35] for Ryan to showcase foosball players.
[01:24:39] Yep.
[01:24:39] And if that's Billy, great.
[01:24:41] If it's Kane, Gabriel, great.
[01:24:42] If it's Sam, great.
[01:24:43] If it's Sullivan, Isabel, Munoz, whoever, great.
[01:24:46] It's not so much about who do we spotlight.
[01:24:48] It's just the fact that we're showing the world there's more to foosball than Tony versus Ryan.
[01:24:53] And I am all about it.
[01:24:55] And it is such a massive W.
[01:24:58] It's a great thing.
[01:25:00] I'm glad Ryan has that vision.
[01:25:01] I fully support it.
[01:25:03] I supported it before I knew that we were on the same page with it.
[01:25:06] That's just how I think it should work.
[01:25:07] I could pick a player, pick a rank, pick a state, pick a city.
[01:25:10] And I can talk about something that's cool about that place.
[01:25:14] Foosball is more than just a couple dozen people.
[01:25:16] It wasn't that long ago when Tony was actually on an episode of Foosball Radio.
[01:25:22] And he said, you know, we need more players because it's getting a little stale.
[01:25:27] We're having, you know, the same top five, top six players.
[01:25:31] We're playing each other all the time.
[01:25:33] And we need, you know, young, fresh talent to challenge us.
[01:25:38] We need to stay passionate about this game.
[01:25:41] So he got his wish.
[01:25:43] Yeah, he did.
[01:25:44] And there's a kid, Austrian kid, Stefan Bermatt and his brother Daniel.
[01:25:48] They're both awesome.
[01:25:49] The list goes on and on and on.
[01:25:51] And I refuse to leave those people out.
[01:25:56] If they show up to the tournament, can we get these on table one, please?
[01:25:59] That's what I think a lot of our coverage is going to hopefully include moving forward is having a communication with Ryan or whoever's running the tournament.
[01:26:09] He said he's the host, not the TD.
[01:26:11] But if I ask him for it, hopefully he'll say yes.
[01:26:13] Can we get this match?
[01:26:14] Can we get this versus this?
[01:26:17] And if the answer is yes, I don't think success for foosball is going to come as a result of let's show everybody the best players.
[01:26:27] I think it's going to come as let's show people how awesome foosball is.
[01:26:31] Like we love foosball.
[01:26:34] Like I went and played foosball last night at the local.
[01:26:38] And frankly, I struggle sometimes to have fun.
[01:26:41] But I still go because I love foosball.
[01:26:42] And I lost, but I love foosball.
[01:26:45] I'm going to go next Saturday.
[01:26:46] I love foosball.
[01:26:48] I just love foosball.
[01:26:49] And the more people that can have that same opinion, I think it's a win.
[01:26:54] And one step in that direction is showing people how many different flavors of the taco there are.
[01:27:02] Taco is more than just meat and cheese.
[01:27:04] You can do so many things with the taco.
[01:27:07] I love tacos.
[01:27:08] A little guacamole, right?
[01:27:10] Some people like guacamole.
[01:27:12] Some people like sardines.
[01:27:13] Chipotle?
[01:27:14] I had tacos tonight with only meat, cheese, and tomatoes on a hard shell.
[01:27:21] And I'll eat a different kind of taco tomorrow.
[01:27:24] You could have a taco every day for lunch with a different flavor and you'd go a year without having the same one twice.
[01:27:29] Yeah.
[01:27:29] Fish tacos.
[01:27:30] Fish tacos.
[01:27:31] Shrimp tacos.
[01:27:32] Right?
[01:27:32] Yeah.
[01:27:33] Chicken.
[01:27:34] Do your halibut.
[01:27:35] Vegan tacos, which are disgusting.
[01:27:37] But anyway, I mean, if that's your flavor.
[01:27:39] Is it a taco though if it's vegan?
[01:27:41] It's not.
[01:27:42] It's really not.
[01:27:42] But anyway, I mean, we can have this debate.
[01:27:46] It's fine.
[01:27:47] So foosball is that to me.
[01:27:49] Is a vegan taco.
[01:27:50] Yeah.
[01:27:50] I don't want you to believe that my taco is the best taco in existence.
[01:27:55] I just want you to know about tacos and then you find a way to enjoy the taco.
[01:28:01] So not to interrupt the food conversation, but what somebody wants to know, will the individual matches of TKO be available on Modern Foos YouTube?
[01:28:12] Yes.
[01:28:12] Good.
[01:28:14] Good.
[01:28:14] Good.
[01:28:15] Good.
[01:28:15] Everything that we stream will be on our YouTube.
[01:28:17] And you'll see clips on our socials.
[01:28:19] You'll see clips on World Foosball Tour socials.
[01:28:22] Everything that we stream will be, and it'll be down the line.
[01:28:26] Like, we're just now doing the open singles from Worlds this month, and we're doing doubles.
[01:28:33] So it takes time, and people bitch about that.
[01:28:36] People complain, sorry, about that.
[01:28:37] Well, I want to watch it now.
[01:28:39] I don't care.
[01:28:41] Like, Foosball is 742 people.
[01:28:44] And I love you, but you're not the priority on this one specific thing.
[01:28:48] There's millions of people out there, and they will get it one match at a time and not know any better.
[01:28:55] So the stream will be for you for now for Foosers.
[01:28:59] And this podcast is for you for now.
[01:29:01] It's the Foosers.
[01:29:01] Like, all this stuff is for you.
[01:29:03] Yes.
[01:29:03] Like, we're not going after the millions of non-Foosers.
[01:29:06] But the YouTube uploads are for the millions of non-Foosers.
[01:29:09] I'm not sure that the non-Foosers would get the taco thing.
[01:29:12] I'm just saying, you know.
[01:29:14] Well, everybody gets a good taco reference.
[01:29:15] That's true.
[01:29:16] I love tacos.
[01:29:17] Tacos for the win.
[01:29:19] Don't forget, but there's also nachos.
[01:29:23] We could get into the nacho thing, but I digress.
[01:29:26] Not if there's too many at once.
[01:29:30] Nachos are like a little pizza that they made wrong.
[01:29:33] Oh, no.
[01:29:34] Don't get the pizza thing going, because then we'll have to go to it.
[01:29:37] Oh, Pizza Hut!
[01:29:38] All these corporate tortillas, or whatever that is.
[01:29:42] Corporate tortilla?
[01:29:46] Well, you've heard, obviously, my argument about Mexican food,
[01:29:50] is that it's the same protein and different geometry.
[01:29:53] Where'd you go?
[01:29:56] Did you say geometry?
[01:29:58] I haven't heard that.
[01:29:59] It's all geometry.
[01:30:00] It's the same.
[01:30:01] It's not an argument.
[01:30:02] It's negative.
[01:30:03] I just feel sometimes that I'm getting looked at.
[01:30:09] Mexican food is the same protein in different geometric presentations, but it's the same thing.
[01:30:18] So you've got a semi-circle.
[01:30:21] You have a cylinder.
[01:30:23] And you have, you know, triangles all over the place.
[01:30:27] But it's all still meat, and it's still cheese.
[01:30:31] It's a protein.
[01:30:32] And there's a sauce.
[01:30:34] There's a sauce.
[01:30:35] There's a gordita.
[01:30:36] There's a chimichanga.
[01:30:37] There's a fajita.
[01:30:39] I think Mexican food is just Italian food where they traded pasta for corn tortillas and added a lot more relatives.
[01:30:48] Oh, that's philosophical.
[01:30:52] I'm sorry.
[01:30:52] You ever been to an Italian dinner?
[01:30:54] I've been to an Italian dinner.
[01:30:56] Yeah.
[01:30:57] Wow.
[01:30:57] Man.
[01:30:58] You guys.
[01:31:02] If I could get that.
[01:31:08] This is.
[01:31:11] Now, five, four, three, two.
[01:31:20] One.
[01:31:21] And I'm back.
[01:31:23] I don't know.
[01:31:24] I don't know why I thought that was funny.
[01:31:26] I just.
[01:31:26] I don't know why I said it.
[01:31:27] I don't even know what it means.
[01:31:28] I just was trying to do something other than Oklahoma, Florida.
[01:31:31] Okay.
[01:31:33] So.
[01:31:35] I miss this.
[01:31:35] I really do.
[01:31:37] Sometimes.
[01:31:38] Yeah.
[01:31:40] Yeah.
[01:31:41] Randy, I know.
[01:31:41] Here's the thing.
[01:31:42] You and I, we know.
[01:31:44] We know.
[01:31:45] East Coast, the cuisine, centuries old, been around forever.
[01:31:50] Yeah.
[01:31:50] It's the best.
[01:31:51] What can I tell you?
[01:31:52] Randy and I, we see eye to eye on this.
[01:31:54] So, anyway.
[01:31:55] Yeah.
[01:31:56] Well, my wife loves Mexican food.
[01:31:58] I don't like Mexican food.
[01:31:59] I like it.
[01:32:00] I don't.
[01:32:00] It's not.
[01:32:01] I just.
[01:32:01] It gives me indigestion.
[01:32:03] I'm not a fan.
[01:32:04] How'd you do?
[01:32:05] I like cheese max.
[01:32:07] Yeah.
[01:32:07] Tex-Mex.
[01:32:08] I can smash some Tex-Mex.
[01:32:09] There's this place.
[01:32:10] It's like 10 minutes away.
[01:32:12] They got this chorizo cheese dip.
[01:32:14] Yes.
[01:32:15] Roll your arm.
[01:32:15] I like it.
[01:32:16] Oh, let's go.
[01:32:17] Let's go.
[01:32:18] It's delicious.
[01:32:19] I'll smash that.
[01:32:20] If Tex-Mex isn't giving you indigestion, what Mexican food has given you indigestion?
[01:32:25] Like, where are you going?
[01:32:26] It's just whatever.
[01:32:28] It's honestly.
[01:32:29] Mex-Mex.
[01:32:29] The onions and the peppers.
[01:32:31] Is it the beans?
[01:32:32] There's onions and peppers in Tex-Mex.
[01:32:34] Yeah.
[01:32:35] Listen.
[01:32:35] I don't.
[01:32:36] I just.
[01:32:36] I don't eat it.
[01:32:37] That's why.
[01:32:38] I can't.
[01:32:38] I can't fool with it.
[01:32:49] Shrimp.
[01:32:50] No.
[01:32:51] No.
[01:32:51] This is devolving into massive judgment.
[01:32:53] Yeah.
[01:32:54] It's not judgment.
[01:32:55] No, I'm just incensed.
[01:32:57] I don't understand what I'm doing.
[01:32:58] Incensed.
[01:32:59] Anyways, Tom.
[01:33:00] Wait, what you're doing?
[01:33:00] No, what you're doing, Adam?
[01:33:02] Is he like, oh, so in your car, you go to the gas station.
[01:33:04] 89 octane?
[01:33:05] Is that what you get?
[01:33:06] No.
[01:33:07] You do 89?
[01:33:08] No, I'm just trying to understand what he's saying.
[01:33:11] Tex-Mex and Mexican food have the same shit in it.
[01:33:16] So why is one giving him indigestion and the other one isn't?
[01:33:19] They both give me indigestion, the seasoning.
[01:33:21] But sometimes I'm willing to deal with the pain to enjoy the Tex-Mex.
[01:33:25] The taste.
[01:33:25] The flavor.
[01:33:26] Mexican.
[01:33:27] Mexican is just kind of like.
[01:33:29] And tacos are.
[01:33:30] For me, tacos are not Mexican food.
[01:33:33] I'm sorry.
[01:33:34] The taco thing wasn't a metaphor?
[01:33:36] No, it's not Mexican food is what he's saying.
[01:33:42] But we'll have all those matches up on our YouTube.
[01:33:45] Nice.
[01:33:46] Yeah, that's good.
[01:33:47] I like it.
[01:33:48] One a day.
[01:33:49] So for me, I'm so busy.
[01:33:50] Isn't it great?
[01:33:51] I get the one drop a day.
[01:33:53] I just sit there for 30 minutes while my wife's in the shower and I watch a match and I'm like, this is perfect.
[01:33:57] Yeah.
[01:33:58] You know what time it goes up?
[01:34:00] It comes up in the morning, no?
[01:34:02] Does it drop in the morning?
[01:34:03] Yeah, it drops in the morning.
[01:34:03] Same time every morning, yeah.
[01:34:05] Yeah.
[01:34:05] So I see it drop.
[01:34:07] So you're regular.
[01:34:08] And I'll see it drop.
[01:34:09] Yeah.
[01:34:10] And then when I get home in the evening after I get done, settle down, I'll sit down and watch the match.
[01:34:15] The Ryan and Todd one, I'm going to have to watch it tomorrow.
[01:34:18] I'm going to have to double up tomorrow.
[01:34:20] Yeah.
[01:34:20] Yeah, that's a good one.
[01:34:21] That one is already, a couple thousand people have already watched it.
[01:34:25] But the stats, the analytics that YouTube give us is amazing.
[01:34:29] So you can actually see what works, what doesn't work.
[01:34:32] The thumbnails, stuff that we do.
[01:34:34] The thumbnail.
[01:34:35] That one is, yeah.
[01:34:36] That's my question.
[01:34:37] Yeah?
[01:34:38] I love that thumbnail for that match.
[01:34:40] Oh, for Ryan?
[01:34:41] For Ryan, yeah.
[01:34:42] Yeah.
[01:34:43] I sent that to him Friday, I think it was.
[01:34:46] I sent him a screenshot.
[01:34:47] I was like, this is the thumbnail for the match of you.
[01:34:50] And he was like, what the hell is that?
[01:34:51] That's terrible.
[01:34:54] This is what it is.
[01:34:55] So what that frame is from is the ball had died between their five bars.
[01:35:02] And Ryan was trying to, you know, get it.
[01:35:05] And it's five bars so he can't bend it and he can't quite reach it.
[01:35:08] And he's just kind of being silly doing the Popeye, you know,
[01:35:12] whatever you want to pronounce it, you know, face there.
[01:35:13] And it's funny, but I don't think he liked it.
[01:35:16] But the masses do.
[01:35:18] Yeah.
[01:35:18] Okay.
[01:35:20] Again, back to what I was saying earlier with all the stuff that Clay does,
[01:35:22] is like the kind of work that he does to make the thumbnails speak stories.
[01:35:28] I didn't know that that was the background of that.
[01:35:30] I was curious because every time I see a thumbnail, I'm always like,
[01:35:33] what's Clay doing?
[01:35:34] What's he thinking here?
[01:35:34] And I'm like, I'm making messages.
[01:35:36] I didn't ask about that one.
[01:35:37] But to know that that's why that looks like that, that's fantastic.
[01:35:40] I love that.
[01:35:43] Almost every thumbnail I could tell you the story.
[01:35:45] Some of them are just handshakes or something very normal.
[01:35:48] But if it's not like a fist bump or a handshake, there's a story.
[01:35:51] There's so many storylines, man.
[01:35:53] I mean, there's so many storylines.
[01:35:56] I love the Sullivan thumb in.
[01:36:01] Yeah, I don't know the deal on that.
[01:36:02] Matter of fact, if you see her do it with her thumb out,
[01:36:04] she'll actually redo it and do the thumb in.
[01:36:06] Really?
[01:36:06] I've talked to her about it.
[01:36:07] I've talked to her about it.
[01:36:09] What is it?
[01:36:10] That's just how she's comfortable.
[01:36:12] Okay.
[01:36:13] Yeah.
[01:36:13] I don't think Terry's ever taught her how to throw a punch.
[01:36:15] That's why.
[01:36:16] Going thumbless.
[01:36:18] Yeah.
[01:36:19] That's how you break your thumb.
[01:36:21] Yeah, like that.
[01:36:22] Precisely.
[01:36:23] Yeah.
[01:36:23] But she just, yeah, fist bump always.
[01:36:25] I'm like, kid.
[01:36:26] But this also means something.
[01:36:27] If you show a flight attendant, that means a thing.
[01:36:30] Really?
[01:36:31] Yeah.
[01:36:31] Do it.
[01:36:32] Next time you fly.
[01:36:33] Nah, just do it.
[01:36:33] Is it like a...
[01:36:34] Yeah.
[01:36:34] No.
[01:36:35] Yeah.
[01:36:35] No.
[01:36:35] It's like a safe word.
[01:36:38] This is a...
[01:36:41] It's actually one of those things I don't even know if it's true.
[01:36:43] I just saw it on Instagram.
[01:36:45] So I just passed it along as fact because that's how social media works.
[01:36:48] Everything on the internet is true.
[01:36:50] And I definitely am not trying that on a plane.
[01:36:52] So, yeah.
[01:36:54] Don't do it.
[01:36:54] I don't do anything on a plane.
[01:36:55] I go to sleep before we take off.
[01:36:59] And that's just how I fly.
[01:37:01] That's the routine.
[01:37:02] Do the same thing.
[01:37:02] That's it.
[01:37:03] No.
[01:37:04] Put the headphones in and fall asleep.
[01:37:06] You guys, what you do, man.
[01:37:08] Again, I got a great taste of it in Michigan with the stats, the player mics.
[01:37:15] I think it's awesome.
[01:37:16] So cool.
[01:37:18] The stats are huge because I can see in time what's happening in the match and what I really need to work on.
[01:37:23] Like what I need to improve in real time.
[01:37:25] So...
[01:37:26] And when you were playing a match, you were looking at your stats because we had the player screen.
[01:37:30] I mean, you were checking it out in real time.
[01:37:32] Like, oh, I'm passing...
[01:37:33] Super helpful.
[01:37:35] I mean, that...
[01:37:35] Yeah, I got to really focus.
[01:37:37] I got to focus.
[01:37:38] It makes a difference.
[01:37:39] It really does.
[01:37:40] That player screen is fantastic.
[01:37:42] Yeah.
[01:37:44] Like, it makes me want to...
[01:37:45] Those who don't know, like when...
[01:37:47] At Great Lakes Classic, there was right there on the Mohawk, there was that little screen that showed the stats, the live stats when we were doing stats for a match.
[01:37:56] But it also showed if they needed an instant replay.
[01:38:01] And players just watching it, God, how many players...
[01:38:04] There were so many players that were looking up at that.
[01:38:06] There were so many Canadians that were looking up at that.
[01:38:08] Mm-hmm.
[01:38:09] Yeah, they were like, what is this?
[01:38:10] Yeah.
[01:38:11] Electricity?
[01:38:12] Right.
[01:38:13] The floppy heads and their beady eyes just being amazed at what they were seeing.
[01:38:19] Yeah.
[01:38:20] Yeah.
[01:38:20] No, it's...
[01:38:21] I mean, it's definitely...
[01:38:23] It's revolutionizing what's happening on table one, for sure.
[01:38:28] Well, the player experience...
[01:38:29] Anybody can do it.
[01:38:30] Yeah.
[01:38:30] We do not have, like, some kind of secret sauce that nobody else can do.
[01:38:34] It can be done by whoever wants to do it.
[01:38:36] The want to, I think, is actually where we excel.
[01:38:39] Yeah.
[01:38:39] The gas factor, this was a term I came up with a decade or so ago.
[01:38:43] If you give a blank, if you care, your gas factor, that's really the bigger part of what you need to make a quality product.
[01:38:52] And the rest is just details.
[01:38:54] And it's about having a good crew like you guys have.
[01:38:56] I mean, the five people you've banded together and you've got this formula.
[01:39:00] It's working.
[01:39:00] And it's exciting.
[01:39:02] It's really cool.
[01:39:03] We're lucky.
[01:39:06] Here's an observation.
[01:39:07] If you take it whatever way you'd like, but this seems like a perfect storm between Modern Foos, World Foosball Tour, and just the new players that are coming up all at the same time.
[01:39:21] Just an observation.
[01:39:24] Yeah, it's nice to be here for it.
[01:39:26] Yeah.
[01:39:26] It feels very fortunate.
[01:39:28] It's just a...
[01:39:29] You know, who's the athlete that said luck is when opportunity meets preparation or vice versa?
[01:39:34] I think that's kind of where we're at right now.
[01:39:36] And it's easy to say, yeah, I'm lucky or that we're lucky or whatever.
[01:39:39] But the reality is we were prepared.
[01:39:42] And then when the train came along, we just hopped on it.
[01:39:44] Or maybe we're the train and they're hopping on us.
[01:39:47] I don't know.
[01:39:47] Yeah.
[01:39:48] Yeah.
[01:39:49] I don't know.
[01:39:49] I think Chef Boyardee said that, but he definitely cornered the market.
[01:39:53] Did he really?
[01:39:54] No.
[01:39:56] But you're definitely right as far as the train thing.
[01:39:59] Yeah.
[01:39:59] Like I said, man, the way things are heading, I'm really excited for this year.
[01:40:06] I really am.
[01:40:07] I can't wait.
[01:40:08] It's going to be a really nice year.
[01:40:10] It's going to be a year unlike any other.
[01:40:12] And, you know, win, lose, or draw, it will be a new experience for foosball regardless.
[01:40:19] Yeah.
[01:40:19] I think I...
[01:40:20] In my gut, I believe that this is the beginning of...
[01:40:23] What does Ryan say?
[01:40:25] The next greatest era of foosball?
[01:40:27] He has a slogan that I don't remember because I'm not cool, I guess, like that with slogans.
[01:40:31] But the idea behind it, I believe.
[01:40:34] I think this is day one of a new year.
[01:40:39] Yeah.
[01:40:40] Figuratively and literally.
[01:40:41] The new era.
[01:40:41] And it's about to be...
[01:40:45] It's a good time to be a fan of foosball.
[01:40:46] Oh, yeah.
[01:40:47] Yes, sir.
[01:40:48] Yep.
[01:40:48] I mean, you can argue as much as you like about it.
[01:40:50] It's been overdue, but that's okay because it's here now.
[01:40:55] So we're ready to rock.
[01:40:57] I was overdue.
[01:40:58] I was due on June 20th, and I was born on July the 4th.
[01:41:02] I was two weeks overdue.
[01:41:03] Ooh.
[01:41:04] That turned out all right.
[01:41:05] Yeah, yeah.
[01:41:05] July the 4th, no less.
[01:41:08] July the 4th.
[01:41:09] Okay.
[01:41:10] So we have to make a pact here.
[01:41:13] We're all going to be at TKO.
[01:41:15] And it's...
[01:41:16] Yeah.
[01:41:16] We're all going to be there.
[01:41:19] And so we have to put together a time over the weekend where we can kind of revisit this
[01:41:25] whole idea.
[01:41:25] We just talked about it.
[01:41:26] We'll go back on the air, and we'll do this.
[01:41:29] And he's bringing his knife, by the way.
[01:41:32] Randy's bringing his knife.
[01:41:32] Can't we have to make a pact?
[01:41:33] We're making a pact, right?
[01:41:35] The blood oath.
[01:41:36] Blood pact?
[01:41:36] The blood oath.
[01:41:37] Yes.
[01:41:38] I don't do that.
[01:41:39] I need my blood.
[01:41:42] Blood.
[01:41:42] I'm using my blood.
[01:41:43] Thank you very much.
[01:41:44] All right.
[01:41:45] Ooh, look at that.
[01:41:47] What is...
[01:41:48] What is that?
[01:41:49] Oh.
[01:41:49] It's a little flame.
[01:41:51] It's a candle.
[01:41:52] The breast pump.
[01:41:55] No, it's a floor cleaner.
[01:41:59] It is not a floor cleaner.
[01:42:01] It is a little...
[01:42:02] You put...
[01:42:02] It's a little...
[01:42:03] It's a candle.
[01:42:04] It's a candle.
[01:42:05] Yeah.
[01:42:05] It's like a...
[01:42:06] It's got the wick in there.
[01:42:08] Oh, yeah, yeah.
[01:42:08] And you put...
[01:42:10] You put fluid in there.
[01:42:11] And if it's flammable and you light it, it burns.
[01:42:14] Light the wick.
[01:42:15] In there.
[01:42:15] And get things going.
[01:42:17] Light it up.
[01:42:18] Light it.
[01:42:18] Yeah, we will light.
[01:42:19] I do have a pen we can prick if I need to.
[01:42:22] Yeah, see?
[01:42:23] We'll make this happen.
[01:42:23] The amount of things I have at this desk are unreal.
[01:42:26] Like the tiny screwdriver that you didn't know existed.
[01:42:29] Wow.
[01:42:29] Nice.
[01:42:30] That's there.
[01:42:30] This is how great minds work.
[01:42:33] Got a puzzle piece here.
[01:42:34] There's a story behind this, too.
[01:42:36] Nice.
[01:42:38] Well...
[01:42:38] Pretty much all of it.
[01:42:39] I think before we wrap this thing, Adam, anything you'd like to add?
[01:42:44] Any insights before we get back together again at the TKO?
[01:42:57] No.
[01:42:57] I think I already said what I wanted to say.
[01:42:59] Well said.
[01:43:00] I think that, you know, I think that the average foo-ser is going to these tournaments
[01:43:08] and making it happen and playing and trying to get better.
[01:43:11] But I also think that it might also be good to get off your lazy ass and try harder, noob.
[01:43:21] That's what you really think.
[01:43:23] Yeah.
[01:43:23] Okay.
[01:43:24] If you let it simmer, there's more.
[01:43:26] I've learned this about it.
[01:43:27] Just give it like four seconds.
[01:43:29] There's more.
[01:43:32] It's brewing.
[01:43:33] Oh, there is there.
[01:43:33] Yeah, it's brewing.
[01:43:36] Well, I mean, if you think about it...
[01:43:40] No, no, no, no.
[01:43:41] Don't.
[01:43:42] I think that's pretty much legit.
[01:43:44] I'm just thinking about...
[01:43:45] No.
[01:43:46] No.
[01:43:46] We're good.
[01:43:47] Clay?
[01:43:49] And?
[01:43:54] No.
[01:43:55] I just...
[01:43:56] I think I've already said it.
[01:43:58] I just...
[01:43:58] I think that what I find frustrating is when people just assume that you're going to have
[01:44:09] a tray brought to you that has all of your foosball dreams on it.
[01:44:14] And I worry.
[01:44:16] I worry for Ryan.
[01:44:18] And I worry...
[01:44:18] And I know he can handle it.
[01:44:19] That guy is...
[01:44:20] He can handle it.
[01:44:21] But, you know, there's a lot of people that are super excited right now.
[01:44:24] And maybe by Hall of Fame, you know, it doesn't deliver on what they want.
[01:44:28] And I know that he's already said, you know, that he knows that this year is a work in
[01:44:33] progress.
[01:44:34] And I still think it's an experiment.
[01:44:35] It's going to be greater than anything for foosball, right?
[01:44:37] But I also know that a lot of people are going to be upset.
[01:44:41] And four years ago, they were sitting staring at pictures of foosball rooms.
[01:44:46] Because they couldn't play.
[01:44:47] Because they couldn't play.
[01:44:48] And so they're upset now.
[01:44:50] And what have you done?
[01:44:52] And I invite you to look at what you've done in the last four or five years to do anything.
[01:44:56] You know?
[01:44:57] And I don't know the extent to what Ryan has had to do to get to this point to do what
[01:45:02] he's doing for foosball.
[01:45:03] I can't even fathom what it is.
[01:45:06] I only barely know from Modern Foos and what we're doing.
[01:45:10] You know?
[01:45:11] The investment, the time, the energy that goes into it.
[01:45:13] I know what I have to do.
[01:45:14] I have to spend time away from my family.
[01:45:16] All the time.
[01:45:17] And it kills me.
[01:45:18] You know?
[01:45:19] But it is what it is.
[01:45:20] Of course, I love hanging out with Clay.
[01:45:22] Clay is my...
[01:45:23] The guy saved my life, like, I think at least twice.
[01:45:25] Me and Tom York.
[01:45:28] As far as I know.
[01:45:29] Right?
[01:45:30] But that's another story.
[01:45:31] And we can tell it later.
[01:45:32] But the reality is that, like, I enjoy that.
[01:45:35] But I also still taking time away from my own life.
[01:45:38] And I just invite anybody out there who wants foosball to get better to look at what it is that they're doing.
[01:45:48] And evaluate what it is they're doing.
[01:45:50] And see if it matches anything anybody else that is doing.
[01:45:56] And to that end, I'm always happy.
[01:46:00] Always happy to listen to somebody.
[01:46:03] Message me.
[01:46:03] Adam Gilson.
[01:46:04] I'm on Facebook.
[01:46:07] You just chat with me.
[01:46:08] Let me know.
[01:46:08] Hey, you know.
[01:46:09] What can I do to help?
[01:46:10] This is my skill set.
[01:46:11] These are my abilities.
[01:46:12] That's what I do.
[01:46:13] I'm a fucking teacher.
[01:46:14] Like, that's my whole life.
[01:46:15] It's how I help people understand what it is.
[01:46:17] Like, I'm not a teacher.
[01:46:18] I'm a facilitator of education.
[01:46:19] I'm a facilitator of learning.
[01:46:21] So if you want to understand what you could do to help foosball get better, message me.
[01:46:27] Ask me.
[01:46:27] Like, look at...
[01:46:28] They ask Modern Foos, the chat, about what it is to do to just, like, stream better.
[01:46:34] Right?
[01:46:35] We're here.
[01:46:36] This is not...
[01:46:37] I think that's what it is.
[01:46:38] We're not octopi trying to grab everything and bring it into our cells.
[01:46:43] We're the...
[01:46:45] What's the opposite of octopi?
[01:46:46] We want foosball to get better.
[01:46:48] A confetti machine.
[01:46:50] Poof.
[01:46:52] Toctopus?
[01:46:53] A toctopus.
[01:46:56] Anyways.
[01:46:57] Yeah.
[01:46:57] There you go.
[01:46:58] I dig it.
[01:46:59] That's what I want.
[01:46:59] I want for foosball to get better, and I want you all to feel comfortable asking
[01:47:03] for support on how to help foosball get better.
[01:47:06] And don't think that sitting there behind your keyboards makes foosball better.
[01:47:12] Clay?
[01:47:15] Tom?
[01:47:16] Yes?
[01:47:22] Oh.
[01:47:23] This...
[01:47:23] You know...
[01:47:25] Ow!
[01:47:30] So, before we wrap this thing, any other final thoughts?
[01:47:35] I think...
[01:47:36] I really think it's a good time to be a fan of foosball.
[01:47:41] It's a good time to invite in new people to foosball.
[01:47:44] Think of the last time you got one of your friends invited to foosball instead of making
[01:47:48] a friend at foosball.
[01:47:49] And I am not one of these people who brings a new person out to the local every week.
[01:47:54] I actually don't.
[01:47:55] I don't know that I ever have.
[01:47:57] I have a cousin that comes to my local with me sometimes.
[01:48:01] It's probably been a couple years since then.
[01:48:03] So, I'm not saying what I do.
[01:48:04] I'm just saying one of the things you can do to help is tell people about foosball.
[01:48:08] Get out of this nonsense rut of saying what's wrong.
[01:48:15] And there's so much negativity.
[01:48:16] If you want to find somebody bitching about the game, knock yourself out.
[01:48:21] Just stay away from me.
[01:48:22] I really want to see things go well.
[01:48:24] And I will also...
[01:48:26] I will tell on myself.
[01:48:28] I delete comments and block people who don't support the mission.
[01:48:32] Whether it's on our YouTube, our Instagram, or our Facebook.
[01:48:35] If you have something constructive to say, you don't have to just fall in step and do what
[01:48:39] we say and all that stuff.
[01:48:40] I love feedback.
[01:48:41] I love criticism, actually.
[01:48:42] I like when people say, I don't like this arrow.
[01:48:45] I like this line, but not the arrow.
[01:48:46] That's cool.
[01:48:47] But what I cannot stand is, you know, my uncle won Minnesota Regional in 1987 and you're doing
[01:48:55] it wrong.
[01:48:56] Shut up.
[01:48:57] I actually won't reply to you.
[01:48:58] You're just deleted.
[01:48:59] You're gone.
[01:48:59] You're blocked.
[01:49:00] I don't care.
[01:49:00] I want to be a part of something that's going forward.
[01:49:03] And it's part of how we have this idea of modern foos being the future of foosball today.
[01:49:10] Like, I want to try to help form what foosball in the future looks like.
[01:49:15] And there is no limit to how many people can hop on this train.
[01:49:20] If you have something to add, add it.
[01:49:22] If you have an idea, share it.
[01:49:24] If you think that I'm your competitor, I'm not.
[01:49:26] I want to be on the same team with everybody.
[01:49:29] And if you directly oppose me, there's space for you to just know that it has to be done
[01:49:33] the right way.
[01:49:33] I am not afraid of confrontation.
[01:49:36] What I will not do is waste my time with people who are trying to succeed in something
[01:49:42] that I'm not trying to succeed in.
[01:49:44] Just go do something else.
[01:49:45] I don't care.
[01:49:45] You're not my competitor.
[01:49:46] I'm doing this thing.
[01:49:47] I'd love that I get to do this with people that I respect and genuinely enjoy being around.
[01:49:52] And I'm excited as hell about the World Foosball Tour.
[01:49:55] It's not really a modern foos thing.
[01:49:56] It's just as a fan of foosball, I'm excited what's happening.
[01:50:00] And I really would like to encourage people to just find a thing that you can add and add
[01:50:05] it.
[01:50:06] And if it doesn't catch on, you know what?
[01:50:09] Not every idea is awesome, but at least you try it.
[01:50:11] And then see what else you can add.
[01:50:13] And my inbox is always open.
[01:50:15] And I shoot ideas down.
[01:50:18] I will say no thanks sometimes.
[01:50:20] That's not a problem.
[01:50:21] I've told...
[01:50:22] This was a joke in the chat last week.
[01:50:24] Randy was trying to say something to good nationals.
[01:50:26] I was like, no!
[01:50:27] Like, I'm the no guy.
[01:50:28] I bet my no is I love the N word.
[01:50:31] And I will say it strongly with a capital N.
[01:50:34] And it ends with an O.
[01:50:37] No.
[01:50:37] There's a time.
[01:50:39] But also, like, it's for a reason.
[01:50:42] And I give a shit.
[01:50:44] Like, my gas factor is fully activated.
[01:50:46] And I think everybody has something that they can add to foosball.
[01:50:51] I genuinely believe that.
[01:50:52] The newest player, the worst five bar, the clueless defender.
[01:50:56] I don't care who you are.
[01:50:58] The bartender at the DYP, who doesn't even play foosball?
[01:51:01] You can add something.
[01:51:02] There's a place for everybody.
[01:51:04] This table is huge.
[01:51:05] Yeah.
[01:51:05] Have a seat.
[01:51:07] Yep.
[01:51:09] And let it sink in.
[01:51:10] Get addicted.
[01:51:12] Okay, Randy.
[01:51:13] So, your parting comments here?
[01:51:15] Because I know you're ready to, I can tell.
[01:51:17] You're ready to fade here.
[01:51:19] What are your parting comments for tonight before we let you go?
[01:51:24] Just, thank you, gentlemen, for coming on.
[01:51:27] And for everybody listening, just show up.
[01:51:31] That's it.
[01:51:32] Come on and play foosball.
[01:51:33] Come hang out.
[01:51:33] Even if you're not going to play, come hang out.
[01:51:35] Come support it.
[01:51:36] Come watch some great, great foosball.
[01:51:39] Yeah, we're, you know, Ryan's putting himself out there for us, keeping the thing going,
[01:51:45] keeping the tour happening.
[01:51:46] And, you know, he was on last week talking about, you know, I mean, he's coming out of
[01:51:51] pocket to keep foosball going, to make it great.
[01:51:54] And the only thing we need to do is just show up.
[01:51:58] And like Clay and Adam said, just don't be negative.
[01:52:02] That's it.
[01:52:03] Yeah.
[01:52:03] I mean, again, I don't understand how people can come play foosball and not be happy.
[01:52:09] I'm always happy when I'm playing foosball.
[01:52:11] So if you're not part of the problem, I mean, if you're not part of the solution, you're
[01:52:16] part of the problem.
[01:52:16] So just come out, enjoy yourself, have a good time, and support the tour.
[01:52:20] Give us a chance.
[01:52:22] Yeah, let's make 2025 the biggest year foosball has ever had.
[01:52:26] Absolutely.
[01:52:27] Yeah.
[01:52:28] And my thanks as well to Adam and Clay for, right, just having,
[01:52:33] some good times tonight.
[01:52:34] Hey, you know what this is?
[01:52:36] It's media.
[01:52:37] This is media, foosball media.
[01:52:39] Foosball media has to exist for foosball to succeed.
[01:52:43] And you guys are on the, shall we say, the tip of the spear when it comes to foosball
[01:52:48] media.
[01:52:49] So thank you for the number two.
[01:52:51] Just the tip.
[01:52:52] My favorite game.
[01:52:53] Anyway, good time, guys.
[01:52:57] So before we get into any more trouble.
[01:53:01] But anyway, we're going to see you guys at TKO.
[01:53:05] And you have been listening to or watching on Twitch TV.
[01:53:10] Thank you so much for joining us tonight.
[01:53:12] And thanks again to our Patreons.
[01:53:13] By the way, if you are willing and would love to support Modern Foos, what is the Modern Foos
[01:53:20] Patreon page?
[01:53:21] What is that, Clay?

[01:53:27] You can be a not free member.
[01:53:29] And go check it out.
[01:53:32] Simple as that.
[01:53:32] See what you want to do.
[01:53:33] Yep.
[01:53:33] Can you do the thing?
[01:53:34] What?
[01:53:35] What thing?
[01:53:39] Oh, yeah.
[01:53:39] Patreon.com slash Modern Foos.
[01:53:41] It's Patreon.com slash Modern Foos.
